Aquapel Application

- I am not being paid to endorse Aquapel. I am putting it on Sally, my daily and RCR's camera car. Aquapel steams and smells when it goes on but it is supposed to last much longer than RainX.

That's one hell of a tampon.
i cracked up so hard
+Mr. Tickles So did it.
😂
Definitely thought this was a product to be kept in the bathroom cabinet from the thumbnail.
Me too
I thought it was a pad lol
I thought it was tooth whitening
I've been using Aquapel on my car for over 7 years and it's absolutely fantastic. Lasts for a very long time and if you find a cheap supplier, make sure you apply it on all you car's windows including the side mirrors with what's left of an applicator. It creates a chemical reaction with glass so using it on plastic won't do anything.
"Don't set it on paint"
Sets it on lawn mower paint...
I used to be in the auto parts business, this product was developed in the 90's by PPG for Boeing, to treat the windshields of passenger jets. It works by filling in all the micro pores in the glass. It was originally marketed under the name Visionblade, and it took about 5 years for STP to develop a delivery system that was safe for consumers to use. They developed the glass ampule in the plastic case, but it was about 5 times bigger and cost about 20 bucks. The price was its biggest reason for failing. A couple of other company's have tried to market it under different names.
Tells us about how toxic it is. Doesn't wear gloves.
Seriously... where are all the preparation instructions? Aren't we supposed to use a specific mask when applying this product?
I posted an excerpt from the MSDS on a separate comment….
inb4 Mr Regular owns Aquapel
Aquapel gambling sites!
you're literally cancer... stfu
H3H3 Mr. Regular Exposed!
Deception, Lies and Aquapel
The best part about Aquapel is that once it wears off 6 months down the road it makes your vision worse than without it, and you can't get it off without a very specific glass polish.
And you're not going to tell us what that polish is?
Any cerium oxide based glass polish
Then do it every 4 months?
Aaaah ... i did rain x last year . And I haven’t done it again . And now it’s even worse . Now I know why
Nope, mine was great for few years and my windshield became as original by itself 🤷🏼♀️
Yard man is still alive!
I bet that tire still leaks
Yard Man Squad!
The battery hasnt held a charge since the *_CLINTON ADMINSITRATION_*
Some of them mowers tring to impress you that they have 15 inch cutter
I have to keep my hand here on the throttle, which isn't a throttle, it's kind of a drive thing, and when I push it all the way it wants to *_MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMHHHHHHHH_*
This product was originally available in stores as the STP "Visionblade" in the late '90's. It was too expensive, so it didn't sell well. I have started using it back then and ever since. It was originally developed by PPG Industries, the same company that originally made OEM windshield glass. You cannot get a better product than this to help the rain bead off of your windshield and easily lasts a year (yes, at least a year). It actually bonds to the glass and will not evaporate off after time (it does, however, eventually wear off). I recently bought a 6-pack on ebay and gave it out to all family members. I do not work for the company, but I am a Mechanical Engineer.
What happens after it wears off? Somebody mentioned that it makes the glads very difficult to see through and takes some special chemical to remove it.
The last step in the instructions for applying it are to completely buff it off; it takes more than one pass with the cloth to do that because it's a little like trying to wipe a light oil (like WD-40) off of your windshield. But after you do that, you will once again have your crystal clear windshield back and never know it's on there. The real advantage is the way it forces the water to bead up on your windshield so your wipers hardly do any work clearing the remainder (also, starting at 50-60 mph, you may not even need the wipers, and the wipers may impede your vision more than the raindrops which are now flying off your windshield). And after its application, you never see it again, there is no remaining residue left on your windshield, and over time (a long time), you will one day realize it has worn off. I don't understand why someone would try to use a special chemical to remove something they can't see; this will invisibly and microscopically bond to the glass (not just sit on the surface like a coating)..that's why it lasts so long where others don't.
If you smoked it does it repel water from the inside out?
I'm skeptical of a product that can damage everything immediately next to the surface it's intended to be used on.
Engine oil, winter grade windshield fluid, blinker fluid..
Rain x is also bad for paint and plastic.
7 years, and a dang good video. Digging the banter and humor with what would otherwise be pretty awfully boring
Living in the UK this product is a godsend, you don't even need to use the wipers if you're doing over 60. awesome stuff.
Good to see Silicone Sally getting some love. Poor thing is probably feeling neglected ever since Vagabond Falcon came along.
Why didn't you test it with your garden hose? The suspense is killing me.
Maybe he lives in an area with hard water and he doesn't want spots all over the car
+Liam S okay a bottle of water? I'm not picky.
Many people noticed that Rain X increases the glare of lights at night, and a half-windshield test of it on a new car of mine proved it. I'm always interested in hearing more about such products, but get turned right off when the 'tester' doesn't test it on half a windshield, first, to be able to compare glare increases over the course of a few weeks' night drives.
I don't think that was the goal of the video, it was rather a tutorial....
Claybar the window first next time! Gets the glass perfectly (I mean PERFRCTLY) clean and flat. It'll make this stuff last forever and your wipers will work better, even without the Aquapel, cause they sit perfectly flush.
Yep, can get so much out of a clean and 'clear' window.
You can just do ALL the same stuff you do to paint to your glass, too... including buffing it with Meguiar's mirror finish or whatever
+Martin Espinoza I use 24 grit sandpaper to clean my windscreen and paint.
+Mel Laknanurak I use dollar store toilet paper on my car. Makes 24 grit look like microfiber.
If anyone is familiar with the quick lube shop, Oil Can Henry's, when I worked there we sold and applied Aquapel for $15. Start with a squeegee and either Bon-Ami, or Clorox powder and washer fluid. Scrub the winder completely to remove dust and bugs, then turn the defroster on high heat, high blower. It bonds better when the windshield is warm or hot. Crack the applicator, then go vertically, then horizontally. leave the wipers down and don't get it on the blades. Then get a lint or dust free cloth or rag, and buff it in until it disappears. Doing it all correctly should take about 15 mins with one person doing it. It's rated to last six months, depending on weather conditions and how often wiper blades are used. It also prevents ice from sticking and keeps moisture off, so your defrost doesn't have to be used as much. Do not apply to a windshield that has cracks or large chips!
A clean windshield has always done the best job for me.
It lasts up to six months. Your windscreen MUST be perfectly clean before you apply it. Then, you need to apply it in a square pattern on the driver side first and then follow the wiper blade motion filling in the square driver side half, repeat on the other side. Then you need to wipe off the excess. Make sure the wiper blades are lifted. I apply these at work when bought.
Don't get it on rubber? So you kill the seals around your window?
I think I'll just stick to Rain-X wiper fluid.
Will something like this help with bug-splatter? My exerience has been if I don't catch the bug before last rites are finished then the wipers will do nothing and I'm stuck with it until I can get to a squeegee and GRINDGRINDGRIND...
Do not wait. Wipe it immediately. Even then, sometimes it hazes anyway and takes a lot of buffing. But it is the best hydrophobic treatment I have ever tried. 6 months of no wipers needed nice up over 35 mph.
Put aquapel on my car last September and it was still working although not quite as well up until a week or two ago when I reapplied it. Great stuff
I also find aquapel more effective for longer time then rain x. Much longer. The only reason I don't buy aquapel is even with low online prices. The per application cost is still more then rain x.
I get big ass bottle of rain x for $6.. last years for 1 car. And I just apply it every month. Both aquapel and rain x work the best during the first two week anyways. With my car I will stick rith rain x bi monthly and rain x washer fluid.
I was once tasked with putting this stuff on 10 vehicles at work. I almost died. But damn, it really does a great job repelling water - better than RainX for sure.
Just bought two cases of this. Thanks for your video.
Hey look, it's the YAAAAAARD MAAAAAAAN!!
What's the point of these rain repellents? Does it just make the water slide off or something? I just don't understand (bc I've never used it and am ignorant, so please enlighten me) why you need this when you have wipers. I could understand more for a back window in a sedan or side windows but what's the benefit of putting it on the windshield?
It causes the water to quickly bead up and fly off rather than forming a blurry sheet on the glass.
Allows you to not even use the wipers during a rain storm.
Rain-x is fucking amazing. I can probably see better in the rain at freeway speeds with my wipers off than you can with you wipers on. At slow speeds, as the wiper passes the glass is virtually dry and streakless.
I believe the Rain-X windshield washer fluid might apply itself just as well as the original R-X treatment. Never tried that.
You should get one of those old GM wagons for a camera car. I mean, you've got a rear facing back seat with a window that goes down, it would make the perfect camera car for driving shots.
I''ll have to pick up some of that stuff though. Use it for my car... or poison someone that I don't like! That was a joke NSA or CSIS or whatever.
What does it do?
I've been using this for a few years. Works great! I only need to apply it twice a year, versus 4-5 times for Rain-x. Can't say I've ever noticed any smoke or fumes, though. 🙂 Smells more like isopropyl alcohol to me. I used to wipe it with a clean towel at the end, but this time I tried using the instructions from their website. Spread it with the applicator, smooth it out with a paper towel, then let it sit for about 15-20 minutes. Ends up clear. Works just as well with less work. I''ll keep using it.
Did it work well?
I can't seem to find your update video if you have one. I've been subscribed to you for a few years so I trust you over the other videos/UA-camrs.
Which hydrophobic application is best hydrophobic application?
Question, how is this better than just waxing your windshield?
I never got rain repellants. The beading just always seemed obnoxious to me, and it really didn't work well with just light mist scenarios. And then you can NEVER. GET. IT. OFF.
The best stuff I ever used was from a vendor's booth from the Chicago auto show about 20 years ago. It was a day-glow orange stick of waxy-like substance that you you work into the glass. Never could find that product after then. My guess is that he was bought out and the product squashed.
Sounds like you've got your House Wren well-tuned!
I use the rain-x stuff that you put into your washer bottle instead, because when I put rain-x on I can never see anything
Sounds like gallons and gallons of this shit leaking into the environment is no problem! Where does every empty container go that has trace amounts of that crap? ...
Still love your work, and appreciate all the free entertainment you have gave me.
Thanks and have a great weekend =)
this was a product we sold at my old job. takes a lot of buffing but I found it worked pretty good for night time driving. but on a bright and rainy day it was more annoying with all the beads of water intensifying the light into my eyes. and if it gets on you wipers. it's time for new ones
I'd love an update on this stuff as i've been big into rainx for a while.
I can say from experience that this stuff works *REALLY* well. It doesn't cause a fogging effect after your wipers pass as badly as RainX and it lasts about 4-6 months before you have to re-apply, while RainX loses most of its effect within a month. Expensive but worth it. No, I'm not an Aquapel shill.
Nah...I'm just gonna keep the old rainy windshield, thank you very much...
coward
@@pubbiehive :-P
Yeah I would just use Rainx I’m interested in this but it seems extremely toxic just to touch. Not that rainx is good for ya but this in particular seems bad.
@@thetechlibrarian It's not as bad as it seems, just wear gloves and do it in a well ventilated area.
Have you tried Glaco? That stuff is the best water repellent I ever used
I see the regular mower from regular mower reviews
YARD MAN.
2:36 oh look, it's the Yard Man.
So what are the wipers for then?
I want to remove aquapel from my windscreen, but it's really difficult. What chemical should I use to remove it from my windscreen? It gives annoying haze in the rain.
Cerium Oxide Glass Polish. look up a video to see how to use it.
I love you, dad
Hey guys I've had a dream of becoming a mainstream motovlogger. Yes, I know it won't happen quick but I'm unable to make videos this week, but when I return if I had a thousand or close to subs I'll do whatever you guys want!!!
I find Rain X washer fluid to be a good remedy for low maintenance and good enough performance.
I thought it said Apoquel. Does Mr. Regular's car have skin allergies?
lol, so you put the used tampon thing on the painted surface of your lawnmower for storage. Right after saying it can't come in contact with paint
What I do is put car wax on the windshield and buff it out. Works much longer than rainx.
I do the same thing, works much better than any of these products.
any good Brazilian carnauba wax will do fine
ChrisFix has a video on this on his channel
+cribbins I personally use the Turtle wax stuff. Not spray wax though. The stuff that comes in a tin.
+royalmac1011 it would last even longer if you didn't use carnauba wax and used a synthetic instead like meguiars ultimate. Carnauba wax doesn't last long
just waxing the windshield with normal wax works way better then rainx, i dont know about this tho.
Fogs really bad when it's humid though.
+dat boi oh shit waddup
Can you try and review a K car? That would be amazing.
My neighbors applied this to the windows facing my house. They think that will stop me.
I was expecting him to say "I licked my fingers afterwards, but probably shouldn't have".
I use car wax, lasts for a long time, cheap as hell, easy to apply. Pretty much any kind will do.
Do you know how to remove this? My wipers vibrate with this, and I'm 100% sure it's because of Aquapel. I just really want to get it off and I've tried so many things and nothing works. :(
Have you tried glass polish?
Teflon clear coating, nuff said. Or, each time you see rain, you apply hydrophobic spray on the windshield. Either works, the teflon coating is a lot more expensive tho, but it lasts five or six rag wipes (neither resists the wiper blades).
I use Turtle Wax Clear-Vue on all my windows, pretty cheap and effective. Doesn´t last as long as Aquapel or similar but i usually just apply it whenever i wash my car.
Lasts for like 5-6 applications atleast
With great power, comes great responsibility.
One must adapt, to survive...
Great video!
you are suppose to squeeze it and shake it to allow the chemicals to mix. its two chemicals separated until you crack it and they combined to create final product to apply on the glass.
Come on, an affiliate Amazon link would have been ok. Wtf you make some money I don't have to google anything
I think he just wants to make it clear he isn't sponsored.
The Amazon affiliate link doesn't imply he was sponsored in any way. All it is is amazon sending kickback to people who send customers their way to buy any of their products. Its really just a referral program.
Canuckrz I am aware of that... but many people interpret purchase links as sponsorship.
Plus he isn't actually even recommending anyone buy the product yet. He applied it, he very well could post a video later in the week warning against people buying it.
amazing product
What's your daily, the Falcon?
I just use good ol' wax, it works way better than Rain-X. I'm interested to try this though.
Does anyone remember when rain-x used to last a year?? I find I have to re apply my rain-x every month these days. Maybe it's just me I dunno
Reminds me of the original Rain-X applicator from the early 90s... same crack-open felt applicator, stank, etc...
@Regularcars glad to see you using this. I also previously used Rain-X but Aquapel forms a chemical bond to the glass as opposed to Rain-X which just forms a silicone barrier. When applied correctly to a thoroughly cleaned windshield Aquapel can work well for nearly a year. I found I had to reapply Rain-X every 4 months or so. In fact, driving at over 45mph with Aquapel you honestly don't even need to use your wipers so they tend to last quite a bit longer as well. I don't know how some people can see out of their window when it's very dirty inside and out and they're not using any product to help repel the rain. the difference with using a product or not is night and day, or should I say rain or shine 😉
does it works?
If you look closer at the label it's marked "Brain Repellant" NOT "Rain Repellant".
It's a poisonous neurotoxin.
Oooo, the green lawnmower
Oh shit... He's still got the yard man XD
Love you man
So when's the John Deer RCR coming?
I think it already did! Go wayyyyy back in the archives
They already have one
Oh wow, missed that one!
I prefer a Lamborghini R8 RCR.
car hacks from Daaaaaad
well im definitely taping off my windshield molding and lifting my wiper blades
Aquapel blows rain-x out of the water. That shit lasts for months too
He should ditch the armor all products on his shelf.
Petroleum distillates on vinyl and rubber is so fail.
What do you use?
+MrTheHillfolk agreed, armor all is terrible for interiors and tires, I use a plant based product for my interior and tires called eco-touch. I'm not an enviro-pussy or anything I just like the finish that all of their products leave on the surface, it's not sheeny, it's just clean and hydrated.
Thanks. ^^
+Andrew McGrath
I use griots garage products for car care.
They leave the garbage out.
They cost a bunch more but well worth it in the long run and won't harm your plastic.
final? i want monthly Falcon updates!
what is this stuff for
It's that time of the month for Sally again.
RCR DID you fuck up that window by not having a towel in time to buff it up how about an update on it
Rub it on the tyres for extra grip on the drag strip.
How much is this stuff going to piss off the guy that comes to do the chip repair on your windscreen?
'Cus they, well their resin stuff, really didn't like sticking to the rainex...
hey I'm in Baltimore if you want to do a review on my 05 Cadillac 2005 Cadillac Cts-v
Umm. gloves?
I spy the YARD MAN.
3:05 THE YARD MAN IS ALIVE!!!1!!111
THE YARDMASTER!!!!!!!!!!
protip, use colinite wax to do this. it last much longer than anything and smells nifty.
"SmellTube." With your propensity for breaking wind on camera, I sincerely hope this does not become a thing...
Read the MSDS! Hey, I have bought some and it seems to work well, but you need to take precautions. From the MSDS sheet available on line

… “Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection. Avoid breathing mist or vapour.
Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area.
Wash thoroughly after handling.”
what why am i only seeing this now btw i aquapel my volvo v40 over 100kph i dont even bother with window wipers this stuff is amazing i did it 3 months ago and its still going strong but you got to install it correct and dry it off buff it up proper.
i did the full car and by the time i got to polishing off the back window my rag was to damp to finish the job properly to buff the glass ... bad idea i had to buy there recommended product to remove it plus i bought another aquapel for it....
seriously though just do the FRONT WINDOW DON'T DO THE REST. AQUAPEL IS AMAZING GO BUY IT
i thought this was a lube review to fit the nasty aspect of this channel
and technically it lubricates the windshield...
best stuff on the market.
