  • In this video, I would like to talk about a cult classic - the Omega Seamaster PloProf. This is a watch used by the likes of Comex and Jacques Cousteau and truly was the pinnacle of dive watches of its time.

    Literally just been looking at restoring a vintage ploprof as my father in law has one that hasn't been touched for decades. How coincidental you have just posted this video. Thanks for confirming it's a must do!

    To me Ploproff is a real classic which will always carry the romance of the 70s and sea exploration and of course Jacques Cousteau which I am also fan of. Now the newer versions I can understand the technology upgrades but if it was for me I'd rather an original one, good episode, keep up the good work.

    Thank you very much Armand for yet another brilliant video. I'm loving this series featuring iconic watches I really am. They're so informative and nostalgia invoking; it's great to hear about famous pieces from the horological past and how we've arrived at what is available today. As for my favourite in terms of finish? Well it has to be what Omega are doing with that gorgeous grey colour,although, like yourself I'm not overly keen on turning what was perhaps the quintessential tool watch into something more showey, with that open case back, just to pander to the vagaries of the fashion industry. But I guess that's the direction the market seems to be moving in and Omega, like any other company, are there to make money . I'll say goodbye for now. Have a great day!

    How does the bracelet get sized with the shark mesh style bracelet? And does it have a dive extension ?

    This actually became an icon in watch homage world. I am thinking on getting some cheaper homage of this particular 1200 m variant :)

    I would happily buy the no-date version IF they were smart enough to make it with the monocoque case and without the HEV. I could live with the non-original crown, but not the other "improvements". :(

    great review , bur remember , very few folk actually buy a dive watch to go diving with , a two hundred pounds dive computer is a far better tool ,
    the only place a water resistance over three hundred meters really matters , is in the pub.

      I always had a watch on even when wearing a dive computer.

      I would also have a watch on as a back-up.

    • @tomthompson7400
      @tomthompson7400 2 роки тому

      @@stefanpersson240 I actually run two computers .. three if you count the back up handset ... but never take a watch diving . I just don't see the point .

      @Andrew CW So you obviously dont dive , at least not on a commercial level , the guy on the consul will tell you everything you need to know , ten years as a sat diver , fifteen as a mixed gas rebreather instructor and the same again as a dive guide and ive never worn a watch anywhere other than the pub. Most people I know take off their dive watches to get in the shower in the morning, so really any dive watch isnt a '' tool'' anymore , no more than a quill and ink is a word processor each belongs to an era where their functionality has been far superseded by far better alternatives. Realistically speaking a watch of any type these days serves mainly one function , watches are simply jewellery for men . So could you enlighten me as to the ''point'' of this watch if Ive missed it and you know what it is ?

      @Andrew CW I'll not be throwing my 6538 in the sea ..and even though my 5167r has a rubber strap I'll not take it diving either ... that only leaves my a Lange to look at ... so yep I clearly know nothing at all ... any tips ?
      Shame you couldn't think of anything better without trying to make it personal and falling back on profanity. I did neither and you seem upset .... why might that be. When a wise man points at the stars ... only a fool looks at his finger.

    I have a serious 🍆 for this watch.
    Will buy the new version 2nd hand once the price drops to the $6000ish level.
