I have had the '16 Golf R which was the first year a manual transmission was available in the US so I ordered it early and took delivery of one of the first ones off the assembly line. Like your S3, mine is now APR Stage 2 with all the supporting mods. It is a very livable daily driver but its Jekle & Hyde demeanor is just a throttle blip away. I always enjoy seeing how others with the same engine and mods are faring.

Good video, new S3 owner however went the IE route and loving it.
B8.5 S4, just bought last year.
It was between the s3 and s4 and I went for the s4 due to growing family. Stage 1/intake/suspension for me and I think they’re probably close in a straight line.
I can see no matter what I chose I would’ve been happy.

Only one $12 sensor as my only issue.
Seriously 444hp daily, enough room for my family of four, comfortable as heck (even on coils for the adaptive suspension) when I’m not trying to zoom. I love my car every day!
About to give her some drilled and slotted rotors and better pads tomorrow. Upgraded heat exchanger and massive crank pulley (190mm) ready for next spring to go Stage 2. After that I think she’ll be “done.”
My best dragy is 12.06 @ 113.7mph. That’s full weight with car seats, street tire and all. On a (totally empty) public road with zero prep. 93 pump gas. 60-130mph Im seeing 12.09-12.16. For reference, that’s the same (12.1-12.2) as multiple Scat Packs here on YT. Next spring she’ll be easily sub 12 seconds with the Stage 2. That’s plenty for what this car is and not a lot of money for that level of performance.
I will say s4s are fast but I have a stage 2 apr s3 and I destroy a stage 2 dual pulley s5

@@cavan216 nothing and I absolutely love my s3 every body knows it and in my opinion turbo cars are more fun to drive.
Very nice car. I noticed you’re in Washington. I owned a 2017 Audi S3 with APR Stage 1 for a couple of years. I enjoyed it a lot. I recently switched to an Audi S5 Sportback. Thinking about doing Stage 1 then to Stage 2 at Achtuning in Redmond.
Don’t lower it. If you do this it will ruin the ride - makes it undriveable. I did this to my s3 and regretted it badly. Back to stock springs now and it’s way better (it just doesn’t look as good). Spend your money on a big brake kit - way better investment to make the tuned s3 a better drive.

I literally bought this S3 from this video. I lowered on coils, it rides horrible. I am going back to stock magride with lowering springs and paying the price for my mistake
How about air suspension
I think that stance is fine bro. If you're gonna drop it, use coilovers. The springs will just make you rub.

Long time ago I had a couple Audi’s where I changed the Vag Com codes to allow for all types of changes has this been replaced by the OBD11 you were talking about?

me too, this was one of the videos that sold me on the S3 , a few months ago I picked up a low mileage 2018 S3 and in stock condition, its still pretty dam quick (4.5 sec 0-60). It truly is a pleasure to drive it, handles superbly, has that "tossable" chasis. Perfect daily for me, if it baby the throttle I can easily get 29-30 MPG on the hgwy. I will be going stage 1/2 after one year of owning it. Did you ever get yours?

I just picked up a 16. Stock, for another two days. Then IE stage 2. My only gripe so far is body roll. Going around a corner to test it yesterday I just about went off the road into a guardrail lol. Maybe i was just going too fast but I hear a lot of people get sway bars to fix it.

sweet car i have a 2015 s3 i would like to get those gauges and i have obd 11 i did see an option for that and one more thing i have coilovers and i can't get my warning light to come of i have the dealt kit for it and still have a code for it so if you planning to get working right please let me know i would appreciate it

Looks like the power gauges aren't working properly. Showing either 0 or 100%, nothing in between in the video. Was is some temporary glitch, or is that how they work on an S3 (since they're not supported as stock)?

Did you have an upgraded turbo or stock?
The S3 are awesome! I have one. In the shop right now though. I was running the IE stage 2 tune and their DSG tune, MQB front mount intercooler, CTS turbo and down pipe, and Neuspeed intake. Unfortunately my turbo failed on my car. I didn't get a chance to get any numbers on the car before it happened. Now putting together a simple setup. All listed above with different turbo, tune. Hopefully I'll get some numbers this time.
Im just about to do a stage 2 IE tune on my 2018 Audi s3. What did you think of the tune? And do you think it could have caused you're turbo to fail?
@Erik Boog no it wasn't the tune. Could of been a number of different things. The first time it was a stock IS38 with 034 tune. Trial and error. Now I'm running IE stage 3 tune, DSG tune, intercooler, down pipe, and the Garrett GT2260S turbo and other little things here and there. The I had this installed on my car the tune it was still in development. So the tuner from AZ euros was working with IE to get a beta file to flash. Then it was reflashed when they released their tune. But this setup works for me. Smiles for miles. No issues.

First, Great video! I live in sSeattle, I've got 1 2017 Vegas Yellow S3, just traded in my black 2015 S3, love this car. I ordered a MBRP cat back, Achtuning is putting it in, in a few weeks. You said that you can no longer get to Stage 2? Could you explain more? Thanks
My tuner said APR discontinued it for the S3 probably because there is so little difference in HP from stage 1 and it requires upgrades that will run you thousands of dollars to safely run it.

I assume you mean keep up with an S7, unless your S3 runs 3 second flat 0-100? That's what a Stage 1 rs7 will do.

Nice vid/car. I have stage1+ jetta gli first car. In 2 years I plan to upgrade to a new whip so I'm thinking s3(because golf r are more expensive plus s3 looks better) or I could just go bmw 335/340. Those straight six sound mean and can push 450+ hp. I'm leaning towards the beamer tho because it's a nicer car but the reliability won't be as good as the ea888

it will be quieter and no pops and bangs on a stock downpipe. But the mbrp exhaust is still great! and a good thing to get if you are still interested in going stage 2.

Awesome, TTS is great! APR discontinued their downpipe and tune file because of EPA regulations. Unitronic, Revo, and a couple other places i think still offer stage 2 but do your research! A 2017 TTS Stage 2 build would be epic, its a mini R8 after all XD

Yep! 6k miles in and it runs perfectly. Absolutely no issues.

Bruh I had the same exact car/color ('17) haha. I just traded it in for a '18 RS3. On the s3 I was bone stock. Was an awesome car, so fun to drive and tossable but I wanted more so I got the RS lol. I just tuned it to stage 1+ unitronic. Will be getting boltons put in the next few weeks and I'll be stage 2 real soon, can't fkin wait lol

I am sure you have answered this before, but how much did it cost going stage 2? I want an S3 just so i can smoke every fool in their challenger/charger/mustang here in TX but i'm worried how much it would cost to do so. Thanks in advance! And i'm assuming stage 2 would smoke most of these stock V8's?

I love your paddle shifters! Does it really push 400HP with your upgrades? I have 2016 Audi S3 with APR STAGE II 93 octane only, unitronic downpipe, cold air intake, and APR intercooler. I went and got a dyno and it dyno'd at only 340? My car definitely feels like its up there around 400HP and i feel like they Dyno was off. APR does say about 380HP with the stage II 93 file.
