God bless Dr Barnard
Ameeen 🙏🏾.
AMEN
6 years old, but still golden.
glad find it again
I have tried different diets for the past 4yrs and by far going Vegan has been the easiest transition ever. My first vegan meal was vegan shepherds pie and that won me over lol. Thanks Dr. Neal.
⁰⁰
My first vegan shepherd's pie was in Orlando at Ethos. I think they called it Sheep's Pie. lol. Delicious!
Cool. Thanks for your insight.
Good work
I absolutely love Dr. Neal Barnard! He is so smart and gracious and also funny! He has some really good jokes and I wish people would laugh more with him!
Some people are insulted that Dr. Barnard says Fargo is not such a great place! I live in Anchorage. People can say the same. Who cares? We do have many problems - huge homeless issue, big crime issue, crummy weather 9 months of the year, etc., etc., etc. He calls a spade a spade!
For the sake of accuracy and full disclosure, it'd be good for PBN to indicate somewhere that this video is actually 6 years old. It's still excellent and well worth watching.
Funny. I thought I had seen it before and thought it weird.
That’s why he looks so young!!! It’s deceiving.
Dr. Neal Barnard still looks healthy and great. I began my Vegan journey almost three years ago; I look terrible due to depression and PTSD. However, my kids and wife started to eat some of my vegan food too if it tastes good. The good news is that my back pain disappeared for no reason. I had hip pain since I was 12 years old. All of a sudden I was free from back pain since 2019. Now I am 54 years old. I wish I started planted-based food early on in life. My back injury was caused by being forced to work in a labor camp when I was 8 or 9 during Khmer Rough, Cambodian Communist regime. I got PTSD when my parents were executed by the communist regime. Anyway, I am glad to be part of a vegan community. Love and Compassion to you all.
So sorry!! May GOD heal you.
That's amazing... We all wished we have started earlier... I'm 35 and have been eating WFPB for 2 years mainly influenced by that man in this video and I think of that everyday of what would have been today if I would have been vegan all my life.
@@therhyme1 Thanks. It makes me stronger every day even though sometimes I want to give up. A little word of encouragement from a stranger meant a lot to me.
Jed. You have seen too much pain in your life. I wish you good health and a happy life. 🦘
I'm so sorry Jet, that you had to go through that kind of hell. I'm so glad God brought increased healing through this doc's healthy eating plan. I am praying for the healing of your heart, also, that any residual sorrow & grief would be removed from your being.
Dr. Barnard, you really changed the way I look at food, thank you so much dear !
Love, love, LOVE seeing new videos from Dr. Barnard! I can listen to him for hours at a time! Sending Love, Respect & Gratitude from Fairmont West Virginia USA. STAY BLESSED!!! 💘
Ok, nice story.
Very nice speaker, Dr. Barnard. Thank you
Not me, been mostly vegan for a long time.
I could sleep with a ear piece with his lectures😊
We took the advice Dr. Barnard gives and went vegan cold turkey. Within a short time my A1c from 8.4 came down to 7.4, LDL and cholesterol within normal limits, and cut down on my insulin. We also lost weight!! We will never look back to old eating habits!! Thank you Dr. Barnard.
7.4 is still diabetic
Love Dr Barnard...he makes things so easy to understand!👍🌱🥒
@43:00
So true about taste buds / taste preference changing.
After not eating my usual garbage for a bout two months I just had to break and get a Burger King bacon, egg, and cheese croissant. Well, I could it wasn't what I had enjoyed for years. It was too salty and left a layer of grease on my hands and lips. It tasted ok but after the third bite I concluded, "well that was the flavor I remember but I never need to eat that again".
Same story with anything that I used to love, even when I had it in my life for decades as a favorite. Eventually I didn't ever stop to taste the things I used to eat. I would simply, and without even making an effort, just keep walking. My old ways don't even appeal to me anymore. About the biggest reaction something gets from me these days that I used to love is 'I can see why people like that but to me it looks like dying ten years too soon'.
Once you get over that hump the old ways just won't appeal to you any more. Ok, I have weaknesses but the things that get me there are some ok vegan subs for. But even then they don't pull me in that often since I am mostly a whole plant food eater now.
Dr Barnard is my hero. Changed my diet forever.
Dr. Bernard is a great Crusader for the health of the common people. Onward Physicians Committe!.
Thank you for all your hard work Dr Barnard.
So useful and heartwarming, the only thing that I regret is that I didn't start my vegan journey as early as possible!
Same here
same here…
In my 60s - it's never too late, but yes, I wish I'd started earlier too.
Same
Me too
Friday night in my house has always been pizza night. I used to eat a standard pizza but now it’s pizza dough, smeared with cashew cream, and covered in a few of these: chickpeas, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, nuts and pumpkin seeds. And I love it!
This speech is brilliant. He didn’t mention MS but I understand there are studies that say that diet has a huge amount to do with how your MS advances. I have MS and I haven’t eaten meat or dairy for about seven years. I recently gave up fish. My walking isn’t brilliant but it’s a lot better than many people.
I am trying to find out about vegan diet and MS - I've been vegan for 3 yrs, veggie for 12 before that, but was recently diagnosed with MS. The research I'm finding on UA-cam seems to be leaning towards including meat - Terry Wahls' Paleo diet - it's very compelling... but I really don't want to eat meat! I also don't want MS.
Any thoughts??
@@born_a_bodymindI personally know two ppl that have reverse severe MS with strict carnivore diet . One of them actually regrew the myelin on his nerves and fixed his brain mood disorder and gut issues . I’m a strict carnivore. It took me from bed ridden to getting my life and mind back .
@@Christinesobsevations Interesting... what diet were they both, and you, eating previously? A standard Western diet? My understanding is that a carnivore diet is such a dramatic change, and so lacking in fibre, that the body has a massive break and can rest and heal in the short term (I guess ancestrally, humans would have eaten nearly completely meat for the winter season once a year), so I can see why it benefits. But I need to weigh that up with my personal ethics about whether we have the right to eat animals anymore - as we did when we and they were wild. I'm really glad for you and your friends that the symptoms have been reversed, that's great.
Do at least 16 hr fastning in a day to cure ms. Stop non-veg dairy product and wheat flour oil complitly.
Eat fruits 700-800 gram a day. Eat green salad vegetable 400 gram atleast a day. Add herbs exercise yoga and gras walk in barefoot everyday.
Follow this complitly 3-9 month ms will be reversed for sure god bless all of us❤👍
@juliewake4585,
Check out Dr Wahl's Protocol! She reversed her MS and went back to working and playing again after being in a wheelchair♿️!!!
Thank God for amazing people like Neal Barnard. Such an amazing man. I am so blessed to be alive at this time.
Dr Barnard is always great tonight he was on 🔥 with his jokes too🤣🤣
What a fantastic talk Dr. Bernard! Thank you for clarification! You deserved a noble price with this presentation! :🥰🥰🥰
I just found this video. Thank you! It's been so hard for me having turned 60 & now everyone says "don't eat this" & "that is bad..." All of my grandparents & parents passed away from heart disease. I wish I had gone vegan years ago. But I am starting now. Thank you Dr. Barnard!
Welcome to the healthy and ethical club ;) it’s never too late to go vegan. Good luck with it!!
5 years for me. I'm 63. just got back from morning bike ride 36 miles today. Under 2 hours.Just a normal morning for a 63 year old? Try this on bacon and eggs
Natkas thuz eu ♥️
when he said that "Americans eat a million chickens per hour" and everyone laughed. To me that was nothing to laugh at.
25:33 26:13 26:14
Me either. Poor animals 😢
They laugh not cos it's funny but cos it's shocking and unbelievable and the mind can't handle it
Chicken is so horrible 😢 I don’t ever want to eat animals 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 prayers for all animals
😊😊😊😊😊😊
I'm glad Dr Barnard is sharing this research. Thank you Doctor
I was looking into a Ketogenic diet but it just didn't feel right because of all of the meat and the restrictions on grains, legumes and fruits. I love these foods and to not have any sounded awful. I'm glad I found this lecture.
The Geico headquarters in D.C. (just on the Maryland line) was about 1/2 mile from the house that I grew up in. I remember the headquarters being built.
@@happydays1336 a ketogenic doesn’t need to have a lot of meat, but obviously restricts grains and fruit.
I have heard of vegan keto diets. Somebody mentioned how such a diet helped them treat their cancer.
@@chiyerano Thanks bunches! I'll have to research this.
Why Keto?
I love this guys presentations. Dr. Neal is 3 years older than me but looks 10 years younger.
Hello from Trinidad , the richest island of the Caribbean, in oil natural gas cancer diabetes hypertension and obesity. We are the proud location of the worlds most lucrative KFC outlet for the past twenty years. Amazing presentation. Life changing. Can I please get a captioned version for my hearing impaired brother ? Thank you so much
Wonderful talk, Dr. Barnard.
In one week I changed from high BP to normal BP. I did this by going plant based. It was a choice, either BP meds or change my way of eating. Now I like eating fresh fruit and veggies, rice and beans. It will work for you if eat Whole Foods. No calorie counting either. Simple.
Congratulations
Excellent lecture !
Thank you so much Dr. Bernard.
Thank you sir you saved my life....unjust doctors don't know
Very powerful! Love to hear him speak 🤓🥦🍇🫐🥕
He’s such a wonderful speaker. Love his talks ❤
OMG !! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE ? HOW AM I JUST NOW FINDING YOU ?? THANK YOU FOR EXPLAINING THE OBVIOUS AND HOPEFULLY MORE PEOPLE WILL LEARN FROM YOUR TEACHINGS. THANK YOU FOR MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN THIS MAD WORLD WE LIVE IN 🥰
Great post. Thanks so much for sharing
Thank you for watching!
It took me decades (we live in Europe) to find a healthy durable way to nourish myself!
And I was one of these food nerds that went full on in so many trends , some that are also taught in the US (lots in the raw trends) till we found WFPB!
Man it took to study all the doctors that now heal/teach lifestyle and it TRANSFORMED our lives !! ❤!!
Thank you 😊 for being out there Neal Barnard! And all ❤the other great 😊 ones !!!
I love Dr Barnard!!!!
Dr. Neal Bernard makes this subject very easy to understand!
Thank you! I love this.
Comment for an algorithm boost, hopefully.
Yes, only reason why I comment and have argued with trolls even, for the algorithm boost.
Much appreciated!
I think I remember seeing this lecture before. Thanks for the upload.
Powerful information!!!
Thank you ❤ everybody should see this
I met Dr neal Barnard in Auckland great guy great advice changing lives
Brilliant Dr Barnard..the best doctor in the world..first class educator on nutrition..thank you so much for sharing your insights and knowledge..it’s helping me lead a very healthy plant based life ✅✅
@43:10 This happened to me, exactly 😂 Tell me it's forever and my fear of commitment kicks in hard. Tell me it's temporary and even pain isn't that big of a deal. After the trial period was over, I forgot all about eating meat. I was scared...what if something bad happens? I asked my doctor if it was safe for me to keep eating just plants. He politely said yes without making feel silly for asking. A decade later and I still really love it. I wish I could pass it out like a flyer, but you just don't know until you try. Blood work every so many years (so I feel confident I am feeding myself well) and I couldn't be happier with any other diet and/or lifestyle.
This talk is so important. I still meat people who think that carbs are the problem and that diabetes is a slow death sentence. Keep up the good fight, doc :)
Refined carbs, processed foods & SUGARS ARE THE PROBLEM! Which is why Diabetes and Metabolic Syndrome are epidemics of DEATH!
Thank you Doctor everyone is past away in my family. I was the sickest as a kid but I took care of my self at 57 I turned vegan 100% and I love it.
I was always falling in love with ideas first. For example, I thought how cool it were to be as cool as those hippies I saw on a VHS back then as a child. Got vegetarian the next day. (Vegan since 20 years). It‘s so much easier than so many other things, like learning a new language. Becoming vegan, all you need is a decision. You can do it right away.
thanks.
My mother was diabetic, 1 infected kidney removed. 2nd kidney infected because of poor diets, no exercise, too much stress caused by her 7 children!!! and a negative mentality (I'm gonna eat whatever i want anyway I'm gonna die). She regretted that statement during her visits to the dialysis facility plugged to a dialysis machine to have her blood cleansed which also caused her depression because of her medical condition. Lots of visits to the ER. She finally got a kidney transplant but took lots of medication that were prescribed. She lasted only a couple of years then had a stroke because of family problems (2 children who caused her stress and grief because of THEIR poor life choices). THAT SCARED THE BURGER 🍔 OUT OF ME!...i became an Adventist and I chose to educate myself on how to live a healthy lifestyle which they taught! 1 have only 1 adult son who i love dearly and i want to live long and healthy to see him have a family and be able to do things with the family. For those of you who believe in God, what was the first diet before sin came in? Animal/flesh slaughtered was allowed after sin entered this world! SAD!!! People, educate yourselves and put it into practice! 👍
Hey, your story is quite sad but I wanna tell you that If you repent from your sins and surrender your all to Jesus Christ and allow him to be your lord and personal saviour. You will experience his amazing grace in your life which you can neither explain nor understand.
Believe in Him, ask him to live through you and your doubts and anxiety will be solved.
I pray the Lord Jesus will have mercy on you.🙏🏾
Thanks!
Dr. B. saved my life!!!
He is amazing! Great video!
Love getting to learn from Dr. Barnard
Excellent video!!
Absolutely fantastic. He is fun, he is very clear and always showing the science and data behind it. Perfect!
Yes - we believe his approach is a great way to actually engage people :)
I had already listened to Dr. Bernard quite a bit, but this was a great refresher! Have been “whole food plant based” for 4 yrs now (lost 20 lbs., high cholesterol now normal, as well as blood sugar, on no meds.). Thank you Dr. B!
Vegan diet wiped out my friends diabetes & my arthritis.
Nice
❤️So Easily Explained Thank You So Much❤️
The eye did not evolve but was created…we are wonderful made as my soul is very well aware
Bravo!!!!!!
Excellent presentation. Like the intermix of research and personal action. Thank you. Veganism is the healthier and more ethical way to go.
Great, Great lecture. Really enjoyed it. And I learned a great deal. Thank you.
❤ thank you sir,for your great vedio, God bless 🙌
Thank you for these studies. Fantastic research, I really appreciate it. I'm trying to make the changes gradually.
The truth hurts so much.
Good for you - make sure to take it at the pace that allows you to be successful. All the best. Do check out the Plant Based News website for some amazing recipes and guides :)
Been vegan for 4 months after buying Reverse Diabetes dropped my A1c to 6.7 from 8.0
Type one diabetic and can’t lose weight to save my soul but eating this way for a few weeks did lower my blood pressure at least and I do feel better ❤️
Have you heard of mastering diabetes? Robby and Cyrus are both Type 1 and run the program.
Insightful stuff ✔️❤️
Thank you for this very important information.
You have a good Heart. A lot of Love....
You're a real American!
43:04 I drank so much dairy milk as a child, then in tea and coffee I'm suprised I don't moo.
Now it tastes sour.
And I'm not depressed.
Me too & I loved milk. Don't drink it anymore though & don't miss it.
Could you please put greek captions on it so i can show ity family? You would help me a lot ! Thank you in advance
This is such great info to hear!! I am determined to now have a plantbased lifestyle. Thank you! ❤
Glad to hear you found it useful :)
This is such a good lecture eyes opening I am vegetarian need lots of recipes for vegan and vegetarian
I wish I could eat vegan and stay healthy. I don’t like eating animals but unfortunately the only diet that help me is ketogenic diet. I love vegetables and that’s a big part of my diet. I do eat Eggs and meat. Never felt healthier before.
My PCP was surprised how good my labs are. My BP, HbA1C, CRP, Thyroid and lipid panel are all good.
I appreciate vegan doctors advocating veganism to keep balance.
29:53 I’ve been strictly avoiding, no exceptions, all foods and drinks with added ingredients like “ferrous…”, “iron”, “____ oxide” (iron oxide, aka rust) “natural flavors”, “vegan natural flavors”, & “added vitamins and minerals” of any kind, and other crap (the list is large).. for a few years (practicing a vegan diet) A deep intuitive repulsive distaste arose in my Being for products with these labels, which is great because I’m learning to make things from scratch that I liked but will no longer consume do to the added crap. I’m getting to experiment, to include making my own soaps with out the added toxins environmental pollutants etc. Loving it. I’ve also started intermittent fasting a few months ago after learning about Autophagy to see what comes of it. Anyhow thanks for the upload. I think this is the first video that I’ve heard mention a concern that I had about eating iron. 🌻
❤ I learned some things good
I love it when he brings up the movie (“Fargo”) such a great sense of humour 😂😂
can anyone summarize the highlights please?
It is not the rice in Japan that makes them healthy, but the fish, raw fish, and things like probiotic made veggies and fruits they call pickles, and things like mushrooms. The problem with the meat now in america is that if is CAFO rather than pasture raised. The fat on that kind of animals is mostly Omega 6 rather than Omega 3. Our ancestral diet was mainly meat, except when they were not successful in the hunt.
Mummies found in the North Pole, South America and Egypt all showed signs of heart disease and early markers for stroke.
Knowledge
Thanks 🙏👍 for your comments 😃😽❤😂😂🎉🎉😢😮😅😅😊
Great video, but isn't this speech/presentation somewhat old...maybe given several years ago, since the references/studies are not current.
My small country in North Atlantic sea get as old as Japan but we eat lamb and fish every day
Saturated Fat doesn't clog arteries.
The hypothesis has long been but its based on improper research.
Infact updated research has been comming out recently on real causation of artery clog.
Saturated fat is indeed necessary for immunity and brain development.
Vegan is a healthy diet too but thinking that animal food is unhealthy will be unwise. Deepen your research on saturated fat
If you don’t like a lot of veggies how do you do a plant based diet?
Beans, grains, fruit…..👍
My husband doesn’t like vegetables, he makes smoothies and doesn’t even taste them. He uses chocolate vegan protein powder, adds spinach, kale, berries etc. Maybe that would work for you.
I'm not crazy about vegetables, but I eat them anyway. If you wait to eat until you're really hungry you will eat vegetables. Fasted 2 days. Couldn't avoid food any longer. Woke up craving kale!
Thank you for not getting political like Ornish. I dropped him like a hot sausage. You were getting close there for a moment. I send this link to a lot of people who I believe want the information and need it. Thank you. 🙏❤️
I have to disagree on cheese. Fermented dairy has shown to be inversly associated with cardiovascular disease. You just need to avoid milk and butter. Otherwise I fully agree that eating less meat is very important to ger healthy. Legumes are very delicious. I love lentil bolognese sauce. I lost nearly all my visceral fat on this flexitarian diet.
Problem with cheese is it concentrates the estrogen in dairy to levels so high doctors are suing the FDA to put a hormonal cancer warning label on it.
@@lakehuron7733Do they base that on a study? I‘d like to look at the numbers then.
It can‘t be worse then a contraceptive🤔
Watch the beans in the bean burritos.
A lot of refried beans contain lard!
So true! I don't eat them from Taco Bell anymore, but I've eaten probably a 100 in my life.
Please give the date the lecture was given.

If you came from a cattle farming family you know that they feed cattle grain to fatten them up before market!!!

Dr Neal Barnard single?! 😂😍
😆
I had to have cancer at 16 yo before asking myself that nutrition may have an impact on the body . I was fit but definitly not in a good health
To jetd.sorry for your sad life.I pray things are going well for you.❤❤❤
Why do you not incorporate intermittent fasting as part of your WFPB way of life. Can you give us your views on this way to a healthier lifestyle?
do you recommend people test their blood sugar after eating vegan meal to see if their blood sugar goes up or down? you do know that the starch in pasta, rice, flour pancake turn to sugar once eaten. does that matter or not?
Only eat whole grain if you want to eat those things… those complex carbs don’t let your blood sugar spike as the simple carbs do. For pasta I do recommend to go for lentil or chickpea pasta.
Dr Bernard, I have a question for you. Do type 2 diabetics end up with type 1 if they live long enough? What do you think?
May I ask if intermittent fasting works with this at all?
