Players love 'the game they used to play.' Meaning, players are always going to ask to be able to go back to a 'better time' they remember, and that time just so happens to be the version they are really in love with. It's like having an old girlfriend you really miss but you keep dating new people. That's the ongoing wow player RN, that's a pretty terrible relationship.
It sure would be great if they actually attach Azuremyst, Bloodmyst, Ghostlands, Eversong, and the Isle of Quel'Danas to the main map, and allow flying in those areas. It would also be great if literally every vanilla zone and instance got Zidormi, so that we could still access pre-Cata zones, quests, and dungeons. (or even add Classic to Chromie Time, and selecting Classic/BC/Wrath sets you back to the pre-Cata world, quests, instances, etc; also make Chromie Time usable at max level)
That time travel thing needs to be removed I think. Only confuse new players etc. if people want to experience the "old" WoW there is Classic. The game needs to move on fully not just a litle.
World revamp would be such a good way to also expand the allied races and the newest racial additions to prexisting races. To be able to see Zandalari and the Vulpera make homes for themselves across Kalimdor, including caravans we can find along the barrens roads as they deliver supplies or carry out tasks for the Horde. Its not just updating the old to match the actual lore, its also about fleshing out the recent changes we’ve been given as players. A restored Azuremyst Isles, for example, could easily have us seeing night elves and draenei mingling alongside the Man’ari & Lightforged, with their own struggles and stories, like being mediators to these conflicts. For Silvermoon, it’d be adding distinctive Shal’dorei areas and npcs to accompany the recent marriage. Then there’s also the matter of Mechagon and gnomekind. Will it be finally fleshed out and turned into a useable, questable outdoor capital for gnomes? Will Suramar become a portalable city in future, with questlines we can do that expand the growth and development of the Shal’dorei? Mag’har Orcs. Where do their previous cultural traditions tie into the current story of orcs? Do we finally get to see diversity amongst the art assets to see the better side of WoD orcs mingling with the old orcs? With the development of soulshapes and new druid forms, does this mean we’ll see new druid subgroups and with the trip to Ardenweald & meeting the Thornspeakers, will we see more druids align with death? What if druids opened up to all classes? Could we finally see oriental druid forms for Pandaria? Speaking of Kul Tirans, do we see more of their fleets start sailing the oceans now we freed them? Do we get to see them set up outposts along the other two continents? Perhaps a New Theramore can be made. Also Lordaeron/Undercity. With the help of Calia, do we get a revamped undead capital that envisions both that of the Forsaken but some of the old charm of Calia’s home? What does light and death look like cooperating in these matters? Its been 8+ years since MoP and the Pandaren haven’t been given any development progress outside of some nocs scattered about the world and Visions of N’oth. Do we finally get to reclaim the Wandering Isle or get a few pandaren settlements amongst the rest? With one pocket of the emerald dream revealed, I also wonder if we can begin seeing other pockets of the dream as we explore kalimdor and eastern kingdoms. DKs. DHs. What’s their purpose now? Do we get to see after effects of SL on the land and we get to help DKs deal with it? Do DHs get to do monster slaying jobs? I want actual new stories with what we’ve been given in the past few expansions and to see allied race players to feel represented and integrated officially into the older aspects of the game. I don’t just want the “old” WoW (Classic exists). I want a WoW that also integrates the last few expansions and makes the world liveable with their stories, cultural contributions and environmental progress of a world that’s getting healed.
also something I would like for people like me ,is much better gear and loot for questing , as I am not a fan of dungeons or raids , I like questing and exploring , but not the stess and toxic nature of the other two
I really enjoyed reading this comment and like the take that it would feel like a merger between new and old chapters of the game. It would be really awesome if the revitalized scarlets keep and redesign the gear for the modern age and deadmines with the kul tirans work with or against us and have a BFA ship full of kul tirans magically crash through the final boss room to swing across ropes and take the sitting ship. More pirate themed gear could even come to the coasts where we see pirate factions at stranglethorn vale or center around booty bay!
this would be absolutely amazing! i would honestly cry if New Theramore was made (had my hearth set there for years, due to the server i was on always have sooooo many ppl in major cities and the smaller towns near the major cities), and the fact that it was so close to Ony's Lair with a boat to Menethil harbor! (also got me to close to lower Kalimdor faster, as alliance. during pre-flying content, that was perfection for me)
With the next 11.0 expansion sure to be revealed at Blizzcon this November, a serious re-vamp of Azeroth would be a feature they would certainly announce if its planned.
What if they announced two expansions? What is there to come after 11.0, if not WoW 2.0, the revamp of World of Warcraft! So 11.0 Before 23 november 2024, and revamp sometime in 2026.
I think they should change the transitions between Zones, they are often separated by narrow hills that look very unnatural and makes everything look more a theme park when you fly over it
Yeah if they do this, it better be balls to the Wall, full scale, cause with dragon flying or let’s be real the flying in general, it just is not something they can sell, cause if they do this, it’s cause they are gonna use the places for new content.
Yes and no - The actual lore of the geography supports this in many cases, but there are also areas where it's just weird. For example most of the starting areas have to be surrounded by mountains because that's literally what it's always been since the earliest maps Metzen ever drew. But then there's some real obvious ones like going from east plagues thru the TBC instance portal into Ghostlands - That's the type of stuff they gotta fix.
What if the next expansion isn’t necessarily some big baddie? What if they let the adventurer go back through the world showing it healing and dealing with new issues for each zone? It would be similar to the original game where you are just experiencing the world rather than a save the world end goal? Since wrath it’s been a power through the world to get good enough to stop the big villain.
i was thinking this too. like an organic regrowth of player experience in the world with a feeling of being comfortably re-situated in each classic zone
@@christoffer5875 What? There are multiple "big bads." What are you talking about? There is some spirit of exploration, but it is not the main focus of the isles, unfortunately.
Sorry if this makes me sound sappy, but I’ve always felt dissatisfied by the fact that when we come to new continents, they are beautiful and then we bring war to it and as we progress in the campaigns, we ruin those beautiful places and then are phased to have that destruction be the final version. My best example is in MoP that we convince the Celestials to let us enter the Vale and then a couple patches later it is all but destroyed by Garrosh’s shenanigans. Then we never help them restore it, we just leave. The Celestials should have just denied us entry. Wouldn’t it be nice if it were the other way around? We come to a zone that is in ruin and by the time we finish the campaign we leave it better than we found it? I would love to have my main be in a phase that looks beautiful and my alts be in one that sucks because they didn’t put in the work, lol. Additionally, I would love to progress to the next expansion and then when I went back to do some holiday thing look around and remember that it looks so nice thanks to my actions.
Don't take this wrong, but it is mostly because you are a woman that affects you. Women are not as attuned and adaptive to war, and the price of it like men are, and this is WORLD of WARcraft, not a Strawberry Shortcake game
@@H-D-D Who gives birth to the sons who die in war - if not women? Who are left widows - their children left fatherless, if not women? The West needs to stop judging itself through an eastern prism.
Duskwood getting the Drustvar treatment for example would be deeeelightful. Maybe the night elves move into old Dire maul and that's the provisory capital while Duskshore is sorted out. Will there finally be bridges over the scars in the Barrens? I would definitely come back to WoW for this.
Wtf I dont wanna move into that shity Dire maul 🤮 living in the shadow of that damn sword one zone over south and constantly hearing the faint echoes of "Champion Azeroth needs ya!" from Magni 😂
@@TarisRedwing Well, Dire maul IS the ruin of an ancient Kaldorei city, Eldre'thalas, so it does make some sense lore-wise. Just clear out the cobwebs and get some new upholstery and she'll be good as new :D
@@Paveway-chan I think it would be more likely for the night elves to expand Feathermoon Stronghold, as it's still in good condition and currently the largest night elven settlement as far as I know.
I imagine class storylines would be added, but separate from the main story and smaller like the ones in FF14. Making a FULL main story for every class would take way too long.
The problem with the old world, is that the areas got half size on scale in comparison of how the areas are in the expansions. They should be expanded 200% each one with a lot of stuff that exists in the lore but was never added in game. Anyways, that would make me very excited, unlike if they come up again with the asspull islands.
I hope they update Silvermoon City and the surrounding areas. No way that the Blood Elves have not reclaimed the other half of the city and cleaned up the Dead Scar by this time.
You know, I would love it if they also upscaled the old world. I mean, if dragonriding, it's gonna be really small, too. But I'd imagine you could do so much with EK/Kalimdor, without disrupting their spirit, while sizing it up.
I personally miss the old story of "you're one of many" not you're the chosen one, until next expansion where you're the next chosen one again - together with everyone else.
You can't be "one of many" when your character has been lore wise bullying villains for 20 years straight. They would need to make a new game for it to make sense to be one of many again.
@@lukaskonecny9992 As far as I recall, it was _adventurers_ in the vague sense who did it, not specific people. For example, the people who triumphed over Kel'Thuzad in vanilla are not the same people who beat down Illidan in TBC or the Lich King in Wrath. So they are certainly a step up from generic nobodies, but not quite major lore character tier like say Thrall or something, until WoD where they completely embraced the "chosen one" thing. Plus Blizzard has retconned who killed bosses in the past, for example in the canon lore Onyxia was killed by Varian, not adventurers.
@@DrewPicklesTheDark I mean sure, this can work few times. Realistically your ingame character beat them all, it would just feel out of place to beat Ragnaros, Kel Thuzad, Illidan, KJ, Cthun, Lich King, Garrosh, Archimonde, Argus and many others and still be regarded as one random guy. They tried it with Nathanos who treated you like a dog even after all of that in BFA, it just felt out of place.
I'm all in for revamping the world! Would be super good and also huge QoL for new and returning players to have that "adventurer" feel again when going through the zones and just doing more down to earth stuff helping people in the zone and discover some dark and grim stuff/secrets also.
So revamp not 'confirmed'. Nice one, you got me. Speculation with a high degree of certainty is still speculation. I understand you need clickbait to shift videos but don't just make sh*t up in the title my dude.
and then the "return to office" mandate happened, which should line up perfectly to impact the start of the next expansion, where we'll see how that indiscriminate drop in employment will effect output.
I think if they wanted to do it next expansion they could scope it to the EK or the north half of EK only and that would probably work. Zones could be merged into Quel'thalas (eversong, quel'danas, former ghost lands), lordaeron (tirisfal, silverpine, alterac, hillsbrad), Khaz Modan (the rest other than gilneas) and that's plenty of space and story potential for a new expansion and contains human, dwarf, undead, blood/high elf, and even a decent bit of orc lore
I will say, instead of having a Zidormi in every zone to phase us over from Cataclysm there should be a single Zidormi in Stormwind, IronForge or Darnassus that phases us over two the new iteration of both continents. If they put the new world tree near Darkshore then phasing from Darnassus should put us into that new Night Elf city.
Chances are, "new" EK and Kalimdor will not be on the same map ID, Phasing won't work. Effectively it will be like TBC and WOD. Adding silvermoon and exodar to the maps will expand the map in a direction that breaks the coordinate system, which would break almost every NPC pathing.. so it would be a lot easier to do a fresh map ID. On the other hand, if they REVERSED the coordinate system (As in, what secrets of azeroth is currently using), then it wouldn't be an issue..
@@DarkScreamGames Even then you can still have a "Zidormi NPC" to handle moving between the revamped world and old world though. Doesn't have to use the phasing tech, the NPC could just teleport you over to the other map instead. that way you keep some level of immersion as well.
Instead of giving each zone a new story, I feel like Blizzard might merge several zones into a much larger zone. Perhaps Elwynn, Westfall, Duskwood and Redridge might be merged into one zone with a story spanning that entire zone.
Called the "Kingdom of Stormwind" It'd be interesting but merging zones would mean a bit fewer new stories and maybe loose out on aesthethic But could also make things more cohesive Idk we'll see where they go
would love it if they would include updating the old world construction projects that have been the same since Cata, like the settlement walls in Westfall and the stone bridge in RedRidge
I would very much like Eversong/Ghostlands to be connected to the rest of the world. Not to mention an HD revamp of the terrain and Silvermoon. It would be nice to be able to fly around and have a city as expansive and beautiful as Stormwind on the Horde side. (and before anyone says "We have Orgrimmar, that city is a barbaric dung heap, not a beautiful city.)
I'm all in favor for a proper revamp. Cataclysm felt rushed and a scramble to include flying. I want it done right this time. And we need dailies that rotate to different zones so we have a reason to go there.
I would looooooove a reason to go back to old zones. Which is why I love it when new expansions have you go to old zones for story with scaled mobs in place.
While I get what your saying by adding things to the zones that get people to go to them I definitely don't want it to be dailies. I am so sick of dailies in every game. Games need to stop focusing on trying to get people to log in every single day with boring chores and to do lists and they need to focus on just making new content that is fun to do. It's okay that not every bit of content needs to be highly replayable we already have a ton of that. We just need memorable enjoyable content to do from time to time that is different from the constant grind.
If it's even possible, i would find it amazing if they made it so you could dragonfly from kalimdor to pandaria, or eastern kingdoms to northrend. In the new 0-10 zone i noticed that they have made some incredible ocean water textures with waves, and giving players the freedom to travel around everywhere with removing half the portals in the game, would just be better for the game in my opinion. Sitting through loading screens, and remembering where one of the 1000 portals in the game are, cause you're restricted to the zone/map you're on, is just worse for gameplay than what i stated above. Also zepelin and boat travel would have no loading screen either, since the places in the world physically would be where they are supposed to.
Btw the biggest issue i’ve noticed playing with newer friends in the game, and also veterans, is that due to the restrictions and portals everywhere, it’s a bear task to even learn and remember where the portal is to where you wanna go, instead of just looking at your map and travel, what vanilla classic has shown is that alot of the immersion that players aren’t bothered by, is travel time.
That was my thought as well. Try to take out as many loading screens from out of the game. Would be insane if they could accomplish that but it seems like a nightmare to do
The distance between continents is too big for Dragon riding to cover, a normal flying mount and auto run, sure. But they really do need to get rid of portal rooms and bring back actual transportation like boats and zeppelins. But with the amount of stuff players have to do nowadays to be raid ready the time spent traveling in classic is simply not feasible. WoW needs a foundational revamp to it's game systems as well as the game world to solve problems like add-on bloat. Personally I'd prefer a full on WoW2 that is not an expansion so they can make the game with modern UI and game systems so new players aren't handicapped by not having external programs installed ahead of time.
Yes, I too have wondered if the Zaralek "Airlock" system would work in an open ocean setting. Once you're far enough into the sea, the game could unload the previous continent, and let the player travel on a square of ocean (maybe with the UI showing which directions to go) - Once they approach the opposite edge of the ocean square, the new zone would begin populating. Fun fact, the "crazy 2hour turtle boat ride" uses this tech - It was a tech test BEFORE zaralek came out...
It s just sad when old storylines and quest and stuff just goes away never and can never be touched again. I hope they bring it back through the revamp
They could do what FF14 is doing. Announce the revamp, but break it unto chunks, and slowly work on those chunks over the course of multiple patches/expansions. They could then have a big marketing moment with "NEW WORLD REVAMP" with the next next expansion afterwards
Yeah I was floored when I read Ion's quote. He is super lawyery in how he speaks, always. Very careful, with the only mistakes being things that were "To the best of his knowledge", like the "pull the ripcord" debacle -- Clearly he thought the development of that was further along than it was -- But otherwise, he's always very, very deliberate. Remember too that Blizzard has been crossing off their decade old to-do list - it started with finally delivering the succubus/incubus option back in SL, and slowly but surely, they've tackled every longstanding player request- putting back lost cataclysm content, touching up old professions to fix what many expansions broke, and more.. One that is still outstanding though? Being able to fly in Silvermoon and fixing that area of the map to be together with the rest of the world, finally. And I guess the Exodar too. So putting it all together - They've restored almost everything Cataclysm took away, and they're prepared to archive the old world in Chromie Time, while indicating a world revamp is likely, rehiring Chris Metzen, and creating insane amounts of old world assets that aren't seen anywhere in the live game. It's very, very clear what's coming. PS: A better example than RE4 is BG3. Ed Greenwood is still around for consultation on Faerun, and it has an absolutely enormous body of lore and world building to draw from, on top of Baldur's Gate being its own successful game series. I hope Metzen has played BG3, because if he does what he usually does with Faerun-spawned inspiration, it's going to be incredible.
I have to agree with you. I felt desolate (no pun intended) when I logged in Cataclysm. I needed to see the "world" get repaired and restored. One thing that is a comfort is using the NPC to "go back in time." I like that. So, yeah, make new zones but don't wreck everything.
We should be able to access pre Cata Azeroth through Chromie as well. Always thought of that as a better way to do Classic WoW instead of having an entirely separate client.
Blizzard has to bring the Warcraft universe and world forward, everything needs to feel relevant again, like its modern day Azeroth, not some Chromie time-soup
If this comes to fruition, this is getting me the most excited for an expansion in years and years. Very true that the appeal of classic and HC is returning to familiar zones with zone base lore - and quests that send you everywhere. Why else do people keep returning to classic in different forms (HC) over and over?? I wonder if them dodge the answer that 10.2 might be the last patch of this expansion has anything to do with the team spending time on this possible revamp. Total speculation there.
I just want all phases of WoW to be available to my character in retail. As much as I like playing classic, I don’t think the content should only be available as a separate server type option. I hope with the return of old dungeons, we’ll see classic zones available through Chromie (or something) on retail.
Something that struck me a few days ago. People say wow classic graphics are not very realistic, but the color palette is 100% realistic, and that does so much for the realistic feel. Blocky and low poly isn't unrealistic, it is just low fi.
Yeah the main thing is I hope that they develope the zones with future expansions in mind. What I mean by this is have zones and zone stories that could exist in really anytime in the lore. That is my biggest problem with Cata Zones is that your flying to see the Sword Sargeras stuck in the ground and yet a single zone over people are still screaming about Deathwing having just come through.
HOLY SHIT! They could layer ALL the expansions into "phases" and allow them to exist as they were, separate from each other, accessible at will, like Chromie time but best.
What would be nice is if they reversed much of the hand holding that takes place. For example, utilize class trainers again, instead of just auto granting skills as you level. Those NPCs have served no purpose for so long now. Bring back class reagents such as vanishing powder for rogues and runes for mages. Those types of changes would be an incredible addition to the game.
It always got me how linear WoW was developed. We had Classic, BC, Wrath and all they did was move us to new zones to level up higher and nothing happens ever again when we leave. Zones like Outland, Northrend, and Pandaria are stagnant in both story and content. Are we to believe that nothing new has happened in Outland since 2008? Wouldn't some other leader take over the Burning Legion in Outland to cause chaos?
There's a bit of a conundrum with revamping Old World vs not revamping. On one hand, a revamp will bring old locations up to date and maintain a consistency of aesthetics and themes. But people grow attached to the old stuff and don't want it removed. I think classic servers are a decent compromise in order to sate the players that want the old school. However, from a narrative perspective, leaving old zones with the same stories from 13 years ago does create a sort of sense of stagnation. During Legion they should've absolutely kept the demon invasions in all the old zones from the pre-expansion patch because narratively it makes sense. During BfA there should've been Horde vs Alliance skirmishes all over the place. If Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms and meant to be the "core game world", should it not actively reflect current events? But how do you do that without losing the old stuff you've come to love?
@@marekrolinec2079 Well that's just the thing, isn't it? There isn't a reason to go there beyond those two things. Its not a problem unique to WoW. Loads of MMO's suffer the "wasted real estate" issue. I suspect that's also partly why Blizz never added new player race capital cities after TBC, wasted real estate. What Blizz should do in conjunction with a revamp, is to give continual reasons to return to those locations and perhaps even make those reasons to return fit in with what's happening in the current expac.
old world revamp for the 20th anniversary makes total sense. id be up for it. Void destroys huge swaths of the Old World, we fight Void, push it back, Old World gets rebuilt.
A full rebuild would be fun, they can add things like world quests and rares and treasures that have been a mainstay since WoD. It would be so exciting if zones could remain relivent beyond just being a treadmill to max level
Part of the reason I personally hated the Cata world changes so much was because it was a world update essentially tailored to having flying in azeroth, and leveling in any zone touched by the cataclysm without flying just feels awful lmao
Great video! I've been praying for a WoW revamp/return to Kalimdor&EK for a while now. With Metzen back on the team it feels tangible. Blizzcon 2023 sitting in the front row watching Metzen get on stage to announce the new direction of WoW. Boy what a dream that would be!
an expansion titled "going home" or something like that where new threats are coming to light after the adventurers have been away from home for so long would be AMAZING!!
Honestly, who cares? Last time they did something like this, it lead to people hating it. Many people prefer Pre-Cataclysm Azeroth. Why would this revamp matter, if the game feels dead anyway? There is barely anybody to be seen leveling in modern WoW, it’s such a sad experience.
I love all this but the core issue is that modern wow doesn't push the players to spend hours and hours in the world just like classic do, in classic the only way you can level up is questing unless you're a mage meanwhile in retail you can basically level up by doing dungeons and leveling takes literally 10% of the time that it takes in classic and thats the journey a lot of people love and die for. We can already see people leveling in hardcore, its hard and tedious but people still love doing it and I bet that there's a very very slim amount of people leveling on retail in the open world/
One thing I half understand but wish they would do different is, if you have new models why not release them next reset or patch, why wait until a major patch or expansion even mostly. if you can make the game better RIGHT NOW, you should totally just do it. at least in terms of new models that can just be swapped out real quick. They should also bring back the Original zones PRE CATA with the phasing like technology, I do think it needs some change tho to make it easier and less messy to do so.
I would love a fresh restart of a world of warcraft 2 I think I could get a lot of my friends to play. Their biggest reason for not playing is because there is too much content. Too intimidating and they feel lost.
I have said for years that I would be totally okay if Blizzard decided to a complete world update, even if that means a couple days down. It would be worth the wait.
I still think the new furbolgs don't look like furbolgs. They look like upright bears. Yes, furbolgs are bear people, but they had a specific design and shape that the new ones lack, making them feel like a different type of creature. The new gnolls on the other hand still look like gnolls. On a different note, what would be really awesome is if Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor (and eventually everywhere) had a leveling phase and a max level phase. The leveling phase could be visually modern but with the classic stories, and the max level phase could be a reflection of the change that's taken place after all those years, and then you quest through those changed zones at max level (or the level bracket of the new expansion). For example, imagine if the cataclysm revamp didn't remove all the classic zones but kept them as the low level questing path and then added the cataclysm versions as the high level questing path (and for alts you could choose if your character starts in the classic period or cata period). And to incentivize high or max level players to actually do all that questing, they could give you an armor set for every zone's story you complete that's themed around that zone or the characters within it (like for duskwood you could get a Night Watch set, and for Western Plaguelands you could get a Scarlet Crusade set, and for Westfall you could get a Defias set, etc).
Maybe a little rose tinted, but I REALLY liked the concept of what cataclysm did to the world. The world evolves because of war, external events etc. I think the change in locations wasn't the issue, it was the removal of those really tight nit zone quests and experiences. I still play cata timewalking for levelling because I liked the expansion vision and art direction.
I've been saying for a while they could bring the old zones back for new expansion content and still leave the older content by phasing . Only difference is instead of Chromie to go back for legacy stuff for higher level players my suggestion would to have Zidormi (npc used to se old UC or Darnasus ) is placed at the entrances to both SW and Org. Another thing I might add is they could also add in say daily quests that also send us into old zones that have to do with new expansion zones. During SL in the WoW forums I put forth ideas like "Champion the Maw Sworn are attacking the Broken Isles , get to your class hall and stop them" or " Champion the scourge are marching under water (see Pirates of the Carribean under water march for reference) towards the Wetlands or Azshara (depending on faction ) we need you to stop them "". Things like that
i think the problem is: They have to give us a new permanent content, they cant just revamp the CLASSIC map and sell to us like a expansion. The expansions cant be on a place that already exists because or you change this place forever or you temporarily change the existing place for the events of the expansions and them need take it off because the expansion event is solved.
I was only thinking about wanting them to make the graphics modern in every zone, but to make a new-ish story for each one would revitalize my love for the games lore
It's actually a shame to hear they felt Cataclysm wasn't good. It was peak WoW for me. Revamping the entire world was ambitious and huge and no MMO has done anything like it before or since. It wasn't a 80-85 experience, it was a 1-85 experience and it was the expansion that got me to level every class - the entire world was the expansion.
I'd sacrifice a raid tier for an entire world revamp, and the distance-update to Outlands/Draenor, etc. I'd sacrifice another raid tier for open-world Guild/Player Housing with designated spots to settle down as you bring in economic growth to some of these rundown areas. Imagine if Duskwood needed better notoriety and income from the outside after having to deal with Werewolves and Stitches on their own, or you're in charge of fixing up Razor Hill and the farms in Durotar while redirecting some of the flood to a controlled quagmire, and maybe doing something about that Kul Tiran keep on the coast? Lots of repairs and update content to make the next expansion all about 'repairing' and recovering before we get another planet-ending crisis. Just one. Doesn't have to be a long expansion. Or you finally get to help finish Sentinel Hill, patch up Moonbrook and end that giant cyclone near the coast? Or perhaps the Barrens needs a ruddy bridge or a sealant to connect the two back together while we work something out with the local centaur tribes after bringing in some nomads from The Dragon Isles? We'll seek out a good home deal for the Wailing Caverns, just need to make sure the air is cleared up about any Druid acolytes still hissing in there.
The problem with CATA was instead of fixing bad old quests, they ruined all the good ones. Replaced them with awful gimmick quests, and theme-park style WOTLK quest design.
Ok Ok OK ... about the Sponsor plug .... you're telling me that transition of 'could not possibly be related to the Emerald Dream' ... and the product is UGREEN? Literally that is the defining feature of the Dream, we are all gonna walk in there and go ... 'You Green'
With instancing i think they should use the classic templates and modernize the classic azeroth, maybe the expansion is framed by a need to go back in time to before cata with the bronze Dragon flight
I have said this for years, instead of making Wow Classic, they should have made a world phase for the classic era so we could play through that like chromie time, play all the old quests and everything. WORLD OF WARCRAFT: UNCHAINED, the freeing of Azeroth’s Titan. The 10th expansion :)
World revamp expansion.. with... PLAYER HOUSING!! God, that would be the most wonderful thing Blizzard could ever do in my opinion. I've wanted player housing basically since I started playing back at the end of 2004. If it was done right, it could be magical. There is so much they could do with that... ugh... I pray I live long enough to see it happen some day!
Agreed, unless they actually do something with the old world, people will just look at it for a second, be impressed.. and then wait for the next expansion again. Also, with a world revamp, they REALLY need player housing, it's been freaking 20 years.
Rather than an old zones revamp, i’d love to see new eastern kingdoms and kalimdor built from scratch, like fully recreated and resized zones. Up to date
as a long time player the chromie time feature would be fun to see used giving players a chance to 'exist' in any prior or future time frame while not being restricted by being too over levelled for that zone.. yes this is for those 'I want to level in Elwynn Forest' players too lol.. there has been much content missed by players that could be accessed or readded this way from The attack on Undercity that was originally in the game (for the alliance/for the horde) quests.. where you assisted Varian assault the undercity or its counter part for the horde.. as well as things many missed like Deathwing in stormwind and so on.. Another feature id like to see if more (Warlords style) personal domains that we can build up and run WITHIN the old worlds areas.. ie those who love goldshire and elwynn forest.. have a area currently unused to build the players own micro community and like warlords, have it used by everyone who wants to through phasing, allowin you to have a PERMANENT base and 'HOME' that you can care about building and running especially between content updates.. Think warlords' base building but with so much more added to it and future land expansions to come.. till essentially you hve your own micro kingdom as a 'reward' for all the many years of service and catastrophes your character has been the leading figure in preventing yet never being given more back than just a wad of gold and a 'sometimes' rank or name others call you by.. Have the horde/Alliance show you your true worth for the years of service, introduce a 'family' system as seen in other games where you can raise a family within said own city.. train you own companions or troops to defend the city from conan exiles styled occasional raids against your city.. also seen in warlords with the invading forces.. the options are limitless and not outside the doable in the current market and would give players a reason to return to their fav areas if it means unlimited potential to make something their own and have a reason to be there long after the next expansion comes out
It's definitely not 11.0. They wouldn't say it otherwise and spoilt the expac reveal. They said it because we are EXPECTING it and they don't want a PR disaster when it actually isn't. They are setting expectations and doing preemptive damage control. They will likely restate it again something in the lines that: "We are definitely thinking about it and it's likely to come in the future."
Personally, I don't worry too much about Blizzard being able to revamp the world. That's easily believable. However I'm more worried about the art and stylistic direction of World of Warcraft. The game should be more about war. Garrosh, Varian, Deathwing, Arthas are all great examples of a more 'brutish' game. Now it feels like I'm just playing a Disney game somewhat... Also the game is too complex now. Too many addons, debuffs, spells, abilities, mounts, pets, collectibles, consumables, etc. I like how there is a higher skill ceiling in retail than classic, but you don't need 30+ addons and knowledge of 1000+ spells in the game to have a high skill ceiling. Games can be skillful and simplistic. We need more of that and less clutter. Those are my main two issues. Realistically, I can't see myself coming back until those are changed. But everywhere I look (besides asmon channel lol), WoW players don't see these as problems. They like WoW as it is. So even though I hope that Blizzard will change the game in this direction, currently I can only conclude that the game is just no longer for me.
Overall good stuff. I am sincerely hoping that among the multitude of assets that are being revamped we see those assets specific to class abilities and spells get some treatment as well. A good example of this would be base Druid forms for some of the older races (i.e., Night Elves, Trolls, Taurens, Worgens, etc.) These MUST be redone to be on parity with the visual fidelity of the newer expansion assets. We saw a little bit of this with the cheetah form but the model for the older travel forms need this same treatment. And it's not just specific to Druids-across the board, all the other classes (with the exception of Demon Hunters/Evokers) are still utilizing dated spell models/animations that also need to be on par with this supposed world design. It's been years and it's about time.
LOL...I go back and start all kinds of alts so I can run through Darkshore, Elwynn Forest, Redridge Mountains, Duskwood...over and over again. I'd love to see them freshen things up. I think when the new World Tree gets its life started would be a great time to start refreshing or renewing or give new stories to these zones as well as giving them that freshness that comes with better looking buildings that still FEEL like you're in the right zone.
Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms are what put the “world” in world of Warcraft. They’re enormous diverse and unique continents with no loading screen despite their size. Imagine if they focused solely on Eastern Kingdoms, upscaling the continent and its zones to 2x or even 3x? With modern design, each zone would have expansive story and design potential, and that “wow” feel would be back like it was in 2004. This would be a mind blowing template to build on, even if they had to complete the continent in subsequent releases.
As much as I like new zones, I think it would be cool if we had a "clean the house" expansion where we would rebuild some areas through the main questline and deal with the old expansion enemies left in Kalimdor/Eastern Kingdoms like Necromancers and etc while we remember the lore during these quests. I think most new players get very lost at the start cause the game just throw them in BfA and don't really show who are the race they choose, what they did for 15+ years in the game and etc, so the players can't really build a connection with the game, their character and their class.
Revamping the old world will be the only thing that MIGHT get me back into WoW for real. All this wasted all content has been my pet pevee with this game for years.
I'd love if they could make Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms into 'new' modern continents without loading screens between zones! I wonder what that would look like technically? Would it even be possible for them to 'copy and paste' from the old continent to the 'new' or would they need to remake each zone by hand. If they can't copy easily to the new tech then I doubt we'll ever see the old lands in this way :/
OG zones are nice and memorable and nostalgic for sure, we love them, but i think the main draw is the simplicity of everything. be it professions, dungeon mechanics, raid difficulty, no layered rng, no complex layered systems etc. and even new people can get into the game a hell of a lot easier than modern wow. revamped old zones will be nice but the longevity wont be there with all the problems of modern wow still remaining.
that idea of the chromi go back to the original wow map could be great, even when yo create a new character one could choose in which map to star the original or the up to date
Imo I would like them to revamp the old world with an all new level 10-80 experience for fresh characters out of the starting zones. The 70-80 zones can be done right away by our mains already at level 70. At level cap have events, world quests, etc all over Azeroth. Bring back zone take overs like we had with invasions in Legion, have zone events like the emerald dream ones currently in DF, etc. I just think it would be cool to have both max level and lower level alts able to participate in the same things in the old world.
I would love a look back at open world pvp. Encourage it by having neutral zone that factions can capture and changes the feel and look of certain things in the zone. Quests alter slightly and allow it to become fun/dangerous to walk around some zones when your faction isn't in control.
I think it would be amazing if World of Warcraft took a different approach to zone storylines. I'd like questlines to be level gated by 10+ levels. That way players can get breaks between zones to symbolize time passing in the world since you completed that zone's storyline, and then being recalled to take on the next chapter after some time has passed.
Seeing which is practically our second earth heal and evolve further does make me feel hopeful to see Teldrassil and subsequently Darnasses after the burning.

Second best ad ever, but nothing will ever top that ad where Michel yelled “my balls!”
Bellular says the title of the video, but it doesn't even match what the ACTUAL video title is... great clickbait! *face palm*
I feel like a product called "Ugreen" *could* possibly be related to the Emerald Dream, actually!
If i could go to Blizzcom, I would stand myself up before Cris Metzen, the time he shows up in the stage.
Can’t wait and hopefully silvermoon, ghost lands and the restoration of the dead scar
Hopefully we'll be able to fly there too
Yes! I'd love a way more creepy Duskwood.. there's potential for that
Yeah why haven't we had bolvar come clean this up yet?😅
Belluar channel really took a nose dive… this entire video was BS
They've been adding a lot of HD Blood Elf stuff (Especially lamp posts), so it is possible.
Old org ❤
best they can do is add more pixels and get the colors wrong. 90 dollars please.
I feel like they wouldn't do classic chrome time because classic wow exists.
That time travel thing needs to be removed I think. Only confuse new players etc. if people want to experience the "old" WoW there is Classic. The game needs to move on fully not just a litle.
I wonder what the chances of them merging zones together, like Eversong and Ghostlands etc. would they merge the barrens together?
All of this
I am borrowing this for a FB post I hope you do not mind I will try to include your name as the OP
also something I would like for people like me ,is much better gear and loot for questing , as I am not a fan of dungeons or raids , I like questing and exploring , but not the stess and toxic nature of the other two
I really enjoyed reading this comment and like the take that it would feel like a merger between new and old chapters of the game.
Yeah but not for certain, would depend on when they make it.
Dont be sure of the reveal so soon
especially now that is the 20th anniversary the revamp would be fitting
@DanielBoisen Mate it will 101% happen this november
What if they announced two expansions? What is there to come after 11.0, if not WoW 2.0, the revamp of World of Warcraft! So 11.0 Before 23 november 2024, and revamp sometime in 2026.
"has been confirmed"
"It's almost certain"
"It's very likely"
Mate. Mate... I get you need to clickbait, but seriously? Is it confirmed, or isn't?
Right wtf is this shit
My same exact thoughts
if he doesn't do that he loses revenue I would guess.
and yet you still clicked it.. hahaha
Until it's in a blue post and in patch notes, it's not happening. People should have learned this by now.
Yeah but until you get flying, having expansive hills to signify zone borders would probably be a pain in the ass for traveling on the ground
Yes and no - The actual lore of the geography supports this in many cases, but there are also areas where it's just weird. For example most of the starting areas have to be surrounded by mountains because that's literally what it's always been since the earliest maps Metzen ever drew.
But then there's some real obvious ones like going from east plagues thru the TBC instance portal into Ghostlands - That's the type of stuff they gotta fix.
that was exactly my thought when I was flying over southern EK and I saw how strange the zones looked being separated by mountain ranges
It's only like that because wow was originally not intended to be seen from the air
That is literally what the current expansion is... SMH
sounds awful
@@christoffer5875 What? There are multiple "big bads." What are you talking about? There is some spirit of exploration, but it is not the main focus of the isles, unfortunately.
Uh... there is a big bad in Vanilla and a through-line it's just not told through cutscenes calling you champion.
As a druid, I love this.

World of Flowercraft?
Duskwood getting the Drustvar treatment for example would be deeeelightful. Maybe the night elves move into old Dire maul and that's the provisory capital while Duskshore is sorted out. Will there finally be bridges over the scars in the Barrens? I would definitely come back to WoW for this.
yes but make that whole collection of zones around SW the human forest mega zone.
Wtf I dont wanna move into that shity Dire maul 🤮 living in the shadow of that damn sword one zone over south and constantly hearing the faint echoes of "Champion Azeroth needs ya!" from Magni 😂
@@TarisRedwing
Well, Dire maul IS the ruin of an ancient Kaldorei city, Eldre'thalas, so it does make some sense lore-wise. Just clear out the cobwebs and get some new upholstery and she'll be good as new :D
@@Paveway-chan I think it would be more likely for the night elves to expand Feathermoon Stronghold, as it's still in good condition and currently the largest night elven settlement as far as I know.
I think an old world msq should be class based. That way leveling could boost class identity and connection to your character
With the class halls we already had from Legion. That would solve so many issues and add lots of flavor.
And it would add a ton of replayability.
I imagine class storylines would be added, but separate from the main story and smaller like the ones in FF14. Making a FULL main story for every class would take way too long.
That or racially based, maybe a mix of both as relevant, but that would almost certainly be pushing it in even in an ideal situation
bruh - i love this 👏
The problem with the old world, is that the areas got half size on scale in comparison of how the areas are in the expansions.
Thumb down his videos for lying and click bait. UA-cam will give him penalties. Eventually these guys will learn.
I think the team is much further along than is currently claimed. I do think an Azeroth revamp will be shown at Blizzcon.
and then the "return to office" mandate happened, which should line up perfectly to impact the start of the next expansion, where we'll see how that indiscriminate drop in employment will effect output.
Called the "Kingdom of Stormwind"
It'd be interesting but merging zones would mean a bit fewer new stories and maybe loose out on aesthethic
But could also make things more cohesive
Idk we'll see where they go
Honestly I love this idea. It also makes the giant zones make sense for dragon riding
This makes a lot of sense!
This is exactly what I was thinking since the world map is broken down into larger subsections…Khaz Modan, etc
would love it if they would include updating the old world construction projects that have been the same since Cata, like the settlement walls in Westfall and the stone bridge in RedRidge
Time to update the cardboard box forests of Ashenvale and Felwood.
Found the Alliance sympathizer.
Jokes aside, Thalyssra has supposedly put in a motion to beautify Orgrimmar
You make it sound like it could really happen and now I want it. ^^ I loved questing and leveling on Kalimdor! :)
I'm all in favor for a proper revamp. Cataclysm felt rushed and a scramble to include flying. I want it done right this time. And we need dailies that rotate to different zones so we have a reason to go there.
Asking for dailies 🤮
The world quest system could certainly be better but implementing it on Azeroth would revive so much about it
I would looooooove a reason to go back to old zones. Which is why I love it when new expansions have you go to old zones for story with scaled mobs in place.
Cataclysm was aptly named. All the resources that should have been allocated to new content was instead diverted to updating aging content.
I'd rather a loading screen than literally 5+ minutes of travel lol
We should still have that chromie option
Do you know someone who instead of playing current zones play the 15years old ones? Except leveling and rping there.
Would LOVE it if they made silvermoon suramar size and an actual main city
an expansion titled "going home" or something like that where new threats are coming to light after the adventurers have been away from home for so long would be AMAZING!!
Trickling in new content doesn't make headlines and doesn't wow customers. It is work gone unnoticed, pretty much.
I want the sword to have a Goblin roller coaster with a Gnome racetrack. With pet battles.
Wait has it been confirmed or "almost been confirmed"? The title is confusing.
It's a bellular video, you can trust the title to not be the same as the video's content
Eeeh when it comes down to Bell's videos just watch it and ignore the titles.
His content is imo great, but his titles are usually clickbaity af.
I have a 4080. This thing can run on a calculator. Please revamp.
updated old world with hardcore mode in mind is what will be happening 100%. I'm shivering.
We'll seek out a good home deal for the Wailing Caverns, just need to make sure the air is cleared up about any Druid acolytes still hissing in there.
they need to clean up BFA stuff from all the zones asap
The problem with CATA was instead of fixing bad old quests, they ruined all the good ones. Replaced them with awful gimmick quests, and theme-park style WOTLK quest design.
They could just add high level questlines to all those zones. or questlines in multiple levelspans...
Ok Ok OK ... about the Sponsor plug .... you're telling me that transition of 'could not possibly be related to the Emerald Dream' ... and the product is UGREEN? Literally that is the defining feature of the Dream, we are all gonna walk in there and go ... 'You Green'
Whats with Blizzard Copyright blocking your (youtube) Video today?
I personally think that dynamic flying and the heavy use of portals have cheapened the game experience. Travel time hurts for a reason.
So much they could do…like decorations (for real money of course) 😢
I want something like Garrisons back. God i've so much time in Bfa building mine even if was useless from a gameplay perspective
I want the night elves to grow more. (looks like they are)
and i hope our home will be on kalimdor... not on the dragon isles, not in amirdrassil ffs, lol
Same lol as long as the night elves get a home.
Have the horde/Alliance show you your true worth for the years of service, introduce a 'family' system as seen in other games where you can raise a family within said own city.. train you own companions or troops to defend the city from conan exiles styled occasional raids against your city.. also seen in warlords with the invading forces.. the options are limitless and not outside the doable in the current market and would give players a reason to return to their fav areas if it means unlimited potential to make something their own and have a reason to be there long after the next expansion comes out
My issue with retail is it feels so complicated and over whelming.
cant wait really hope they do World Revamp in the future
"an island dredged up from the bowels of the lore" that is awesome writing.
I have been waiting for an Azeroth expansion for the longest time. Would be a dream come true if the xpansion was completely around the original world
Revamping the old world will be the only thing that MIGHT get me back into WoW for real.
If they can't copy easily to the new tech then I doubt we'll ever see the old lands in this way :/
This is so exciting to me... I have been screaming for this for 10 years or more.
i just want to see gilneas get properly used as the next alliance city, perfect opportunity here
This will 100% make me come back, I've been wanting this since WoD
if they opened wow2 I'm definitely not playing it, and if wow1 died out, I'll just be done with it. had a good run.
The clickbait intensifies 😂
I just think it would be cool to have both max level and lower level alts able to participate in the same things in the old world.
wouldn’t a 2.0 make more sense instead of redesigning everything?
