I consider Rayong as a hidden gem. Even though it’s fairly well known, most travelers are looking at the 3 or 4 popular areas to settle down. This makes Rayon more appealing to me. Rayong has changed with a large shopping mall and increase in hotels and condos and cheaper than Pattaya. The future with the increase of industry. Rayong has a large fishing fleet. I also recommend Rayong as a place to live.

Nice vid. Jeez, I still shake my head at the small unit sizes. My wife and I live in a 100 square meter home here in Seattle and we can't imagine living in anything smaller once we retire in Asia. Guess we'll be paying thru the nose to get a bigger unit or just renting a house. But Rayong looks cool!

Beautiful building and I imagine Rayong continues to grow. It's a bit too industrial with many businesses and factories, they need more green spaces I think. The area is well poised for success.

I drove down to a refinery in Rayong it's huge I was told the refinery was amongst the world's largest. Unfortunately the refineries destroyed some of the beaches the Thais protested but the refineries required deep water for the shipping.

66 km from central Pattaya, I quite often go for a ride down there, it’s a nice ride and normally pretty quiet on the beaches 👍

That condo must be geared toward local factory workers looking for an investment in real estate as many Thais do. Way too small for actual living.

Michael I don't know if you have been to Thailand or seen how things are done there construction wise, but it is very different from the west. While the people of Thailand are very nice the standards of quality in construction and many manufactured products is not high.
@ccrider8483 never been there. Was hoping to retire in 3 years and was going to visit for 90 days and get a feel for it. Have been to Korea for a year. Any similarly?
@MichaelSuisse The only place I have ever been in Korea was the airport at Seoul.
One of the things that I don't like about Thai construction practices is that they over hydrate their concrete. When they are building multi-storey buildings and pouring structural columns with watery concrete it worries me.

Be very careful with buying off the plan style investments and rental guarantees from big property corporations. Vietnam has had big companies failing. Do your research and best to buy when you can inspect the build quality.
