About me:
My name is Anthony Chisnall. I'm a musician & songwriter.
My channel is these things:
1. A place to share my songs - via various 'Back on Track' video series - in which you'll see each song idea evolve step-by-step, with me (hopefully!) improving my song-writing skills as we go.
2. An outlet for me to discuss all things musical - including technical break-downs of software and tools that I use, as well as more wide-ranging discussions of topics that interest me.
I play the guitar (electric, acoustic, and bass), and record all of my own synth-based sounds myself too, but I can't sing very well (huge understatement!), and so my wife, Pauline, who has a lovely singing voice, has come to my rescue. You'll hear her on all of my songs.
All of my music is written in Steinberg's Cubase.
I try very hard to make my videos PRACTICAL and no-nonsense - if I don't use a feature, I'm not going to waste your time trying to sound like an expert on it! This is the stuff I use day-to-day, so I think that's also what you'd like to hear me talking about.

Clear and concise. Will certainly look back over your previous videos. Thank you.
Thanks for the feedback, it's much appreciated :)
Thanks very much for this clear and thorough explanation of offline processing, something I didn't find elsewhere.
You are welcome, thanks for the feedback!
Very good. Showing the contents of the pool and the edit folder was an excellent idea. Shows that a person should be cognizant of what is going on behind the scenes or hard drive storage could get out of hand.
Thank you for the kind feedback, I appreciate it :)
Excellent video, Anthony - once again I know more about something into which I'd only previously 'dipped my toes' 🙂 thank you so much
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the feedback!
Very helpful. Question about offline work on a range: Is there a way to later identify what was done in offline processing to a range in an event? And can you return easily to the same range to make changes? I do see the indicator that the target was a range, but don't see how to return to precisely that same range for additional work. Thanks to anyone who can help me understand this.
I'm not aware of any way to do this, and I agree that it would be very helpful to be able to do that. I think it's because when you execute a DOP process, you create a physical audio file (in the 'Edits' folder of your project) that represents that single process. I guess Steinberg figure that if you want to add extra processing to the range you'll just select it again, but it would be great if you could double click the little range image in the DOP window and have Cubase select that section of the event again.
@@OneManAndHisSongs Thank you for your reply. So I guess I'll give up on that, but to follow-up: Am I correct that the only way to adjust EQ on a small section of an audio track is to either cut the section into a separate event, or to use automation on the track? Any other way to do this, other than those and offline processing? I should add that I was pretty good with Cubase 15 years ago, and am now relearning everything after those years (Cubase 13 Pro). Thanks again for your great videos, calm demeanor, and excellent instruction.
Sorry for the delay - yes. In fact that's pretty much what defines an event - the boundaries or constraints to the editing process of a larger underlying section of audio.
@@OneManAndHisSongs Understood, thanks. As a solo guitarist, I have found a wealth of personally relevant information from you here. Thanks for taking the trouble to create these helpful videos. I really appreciate it, as others clearly do, too.
