Most of them can't climb glass, and so they can be kept quite safely. I have owned Androctonus, Centruroides and Leiurus species, without any concerns. In the UK you have to own a Dangerous Animals licence to own these scorpions.
Had one of my male p regalis escape once and he was camped out in my bedroom for two days before he decided to make himself seen to be brought back to his tank. Pretty intense two days haha!
@@DisparityOfBeliefAndTruth I lost a P. regalis one evening while I was feeding and watering my, at the time, very large collection. I had sprayed the regalis viv and then couldn't see the spider. Carried on with the others and then it occurred to me that she might have come out of viv and actually be on me. I checked in the bathroom mirror, and there she was in the centre of my back, where I couldn't reach her! I had to wait for about 10 minutes, until she walked up to a point where I could scoop her up and return her to the viv!
I used to watch your videos years ago it’s so refreshing seeing the same vibe and effort you truly do enjoy these animals and one day I hope to get my own enclosures
What makes Death Stalkers so interesting, is that their Venom has the most Compounds of any Scorpion. They are called "Death-Stalkers", because they have a Compound that will work for Any Animal on the planet.
Hey petco, because of your videos I got my first T yesterday! I wouldn't have believed it when I started watching you in your apartment.. but here we are 😂 Thanks Petco 😊
i just bought my first spider after years watching this channel! it’s a regal jumping spider, my boyfriend pointed to a baboon 🤣 which i said absolutely not. thanks for making such amazing content! and thanks for helping me feel better about spiders and giving me crazy spider knowledge 💘
3:25 You have replaced light bulb with your hands, when you do that, you leave oil residue on the light bulb and it makes your bulbs burn out faster (or potentially shatter). You want to use some sort of protection when changing bulbs out.
Bro I have videos of my scorpion taking a locust, then charging out for more and taking a second before aggressively chasing my hand out of his enclosure not stoping till the door is closed… holding 1 in his mouth and 1 in his claw then putting both in his mouth and eating two at a time.. I have a awesome scorpion. Afraid he will change now he is currently molting to full adult
17:06, overall, the quinquestriatus is a dark yellow in color, while the haenggii has a dark brown back with yellow edging and a more prominent black mask around the eyes, hope this helps
For the halogen bulbs (really any light bulbs, but especially halogen), it’s best to not handle them with your bare hands and to wear gloves any time you touch them. The reason is because the oils in your hands will contaminate and etch into the glass, causing the bulb to heat unevenly which will make it burn out much faster, and this could be part of why you are having trouble with the bulbs lasting only a short time. Disposable latex or nitrile gloves are recommended for this. I learned this working for an auto mechanic shop when we would have to replace the halogen headlights on vehicles. Hope this helps.
Love when you show the scorpions they are so cool. Tarantulas will always be my number 1 though im actually ordering 3 slings tomorow im super excited for them
As a true scorpio, I have tons of love for those pesky little buggers. When I was a kid, I had a pet Emperor Scorpion named Betty. She was a sweetheart. I miss turning off my bedroom light, turning on my blacklight, throwing on some good music, and just hanging out with her all night. Sometimes we would stay up late together and watch Beavis and Butthead and Mtv2. Her favorite snack was moon crickets. R.I.P. Betty. You are truly missed. 🦗 📺 🦂
I always wanted a Deathstalker for years as it can be found in my home country, and is a very deadly beast. My uncle found this out and ranted at me for a literal hour about how stupid that would be without knowledge of how serious a sting from one is. I admire those that can handle and manage deadly animals, but thank god my uncle talked some sense into a 16 year old me years ago. 😂 Great video! I love your setup and appreciate the look at these brutally beautiful creatures! I hope to have my own some day, admittedly to a less dangerous level.
The ad before the video was from IKEA and the slogan translates (from german) to: "Always a great opportunity", made me laugh in combination with your video title 🤣 I really enjoy watching you handle the animals, always so calm, funny and educative ❤
Nice. I used to keep a few scorpions about 20 years ago. I had an Androctonus Bicolor, always wanted a Death Stalker but never got one. Kinda want to get back into keeping them.
I own a Hadrurus arizonensis myself, and have owned one other in the past, and have had some luck seeing them feed by feeding them at night using a red light. It is my understanding that tarantulas and scorpions can’t see red light
Spider's definitely were a phobia of mine. After watching a ton of your vids, I still might not want to own one but have mostly overcome my fear. Thanks for the consistent, cool content!
I have had 22 of the worlds most venomous scorpions. They are so touchy to keep alive. When they are hungry, fun to watch, but many like to hide all the time, making them quite boring to keep.
from your set up id say you could benefit from adding aluminum plate, tape, or even foil on the ceiling of your drawers to prevent your wood ect.. from heating up too much.
Petko I live in Arizona & in over 30yrs, I have only ever seen our hairys around water. Around pools, homes that have foliage that gets watered, irrigation ditches, ect... In homes I've lived in that were surrounded by pristine desert, I never saw them 🤷
Hey Petko, long-time fan. I am curious about the lights that you use on the underside of your shelves. Are they just LED strips? How bright are they? Thank you for any info.
I don't know why. But I was kind of expecting him not to find the scorpion in the enclosure. I was expecting him to say "That is weird, I wonder where it could be" before turning around to look for the scorpion, with the camera showing that it was on his back the whole time.
Whatever happened to the Camel spider? I thought it was housed near the scorpions but it didn't look like there was anything there that could be it's enclosure
The almost instand death of the roach is realy saying something about it potency, even when i feed my Phoneutria the roaches usaly keep struggling and twitching for some time
You’re lucky with your P schlecteri. It has such nice contrast between the back, tail and legs. Mine looks rather drab. With the back borderline olive and tail practically just yellow.
I remember a terrarium dealer in my town who had an Algerian Sahara scorpion give birth, and the babies got out through the ventilation strip. The guy ended up getting stung, ended up in the hospital for 3 months, lost his licence and had to close his shop. He was kind of an irrepressible douche, honestly. Had several venomous snake mishaps before the scorpion incident. I once assisted him in getting a 4 meter king cobra back in its enclosure. Needless to say, that was a little more adventures than I'd bargained for when I went out to get some feeder crickets. Moral of the story: never get complacent around these animals.
I used to live in the Florida Keys; one night a red scorpion crawled onto my face, and stung me in my eyebrow. It felt like a bee sting, but several hours later I was vomiting, my joints were aching, I had a migraine, and the skin of my face where I got stung was hanging down like I had a bad stroke. The skin actually hung over my eye! I wound up having to go to the hospital where they have me a couple of shots, and some pills. I started feeling better later in the day, and then the next day I felt okay again... Ironically, I'm a Scorpio.
Secret to knowing if a scorpion is dangerous and it to look at the pincers first, the closer the pincers match the size of their arms then look at the tail, then fatter the tail the more deadly. The reason why I say pincers first is due to the fact that large scorpions with big pincers may have seemingly large tails. Also, if the scorpions is hiding you will see the pincers well before seeing the tail.
As a collector I love to see this kind of content! Yesterday I received a sting from the Arizona bark scorpion which is the most venomous in the U.S. but nothing happened too much except some pretty bad pain.
I have kept 50 scorpions and I am very experienced. I cant have any species with hit venom though as I have a young child. When he gets to 16 I'll then get the hot ones, and some old world Tarantulas. Mild venom scorps and new world Ts at the minute.
Its amazing as my mate is in the army and he knew I kept scorps, so sent me a photo of an Arabian fat tail whilst he was in the middle east. The soldiers had not been told (whilst playing with these scorps), that they were deadly. Luckily, I was able to reply and tell him and his mates how lethal those animals were amnd not to go near them, and properly check their boots. They didnt play with them anymore thankfully. But the hireachy would likely not have told the new guys after my mate. I was shocked.
I come across Giant Hairy's every once in awhile. They get pretty huge. But like you said their venom is not bad. The bark scorpions are much more dangerous.
I have 2 asian Forrest scorpions. How often do you change their substrate? And does it get little bugs? My substrate gets little bugs. I use a brick of echo earth.
Dude a fan sponsoring a creator he watches and the creator taking the sponsorship is the coolest thing ive ever seen!
You both are amazing. Good luck on the start up business!
I imagine owning deadly animals and then not finding it in its enclosure is pretty scary
Ive eaten a brazilian yellow scorpion before one time when i was drunk, 2 actually, the first one stung me in my thumb i think, i had a bad night
Most of them can't climb glass, and so they can be kept quite safely. I have owned Androctonus, Centruroides and Leiurus species, without any concerns. In the UK you have to own a Dangerous Animals licence to own these scorpions.

Yeah there’s no question it’s the most dangerous scorpion in the world that we know of
Glad to have one in my house. Funny thing, my wife actually wanted it more than I did.

Congrats on your jumper! I still will only handle jumpers, anything else is a strict nope lol.
Noice, i went went the ts, and also looking for scorpions now. Btw you will soon have more then just 1. haha
No baboon? Come oooon they're nice! They even spread out their little legs to hug you!
@@rebel4466 hell no those things are insane
"there should be a scorpion in here" isn't words you wanna hear when keeping a dangerous species lol.

Petko is a real professional. LOL🤮
I love how you own things that have the venom to kill you. It really shows the love for animals petko. Keep up the good work!
Really interesting to see the Scorpions featured Petko. Your videos are always very informative.

Tityus stigmurus (communal of 2 5i), Tityus Magnimanus, Tityus Crassimanus x3, Tityus smithii, Tityus sp Antilles x2, Pandinus Imperator juvie female, Androctonus Crassicauda (Oman locale), Parabuthus transvaalicus 6i female, jalalychas tricarinatus x2.

My mate had a scorp [that's what scorpion cognoscenti call them] and would taunt it with a Costa Coffee stirrer.
Is it excavator clay you used or a substitute? Nice video on my favorite animals 😍 I have some other Tityus sp. if you are interested 😊
I just ordered 3 deathstalker scorpions from UNDERGROUND REPTILES!!! THEY WILL BE HERE TUESDAY!!!

can i have the link to where you get your scorpion terrariums from? thanks
Hi Petko I wanted to ask if you ship your custom enclosure parts to the USA
Is that light UVA or UVB ? And what effect does it have on desert scorpions?
I've got some ideals for enclosures that people may like when I get finished ill, try and send you one.
I own an adult Androctonus australis male and a sub adult Androctonus gonneti. I love the look of the fat tails!
Can you feed the scorpions in the dark with a black light? If your camera can manage it, of course.
smoke the bulbs it's a venom rush
