    I once got a Centruroides hentzi from an HVAC repair man you caught it after getting stung by it when he was working on an a/c system. Brought it to me in a jar. I look a little terrarium with some pine bark and needles and put it in there. Dropped a couple of baby crickets in there and never saw it for two weeks. Lifted up the pine bark and there she was, with scorplings on her back. Perfect little replicas, but white like these. Had them for a long time.

    That was a very interesting and informative video. I loved seeing the wee babies 😊 and the clip of them being on their mothers back at the start was adorable. Mummy scorpion was keen on escaping her new abode 😂
    That was a decent number of babies she had, I don’t know how many in average that species would have either!

    I'm sorry to ask a question about a completely different species than these fascinating Scorpions and their kind of scary "mouth parts" like 2 small crab hands coming out - which I confess I have never witnessed this part before.
    My question is about the Singapore Blue female tarantula that you carefully removed Phorid fly maggotts from inside and around her mouth. On the 3rd video you said you would leave her alone, hope she molts and later on try to breed her again.
    Any news about her, the big beautiful Singapore Blue? Did she continue to heal? Did she molt yet? I realize it only been a bit over 4 months since you first showed her with the tiny maggots....
    How is she doing?
    And thank you and camera lady for your calmness and grace.
    (I always push the Like Button).

    @syrusxlmedia 10 місяців тому +2

    Hi Dave,
    I admire the way you present your videos; you come across as someone who's genuinely down-to-earth and captivating. Your knowledge about the hobby is impressive. Personally, I focus mainly on breeding isopods, myriapods, and thousands of springtails (they multiply faster than rabbits!). It's almost guaranteed that crickets will end up in nearly every enclosure, despite being only a couple of millimeters long. They often hatch before the main predators have a chance to eat them! I've noticed that springtails breed rapidly in the isopod enclosures.
    But let's get back to the topic I meant to ask about!
    I have two Heterometrus spinifer scorpions, both of which are males. However, one of them is still a scorpling, so it's challenging to determine its sex definitively. Initially, I thought I had purchased a sufficiently large enclosure, but this new scorpion is quite sizable. On the first night, he managed to lift himself up enough to reach the ventilation slots and got stuck. We had to carefully remove the lid with him still attached. Thankfully, he was fine on the second night. However, last night, it seems like he's settling in because although he attempted to escape through the ventilation slots again, he eventually gave up. This morning, I found that he had buried his water bowl in the substrate. So, today we plan to buy a deeper and larger container, which we will make ourselves (definitely not with a "BB Gun"! lol 😆), to prevent him from hanging from the ventilation slots.
    Regarding feeding, my scorpion is approximately 5-6 inches in length. How often should I feed a scorpion of this size? I don't want to overfeed him, but he has consumed 3 or 4 crickets in the past few days. (You know, those "silent" crickets that sound like you're living in a jungle!) Why would anyone call a cricket silent when it's so noisy?

    Hi Dave,
    I actually believe that these particular individuals may be Javanimetrus cyaneus, rather than Heterometrus spinifer. The shape of the chelae, dark telson, and heavy granulation on the carapace and tergites are not consistent with H. spinifer.
    I can't be sure from the video as the adult was moving around quite a bit, but if you can post pictures up somewhere I can confirm the ID for you.

    • @brianscreaturesofthenight2621
      @brianscreaturesofthenight2621 11 місяців тому +1

      @@brianscreaturesofthenight2621 Dave is generally pretty knowledgeable even if he doesn't specialize in scorpions. His previous scorpion video featured true H. spinifer, which looks quite different to this. I think if he does a side by side comparison he'll be able to tell.

      I completely agree. Dave is very knowledgeable and such an amazing help to the community. He just kind of stood high in a soapbox with a few of his statements the kind of rubbed me the wrong way. It came off kind of Wikipedia regurgitated

    Hey Dave , I digress a bit from topic , but your a spider guy , and would be aware that ATRAX ROBUSTUS, is now in competition as to which of 6 species are the most Dangerous , but one is Hadronyche Vestura , and I saw one being handled by a young bloke , who in another vid nearly got it from a Coastal Tiapan, his shirt was un buttoned and the snakes head got caught by the flapping shirt , close , would you handle a Funnelweb, that's a rhetorical Q , as I'd say your not silly enough but I was mortified

    Do some baby scorpions or spiders get released back into the wild for repopulation, so they don’t become extinct? 😊

    Just cuz they require basic, doesn't mean they have to have basic. My girl loves her 5 gallon layer. She has a massive layer, the way she likes. She has few rooms in her tank. Idk man, just cuz they need very little doesn't mean that what you have to give them. She also has nice shallow pool she dip in into as well as live plants. She thinks she is wild scorpion.

    Can you keep more than one older scorpion together or will they attack each other at some point?
