I really like that you mention the time spent on the experiment, since we can't actually tell how long it really is, we just suppouse it didn't took long, but oh boy it toke a while.
Completely new artist here, like until a couple weeks ago hadn't touched art supplies since middle school, and this video really helps drive home the importance of doing line work first. I've seen lots of other videos, basically all of them, start with line work and for some reason I have basically ignored it. Thank you for this tutorial!
Looks awesome! Great work as usual Olof 🙌 Nailed the timing too- usually an often missed and underrated element. Coming from the animated fight and the zombies hanging on the bus shorts (don't remember the actual video names) where the timing was tad too short to register what's happening- it's great you went for the extra beat longer so the action registers.
THANK YOU! I was looking for a tutorial of animated explosion cause I need it for my diploma but I couldn't find it ANYWHERE. So I tried it myself and it turned out to be disgusting. Now I will try to redo it according to your steps. Thanks again :)

Hello thanks for your video. I have a question. How do you change the framerate for many image. For example you have 10 picture with 1 framerate and you select pictures togehter and change the framerate. When i select my different picture and try to change the framerate only one image (the last) can be modified. Do you have an answer? Thanks !
i did'not understand the process you use to fill inside the color, you did a circle with the color brush then it's like automatically select the inside , , then it fill it with the same color, how did you do that ? i did a lot of research and did not find how
I'm not a very good nor experienced animator, but I fucking love skribbling and watching explosions, but I have to say that your animation is waaaay to soft for an explosion. It doesn't carry the sheer power and speed of an explosion. I'm not saying it looks ugly, it is very nicely animated, but it is too slow in the first few frames. Explosions are super fast and the actually destructive part only should last for maximally 10 frames. I absolutely love the way your explosion looks, and I envy you for being able to draw them so nicely, but as I said it doesn't really carry much of an impact
depends on the programs, but generally, if it's good for gaming, it's works for animation...just add some extra RAM. (especially for after effects) and try to avoid ones with old style physical hard-drives as main boot drive....
oooh people .. it is a lot of work to draw each frame individually .. it has to be fun, otherwise you couldn't do that .. time, fun and patience is the good mix you need here .
@@OlofStorm thank you for replying. Could you make a video telling about how you created those actions to make it easy to animate in photoshop. It would really help everyone.

It woyuld be really usefull if you could add how much time this takes to make to know how good or bad (not in a negative way) im doing as opposed to you
I did mentioned it in the video. But I wouldn't rate someone's animation based on how quick they can make it. If things take time then thats fine too :).
Ways to do this..... (Photoshop) 1. remove/delete the default background layer (it will be locked, so just click on the lock to make it editable) 2. then File -> Export -> Render Video. 3. FOR A VIDEO -> Make sure the format is set to Quicktime in those settings (the Dropdown above that should be set to Adobe Media Encoder). This should export a .mov with an "alpha" / Transparency channel. OR 3. FOR Frame By Frame Images -> Change the first dropdown menu from Media Encoder to Photoshop Image Encoder. Then change the format from JPEG to PNG. 4. When your done, click render. Hope that helps someone :-) (AE is a bit more complicated for that...)
How did you set up photoshop in this way, is that a particular layer type so that you can make the frame-by-frame drawings? Nevermind..found it: ua-cam.com/video/rrIqr5y8D0A/v-deo.html
I've got an idea what you can do with that explosion I think we should do if you could like you know when you seeing them movies when the person is running to the camera and explosion explodes I think you could do something like that so you could like you could have the guy running from the horizon line all the way to the camera and obviously like we see his feet and then we see the explosion afterwards
I love the vibrancy coming from the orange sections as well as the shading style for the smoke.
every animator: ........and then i'll just have a quick explosion effect
spongebob card: 6 hours laterrrrrr
Animations are extremely time consuming
So worth it tbh
