A good front row playing in middle pack team is about 125.000 to 250.0000 € a year plus accomodation, some of the very top guys (internationals mostly) can make about 500.000€ a year.

    The other factor is strongman doesnt have nearly as much pay off as it does comoared to the inestments of food, wear and tear, needing special gear to train with, supportive gear, and peds. Ive seen strongmen like eddie saying if you can force feed yourself like 6000-10000 calories a day dont even bother

    • @prgnify
      @prgnify 5 днів тому

      Yes, when he compared to a bouncer - yes travelling and uncertainty are big factors like he rightfully stated, but as a bouncer you can invest as little as you want in gear/PEDs, blood-work, and etc. Aside from training, uniform, developing skills, stressful nights and all that, you are a big guy who wants to be big and can be as big as you want. Eddie for example knew that in order to win WSM he needed to get as big as he COULD - which is completely different and he probably spent more than 50k that year on food alone (corrected for inflation, as food this days is like, twice the price as in 2017).
      Then of course you have people like Hooper, who didn't need to put on as much mass as Eddie did, so he eats like, 60% if not less, than 2017 Eddie.

    • @jd9119
      @jd9119 День тому +1

      Most people can't afford to eat 10,000 calories a day. That's a lot of money and if you have a wife and kids that can be too expensive for a lot of people to maintain.

    the money is definitely not in the prize winnings its sponsors, ad revenue and sponsorships. You get into sports to make a name, build a brand and get sponsors and then do side jobs like coaching or merch to diversify income because competing isn't going to last forever.

  • @espenstoro
    @espenstoro 5 днів тому +4

    Puts it into perspective when you consider that a strongman eats way more than the average person, has potentially significant expenses with physical therapy and all health related things (including the not so healthy parts of it). Some need to book two seats on planes and do extra expensive things because they're too big for how society is designed. Not the greatest hourly rate for the "average" world class athlete, there's a lot of time invested.

    Strongman has grown so much in just the 4 years I've followed it, and it continues to keep going in the right direction. That being said, I feel like the prize money needs to be doubled (at the very least) in order to get more competitors serious about the sport. I know that won't just magically happen. The sport needs to basically grow 3-4 times what is now to cover that kind of cost. But until that happens, the top 30 in the world won't be as good as they could be, IMHO 🤷‍♂️

      It's not really that reasonable when you factor in the cost of their PEDs and food bills. Eating 6-10k calories per day IS very expensive.

    Mahomes contract was 10 years 500 million, still insane but he is no only the 9th highest paid QB in the NFL.

    I was wondering the difference between winning Americas strongest man, Canadas strongest man, Icelands strongest etc what the monetary difference might be there?

    Dont forget WSM also attracts the bigger sponsers than Arnold's, Rogue and Shaw. Sponsers dont know the other comps

    Hey Mitch! Do the promoters pay for your travel and hotels?

  • @peartreedu

    While the 5th place strongman only earns as much as a bouncer, a bouncer doesn't receive sponsorship or any other perks of being a public athlete. You mentioned this at the beginning of your video, Mitch. I think it's fair to say that it isn't just about how good you are in Strongman, but how good you are in business and self promotion. Eddie Hall is a case in point. While he's an excellent strongman, there are better than him in terms of strongmen careers. Yet, he really knows how to market himself.

    Really interesting figures. But what does it cost you to stay competitive. $60k isn't much of it costs you $50k for food, supplements and other training costs.

    realistically, the best i see the sport evolving over the next few years is that i could see giants live expanding a little and giving the same opportunities that are currently available to 20ish guys to 30-40 guys. i dont think the big comps will change much. maybe rogue will stop hosting because they get too much negativity that it isnt worth it when they are paying so much out of pocket

    Thor and Brian would be locks, second row. Anything from 6.6 to 7 ft play this position. Rugby union is far bigger than LEAGUE too. In union the top like you earn around 1 million euro a year excluding sponsorships,endorsements. So you would do well in this sport.

    The money is in the endorsements and other stuff. Cbum does one show a year for 50k and yet he is a multi millionaire already before 30.

    My toxic trait is watching videos like this, as a 160 pound man and thinking I would ever be able to even place 5th in strongman lol

    If WSM was live streamed and not some random show months later would probably help pay the winner a bit more…

    You have to play in college to get drafted into the nfl though and they won't even look at you if you're over 30 ... inwould in a heart beat but people retire at 32 in the nfl...
