There is SO much to comment on, but the thing thats on my mind rn is.. that phonecall at the end expanding this universe?? This is gonna be its own thing like is there gonna be ANOTHER continuation? First CookieFish timeline, now this, holy peak... (ok i looked at the linked tumblr, didnt know the AU(?) had a name, thats rly cool...)
The visual effects in this are CRAZY COOl. The ripped newspaper vibe at the beggining, all the onomatopoeias everywhere, the combination of 3d and 2d, it all jsut works so well and creates something sooo pretty lookin... Only complimented by the freakin stellar animation too, like.. theres SO much energy in every movement. Daves struggle against Condy at the beggining, that davejade fistbump, condesce and meenah rushing to the UPS truck.. BUT ALSO THE FREAKIN FIGHT SCENES?? The Dave and Meenah move in that one scene where they clash and then she slashes him with the bitrident oooh my lord that looks SO GOOD!!! Its only helped by the color choice, the dark red and blaring yellow from widows and doors it made it look so INTENSE, I mean the colorwork in each scene is great.
also i was NOT expecting ICP to show up but i guess thats a given. I love how even here dave has beef with them. also Jade equipping her rifle was so cool too
Which speaking of, despite this being so short the story here is oddly enticing?? like you REALLY made the dialogue WORK with how little of it there was. So cool...
Voicework from the two VAs is great aswell, very natural sounding dialogue from Rose and I'm ASSUMING Jade is credited as having a VA because thats supposed to be her singing the song in the vid? WHICH BTW IS ALSO GREAT I'll have to listen to it a couple more times and focus on the lyrics next time but it also just works SO well for this animation ah its so good

That said, my heart will always yearn for DaveJade.
one of the things i personally always liked about the ships in homestuck is the fact that they never felt like soulmate scenarios except for exactly one ship (rosemary). for everyone else it felt like people got together and fell apart for normal reasons like it happens with any group of people. davekat in post retcon feels right because it makes sense for them to drift together like it happens with normal relationships. i however will never forgive the fanbase for acting like this means they're soulmates and meant to be in any and all circunstances, and to make this make sense they completely delete any chemistry or interest either of these guys ever had for jade AND terezi in canon. it feels disrespectful. terezi at least they have the excuse of her literally choosing not to get involved with either of them or gamzee in post retcon, even tho that doesnt delete the emotional rollercoasters both dave AND karkat went on with her over the course of act 5; but what right do people have to act like jade just doesn't exist and there was nothing going there on either dave or karkat's side??? absolutely baffling. i actually enjoy the epilogues a lot but the stuff going on with the treatment of jade in relation to the soulmateification of davekat is a misstep for sure.
anyways davejade and jadekat truthers are the bravest people on this planet for real @@repulser93
