- In this video I animate a quick action shot. I got inspired by @briandemonwolf on instagram and used some of his movements as reference for the jump kick.
Hope you enjoy the episode!

"It's easier to get a quick snack than to bake the cake." - Olof Storm 2019
FYI - when filling in a colour, instead of doing it by hand, you can use the magic wand tool to select the desired fill area (as long as there are no gaps in the outline). And if you're using a rough brush which gives an uneven edge to the line, after selecting with the magic wand, simply "expand selection" by a couple of pixels and then fill it in 2 or 3 times (this expands the fill a bit beyond the first click, but it stays within the wand selection). You may need to clean the edge where the fill meets the line a little bit, but it will save you a ton of time by not having to colour by hand every section.
@@rawls101 hey, yeah I did just that for later parts of the process. I realised quickly that it was gonna be a pain :). When filling in the liquid dude I made an action that did that. Cheers!

"Pushing that feeling away and accepting that some things actually do take time" Hardest thing to deal with when looking for results. When a 24-minute cartoon chapter takes about a month to be completed even when it's done by a whole team of specialists.
"i'm quite interested about how we sometimes think certain tasks seem way too time consuming, when at the same time we gladly just sit down and do absolutely nothing". Best bit of knowledge or advise on the video. I often tell myself the same thing.
But it's all about energy consuming and the brain trying to avoid getting tired, sitting down and do nothing is everything our brain wants.
The liquid head is such an out of the box idea I love it.

I chocked when i read this comment lol😂
Right, he said it so sweet and sincere 🤣 love it
That was absolutely outstanding! I hope to get this comfortable with animating fight scenes soon. Thnx for creating this video/animation
I'm diggin' your style, brother.
It has a classic look with a modern edge.
Very cool work here.

Sometimes I tend to get down and work on this 2 minute 2D animation clip I've always tried to work on and every time I feel already exhausted even before I begin....the fact that you make this looks so simple and attractive to do has now made me to push the ego aside and work on this film...Pray for me Olof😭😭
Glad i found this at almost 1 in the morning, really breaks down the process and shows how much effort is required to get animation done
only 5 seconds in the video & it was already satisfying. That sound effect was such a cherry on top of that fluid animation.
So helpful to see it broken down like this. Many decisions are put into making this quick and snappy animation.
Im saving this for inspiration, I love the style and everything
The time, patience and dedication any artist must have. That 1 second clip, took hours to produce. Before the background, the music, the speech and rendering.
Bravo Sir.
I like how it’s an animation tutorial, and a therapy session
WOW! very cool stuff here! I love your style so much! Keep going and good luck!
This was the very first animation that inspired me to become an animator and i just happened to bump into this video again🙂
That's a very good advice on time. I always feel down when I take too long to finish an animation. But when I'm not working, I can take a whole day on reading, playing, using my phone or just lazing around. I feel more excited to work now. Thank you very much for this.
this was honestly the most informative video for me yet. It is so awesome to see that whole process. thank you for sharing
Not only animation lessons, but also life lessons. Thanks a lot!
This is so sick! I'm so happy I found your channel
your tutorials are amazing I've learned so much from you ❤❤❤
Really good flow and feel of power, thanks for showing.
RESPECT! Not only for the amazing animation itself but also for putting this video together with such an great explanation of your process. I absolutely love the flow in your videos. I always struggle to explain exactly how I create my art in my videos, since most of the techniques I use become like a second nature in time and I don't even notice. Thank you for sharing your wisdom :D
"I'm quite interested about how we sometimes think certain tasks seem way too time consuming, when at the same time we gladly just sit down and do absolutely nothing"
I opened photoshop and adobe animate right after I heard you say this, damn right in the feels. We're such lazy and boring creatures.
It's way more complex than we just being lazy
Escaping reality, and numbing the mind to forget about the stresses in our life and the state of the world is not entirely a bad thing. But it's only a bandaid.
Everything that you say in this video are exactly the things that I needed to hear right now. Thanks a miliion!
this was lovely to watch and listen to, and really great thoughts and tips along the way, with an amazing result
That's amazing , truly appreciated
That's how it works , new for me
Absolutely love this

wow, what a twofer.

Amazing work, as usual!
Discovered your page a few months back when I was in a dark place (with beinga creative) and I can't say how grateful I am for your work and tutorials. From Kenya with love. This one is amazing.

Nice results, which is what counts cause animation is extremely challenging on many levels. :) You have your workflow - tool usage refined and tweaked quiet well.
THE BEST UA-camR ♥
Never thougth one would use Photoshop for this. Now with aweseom looking Grease Penicl in blender.
i actually started using photoshop to for animating, because of the ease of drawing and sketching.
@@befrey Yeah more tools and brushes and so. I dont do sketches or anything related, so ican really give good feedback. I just saw amazing stuff made with the tool and because the 2d can also be transform to 3d or used in 3d makes it quite handy.
PS nice tips, i was figuring out how you made it possible to draw on each frame. hahaha very nice. I do understand if Photoshop feels so at home one does not easily switch programs.
@@RomboutVersluijs Photoshop supports a bit in animation , but drawing in Adobe flash or animation is a pain..
@@befrey hahah yeah i remember flash painting tools. I used it to make website and banners and such. I was always baffled how people could handle its WICKEd drawing tools. So weird when your used to illustrator or so.
That is not only awesome, but it is inspiring indeed!!! I wouldn't even thinking of drawing smth like this cause I thought it would take me a week to make it, but you said it was several hours! WOW!! Thank you and all the best to you man!!!
Dude, Olof Storm, you have changed my life. Thanks and cheers!

"It's always easier to get the quick snack then to bake the cake."
I compare cartoons as a cake in someway as well.
We all like it and enjoy consuming it...
some would like to make one as well...
but very few put there time and effort in learning in how to make one.
And once it finish it will be enjoyed by many...
hopefully.
I really love to believe on purpose. I found you explaining the things that I had in my mind and in the same time you are giving me such much power of believing. I know you have more experience, but the key for experience is the rule of double P : practice and patience.

You are a man with a very particular set of skills , this animation is amazing. I love seeing you modeling houses in 3D especially , if you don't mind please do more of those and a tutorial on making nodes for 3D textures would be very much appreciated , You've inspired me to delve into 3D and given me more motivation for animation

Him : photoshop , premiere , after effects , C4D and makes a good quality animation
Me : PS , premiere , AF , C4D , blender , Media encoder , illustrator, FL studio 20 and cannot even make a stick man
Moral : Use MS Paint
Lol why even use paint you could just make a flip book
Same dude! I'm trying to learn, our school provided us with a bundle of Adobe but we only use animate cc butttt I'm trying to learn as much as I can out of all
Are you using it for fun?
