There are freaks out there who want to remove the age of consent and it not just a tiny group. They are now calling them minor attracted persons instead of pedophiles. Thanks for speaking up.
In the US, jail is a transitional space, and prison is the permanent one. I mean you can still spend years in jail, but prison is where you go after you've done the whole court spiel, and sentencing.
The "you did your time, you're forgiven" argument is for crimes like traffic tickets, unpaid child support, jaywalking, beating up the guy your ex-wife cheated on you with, stuff like that. That argument goes out the window for things pdf files and r*pists. Had this been something where he was 19 and she was 17 and they knew each other growing up maybe, seen it, but this is waaaaaay out of that depth.
He didn't even do the time, got sentenced to 4yrs and only did 13 months. Wonder why Netherlands allowed him to compete at the Olympics in the first place.
The examples you list is not you forgiving that perpetrator. It's just you not thinking they did anything wrong really to begin with. Just say that you don't believe in forgiveness and be done with it. My take though is that you can be forgiven for things you did, but that it does not change your resume. His resume, from the information in this video, make him a bad candidate for public position and representation. He could theoretically add to his resume over time that show rehabilitation but ultimately he would also have to show sacrifice/reprimand as well. For the public, because the public is a mindless blood-hungry blob. Or just don't bother with it and find another line of work.
Exactly. Regardless of whether he done time or not he shouldn’t be allowed to compete in the olympics or be in any important position. He’s a child rpist.
The higher ups in the Netherlands are Pedophiles as well. Plain and simple. There are more Jeffery Epstein Islands than people realize. People with power and authority aren't automatically immune to being monsters themselves. Nobody is safe.
I heard about this, but thought it was too crazy to be true, hearing the story from someone I respect. This is actually crazy. How did he only get 13 months? And why are they acting like nothing happened? Absolutely disgusting
Apparently he got 4 years in the UK(still crazy short, for 4 sentences of rape), but netherlands made a deal were he was going to serve his sentence there, and reduced it from rape to something lesser, which is fucking insane.
@@raquelesteves3334 Even if they did not do that, the sentence is max 8 years in the Netherlands. Which in practice means he would have also had gotten 4+- years and then with 'good behaviour', he would have been out in 1-2years. So basically the sentence part is in line with what most cases in the Netherlands would have been, if you want an example look for a news post called: "Bruggeling die meisje in zwembad zou betast hebben is aangehouden, man gaf zichzelf aan". Guy got like 2years of prison... They should just not let people who commited crimes with 6 months + jail time represent a country (which is quite the crime in the Netherlands, for example if someone dies because of you and no intention can be proved it's 2 years of prison). Or as Mitchell points out very well, be accepted into an organization that is so involed into making the sport available to the Youth...
@@raquelesteves3334in the Netherlands for it to be considered rape it has to be “forced entry”. Since this apparently wasn’t forced there really is no way around that.

RIGHT! I'm so tired of people being surprised that a boxing athlete has muscles, while there's a fucking pedo in the Olympics, where 14 year Olds are competing
I love when jackasses make this statement. EVERYONE has an issue with the pedo. Only half the world has an issue with XX and XY chromosomes competing with eachother. Feminists and lefties are pretty quiet now.
Thank you for this. I still can't fathom how he managed to get into the olympics, and the fact that his teammate was defending him about the crowd's reaction.
As a dutchie, the justice system is too focused on rehabilitation and preventing recidivism. They forget about punishment. People have been getting away with heinous shit for the longest time.
As an international sorting authority, the IOC should have definitely denied him a spot on the playing field and the Netherlands should realize that the rest of the world doesn't take to kindly people who do heinous things like that.
You'd be surprised how often they don't care. Just think about Larry Nassar, the doctor who raped so many US gymnast. When the girls made complaint they just ignored it. And the one who made it public got her spot in the Olympiq denied by the US team. You must understand that Olympiq team, despite using the name of their country usualy have nothing to do witht he governament and are private entities.
It’s odd when and where the IOC place their efforts. They rightly stood by the Algerian boxer when people were falsely claiming she was a man, but are now turning a blind eye to this very serious issue. If they wish to maintain their moral standing (supposing that matters), there need to be serious changes to who is and isn’t allowed to compete.
Tastefully said which is something I may not have been able to do. Far too many blatantly immoral things are being left to run their full course. I'm proud to see you standing your ground on your beliefs.
I'm old school. At the Olympics, he should be judged by his performance and as a sportsman, not by his past or private life. Then if he really committed awful crime, his penalty should be bigger and he should be in jail. So instead of complaining about his presence at the Olympics, people should complain about his absence in prison. Do we know better than the judge that had all the info about the case? We as a public are simply not the judge in his case. That was the base of western society, until people started to be conditioned to a totalitarian mindset. Again, if he committed heavy crime, he should be in a prison.
It's fucked how he described it as him being a dumb teenager making the worst of mistake of his life, but he was 19. He was an adult. The fact that he only served 13 months of his 4 year sentence, is a really damning picture of Dutch law when it comes to rape. Why did he serve that little time? Because he pleaded guilty?

@@OWnIshiiTrolling what im upset at is the very clear double standard. Not saying the Imane situation is without nuance, im just astounded at the difference in attention, especially considering how in my opinion, this is a much bigger deal than Imane. Especially, considering the amount of misinformation thats gone around, because people are so hate fueled against trans people (Imane has never transitioned, she is not transgender, thats entirely made up), while not even a tenth of that rage is reserved for a literal child molester.
@user-pq4fc1mc7q Yes, comparing two things does not make them equal. Diddling is bad, and stubbing your toe is bad. They have that one thing in common. If you think that makes them equal, then that is your problem, and not mine.
Thank you for taking a stand against evil
This is vile and disgusting. Thank you for standing up and speaking out. I just gained a whole new level of respect for you.
It’s sick how often these athletes and even more politicians get away with this crap just because they are deemed important

I think the opening ceremony spoke volumes to what the Olympics stands for now.

The metal opening was great. Gojira is a great band, don’t lump them in with whatever other disgusting stuff goes on.
what about the opening?
Ope, we found the triggered christian 😂

Thanks for shining a light on this Mitchell - well said. His actions were reprehensible and we should not tolerate it. Shame on the Olympics for promoting this type of behavior as being okay.
Glad you raised the awareness of this travesty, I had not heard of this and did not follow the Olympics after the vile opening ceremony. I have been inspired by you in power lifting and appreciate you as a man of honor.

not completely. There is stil a lot of fantastic sportsmanship in the Olympics. But this was a great shame, and as Mitch said, it put a taint on this Olympics.
I am shocked I haven't seen this elsewhere before now. You are right, this is not getting the attention it deserves. 14 months is downright disgusting. the court system has already failed that little girl. There are freaks out there who want to remove the age of consent and it not just a tiny group. They are now calling them minor attracted persons instead of pedophiles. Thanks for speaking up.
It's insane that he got such a small time, and apparently the girl got addicted because of that abuse
What the hell is happening??? That´s heinous 🤮
Appreciate you using your platform for this one, big guy. He’s a monster and everyone should know it.
Agree 100%. Thanks for shining a light on this so more people are aware.
I'm Dutch and I didn't know this guy. Absolutely outrageous. This guy deserves a place only in Hell and jail.
In the US, jail is a transitional space, and prison is the permanent one. I mean you can still spend years in jail, but prison is where you go after you've done the whole court spiel, and sentencing.
@@gibbsm Thanks for the explanation.

Thanks Mitch. 100% agree. This stuff is vile.
Massive respect for putting yourself out there to speak about this. We need more well known figures to have your courage 💪 💪
Honestly it's the only time in sports where I think booing is warranted. Such a slap in the face to protecting children.
If he had actually done time then sure, but this guy didn't even get a punishment as far as I'm concerned.

Thank you for this post. I've seen a lot of controversies and drama from these Olympics, but I had not heard of this very real and disgusting issue.
Thank you. As the athlete and a person you are, I applaud you for putting this video out calling this shit out.
agreed, he shouldn't have been allowed to compete.
I heard about this, but thought it was too crazy to be true, hearing the story from someone I respect. This is actually crazy. How did he only get 13 months? And why are they acting like nothing happened? Absolutely disgusting
Progressive justice systems
He didn't get 13 months, the Netherlands just didn't continue his sentence, probably cause he was connected.
This is outrageous, shame on the Olympics

That's like saying rape is OK and that's a major problem
How is it saying rape is okay? He served jail time. That's the result of the UK saying it was not okay what he did.

You mean people being upset that and actual man beat the shit out of an actual woman. Yea, we're mad about that too.
RIGHT! I'm so tired of people being surprised that a boxing athlete has muscles, while there's a fucking pedo in the Olympics, where 14 year Olds are competing

Thank you for this. I still can't fathom how he managed to get into the olympics, and the fact that his teammate was defending him about the crowd's reaction.
Thank you for speeking up!!!
Yet, bringing him in got the world talking...so that is a positive. It shows what the far left woke mind virus is capable of doing.
That boxer has XY chromosome that makes him a man if he were using test instead of other hormones we would call that doping. Enjoy your delusional BS.
It’s not just him that sickens me, it’s everyone who helped him get there.
So so disgusting, 13 months for that crime is pure sick. Life in prison, should of been given. The fact he is even allowed to compete in ANY athletics is pathetic. Great video Mitch in bringing more eyes onto this.
