I'm normally on the 'people are way too easily offended' side. Though, in this instance I think Ramsey was just being inappropriate (even if mildly so). She looked uncomfortable. Lots of the people in the comments said they felt uncomfortable (as did I).
I believe she didn't want trouble so she did nothing. She's more than likely used to this type of behavior and apparently it's normal for Ramsay. That doesn't make it okay.

That's my general opinion on it. It was very awkward, and if you replaced Gordon with almost anyone else, I could see it as being creepy. But this is Gordon Ramsay, from several years ago when he was far worse than he is now! He's always been blunt, he isn't afraid to say 'crass' things, he's said far, far worse, to complete strangers in their own businesses and kitchens. He says the exact same stuff with the same intentions be it to a man or a woman, old or young, that's who he is. I can see how you'd feel uncomfortable, perhaps, but it's not a targeted thing, it's not because she was a woman, or because she was attractive, it's because he's Gordon Ramsay.

@@Ranger1PresentsVirtualRealms I don't think I can agree with that statement. Objectification within itself is okay to an extent, but the problem is that it's too one-sided and gendered. I'll be more jiggy with sexual objectification of women when we get more full frontal shots of dudes onscreen. Furthermore, I don't think sexually objectifying someone should be completely acceptable across the board. There's a time and a place. Why should we expect such things to happen in as mundane contexts as a talk show? Come on. Like anything, there are limits, and we should at the bare minimum question it from time to time. It being on TV doesn't mean an impact isn't made. Much of our norms and expectations stem from what we see on television, and anyone who says human beings can and do make clear distinctions between reality and media are lying. If she's personally fine with what happened, great, it's her prerogative. But that doesn't make what happened in and of itself a-okay. It wasn't. And because it wasn't, he apologized for it. My only concern is that the issue is resurfacing for little to no reason.

  • @DWGranted
    @DWGranted 5 років тому +33

Just bc she was smiling and joking doesn’t mean she was happy with what was going on. When I was sexually assaulted I kept smiling while trying to get out of the situation bc no one else was acting like anything was wrong and I didn’t want someone to get mad at me and get a negative reaction out of someone bc I said I’m not comfortable. I just smiled, kept asking politely for them to stop, and texted my friends to come help me bc I didn’t know what else to do. The whole time the guy kept laughing and going “I’m flirting with you and you like it otherwise you would say no differently.”
So it’s very plausible that she reacted this way bc it not only took her by surprise but also bc she did not want a negative backlash that could make the situation worse.

While I do think it was really disrespectful on Ramsey's part, I still question the point of digging up dirt in people's past.
Do you really want reconciliation or do you want to end a career? Because unless it's a *constant* thing, bringing up one instant of misbehavior in order to vilify someone isn't productive for anyone.
I'm not saying people should get off scot free for mistakes just because it was long ago, but we need to understand that it's a *mistake,* whether or not it's a constant behavior should be the issue.

    Ingredients
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 tablespoon baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 cup shortening
    • 3/4 cup milk
    Directions
    1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
    2. In a large mixing bowl sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening with fork or pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
    3. Pour milk into flour mixture while stirring with a fork. Mix in milk until dough is soft, moist and pulls away from the side of the bowl.
    4. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and toss with flour until no longer sticky. Roll dough out into a 1/2 inch thick sheet and cut with a floured biscuit or cookie cutter. Press together unused dough and repeat rolling and cutting procedure.
    5. Place biscuits on ungreased baking sheets and bake in preheated oven until golden brown, about 10 minutes.

Hey Phil, can you please cover the Mars Argo settlement case now that it's finally over? Brittany Sheets(aka girl who played Mars Argo) won the copyrights to the Mars Argo project along with the original UA-cam channel(grocerybagdottv) as well as a no-contact order(against both ThatPoppy and her director, Titantic Sinclair) so that she can feel safe again now that she's returned to Los Angeles. I really hope anyone reading this likes this comment for coverage because Brittany Sheets lost practically 8 years of her life through this whole ordeal while being taunted by her perpetraitors! Yet somehow UA-cam wants to include Moriah(ThatPoppy, or as I like to call her ThatCopy) into all of their UA-cam spotlight videos of the New Year. I think this is a huge success for an underdog who's been damaged artistically, socially(she had to leave LA because of Sinclair's abuse), emotionally, even physically, psychologically, and career-wise from having 92 videos originally now there's only 3. I hope this is the year the original IndieQueen of UA-cam, Mars Argo, returns stronger than ever! #MarsArgo2019

That UA-cam account and should had always been in the Mars Argo "Company" or else Titanic would have delete it before the storm came. Unless of course he manage to get it by changing the password and email and then just stupidly delete selected videos and not even thinking of deleting the channel itself. Same with the Mars Argo Project. And as a proof she didn't won the copyright case, the Channel Poppy is still live as of the moment, if it was found to be going against the law you expect it to be taken down, now do we?

It wasn't quite the Marx Brothers skit I was expecting from your comment. There was no chasing. Also, as a fluent Spanish speaking Latina I have absolutely been in situations where I had to laugh stuff like this off and "play along" because our culture is still very steeped in machismo. I don't think he should be fired but just because it's culturally the norm we can't try to move in a better direction?
People keep selectively quoting something she said but she has also said she doesn't feel she has the right to complain about things that happen. That should also be considered.
Things that are "just jokes" are often used to prime people to be victims and they set a precedent for bigger things. We shouldn't just have to tolerate it.

I'm from Germany and how the US handles elections is baffling me every time.
In Germany we have automatic voter registration at the age of 16, voting day is a sunday, if you can't vote on voting day, you can go to your town hall whenever and vote early at normal opening hours. We have voter ID, but everyone has to has an ID in Germany. Voting is done on paper ballets and you barely have to wait longer than 10min.
They even have programms to make sure homeless people are able to cast their vote (as the registration is linked to your place of residence).
Oh and the thing most connected to this story, it is close to impossible to take someones right to vote away. (Might also be due to the German history and the nazis taking voting rights away from the opposition) You would have to be guilty of voter fraud or treason to lose your right to vote, so even people who are in prison are allowed to vote via mail from prison.
