I actually think that If I get the RS3 over the S3 is just because of sound, because the price difference is very significant, and they are basically the same car, almost same design, same transmission, same AWD, if you like the power of the RS3 just tune your S3 and that’s it 😅
At the beginning it says the Rs3 has the 7 speed DSG, and the S3 has a 7 speed auto, probably a fwd ZF transmission, RS3 performance is amazing but so is the price, as amazingly high. EDIT Looks like the same transmission? Guess the engines are the big difference.
@@garys2157 Both cars have DSG transmissions. S3 has dq381 if it's 7 speed or dq250 if it's 6 speed (non FL s3's have dq250, while FL's get dq381). Rs3 has and always had dq500. dq500 > dq381 > dq250.
Both cars are very cool, though my preference would be the RS3 because 5 cylinder engine is always better than a 4 cylinder engine IMO. I drive a 5 cylinder Volvo. 🙂
I hope y’all see this, but it’s the gearing difference in the transmission, NOT THE power. this is done on purpose to further distinguish the RS3 from a S3. If you look at the gearing difference you’ll easily see.

Was not... impressed, which merely puts me back to square one. They were "nicer" and certainly better-equipped... probably faster too, in certain environs. But the "feeling" was off, if that makes any sense. Numb, even vs. my routine commute efforts. Edit: I'm a QV owner. Exactly why I do not buy the RS3, unless I hear the exhaust it is difficult to know which is which. When you see an M2 pass by, you know it is an M2, not a 328 or a 335. I get it is one nice 5 pot bast of an engine, but that does not justify the pricetag with a S3 exterior.

You should do 50km,60km and 80km rolls and see how it goes. I would also like to see a stage 2 mk7.5r vs Stock rs3
This makes my next purchase difficult. You need a drone for better camera angles and overhead views. Great job
@Richard jurczak. .. +1. The sight lines are horrendous providing zero viewer orientation. The progression of the subject matter must be in view of the viewer. .. A wee bit of camera oreintation practice is a good thing. ..
For those that aren’t familiar with Unitronic tuning, its the most reserve of all the options on the market for the MQB platform.
That 5th cylinder made the difference
7:08 that head jerk wasn't timed properly with the upshift.
😂🤦♂️
😂 I’m dead. I was thinking the same
S3 all day long i have a full bolt on audi s3 stage 2 and im mirror to mirror with my buddies stock 2018 ttrs
Jeez those seats in that rs3 🔥🔥🔥
@@2K5W9M1 I have the upgraded seats in my S3 and they are just amazing😌Anyone know if the RS has the same fuel capacity as the S3?(I don’t think I’ve ever gotten 300 miles on a tank😳)
Second. Best shqipe in town. 🇦🇱
Thank you shqipe 🇦🇱
What's a shqipe? 🤷♂️
@@wbwayne8887 hahaha. That got me laughing so hard
@@wbwayne8887 its kinda long story. So there is a country in Europe called Albania. 🇦🇱. The native people of that country call the country SHQIPERIA. and they call each other SHQIPE. OR. SHQIPTAR.
SHQIPERIA means Land of the Eagles. SHQIPE CAN ALSO IN SHORT BE AN EAGLE.
The Q is pronounced CH. As in Cherry. Or China.
@@wbwayne8887 you may ask why we call our country a different name then the one in English. That's also a long story. But to give a few examples. Germans don't call Germany Germany. They call it Deutschland (doych·land). Or Japanese call Japan NIPON.
OK THAT'S IT. PEACE.
4k seems like a lot for downpipes, cai, unlocked pcm and a tune.
The S3 sounds like a fart can
Both cars are very cool, though my preference would be the RS3 because 5 cylinder engine is always better than a 4 cylinder engine IMO. I drive a 5 cylinder Volvo. 🙂
The S5 has 6 cylinders...
@ Sam - yes but not relevant to this video with an S3 and an RS3…
My friend has an RS3 and it's tuned to almost 1,000HP - it's a red one and featured on 1320 video! A monster!
yes, most likely the IROZ kit, they are amazing, low 9s/ high 8s 1/4 mile
Next time. Chat about the specs like real persons instead of the annoying 2 kids on 2 way radios.
I hope y’all see this, but it’s the gearing difference in the transmission, NOT THE power.
this is done on purpose to further distinguish the RS3 from a S3.
If you look at the gearing difference you’ll easily see.
Let's be honest the rs3 makes 380-400whp stock from most dyno sheets
So the RS3 basically wins in power weight ratio here? I was under the same impression but I wouldn’t be surprised if the S3 is making 400 wheel as well. My A3 with an IS20 is making 350 wheel with same mods and EQT tune
It would also be nice to have an Avalon touring or TRD on here cuz we haven’t seen that yet
That s3 DSG slipped at 1st gear. Not sure if it was a clutch issue or just a nature of wet clutch dct. And RS3 cost more for a reason lol
lol, wut? I didn't get any clutch slip for any of these runs...
@@andreportolesi6867 I was just guessing... Then I'm wrong.
Love all your videos
Thank you
RS3 vs 3.0 Supra annnnnnd go
The drivetrain is not the same.
The Torsen quattro makes the difference.
yeah Haldex(s3) vs proper Quattro(RS3).. makes a big difference. I"ve driven both and the Quattro is so good in pretty much all conditions with peace of mind. With haldex I was worrying about damaging it over potholes and bumpy airtime situations..
I just got an 2015 A3 prestige. Now I want more hp and customization. I wonder can I get a pocket rocket out of it?
So no intercooler on the S3? Normally you need that for stage 2.
Keep doing the new car vs the old car. And a older lesser model tuned/modified car vs a new higher spec sport model. I love these!
Basically it’s all about the mode
The Audi RS3 still holds the world record for the fastest Audi car. That 5 cyl is absolutely nuts
I have a s3 2017 with a tune stage 2 and tcu also and no muffleurs delete but a cold air intake new spark plug a down pipe all the brand name is induct performance canada speedshop and tune to 27 pound of boost almost 28 psi 94 pump gaz no dyno tested but around 400 hp and maybe 375 ppund feet of torque but it quick and fast to a 100km/h to 150 it is in no time so verry happy of mine for now but no more mods in the future a got 5 k on it with gauge AEM wideband it enough for me
Is the S3 on stock intercooler? I didnt hear intercooler as part of the mod list. Stock intercooler is going the hurt the S3 because data logs prove that they get heat soaked even in stock form. I haven't watched the video yet but I'll guess that the S3 loses performance with each run due to IATs increasing
S3 owner here! The IC is still stock. That is next on my list along with RS7 spark plugs, coil packs, charge pipes and an exhaust. :)
ya they get so hot that the battery can over heat if you are running it too hard (by experience lol)
IE stage 2 with Full E85 Flextune may paint a different picture IMO
Should’ve been done with the A3 and the s3 since they both share a ea888..
most people like me spring for the A3 and build it up to 290hp for 4k as well
power curve is likely different enough...5c are beasts, I know it😅
I have a tuned s3 and have never tried the launch control
Use the flappy paddles (M mode) 😉
Can you please find a tuned s4 vs rs5 or rs3 race, I have a apr stage 1 b9 s4 and would love to see it
S3 have a DCT too 0:31
I want to see stock both cars rs3 stock vs s4 stick and then rs3 tune vs S5 tune.also make the stinger vs s3
I know the four cylinder has had issues. I wonder how reliable the five cylinder is in comparison? I would imagine the five is running far less boost.
Audi's 5pots are known to be almost indestructable.
Stumbled across this vid bc was looking to trade in for something new; tested a new + used M3 today. Whilst waiting for the dealer to get hold of their inbound RS3, also gave an S3 & S4 a chance too. Was not... impressed, which merely puts me back to square one. They were "nicer" and certainly better-equipped... probably faster too, in certain environs. But the "feeling" was off, if that makes any sense. Numb, even vs. my routine commute efforts.
Edit: I'm a QV owner. It's got plenty of ownership faults (to be sure), but it's drivability is so far ahead of anything I took the fam in today. Maybe I should stop comparing the next car to how the AR runs. Because it's not even the same language. 🙄
I like these models the best love the way they look
*_Julia is the real MVP...!_*
She deserves some airtime on the channel...
I'm sure all the guys agree...?
Absolutely
Ive been deep diving ito modifiying my 2018 audi s3 and for something like 12,000 you can take the S3 to equilibrium tuning and make the s3 a 710whp e85 chugging fire breathing monster.
I wish these car reviewers would stop saying/talking about Quattro as though it's only one system. Quattro is Audi's branded AWD, well full-time 4WD system. There are different versions, esp. depending on transversely-mounted versus longitudinally-mounted engines. So please say which Quattro system the car has and include the rear diff. too, since they aren't all the same.
If the S3 had a stock intercooler it was heat soaked the whole time
The rs3 was stock….. a stage 2 tune would literally make it take a dump on the S3
@Bruce_bianchi that guys s3 is fucked must be a shit driver also
Wait until you require boost when in efficient mode, only just bought a 8V S3 310, and was going down the motorway, wanted to put the hammer down and it didn’t feel any different to my Ibiza FR 😂
If its 4k spent for the tune than it may be more than just a stage 2 tune. However if its a stage 2 tune and the tcu is tuned I will take the S3 for the win. I have a golf r tuned stage 1+ and I raced a stage 1 audi ttrs and lost but it wasnt that much of a difference so ya I'd say a stage 2 S3 beats the stock rs3.
Yep bang on. Stage 2 ea888 should just pip a stock RS3. Will be close!
I ran 11.93 on this local track (Cayuga) on a hotter day and 11.84 at St Thomas in a Uni stg2 Golf r. Barely beat a stock rs3 (he ran 11.85 and 11.89). His buddies ran low 11s (stage 1 most likely). Same night I beat a stage 3 s3 (as he called it). He couldn't get out of 12.2s that night.
@@Reptil33 Stage 3 s3 so he did a turbo swap ? Cause thats what a Stage 3 is all about and fuel pump , etc. I'm betting not. Maybe the S3 tuned just cant do as well as the Golf R.. that surprises me. Good runs in your golf. Mine's a 2016 and have stayed at the 1+ tune for now.
@@vroomgc Thanks! I won't name the shop to avoid a war here but I think that's what they told him was a stage 3. I actual forget if he said he had an upgraded turbo. I know the ecu & dsg flash weren't Unitronic. He was full weight and had Indy 500 tires. I typically mixed e85 and e98 in mine to avoid knock I'm not sure he knew about it and may have struggled with heatsoak even with increased power (if he did upgrade the turbo).
@@Turtle-sz7sk Exactly, plus a Stage 2 also includes a dp.
Audi RS7 vs RS6 please and great race btw
The son has the old RS3 (360hp) tuned to 415hp and that thing is properly fast. Seriously doubt a 2020 RS3 won’t stand a chance despite having an extra gear.
Let's tune the 2020 RS3 as well and see who is faster shall we :-)
Neither are truly Quattro, but the RS AWD is better than the S. I own a the same S model.
Looking forward to the 2022 RS3 new awd system
they both use the exact same Haldex system but the TTRS/RS3 are calibrated and tuned definitely than the Golf R/TTS/S3
8Y S3 tuned keeps up way better than a stock RS3. The evo4 engine makes about 50 more hp than the 8V.
Doesn’t the S3 have the haldex system like a golf R?
Yes it does and the Rs3 is quattro
would rather just get a CPO RS3 with warranty price difference vs. new S3 would be pretty close to tuning an S3 plus you look cooler with the nicer car vs. a sleeper that isn't always faster or overall is still slower.
I'd want to see an EQT tuned s3 like mine vs that s3
Now put 4K into the RS3… no brainer
How much more are parts for a engine that’s in relatively few cars vs every second car on the road. Unless you like expensive bills… no brainer
the RS3 is 25K more new ya dummy.
S3 have haldex awd not quattro. I belive the rs3 are geared differently too.
The tune done on it is not good if you want. A proper tunning for audi's go FoR an ABT tuning
Kick ass video. 👍👍👍
How do the s3 do against b9 s4?
Exactly why I do not buy the RS3, unless I hear the exhaust it is difficult to know which is which. When you see an M2 pass by, you know it is an M2, not a 328 or a 335. I get it is one nice 5 pot bast of an engine, but that does not justify the pricetag with a S3 exterior.
5 cylinders and a dct... really can't beat that value, I'm just imaging if they ever put a manual back in
The presenter in the red shirt isn't using launch control correctly. You can clearly see the car falling flat when he pulls forward. The dude in the S3 will always win at a stand still with the RS3 bogging like that. It's unfortunate because I REALLY wanted to see how these two cars matched up when all conditions are done correctly.
