Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world.

My Grandfather absolutely loved Led Zeppelin. Whenever me or my siblings were in the car with him and this song came on, he always told us that this was the greatest song of all time. He passed away 7 December 2021. Now every time I hear this song or any Zeppelin song, I'm convinced that he put it on for me. Rest easy, Grandpa. I'll keep getting the Led out for you.
I'm sorry your Grandpa had to go. It's so odd for me to know exactly what I was doing the day he died, but December 7th is my brother's birthday, and at one point in the morning that day I was sitting out back on the patio sending him a long, brotherly text. And I remember thinking that I never forget his birthday partly because it's also Pearl Harbor Day.
Now I will never forget that it's the day that Mitchell's Grandpa passed on. Kind thoughts to you, friend. Grandpa has climbed the stairway, huh?
As a grandpa myself, I can assure you too that he loved you and the others in a way that was multiplied even from how he loved his own children. Kids are great, but grandchildren are great+++ because as we (that's you too) get older and closer to the "stairway", we reflect more and more on the only way we can live on here on Earth...through you.
Peace.

The great thing about long rock songs is, usually, it's not 8 long minutes of hard rock. It's a journey, a slow path up to the top, a song that takes the time not because it wants more rock, but because it NEEDS the time to have the proper buildup. Songs like this take their time because the crescendo wouldn't be the same without the slow, building melody that creates it.
In other words, you'll always need to build that stairway if you want to truly make it to heaven.
This comment needs to be seen by way more people. It's accurate, insightful, and applies perfectly to this song and songs just like it.

I’m a nurse who used to take care of ICU patients. This song reminds me of a patient I had. When we removed his life support, his family requested we listen to rock music because it was his favorite. He finally passed to this song. I’ll never forget them.
My dad assed from cancer almost 3 yrs ago. As I would take of him this song came on the radio. He told me when he passed when I hear the song it’s him saying hi. I cry all the time. I miss him dearly. Wish heaven had a phone. 😢
@@laurenlamboy8886 dear gentleman, it took me an unholy amount of maturity to not laugh, but i do believe you typed passed as "assed"
As a way to go you can't really ask for better
"To be a rock, and not to roll..."

I'm gonna leave this hear to listen to this song again and again while checking this comment.
I'm 77 and I still love whole lotta love
The fact that there’s a stairway to heaven and a highway to hell should tell you who’s expecting more traffic.
Sad but too true!
Scary isn't it? Whoever created us has the power to send all to hell just cause.
@@yPokeKiller08 that's a choice we all have to make, you want grace or condemnation. He doesn’t condemn us, we condemn ourselves.
@@Samuelovesthelord Not familiar with your faith but I grew up muslim and it's taught that God is all knowing. God knew that Satan would betray him and most of humanity would end up in hell. Yet he decides to create Satan and humanity anyways.
Now I'm not using this as a proof that religion is fake. Obviously the Abrahamic God can very well be real and our existence is merely for God's entertainment. And when you actually think about it, you realize that nothing is really there that prevents God from being a liar and an unjust punisher. That's the scary part.
Some may be better drivers?
65 years old. This song still touches my very being. A classic.
73 yrs old. Ditto

Forever young brother.

My gf loves this because it was a song for her father and her before he died
As profound today as it was back then. So thankful I was a teen in the 70s❤
No matter how many years pass, this song will stay in our hearts forever!💖
Led Zep toured our country (NZ) WAY BACK in time (70s). My greatest regret is that I didn't know about them then, and so missed the concert. IMO they are the greatest EVER!!
Time is going too fast.
Forever
listen to it backwards and maybe your opinion will change.
I played this song for a few friends. None of them liked it. Clearly I need new friends
Dill I've seen your videos, they are great. (You have a good taste in music).
Dill, I think you're right! 😄
rip
its time to change those friends mate
maybe they have corona because they have no taste
The most radio played song that was never released as a single!🎉
If this doesn’t play at my funeral, I’m not dying.
Same here!!! I have it in my in my last will and testament
Bravo sir! I wish you a long life.

The best grace is that God purchased our freedom with the blood of His Son and forgave all our sins. This immeasurable gift was given to you when you believed. You didn’t work for it and you didn’t even deserve it. If He stopped there it would have been enough, but He continues to give us even more grace, kindness, wisdom, and understanding. What an awesome God! For He so loved the world that He gave His only Son.
“Be still (cease striving) and know (recognize, understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth” (Psalm 46:10).
Grace gives me the freedom to forget about other people’s opinions. I can learn to be the person that God created me to be before the lies of this world attached themselves to me. I don’t need to impress other people. I just need to be faithful to the One who created me, and He already loves me, so I have nothing to prove.
I am free to be me. I am fearfully and wonderfully made with a purposeful design. Getting to know God through His Word helps me to know my purpose in life. And when I know it, I can go ahead and live it. If the Son sets me free, I am truly free (John 8:36).

Incredible song by the incredible Zeppelin! Need I say anymore
I will never ever forget the moment I heard this mysteriously beautiful song… I was 14 years old… it literally stopped me in my tracks and even at this tender age I somehow “knew” that it was “laden” with my future… I’m 58 now… and it was hauntingly true… but my understanding of this wondrously cryptic masterpiece of a song and it’s message is very different now ❤
Hello; how are you doing ? It’s nice meeting you here. Thanks for your love and support❤️🤘🏻You have yourself a wonderful day ahead🌺🌺🤘🏻
This literally my 1st time hearing this masterpiece.

@@Pigbait420 honestly even im a classic rock fan but i have only heard this song for the first time a couple months ago, and its weird ik but i was never into ledzep, so probably the other guy has the similar reason
Lucky you. The good news is radio doesn't play it endlessly now, so there's very little chance you'll get burned out on it like I did. I came to listen to the solo because of Rick Beato and his alternate players "what if" video.
I was just thinking about this, how many people haven't heard this song, I'm sure it will live forever since people who listen to it for the first time love it too
@@Bagledog5000 there's a reason why this is the forbidden riff 😂

Greatest fooking guitar solo of all time.
You know it's a good song when 8 minutes doesn't feel like enough
Best comment ever!!! I couldn't agree more!!!
Den Taylor - ABSOLUTELY!! I just play it over and over ... and over ... and ...
🤩 🥰 😇
@MK It's one of the best songs ever written
That's when you should listen to the live version with an extended riff part. Sooo good!
As if this song is 50 years old '71-2021 its aged absolutely beautifully and to me it still feels like its ahead of its time even today. People have been inspired by its composition and it will be celebrated by future generations for another 50 years and more 🤘

Play this song reversed and it shows you the satanism of freemasons
Too bad they chose to create a generic video for the song. I would have loved to see more clips of the band members when they were younger around the time this song was being created. Yea, I know they like to sell that type of stuff to fans, but this is an official video for one of their premier songs for godsakes. It should have top tier video footage to go along with the song.
This is art.
i'm a 18 year old black male and i've listen to r&! and rap all my life and this is the first time i've ever listened to this song and i'm realizing i missed out on a whole fricking genre of music
