Glad you made it Becky. Good decision not to cross with that heavy pack. It’s quite a gnarly ascent in wet conditions. Very slippery. Stay safe and ATB - Dave.
Its very gnarly up in the highlands . You cant cover the ground as fast as you think . The trick is minimalist gear , and really studying maps , great video really loved it
My all time favourite place in Scotland summer and winter, it has the best Boulder in the middle of the Glen. Spent a lot of my youth climbing in the Coe and now youth is finding it again.
Scree running is what it is called Becky. A great way of getting down quickly if you know what you are doing, I used to do it in the Lake District many years ago. Wear good gloves too! Another lovely video. Thanks. ;-)
Scotland is an absolutely beautiful place and your video and photography skills and most excellent. Glad you decided not to cross the river. It is good you are safety minded. Looking forward to many more Scotland videos. Thank you for sharing and have a super wonderful day.
Absolutely stunning Becky, I feel a profound sense of satisfaction and well being after watch this. I am so glad that you preserved and got into the Lost Valley, and put it out for us to enjoy also.. For some reason your hiking videos seem much more real than most of the others that I follow, so thank you again. I look forward to all of your videos and hope to see many more. Take care in these trying times Becky, stay safe and hike on.
Oh the lost valley was a fascinating place me and my dad got there years ago when camping. we didn't get into the valley but just admired the view there. Glad you got there to film it cause now I get a closer look of the valley thanks to your video.
Well done you!!! I lived in fort William for 10 years so I know how spectacular it can Be on a clear evening in the glen... a million stars ✨ plus you so a million and one ☝️. Can’t wait to get back out in the hills..
Good decision making to postpone it the first day - but I'm glad you got there because it's a special place. I did the walk in November a few decades back and remember it being icy and snowy. Dodgy as hell and I shouldn't have carried on but I did. It was all okay and I was well equipped, but it was absolutely the wrong decision! I remember reading about the place as a kid in a John Prebble book on the Glencoe massacre, and I'm glad I went. Great video yet again! 👍
Beautiful 👍👍👍. I have a similar 'Three Sisters' towering right behind my house in my Home Town of Kleinmond, South Africa. Also a popular Walking Trail with the Locals. Becky, the Mountains and Vegetation in the Kleinmond 'Overberg' (Over (the) Mountain) are so similar to that which you are showing us now, I could be looking at my Home Region .. makes one somewhat homesick .. the beauty thereof. Good choice to turn back when you did. Tomorrow will always be another day. Take care .. stay safe .. choose wisely ..
I found Glencoe and the valley on the map, it looks like a whole lunar landscape seen from above, you are really out and seeing Scotland right in the heart. A great video with beautiful mountain sides and all.
Love this, remends me of the lake district, how I miss being in the outdoors away from the bullshit, I love being out in the mountains, climbing and taking in the beautiful views.......... x
Getting close to 100k subs. Another great video. My ancestors came from the highlands. I can see why they left. Hard place to make a living. In a comment, someone mentioned carrying a staff. Good advice, as I worked as a hiking guide for years, and after a number of sprains, bruises, and breaks, I insisted everyone use a staff. Accidents decreased dramatically, specially good downhill. Best to you in the New Year, Becky.
I camped up there in 2018 in the snow. What a magical place it was. The wind that night was terrible though, I barely slept at all for the mice squeaking all about my tent and the fear of my Vango banshee 300 blowing down but it managed to stand up to everything that was thrown at it. Great video but, keep it up
Hey becks your doing great it was a good decision you made when your on your own best to be safe than sorry. Your life exploring is going to be so fantastic as your survival ./bushcraft skills will now help you along the way and give you more confidence.you go girlour doing great and owning your environment and understanding it. X see you soon .
Hi Becky, Just found your channel and really enjoying watching. Just an idea from my chef hubby when measuring out your porridge oats maybe add a little milk powder and when cooking your rice or pasta add a stock cube to the water, flavours the taste a little. Keep safe x
Happy new year Becky, i shall be looking forward to your videos for the new year. Keep it up. Your videos inspire not just me but a lot of people who are stuck at home alot . Look after yourself mate 😁
Beautiful video like you give some history of the area. I use “crocs” for water crossings/camp shoes/town shoes. Hiking poles do help. Best to play it safe with water and you still had a amazing camp! Be well and Trail on.
Hi Becks. That sport you were talking about was scree surfing I think ! Can I ask do you use walking poles as they come in handy when crossing streams on stepping stones. It's like having 4 legs, much steadier. I also take flip flops & a towel on multi day treks in Scotland for awkward river crossings. Just put your boots in your rucksack or tie the laces together around your neck/shoulders to cross & dry your feet at the other side. Great video. Lost Valley has been on my list for years. xx
If i got near those wonderful rocks in Scotland i would fill my pockets, backpack & nope cant walk now, but want to keep them all (damn-it) ! oh well, that really does happen to me on hikes (good-upload)
I've done three trips to Scotland, the last was 3 weeks mostly along the NW coast in 1997. I brought back a shoebox size box of rocks I collected while "hill walking" :) :) The Customs people looked at me like I was a nut case!! LOL I still have them too.
Hi Becky and Happy New year from Nz. First of all thank you for your sharing of your adventures. Particularly in parts of Scotland that I'll never see. Crossing rivers is an interesting subject. Depending on the depth and volume of water, you should ALWAYS have someone with you. Too many people think they're bullet proof, and nothing will or can touch them. But alas in search and rescue, and sadly in search and recover situations its not the case. Never Boulder hop, you go "through" the river, stream, burn etc. And always found I had better control of each step, when I was barefoot. Tie boots together and carry them around your neck, and hey presto dry boots and socks. Wet skin dries faster than wet socks. Yep the water is ccccold but you just deal with it. Love your channel. Take care and stay safe. Atb.
What an amazing spot to camp out though 😍 You can see how they were able to hide cattle down there looks an easy place to get lost in all that scree and steep stuff
Your videos are so peaceful and the music just adds to them. I live in the states and have not been able to do as much camping and activities with covid 19 restrictions. Can't wait for my vaccinations!
Beautiful country, 🌟🌟so interesting .Happy New Year to you, look forward to your next video, thank you for sharing🙏 stay safe cheers from Australian 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Superb as stated walking sticks and a cheap pair of shoes and waterproof socks. Btw tell me this was done a wee while ago as i cant imagine doing that just now in a vest! LoL
Well done for making the correct decision to camp before it got dark! I once had a night out on the Mamores in an orange emergency bag because I overdid it and couldn't get back down the mountain in daylight. Everyone should do that once because if you end up in a tight spot and have do it for real then the prospect of a night out in the open is a lot less scary. You should be absolutely fine leaving your tent and heavy gear in a place which is only likely to be visited by other hillwalkers. I have done it many times. Although here, famous last words, I once left my gear under a tree in the Cairngorms and when I returned it had been rifled by a bunch of young offenders from Perth out on a jolly. They get done for stealing from cars, breaking into houses and petty drug offences. So what do the authorities do, pack them into a minibus and send them off to the mountains for a few days to cause mayhem somewhere else. I never caused any trouble when I was a kid and I never got to have a camping holiday in the Cairngorms! Something not quite right here!!!
Ock well imagine mentioning that name, anyhow, ur a wee star, keep smiling, I just got a nice hot stove tent & mint camp stove looking forward to the west Highland way, I hope I bump into a beautiful lady like you, Happy New year my pal, all the best, we keep dreaming yet keep believing in the hope that we shall find a brighter day, n so it is God bless all the way fi bonnie Scotland, only love can hurt like this (am drunk) good night, we live to fight another day, ur a blessing, so b blessed. N b who u are in thea blue sky's, with full moons n stars. 🤗😘😴X x
Little tip reference your stove when you put your cooking pot on.. Use a grille off a computer fan and sit it under your pot and on top of the stove, you'll find this should give a better base for cooking on, instead of the 3 prongs.. Great video's by the way 😊
Next time bring a shaleile with you. Did I spell that correctly? What do I know I'm Italian! Lol. A nice long wooden hiking staff. Helps in river crossings. Beautiful scenery. Looks like you really enjoyed yourself.
Obviously he was a very canny Scot to use that area Bec. You were wise to regroup and try again. Thanks for sharing your adventures for those of us who can't be there. Bushyboy Oz.
Amazing Fairytale Place thank you for Sharing, Stay Safe / Cautious planning (probably just needed good walking stick too) Enjoy, Happy Adventuring 2021

Adding this place to the hit list! At this rate half of Scotland will be on it... The camp under The Three Sisters looked stunning 👍
And half of the Scottish people will be on it too ✌️☺️👍
