I’ve never seen any two people do them the same way. But I want to try it this way - I think my balance will be better and the cue to put the thumbs on the temples made a light go off for me. Thank you!
Jeff Nippard made a recent video and he included leg raises beside this. I think it’s a great addition, as it helps to surely get the abs burning after these crunches.

There's absolutely no reason whatsoever to have your thumbs poking out all that does is make it so somebody that's overexerting or not paying attention it's going to poke themselves in the eye.. it's just totally lame you don't have to stick your thumbs out 😂😂😂😂😂

I just cant make this exercise feel more in my abdominals than just sitting in that position without the weight squeezing my abs. To reach failure I would have to put on so much weight I cant even pull it down.
I believe it is…. Simply because it’s dynamic and includes your entire core, which also consists of your lower back muscles… I’ve felt the same, but then again, I haven’t tried doing them exactly like this either. Will give it a shot next session tomorrow and see how it goes

What weight would you recommend, because when it gets heavier, I find that grip becomes a limiting factor…
I really feel the stimulus in my abs the problem is after the first set my grip and forearms give up way before my abs do
Maybe try a lower weight and higher reps? Or try some grip strength exercises
you could try using lifting straps? or maybe use the handle attachments and slip your hands through the handles
Just practice a ton with controllable weight than move to a working weight
Get one of those grip trainers and improve your grip 💪

I have ti go all the way up. My lat machine only has 2 settings, high- lo.But its not an issue. I have a longer tricep rope.
Well i think that isnt an issue. Its actually helping you keeping the tension still when you are releasing and stretching the abs.

Try squeezing your abs to engage your core more.

As a beginner more strain arms pushing down then abs, make video address this as you already have good arm and shoulder muscle

I have had much better luck using the candlestick exercise. It's the ab exercise Mike Israetel thinks is best too.

3 sets, training yo failure. Choose light weight and do it fast
3-5 sets, 2-3 times a week, weight should be heavy enough to stay in the 8-15 rep zone, if u Can do more, go heavier.

In that case you are going too heavy and not doing the exercise properly, you should feel it already after 3-4 reps
