I was listening to this with headphones on and I think it was Michael at 24:45 doing some deep breaths startled me! I thought a ghost was breathing in my ear or something. 🤣 Thanks for showing how to play and for getting my heart rate up 😉.
I enjoyed the teach by Nikki and the playthrough and then I took a closer look at the thumb nail for the video to discover that E.T. in the bike basket was actually Deborah! LOL!
We played 2 player and had two cop cars at the clearing, the third one was one space away. We needed 2 phones to move the ship and win and we got it. That was a very close win, and we used 4 items to make a device. I think 4 player game would be more difficult as there is even less space to move around
What a cute game! It seems that it is perfect to play with the family. It's a good way to introduce the movie to new generations who may not have seen it yet (although it's a classic). On another topic, I wish you could continue with the "GameNight DateNight!" chapters, apart from the regular videos. I imagine it must be a lot of work, but it's nice to see 2 player games with Nikki and Lincoln. You guys bring great games to the table.
I think those phone dice were clearly out of order. What a fun game though! Very true to the film too. I like how Greg can get past the agents more easily (since he's 'only' supporting cast in the film). Perhaps having the other kids in the game (Tyler and Steve I think) could've added an element of choice when setting up a 4 player game. It looks like the trick is to keep pulling the agents away from where you don't want them to be since they will head towards the kids and you need a lot of time to get the mothership moving. I like that there's no built in timer as long as the dice rolls don't move the cop cars too much and you can evade getting caught. For me, if there's one downer it's that, like with sooooo many other games, game time moves on between player turns, which means the agents and cars get lots of dice rolls and moves relative to the number of times any given player moves. A lot of games suffer from this IMHO. The art with all the plastic around Elliot's house and even the geranium on the bottom of the board show how much love has gone into the game. The cameras were terrific too, making it easy to read cards throughout the game. I thought sleeves would be reflective but they worked well. Many thanks!
Wow, those call roles! OMG ... that is how I role though ... I feel your despair :D hahahah GREAT video, and great game! Good to see Deborah and Mike again :D
Honestly, if I tried this game and the mothership didn’t even move once due to rolls, I wouldn’t call the game difficult but... unfair. It would make me not want to try this again
Was at Target yesterday and thought about picking this up. Target’s board game section is 🔥 honestly. They also had Marvel Dice Throne. I was shocked. 🤯
They've started going heavy into boardgames, even requesting companies make versions of some games Target Exclusives. I forget the title of the one they just announced.
Very helpful video! Thank you! Question though, do you need to roll the red "Danger Die" if you end your turn with ET in your basket or if you are sharing the space with him (similar to sharing the space with another kid)?
I think this game would really do well to have something like the Arkham Horror 3e tokens, instead of the blue dice. In that game, you have tokens that you pull out each turn, and they stay out when they get pulled. That way, you know the exact distribution of bad things that can happen, and it's not nearly as random.
René, we have the cameras mounted in fixed positions and we record all of the audio and video and sync them up and do a multi-camera project to edit after we film. It's similar to how we do our multi-camera live stream but we can be much more precise. Thanks for the note and for watching -Lincoln
Poor Nikki... She struggles so much when she explains the rules. She looks so nervous... And maybe she's trying to be very clear, but it always seems so drawn out.
@@boardgamegeek I think the trouble is that Dave is sooooo damn good at it that he makes it look so easy - its such a high standard to match. I think Nikki has improved and its good to do things out of your comfort zone every now and then
they are all at heart - gamers. wanting to spread the love and appreciation for the hobby, and usually more specifically for a game that they themselves like, maybe even love. it is such a massive challenge, both in a personal and professional sense, to do this. to make it a bit more relatable: whenever I teach a game I truly love I start to mumble and mix up rules and rush for a while then slow down a lot etcetc... let's rather appreciate how awesome this production has been for this past decade, and how GameNight kept evolving year by year, episode by episode. :)
It’s actually really hard explaining rules and making them make sense for other players. Trust me. I learn rules differently from my gf. She wants to play the game and learn the rules while playing. Everyone is different! Also not a good look to post a comment like this on a game night video. Not really sure what your motivation was. But maybe you could learn some things in terms of explaining rules.
I started watching the channel because I'm a fan of Deborah's work with Marvel, now I'm addicted to watching the old episodes. I loved your content.
I would like to compliment you on the ads. They are relevant to the video, short, and well placed. Nicely done.
seconded. tastefully done - kind of what you come to expect from GameNight.
This exactly, another reason I look forward to these videos
Upon first look, I would say that is the perfect thumbnail. There is no need for a second look. ;)
Thank you! -Lincoln
Their entertaining and well done videos don't get the upvotes they deserve. Come on folks, please take a second to do so!

Happy to see Deborah again, she cheers everyone up :)
The thumbnail is hysterical 😂 😂 I look forward every week, and with good reason 👍🏾
Yes, I agree!!!
This is the best explanation and walkthrough of the game. Thanks !!
Glad we could help! Thanks for the note and for watching the show. -Lincoln
Can't wait to put this on my shelf next to Jaws and Rear Window!

Rules Correction: Jumping OVER an agent, with ramps or E.T. Cards, is safe. LANDING on an agent, however, is called out as dangerous.
I love Deborah! Totally sound like 80s bands!
I remember when Police In Cars opened for Agents On Foot at that concert venue in that big field.

Okay, I had to go back and count them: Orange: 9, Blue: 4, Green: 1 - so essentially 14 dice w/o a phone.
@@davidarnott4850 these rolls came to bite them, that mothership is sleeping... as in: WHAT MOTHERSHIP :D it's a myth at this point :)
@@davidarnott4850 Probability of 14 dice consecutively w/o a phone is 0,34%, so it was indeed horrible luck!

Looks great, and I’m a huge fan of ET. Have Deborah bring Daredevil next time! :)
I remember when ET came out and I played the wonky Atari video game that was released at the same time, but I have still yet to watch the movie. 😲
Awesome thumbnail! 🚴
Four grown-ups who can't remember when they last rode a bike... To a Dutch guy that really sounds very weird...
Hahaha, me too! Ride my bike every day (also dutch 🫡)

do you have a fifth person to control the cameras during play or do you make the video afterward?

Bwahahh the thumbnail is so hillarous
I think this game would be easier with less players that would mean less agents on the field and less rolls till your turn is up.
Jeez, I guess E.T. Phone Home, was taken already.
👍
what a thumbnail
