Just a fun tongue-in-cheek reference to the rumor among kids in the fandom at the time.
Ok, so having read all three of the novels, I’d have to say that The Silver Eyes has the best standalone story. The Twisted Ones is the best written in terms of descriptions and dialogue, and The Fourth Closet is my least favorite as it goes full Scott insane explanations and there’s all around way too many contrivances. I think despite some reaches in logic in The Twisted Ones, it still stands tall for having really well crafted suspense scenes and a shocking ending that was unfortunately ruined in the epilogue.
Looks like we have a consistent consensus then. The Silver Eyes really has that kind of self contained story which leaves you perfectly satisfied and without almost any real lingering questions at the end. I'll be honest, I listened to the audiobook expecting fun garbage, but I actually cared about what was going on. Dumb decisions that were made did fit contextually in the story, and the characters felt like real people. I was legitimately creeped out more than once. This book was way better than it needed to be
Recently a weirdly amount of content creators in the Fnaf community have managed to perfectly encapsulate my nostalgia and my minds-eye memories of the Fnaf series, (sqimpus’s fnaf vhs, fnaf deluxe and it’s promotional stuff for example, along with a few others) the music, the intro, the theming, and especially the story you share near the end of the video of your mind racing with animatronic and creepypasta stuff really takes me back to 2014-2015, more so than nearly anything has in a long time. Well done with this whole retrospective series, dude.
I like this book a lot the setup reminded me of my bloody valentine, saw, and scream. I’m super exited to see you cover twisted ones as that’s probably my favorite book out of the series even though it is a bit more Syfy thriller than pure horror. I love the scene in this novel where afton slowly exits the springlock suit and how it describes his scared body and how this life has not been painless and how even though it hurts him he still enters the suit to preform his gruesome actions. And the scene where William describes the twisted saw trap torment the body will go through with all the bloody gory details that scene lives rent free in my brain as my favorite moment in literature ever.
I always picture the books as their own continuity, kinda like how the Resident evil novelization are in their own universe compared to the actual games.
I remember about 6 years ago when I was watching FNAF in real life videos as any kid would I stumbled apon aone certain video. It didn't specifically say it was FNAF irl but the man describing it talked of a chucke chesse like place that multiple kids went missing from. He said scott probably go inspiration from this place when making FNAF. Now I'm 99% sure it was fake but the real kicker was this was in Huricane, Utah... 1 year before the book came out.
I feel like the twisted ones and fourth closet kinda ruin this for me, without spoiling anything some of the reveals in the later books kinda ruin the themes in it and ruin the characters, I feel like they shouldn’t had introduced sci-fi into these books, honestly personally I just read the first one.
I agree completely, having finished the trilogy after being spoiled shortly after blissfully listening to The Silver Eyes. The Twisted Ones whilst with some problems plot wise and missing characters, was still enjoyable. But I have almost absolutely no defence for the direction The Fourth Closet took plot wise despite its abundance of good character moments. Especially with that ending twist and abrupt epilogue. The twist especially is a massive retcon that requires serious mental gymnastics to let it stick because of how much information contradicts it in the previous novels. It raises more questions than it answers, and creates problems that didn't exist before whilst never addressing existing ones. The first book I'd only give minor editing tweaks, a few dialogue changes to characters like John who isn't utilized to his full potential (especially later in the sequels). For the second book, maybe the same. For the third book however, we can throw it into the furnace and go back to the drawing board. This bloody thing violates the geneva convention.
Wait... "They discover an old failed mall project had been built there, but when they go inside to explore, they find out Freddy Fazbear's was never torn down, just built around." Is it possible the Pizzaplex from Security Breach and the mall from Silver Eyes are one in the same?
Sagan looks like the antagonist of a musical that starts out like a parody of high school musical but slowly devolves into a serial murder mystery where a band kid did it for inspiration

When it comes to the prose that was shown off, describing things that are supposed to be scary and happening quickly with lengthy descriptions instead of quick statements dampens the mood. If something's chasing you, or you're trying to hide and stay quiet, you're hyper focused on that and what is in front of you or slowing/stopping you.
Sit down and listen awhile, read the book, and maybe play the games again. While The Community and Scott have a stroke with the mess that is happening we should just reminisce

I really love these videos! I think they do an excellent job recapping the history of each thing you cover. Your deep dives are such a wonder to listen to, even for someone like me who knows everything you're talking about already. One small issue I had with this one in particular however is that the little parts where you read excerpts from the novel feel a tad bit too long and feel like they're just there to pad out the run time. I found myself just skipping forward past them after the second one. That could just be me though. You still did an amazing job on this video as a whole!
The editing on this retrospective was fantastic. I loved the excerpt at the beginning. The music and background added to it even more. Looking forward to the next one!
I’m so glad I’ve found someone who feels the same about this book! I always hoped they’d make a movie for it but I’m going to stay optimistic about the Michael one they’re working on now~ The Twisted Ones hot take: they animatronics should have busted into the cafeteria to nab Charlie instead of her running off to find a house I still don’t understand the purpose of and falling sleeping- it was a great horror moment to see the Freddy eating at the end of the bed, but I can’t wrap my head around the point of that home even now. And I just wish the cafeteria was more important tbh.

I kind of hate how much of the lore we have from the books instead of the games. Like some of the most important things such as Henry, the afton family, others were revealed via books. It seems he doesn’t have 100k, let’s motivate more people to subscribe with a control shock
yes!!
Silver eyes was such a good book. The graphic novel version really hurt to read
Why
@@orpheusp8906 cause the book was so good, and graphic novel was a stripped and watered down mess
@@orpheusp8906 it's like watching Netflix version of a anime. They striped the majority of the good parts and watered it down
Yeah they improved with the twisted ones
Yeah x_x
I'll be honest, I listened to the audiobook expecting fun garbage, but I actually cared about what was going on.
Dumb decisions that were made did fit contextually in the story, and the characters felt like real people.
I was legitimately creeped out more than once.
This book was way better than it needed to be
Recently a weirdly amount of content creators in the Fnaf community have managed to perfectly encapsulate my nostalgia and my minds-eye memories of the Fnaf series, (sqimpus’s fnaf vhs, fnaf deluxe and it’s promotional stuff for example, along with a few others)
the music, the intro, the theming, and especially the story you share near the end of the video of your mind racing with animatronic and creepypasta stuff really takes me back to 2014-2015, more so than nearly anything has in a long time.
Finally glad he covered one of my favourite books
(Long intro with a tense and terrifying excerpt from the book)
"cAtCh FoRtNiTe HiGhLiGhTs WiTh YoUr ScReEn LoCkEd"
Same here
Wow, great job with that intro, looks really atmospheric and stylish
Wait... "They discover an old failed mall project had been built there, but when they go inside to explore, they find out Freddy Fazbear's was never torn down, just built around."
Is it possible the Pizzaplex from Security Breach and the mall from Silver Eyes are one in the same?
You should do this for all the Fnaf books
It says in the description that he will do all the books!
book review, seems legit.
The best part about of the books isn’t the characters or the plot. It’s the birth of Dave Miller mr eggplant man himself!
sagan reading for an auidobook of the trilogy would be so dope
I loved the style of how the book excerpts were done! Just brimming with atmosphere
Sagan looks like the antagonist of a musical that starts out like a parody of high school musical but slowly devolves into a serial murder mystery where a band kid did it for inspiration
R/oddlyspecific
@@patinhoquemoralogoali9280 am I wrong though
These novels are kinda nostalgic to me
wake up babe new fnaf retrospective just dropped
in all seriousness glad you’re doing these bc i don’t want to read the books but i don’t want to miss out on the info
Pretty convenient timing to have just finished the Ultimate Custom Night Retrospective it seems
i’ve been so amped waiting for this, your videos are so amazing

When it comes to the prose that was shown off, describing things that are supposed to be scary and happening quickly with lengthy descriptions instead of quick statements dampens the mood. If something's chasing you, or you're trying to hide and stay quiet, you're hyper focused on that and what is in front of you or slowing/stopping you.
i was so invested in the opening that i jumped when an ad came on
I read the entire book series like a month ago for the first time, couldnt have timed it any better
Wait dude would you ever be willing to make an audio book for these books? I'd love to reread this book while driving and your voice is so satisfying!
Sit down and listen awhile, read the book, and maybe play the games again. While The Community and Scott have a stroke with the mess that is happening we should just reminisce
Question: Since your doing a retrospective on the FNAF novels does this mean your also doing a retrospective on the Fazbear frights stories?
They are too new
@@zygard1621 once they're done
To him, they might be too insane
@@Devin-qq6fd That's DEFENETLY true lmao

I appreciate that u went over the actual events of the book and I hope u do so with the next one since I haven’t read it.
*I have waited my whole life for this.*
"I look like a mess."
The most beautiful mess I've ever seen.
Yesssss I’m so excited you’re doing a retrospective on the books!!!!!!
I can’t wait to see you cover the full fledged fight scene in the twisted ones that anyone rarely talks about
Dude, I found you when you uploaded your first fnaf retrospective and never noticed that you had less than 100k subs. Your content is sooooo gooooooood. you deserve at least 500k subs or more. Keep it up and you'll reach your goals!
oh my god i love everything about this video but especially the old vhs aesthetic. it really completes the vibe
The Silver Eyes excerpt sounds like a song
Now this is the stuff that makes you stop what your doing
Love all your retrospectives and definitely all fnaf related ones. Great to just listen to a recap and get a whole story while just sitting back.
I love this guy's videos, just got into him with that big fnaf full series retrospective. Gifted to me by the algorithm, keep up the great work young fool.
Scott cawthon: Ight we got to distinguish these guys from the other Robots. What do we call them...
Oh I know how about the silver eyes?
Everyone: do you have any idea how little that narrows it down!
I've never read any of the novels, but I'm still super curious
I love this book so much I feel like not enough fnaf channels talk about this series and its lore
Had to put my suit on just to watch this, broke out the Chardonnay as well
"I look like a mess"
HA! Join the club.
only an absolute mad man would subjugate himself to such a horrifying experience such as the books
damn they must be really scary then
IDK why, but I have never played or cared for FNAF but just found your retrospective series so captivating that I ended up binge-watching all of them in the span of a couple days. Good work with your videos!
Segan hawks summarizing a story that would take 20+ hours to read into a 20 minute video lol
Just recently found your channel since I’ve been reminiscing back with Five Nights at Freddy’s, and just gotta say you’re great!
You really nailed the atmosphere with this video. Good job bro!
As a first attempt at writing, The Silver Eyes is really impressive.
I always hoped they’d make a movie for it but I’m going to stay optimistic about the Michael one they’re working on now~
The Twisted Ones hot take: they animatronics should have busted into the cafeteria to nab Charlie instead of her running off to find a house I still don’t understand the purpose of and falling sleeping- it was a great horror moment to see the Freddy eating at the end of the bed, but I can’t wrap my head around the point of that home even now. And I just wish the cafeteria was more important tbh.
I really like the vhs style, keep up the good work!
Can't believe my comment made it in, great vid man
You have no idea how long I've been waiting for this. The documentary format u do. Is crazy good
I found this guy's channel yesterday with the entire FNAF retrospective. Now UA-cam already recommends the video mere hours after there uploaded. Time to sub
I love putting these videos up on my TV and watching them like little movies. Very awesome love the work
Love the intro , feels like the opening to a made for tv horror film from the ‘70’s or a Stephen King miniseries.
And just when we thought we hand enough FNAF after the first retrospective series.
I remember renting ‘The Silver Eyes’ from my school library a few years ago.
It still baffles me that my school actually bought books like that
@Sagan Hawkes thanks alot for realising this when u did ive been really ill today and the video helped cheer me up a lot
I love that old VHS animation, its super well done.
Dude the production quality of your videos is amazing
dude wtf i scrolled down expecting too see a few million subscribers purely for how well made interesting and well paced and edited these video are, this is criminally under rated, Im freaking subing, Im joining the club
Once again this content is pretty good hopefully you get more subs soon you deserve it!!
Honestly didn’t know we would be revisiting the series so soon. You are kicking ass with the rate of content you drop, Thank you so much
I’m addicted to watching your fnaf retrospectives. Something about them is so appealing and interesting
Thank you for making a series I look forward too.
i love those parts where you read sections with the music and visual effects, really atmospheric!
I remember reading it back in 2017. nostalgia
Book series retrospect dropped, less goo
I kind of hate how much of the lore we have from the books instead of the games. Like some of the most important things such as Henry, the afton family, others were revealed via books. Imagine if the final boss of silk song was first revealed via a novel that takes place in a different canon. That’s basically the level we’re on.
It's gonna be sad when we get older and look back at our favorite UA-camrs, games, celebrities, anything that is good right now and was good a couple of years ago. We'll have a lot of stories to tell to our grandkids
Can you apply to narrate the whole book for an audiobook? Your narration is nice!
Yes!
Dude sometimes I just think about how I live in hurricane, and how crazy it is that this story is told in my home town.
man, i absolutely love your intro
Babe wake up Sagan Hawkes made a silver eyes retrospective
yoooooo i'm really glad you're starting to do the books, you're my guy for this stuff
PLEASE DO AN ENTIRE READING OF THIS PLEASE ITS SO GOOD
