Probably just because of ring or pinion gear wear I’d imagine, would be nice for a car that races to have a rebuilt one on the shelf ready to rock as well
@@Techedship54I'm guessing the OEM boot broke, it happens. But instead of fixing the boot, they installed a cheap Chinese half axle. They never last so it's rinse and repeat forever.

just a tip when you use torque adapters with torque wrenches make sure they are 90° from the head of the torque wrench, keep the fastener in line with the drive square of the torque wrench. When you use it as you did in the video with the torque adapter farther out than the wrench youre effectively adding length to the wrench and tightening more than indicated.
Good tip. The counterargument is that the difference is probably less than an inch and is probably within the engineered tolerance of error or very close, as well as the fact that often if you’re using a crow’s foot you just don’t have the space to put it at 90 degrees. Ultimately though, you’re totally right and it is good knowledge to have
Holy crap that was a ton of metal shavings on that magnet and a new set of gears should not be producing anything more than a slight cover of dust on the magnet after the break in!
Too now. But I saw a trick that a guy used a ratchet strap hook and pry bar to help pull the bushings. The part was still on the car though. But brass punch or hammer could work. Maybe a puller.
What’s the go with using welded diffs instead of putting a mini spool into your diff which is much stronger, more reliable and won’t ever snap like a welded diff would
Hey is there any chance that you would like to try ultra light cars from the 60s like a Lotus 23 b and use a KTM 1290 semi drysump engine in it and do track day or drift events. Or a Ginetta G4. With a Motos v4 engine or a Honda k24 turbo.
Less about changing the diff but installing the poly bushes for better power delivery. Plus having a spare diff you can just throw in at the track is handy
@@klo1679 That's the real reason the Ford 9-in rear end is so popular in Motorsports in less than an hour. You can pop out the third member and have a completely different differential instead of gears ready to go
Old diff looked great.
Yeah! That thing wasn’t going anywhere 😂
Looks like mine except this ones intact
Women and making thing difficult😂
The CV joints didn’t look very good
Drifted my old celica from 74 with 86 bhp and open diff thru wet weather thru all corners lol.. people now dont know how to drift cars bunch of noobs
Jesus christ the old welded diff looks crazy i love it
So you replaced a welded diff that has held up for 4 years with another welded differential 😂
Judging by the appearance, the CV joints didn’t.

That rust on the ring gear and snot welds means the setup is perfect
Respect for her line of work. I bet her ambition was to become a professional mechanic when she was a kid. Great job keep it up!
Don’t lie to us! You welded that diff!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😊
Drive through car washes with undercarriage clean are absolutely a go to before any suspension or drivetrain work.
Too cool, always neat seeing something difficult made trivial.
for those diff bushings get a cheap air hammer and save your shoulders 100%worth it

Wow ! Lot a work 🤟👋

Wait, you cleaned the new dif before assembly, why were there SO many metal shards in it after running oil through it?
You are so dreamy❤

Something about the drive shaft bolts that are the hardest bolts to take off 😅
Nice.
They do make mini spools that are fairly cheap and don’t require welding.
You should Get a veilside bodykit it looks cool 😎

Try a full spool never likely gonna snap and just replaces the whole centre the a solid bit of metal suited for your cars diff
Awesome knowledgeable mechanic
How did you come to that conclusion?
No

Ooooof and using last summer for the song. Check out baby powder by Jenevieve 😊
Would it not be better (less overall and spinning mass) if you replaced the diff completely and just run a straight through axle?
Awesome или как мы слышим асум
Real question is why not just run a spool instead of a welded diff?
Have you tried a locker?
The old one looks fine except looks like they forgot shielding or had their machine running too low voltage or too high amps.
"Honey do u mind adjusting the diff for my car, I'm busy making lasagna"
There's like a hundred lsd's on sale on eBay for 300$

I’ll see you tomorrow Lauren ❤
The old dif was stick welded and the new one is mig
Wow how did u learn mechanics?
Do you use Milwaukee gear?

Changing ratios?
why replace it ?
Brooo that diff is nuke proof lmao 🤣
Can't you install a spool? Or is it crazy expensive for your car?
Why not purchase or fabricate a locking differential?
Was gonna tease you about a welded diff but i literally couldn't find a proper spool for your car
What brand is that torque wrench?
Girls working on their own diff make me feel stupid 😂
Use a full spool
Lincoln locker .
You don’t even need to weld it that much only the little spider gears. Did that to 4 wheeling trucks never broke

Why locked the diff just get a 1 way its less headace
Bruh I'm in love
But why replace it?? I mean just run it till it blows it wont damage anything ells
Okay I have to ask why did you change it? Does the new one have lower gears or something?
