I love watching their early videos. It let’s you see how the quality of their shows has improved, and yet still remains fun and fresh as when they started. Keep up the great work, Jakub and Yuri!
I went out and bought this exact car (albeit a white 2018 model) largely because of this video. Never thought I would buy a Honda Civic until I saw this and went to drive one, but everything you guys said is absolutely true and I love it so far. Nice to be averaging 5.5L/100km on 87 octane when premium is nearing $1.80/L here in Victoria BC. It's sad when my VW GTI is become less appealing as a daily driver for that reason, but I'll keep it as a weekend car anyway. Love the channel, thanks so much guys.
That day-night transition at 3:20 is just sick! How did you guys even pull off that trick? I mean you need to be in the exact same angle on both situations to make it work, unless there's something I missed.
Guys you dont need VTEC if you have a TURBO. The car breathes well at high RPM because the Turbo is ramming the air fuel in, dont need another cam profile for high rpm
You guys convinced me enough to buy this as my new daily driver! I'm lovin' it so far, even though I'm downgrading from a GTI. Very enjoyable reviews. Keep up the great work! :D
Lawrence Ip man I'm with you. The GTI is more comfortable unless you unzip the seats and add some padding for lumbar and if you have electric seats. I hope the reliability is good in the future. I added a performance muffler and 60mm pipe so breaths better above 2500 RPM. How do you compare them?
Great vid guys, i subbed while I was shopping for my new car and settled on this. I've had it about 5 weeks now and am pretty happy. Keep up the channel, your filming style is great. I still find myself watching car reviews several nights per week on your channel after purchasing my new car and i wouldn't even call myself a car guy. Cheers from Ottawa!
US version of LX doesn't get the big touchscreen infotainment system. I would actually like the non-touchscreen system better because it has a volume knob.
Yeah, I just got the 2018 LX, I love the minimalistic no frills infotainment, but the clutch and shifting are definitely more crisp and short in the Sport, plus those muffler tips...
The manual is almost impossible to find. My wife wants me out of my 05 S2000, but with only 60k miles on the car, I don't think he Civic is the answer -- although more practical.
Ahh, back to the pre-5k subs gang. Lol! Thanks to the civic hatchback, I have been a loyal subscriber! Glad you guys have reached 875k within a couple of years as of March 2020. Now it's time for that #1Million!
I know this video is kinda old now, but at around 3:50 you guys start mentioning how it's "still a hatch, but a weird hatch" The proper term for a hatchback like this is a "liftback." I honestly like liftbacks more than hatchbacks. While you can't stack things as high in the trunk, they certainly look sleeker.
so in the states, you can't get the better radio with Android Auto and Apple Carplay with a stick shift in hatchback form without stepping up to to the Type R
For the record VTEC not needed if you have a TURBO. The turbo rams the air fuel mix in at high rpm just fine with just one cam profile, dont need the valves to open longer and deeper like in a normally aspirated VTEC
I have a black sport, cool review. but I'm so much happier with the sport, especially the base radio. I hated the touch screen in my 14 Si, the hatchback is a great buy for the money.
Brake light Warranty Do you live in the U.S? My friend has this Canadian spec LX and he loves the infotainment system, with the driving dynamics as well. Black is the only colour option I would go for the LX model.
Brake light Warranty Hey I also have a Sport in grey because darker colors look better. I redid a lot of things. I drove a '13 SI and really liked it but no hatchback! It sounds quieter. How do you compare them?
I like you guys..your videos are entertaining and as far the filming/editing side of things, you guys are some of the best on UA-cam..as far as car reviews. Much respect!
Hondata flash gains were 30-35 hp on the Sport model! Not bad.. Aesthetically, the Sport hatch is what the overly aggressive looking Type R should have looked like. You can put regular on the Sport model, Honda recommends premium though..
Just test drove the Sport hatch MT two weeks ago and found the acceleration to be surprisingly good with just myself in the vehicle. I wonder if the extra HP would be too much for the FWD w/o a LSD. It would be better when hauling around a bunch of people or if on trips with plenty of cargo.
YasumotoUS this was 9 months ago but yes as owner of a sport, it is a small displacement so doesn't haul full car around well unless you rev it past 3k. This engine likes to rev into midranges especially with a cat back exhaust
Ask any good mechanic w/common sense, and they ALL will tell you that engines w/Turbo should get Premium gas in order to ensure that Turbo remains working properly for a LONG time!...
In later videos they refer to the Civic holding 11 boxes. Yet this is the video where they do the box test and it's with the seats up and it holds 3. I'm assuming the 11 was with the seats down, but I can't find that in any video.
The LX in Canada seems nicer than the LX in the us. We don’t get heated seats base, we have a 5inch non touch audio system with 4 speakers base, and the gauges look much cheaper.
The sport doesn't require premium. It's recommend if you want the extra power. If you don't put premium you'll get the same power as the other non sport 1.5'turbo civics.
great video ! I just put a deposit on this ! I wanted the sport hatch but I like the small wheels for winter driving here and those big 18s would be a target everywhere you park it . Plus Im 58 years old so this toned down one will be fine and it still has the turbo engine ! thanks for making me feel good about my purchase !
Great review. Love the channel. Just got this car. OF course in the States it doesn't come with the Apple Car Play, Google Maps or the heated seats, but it does drive great.
I think less turbo badging on the lower models is better. People buying those probably don't wanna get annoyed by every 16 year old in a mustang or Camaro reving at them at every stoplight
I'm really confused. In the US, the fit sport has the radio that the ex has. The equivalent Civic hatchback sport has the low end lx radio. Honda would have more buyers if they added the ex radio in the sport hatch.
Turns out now that people got mileage on them that it's not a trou ble free engine. Gasoline mixing with oil in bottom block they say. I reaaaaaaly wanted one but the forums full with that problem keeps me away from them
There isn't going to be an Si version of the hatch. Nor do you have to run it on premium, it's the exact same engine. You only have to run it on premium to get the full 180 hp out of the sport.
TheStraightPipes I understand that, I'm just saying it doesn't need premium all the time. because it's exactly the same engine as the other models like LX etc..
TheStraightPipes yeah yo believe what adds the power is the dual exhaust. The exhaust gives more airflow hence the 6 horsepower bump. All turbos get a. It more hp with premium if they use regular normally. My Sonata when I had it was 274 hp and on premium it was 287 and that wasn't even advertised. so I think they are saying use premium because it's the sport model and the engine will run better with a bit more hp and less lag since people will be pushing the sport versions more than the regular ones
Type R in comfort mode = this car, Type R in sport mode = Si, Type R in R+ mode = Type R.... moral of the story, get an R. I know its expensive, don't beat the dead horse. I have had my R 3 weeks to the day coming from 2 years on a 17 Si. The R is the car you want. This car is ~160 horse, the R is! 306 but if you want to get groceries put it in comfort mode and if it wasn't for the styling no one would ever be the wiser.
I got the 2018 hatch sport and I like it. Honestly thought it's lacking on power. I've also never heard the turbo spool up which is disappointing. Really wish the car was louder too.
John Hoang Make sure you get a ram air intake instead of a cold air intake. The CAI is much harder to install and doesn’t make a difference in actual intake temperature due to the turbo routing I believe
Isn't there dual exhausts on the LX? Although hidden, it appears to have a pipe on each side? I've test driven both, the LX feels faster on the 16"wheels.
That day/night transition was SICK.
+Najimu なじむ thanks ;)
I was impressed too!
No Vtecc Chisssss
How’d u get from Najimu to DOODLEZ 💀
I love watching their early videos. It let’s you see how the quality of their shows has improved, and yet still remains fun and fresh as when they started. Keep up the great work, Jakub and Yuri!
literally was about to write this same comment. lol
The original visor test
Nice I'll buy one in 10 years
I have Civic 2010 Hatchback, was gonna say something similar to what you said :D
Lol wonder if they will have carbon build up issues due to direct injection with turbo ... So walnut blast the valves a few times by ten years ?
Ben Fuct? Probably not honestly cuz Honda is known for their engines
I love your guys style Of filming
I went out and bought this exact car (albeit a white 2018 model) largely because of this video. Never thought I would buy a Honda Civic until I saw this and went to drive one, but everything you guys said is absolutely true and I love it so far. Nice to be averaging 5.5L/100km on 87 octane when premium is nearing $1.80/L here in Victoria BC. It's sad when my VW GTI is become less appealing as a daily driver for that reason, but I'll keep it as a weekend car anyway. Love the channel, thanks so much guys.
PGBMK3 totally awesome decisions.....the GTI upkeep can get pricey?? I love GTI comfort and torque.
Bro u don’t 5.5 /100km I am avg 11 😂
Heartbeat ur destroying the gas peddle then😂my 2012 crv gets 10.7l/100km and I only do city and step on that thing lmao
That day-night transition at 3:20 is just sick! How did you guys even pull off that trick? I mean you need to be in the exact same angle on both situations to make it work, unless there's something I missed.
Maybe a camera filter?
Just good timing, camera work and editor effects.
for real i watched t a couple times lol
ND filters can do the trick
Great video! I loved the casual commentary and pointing out random features. A good mix of information and comedy.
+Matt thanks! That's what we're about
...Turbo, NOS, VCRs! Wooooo! LOL!
It’s insane how much the US version of the LX vs the Canadian differ. The Canadian has an insane amount of features that the US doesn’t
Yeah I had to do a double take. The US base model has an ugly small infotainment screen.
2:33 - Shzaam! A two door Hatchback!!!
+Samiur Rahman haha glad you noticed that effect we did ;)
Guys you dont need VTEC if you have a TURBO. The car breathes well at high RPM because the Turbo is ramming the air fuel in, dont need another cam profile for high rpm
I've recently bought the 2017 Honda Civic Sport Touring Hatchback and it's honestly awesome!
Out of all the reviews I've seen on this car this has by far been the most entertaining! Great work! You get a thumbs up!
+Crushed City thanks! We're going for entertainment with a bit of information ;)
I have the same but with 212 hp and a bit more torque ofc (chiptuning) also a 2017 model, it's a great car!
Big Iron what tuner?
James Speer probably Hondata
Very cool to watch this older video...to see where you guys started. Love your videos! Best reviews on UA-cam!
Watch the element review. That was #1
TheStraightPipes awesome! Thanks. I will. I’ve been binging on your videos since discovering your channel a few weeks ago. Love you guys.
+Brandon Davidson awesome, great to hear. Enjoy the Civic!
I’m so happy because I bought this car a month ago and I love it so much and the turbo and 6 speeds makes me love driving with this car
Best car channel. I didn't even know y'all reviewed the normal hatch too.
The manual is almost impossible to find. My wife wants me out of my 05 S2000, but with only 60k miles on the car, I don't think he Civic is the answer -- although more practical.
+tww1491 keep the s2k! Forever!
You still got the S2K??
Keep the s2k as your track day car dude
Don't get rid of the fun car. Too many men regret doing so.
you can find a new wife, but not a new s2k
Ahh, back to the pre-5k subs gang. Lol! Thanks to the civic hatchback, I have been a loyal subscriber! Glad you guys have reached 875k within a couple of years as of March 2020. Now it's time for that #1Million!
Watching this in 2021. Your reviews are so much better now lol
@1:29 Whatever, it’s a Civic. EXACTLY my dude, just enjoy the drive!
I like this car so much. It’s so good at hauling IKEA furniture with the Hatchback
Your reviews are so much better now. You've come a long way brothers. Btw the sport hatch runs on regular 87 also. Premium recommend but not required.
I know this video is kinda old now, but at around 3:50 you guys start mentioning how it's "still a hatch, but a weird hatch"
The proper term for a hatchback like this is a "liftback." I honestly like liftbacks more than hatchbacks. While you can't stack things as high in the trunk, they certainly look sleeker.
Yuri's Random burp has me laughing too hard 😂
Watching in 2019!!!
You guys have matured a lot🔥
so in the states, you can't get the better radio with Android Auto and Apple Carplay with a stick shift in hatchback form without stepping up to to the Type R
Don't u guys have the SI version?
I dig it, the turbo alone can open up the doors for eco tunes or more performance with bolt ons and tunes!
Zcypot just with a tune guys are getting 245 hp and 240 tq
Our friends in the states should just but their cars up here. Get the 7 inch screen on the base model, save on exchange...
For the record VTEC not needed if you have a TURBO. The turbo rams the air fuel mix in at high rpm just fine with just one cam profile, dont need the valves to open longer and deeper like in a normally aspirated VTEC
Wow what a beautiful black Honda Civic. I like the extra room of the hatchback.
that's what I call a short and sweet review. good job boys
+Michael Bourassa sweet thanks! That's what we're all about
Honestly you guys helped me find the car I'm getting by the time I have my down payment
I have a black sport, cool review. but I'm so much happier with the sport, especially the base radio. I hated the touch screen in my 14 Si, the hatchback is a great buy for the money.
+Brake light Warranty android auto is great. Any other infotainment always sucks no matter what manufacturer. This one is good
TheStraightPipes I just like the standard radio, less distraction while driving. And I've heard a lot of guys complaining about software issues.
This video made me buy this car, except in the EX trim
The Sport model does call for premium but its not required. Regular unleaded is allowed in sport as well.
damn brah nice day night transition... looks completely real
Wow LX model is pretty dope. Just need to make it go Braaaap!
+Dan C all the braaaaaps
But how JDM would it look with a 4" exhaust and dumped brah? Then you be Braappin!
+Dan C would need to cut the bumper but definitely brappin
FYI Honda Japan doesn't make Civic for a while...
I like you guys..your videos are entertaining and as far the filming/editing side of things, you guys are some of the best on UA-cam..as far as car reviews. Much respect!
Okay this is the most exiting comercial i had ever watch
Really liked your guy's review! This was awesome, informative, and funny!
+Eugene Kim awesome thanks for watching and commenting! Appreciate it
Just bought a white LX hatchback automatic a couple of weeks ago and I love it. Like the guys in video sad, it's a very fun car to drive.
Long M only fun if manual ;-)
Hondata flash gains were 30-35 hp on the Sport model! Not bad.. Aesthetically, the Sport hatch is what the overly aggressive looking Type R should have looked like. You can put regular on the Sport model, Honda recommends premium though..
Just test drove the Sport hatch MT two weeks ago and found the acceleration to be surprisingly good with just myself in the vehicle. I wonder if the extra HP would be too much for the FWD w/o a LSD. It would be better when hauling around a bunch of people or if on trips with plenty of cargo.

I like the sun visor tests that you guys always do. Your reviews are excellent. well done.
+Oldmansland1 Thanks!
Just bought this car and I love it!!
Ask any good mechanic w/common sense, and they ALL will tell you that engines w/Turbo should get Premium gas in order to ensure that Turbo remains working properly for a LONG time!...
have this car, love it. the upgrade gas was the main reason I didn't get the sport. You can get exhaust tips so you can see them from behind.
great vid gents. The colder the day the more you boys are on fire with you chat.
Love my 2017 Civic EX hatchback. Honda did a great job!
In later videos they refer to the Civic holding 11 boxes. Yet this is the video where they do the box test and it's with the seats up and it holds 3. I'm assuming the 11 was with the seats down, but I can't find that in any video.
wow your videos have changed quite a bit in the last year or so. love how all the main aspects of your vidoes have carried through though
+Fadic 4 yes, correct. We were just going by the given marketing information since they market it as 180hp
Glad I found this channel
great video !
+Rick Danner sweet, enjoy it! It has the exact same engine as the sport. So if you put in premium fuel you get 180hp, just like the sport ;)
hey man I bought the Sport - $19500.00
+Rick Danner great deal
had to pay tax and all that so the whole thing came to about 21K and I got a manual !
+Rick Danner right on
Awesome video guys, it was super helpful for me because I'm actually looking to purchase this exact vehicle. You guys are awesome
+shalyn garcia perfect! Glad we could help
I love that its called earth dreams 😂❤️❤️
Love the burp...and the car. May just get one.
I AM getting one. I am mere days away from leasing a 2019 grey Civic Hatchback LX manual. 😀 💕
This video was awesome! New subscriber
Thanks! New video every week... at least that's the goal!
Nice, quick review. I like it!
These hatches deserve an SI badge
Haha! Going back in time to see how Yuri and Jakub got started! Visor test - “does the thing do the thing” 😂😂😂
Quarantine got me all the way 3 years ago.
Loved the video. I Love to watch My car from outside with good cam angles. Thank you very much. 🙏❤️👍👏
Another great one guys!
+Jesse Carmichael thanks!
Great review. Love the channel. Just got this car. OF course in the States it doesn't come with the Apple Car Play, Google Maps or the heated seats, but it does drive great.
I got a 2019 and I got none of the features , no touch screens or nothing
Great video guys. Love this version but got to admit - my favorite is the hatchback - up until Spring of course!!
+The Honda Steve need that Type R!!!
unique review. love my black lx!
I think less turbo badging on the lower models is better. People buying those probably don't wanna get annoyed by every 16 year old in a mustang or Camaro reving at them at every stoplight
awesome video! Can't wait to buy on of this!
+vasil gang! kotlar gang! Thanks! Great car. Don't forget to subscribe :)
I'm really confused. In the US, the fit sport has the radio that the ex has. The equivalent Civic hatchback sport has the low end lx radio. Honda would have more buyers if they added the ex radio in the sport hatch.

There isn't going to be an Si version of the hatch. Nor do you have to run it on premium, it's the exact same engine. You only have to run it on premium to get the full 180 hp out of the sport.
+IronZombie yes but we're going by the stated numbers in advertising because that's what the manufacturer states
+Fiend Busa yep I believe it, just going by what Honda advertises publicly
+Fiend Busa they have to sell different models somehow! Haha
Type R in comfort mode = this car, Type R in sport mode = Si, Type R in R+ mode = Type R.... moral of the story, get an R. I know its expensive, don't beat the dead horse. What's your thoughts on the 2019 sport hatchback? Anyone have one?
I have a 2020 Sport Hatch and Absolutely love it!
I have one and I love it.
...how many boxes does it hold?!
how differ this car from the sport manual 6 speed! i love it because it comes with touchscreen radio with navi, how about the price !
Nice review` nice guys!
That must have been a Heller joint you guys smoked that day!
I own this exact car... it’s amazing.
It is I just got one
i have this car and i have exhaust tips and it looks amazing, noticed yall said you couldnt put them on, you defenitely can! :)
+dalton how??
Type R became a catalog model in Japan.
wait where did the rear door handle go at 2:34?
+hypno159753 the entire rear door disappeared. We did it in after effects to see what it would look like as a coupe hatch haha
Those black pods on the bumpers I can't tell if it is coming or going!
My car is UK registered as CIVIC SPORT VTEC.
I got the 2018 hatch sport and I like it. Honestly thought it's lacking on power. I've also never heard the turbo spool up which is disappointing. Really wish the car was louder too.
Get a ram air intake! Makes the turbo sound come out a ton! I got mine for around $180
Do you know were I can get the air intake ?
John Hoang i got mine off Amazon haha. I have a video of it on my channel if you want to hear it.
John Hoang Make sure you get a ram air intake instead of a cold air intake. The CAI is much harder to install and doesn’t make a difference in actual intake temperature due to the turbo routing I believe
Oh okie I wi check it out now you know
Made in the UK so import duties apply as it's a non NAFTA car. 6% duties in Canada and of course tax on tax on duties.
Made in Canada
Isn't there dual exhausts on the LX? Although hidden, it appears to have a pipe on each side? I've test driven both, the LX feels faster on the 16"wheels.
how many boxes??????????????
DNP. Damn nice production.
Thanks Danny!!
Earth dreams just sounds like a new Coldplay song/record
Sport can run lower grade gas just w/ reduced hp
Will you guys review the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek and the 2018 Honda Fit. (Both available in manual)
Great review! Should I get this instead of Jazz/Fit?
+At Mi it depends on your budget and what you want from the car. The Civic will be a better and more fun car overall. The fit is a great car as well
these guys crack me up
On the steering wheel on the volume u can slide your finger u dont need to press the button
cheap plastic door sidings is the best....they dont crack and very easy to clean.....
+EvendimataE they had a fabric cover with no padding
I don't think he meant armrests but yes the armrests are pitiful. I redid mine easily taking panels off
