These are fascinating watches. Interestingly the helium escape valve isn't for while in the water, during any length dive the watch won't take on any meaningful amount of helium. They are for saturation divers - very deep sea, under pressure for one month at a time. The divers instead of de pressurising sleep and rest in a pressurised container. As they come up at the end and depressurise in the container over a few days that's when the helium escape valve would start to work, as the air mixture they breathe throughout this time is high in helium. As the air mix changes during de-pressurisation the helium wants to equalise (due to lower pressure in the air|). If it didn't have a valve the sapphire would pop out!
PLOPROF and the BULLHEAD have got to be the two hidden gems in the Omega line up.
Rolex for jewelry and high brand value but Omega wins all day if you want a higher quality watch.

Love the watch content. Quite right that these get a lot of respect in the community, even from those than aren’t particularly into Omega. Don’t have the wrists for these but they are a cool piece of kit 💪
Hi Tom. Always loved the Proplof. One Omega l own is a 1973 Speedy l bought new in 1973! Chaos.

Bought a few Speedmasters and Seamasters - they never did better than covering inflation and cost of ownership. I wouldn't recommend Omega to anybody personally if you want to grow your money/invest. A Rolex 1655 is a nicer quirky alternative that you can actually wear imho and doubles in value every 10 yrs!

@@TGE I know it's a bit of a curse😅, and I would, but it looks like a lot of hard work (as I've seen with my mate Harry when he's doing a shoot), and tbh the r.o.i. seems too low for the work involved 🤨. Just a friendly heads up btw - I've advised Harry M and Damien c/guys and a few others this following info:
I used to own a string of insurance brokers and my old team members are telling me that a few big theft claims have been repudiated of late of social media clients for 'bringing unwanted attention' to the risk - You probably have already, but if not, make sure your insurer knows what you are doing and agrees in writing so they can't wriggle. It's an amazing watch. Has to be worn to really appreciate it. You bought this just before the prices went mad (mainly thanks to Paul Thorpe). Only approx 5 available in Europe on Chrono at teh moment, and if you want one in good condition, you are looking at £8k +. Enjoyed the vid Tom

I tried the new one on at the NYC boutique and was surprised by how light it was. Serious watch with serious style. Wish they would do a 40mm version for smaller wrists.
Yes please on the review on the NTTD I have that Omega and it’s fab , the reason they updated the strap is the straps were breaking as the mesh was snapping off by the main part of the watch

Would be interested in you doing the 007 watch. Can’t find much about the change to the clasp. That was one issue I had with it. And the lack of ceramic bezel.
