Dumb theory: Anyone else notice how fluid ENA's movements become after a while? It's no long stop, turn, walk, stop, look around. It becomes looking around while walking. It reminds me of the process of faking you're fine. Her sad voice speaks with the happy face like the choppy steps of hiding sadness. Also she has to go through a code to get to the next area, like reprogramming yourself.
Care might be a strong word- Phindoll was certainly taken aback and concerned though. As for what ENA thought of it, it might have been a factor in her calming down between that scene and her next. It's hard to tell because honestly I'm not even entirely sure ENA is sentient in the first place. Definitely possible though.
Phindoll was one of the coolest characters imo, he’s one of the only ones that wasn’t mean or agressive towards her-he did hit her, but that was part of the ritual. I really hope we’ll get to see all these other ‘NPCs’ again

I realized that Ena's "E" in her name when she receives any item is backwards, also when she gives the turron. But there's also definitely multiple Ena's so idk
oh! joel g almost named the series ƎNA and the only reason he decided against it was because ƎNA is annoying to look up so i'm guesssing Ǝna is her like, real name
Standout things from this animation: -This Ena switches between a male & female voice at seemingly random instead Happy speaking with a male voice and Sad speaking with a Sad voice. The text boxes noticeably refer to this Ena with a reversed E, and The Shepard says "Another Ena troublemaker", implying that there are multiple Enas. We also see some Ena corpses flickering into the mannequin bodies at one point. Third, at the end we see Ena's sad half turn from blue to yellow over the course of Ena & Moony's conversation. My personal theory is that this Ena is possibly 'broken' in some manner. -Moony either doesn't care or dosen't realize that Ena's voices aren't matching the personalities anymore. -The grey personality appears to come out when Ena gets too stressed out. Notably the transformation involves the happy half turning into static and exploding out, erasing Ena's face in the process. It also appears that some physical trauma (in this case, Brick Frog kicking Ena) is necessary to exit the grey personality, unlike the previously seen 'blackout' personalities which can possibly be switched by the other personality exerting themselves (in the auction episode, Ena enters her sad blackout/depressed personality, then switches to Happy!Ena, who apologizes to Moony about her depressed outburst). -Moony's hole is capable of closing to hold things, and she also knows how to skateboard. -Judging by Ena's reaction, Moony's transformation at the end is weird even by this universe's standards.

I think the reason why the blue side of her turned yellow is that her wish was for it to be gone. During the series, she would often apologize or try to excuse herself after an outburst, so she probably feels very insecure and shameful because of it.

I'm gonna guess that moony, not having a turron, just fucken fist fought the shepherd to get by, and that might be why she has their shepherd stick? I think that's what that is
I feel like ENA lives in an old, outdated, and unused computer where data and files are free to roam anywhere within the computer. I also feel like maybe this computer was damaged and there for no longer in use, and allows for what I previously mentioned.
Reboot was this concept to a T, minus the fact that the computer is actually used to play games regularly. But yeah Ena wears its references on its sleeves

I feel like if we ended up in a future where everyone's immortal minds get stuck in a VR world where you can literally create anything but the concept quickly becomes pointless, this would be the kind of world made. Just an endless universe of realms rooms and voids created by individual minds on a whim, so vast that there no longer remains a place where more than a few people at a time can get together because literally everyone is either in their own created world or endlessly wandering (or trapped) in someone else's. In such a world, ena and the moon chick just feel like two beings who randomly found each other and just spend their time roaming these endless planes of existence, their minds slowly continuing to decay due to the potent mix of total isolation and sensory overload from the strange worlds they head through, and wacky characters they talk to.
ive been thinking about this, and i think maybe that since she was in such a state of agony, the sadness fully took over not just become the dominant half, but her happy side literally blew up and there was no division in her, and she was so engrossed in her suffering that it was like she BECAME it (face=identity, her face on her hands covering her now blank face in pain) as for the gray color, maybe since it's black+white (two sides of her face when she experiences extreme emotion), or maybe she's "muting" her other side or ability to function normally, whether by choice or by being overwhelmed edit: upon further viewing (and listening) it seems like the arms run away as well

Okay so weird detail: When Ena talks about the Turron, both as she is talking to the Spanish guy and when she later talks to the shepherd, she does a dance from the music video for “Once in a Lifetime” by Talking Heads. The song is basically about existential dread and how things go by too quickly to the point of madness. Maybe Ena’s going through the same stuff... or she has really good taste in music. Idk.
I'd think that its going through the same stuff, seeing as how immediately after recieving the turron, she realizes she wasted all of her time to get her wish.
Someone here pointed out that the rude way some characters have spoken to Ena (sans Moony) suggests that she's not unique, but rather a type of being in that world. If this is true, does this tie into how Ena keeps "breaking down" and glitching? So far she's the only one who does it seemingly unintentionally (Moony at the end wasn't glitching so much as she was like, hatching or having lipo IDK), and it seems she keeps getting worse, although due to the rules of the world it's hard to say. The frog had to punch her out of that new gray form and she rebooted herself, Phindoll was noticeably taken aback by the violent outburst of her sad white form, too. Plus at the end, she was slowly turning fully yellow. Which leads to my theory: Is Ena a robot/android of some sort? Or is her unstable mind and body a staple of her kind, and if that's so, is that why others look down upon her? *Edit:* WAIT ANOTHER THING I NOTICED: The broken down Enas at the room after Shepherd's briefly glitch into the same mannequins that appear at the start, outside Runa's walking world. Maybe this could be further proof Ena really is just a type of being that the rest regard as expendable/simple?
Assuming that this is a virtual world, she is more likely to be a program. A glitchy one. Maybe virus, as we see that she is but many. Probably these events were attempts of a firewall to get rid of her and/or Moony. Like, they wanted to Run As, meaning they wanted full control of a system. I bet there is some hystorical virus that sounds like the names of the main characters.
By the looked of it, the broken down enas are a single colour plus they flicker into being the default human model. Its possible ENA is a skin over such a blank avatar - further reinforcing the 'sentient chat world' theory
The fucking disapproving head shake. I also like that when she shakes her head, her entire face goes yellow, which from what I can tell means that ENA is 100% disappointed in her friend and is completely confident in her disappointment.
When she goes grey it's because the happy voice is speaking but it's the depressed side shown,if you slow it down enough you see yellow gets ripped out via static,the hands are the depressed side,happy side,drunk side and sad side,just grey blank

Runas is a Windows command. That is used to execute a command under the identity of another user. The command can be used to perform administration tasks without having to login as a user with Admin privilege. So in this case the great Runas is just a command that ENA and Moony want to run to make their Wishes. Im just wondering wich identity Moony used to make their wish.
I really like how the two voice actors co-operate on ENA's line at 12:28 Lizzie exhales a pout at the end of her line and Gabe precedes his own with an inhale to convince the two voices as mere tonal shifts sharing the same breath. Good vocal trick.
I keep coming back to these videos and I keep getting a weird sense of nostalgia that reminds me of programming and scripting of 90’s and 00’s games and software. Maybe that’s the idea behind these of Joel’s just making strange but passionate art with his animations and videos. Either way, will always come back to rewatch these videos.
I hate how no one else is talking about Ulysses. I love his character design and I feel like what he says isn’t even considered for theories. He seems to only give Ena the option to leave once she mentions her bet with Moony. The music also begins to fade as he talks about her failing “like the rest of them” which to me seems like a very clear indicator that he has also encountered multiple Enas just like the Shepherd. This also brings up something strange: How are these others getting into the Great Runas? I assume the goal is to beat Runas to the standing figure before time runs out, and Ena appeared there after failing the challenge by a small margin allowing her to be taken in. If the other Enas were already in Runas, this has to mean other Enas were present for previous Runas parties and all failed as well. Does this mean a few inevitably succeeded? And if Runas parties only happen every few years, how far in the past do these other Enas originate from? “Desires are never quenched” is also something to take into consideration. If he means that Runas wishes don’t grant what the wisher truly wants, then why did Moony’s wish to be thinner get granted? Perhaps her wish to be thinner wasn’t granted how she wished, as she ended up hatching into an entirely new entity.
I'd like to add that when he speaks he seems to be luring and warding ENA away simultaneously. Almost like he has to let her through but fears what will happen within. But he presumably hasn't been through the Holy Code so how does he know they failed?
One thing I realized while talking with a friend and trying to get them a picture of Ulysses. I absentmindedly googled "Runas". runas is a command-line tool in Windows. Combined with the Holy Code, I wonder what that says about ENA's world, if anything.
Everyone is talking about Ena's personalities and faces.. but why nobody mentions that Moony changed her appearence. Her white side of face is now on the right and her new self came out of her old self like a shell. Maybe in another episode, we will see her in more Humanoid shape.
If you look closely at the end, ENAs personality changes from blue, green, then yellow gradually once Moony made her wish. It's possible her wish was to fix ENA and now she's seeing her as she really looks, but Moony just lied to her so she doesn't have to know what the wish really was.

Phindoll is the kindest side character in this whole series; he's one of the only ones to actually notice ENA's instability and change his plans accordingly. That kind of accommodation is a higher example to us all. Also, he comes out of an Ophanim so I think that makes him a cherub? I'm not sure, I'm no theologian.
Yes except we can string together the stuff characters say to make some sense no matter how small. Although yes they work well as slice of life episodes. There are a lot of things that stay consistent such as the implications of a lot of ENAs (the royal-esque looking guy saying "like the rest of them", that being in the sunflower field "another ENA troublemaker", the Rubik thing in Extinction party saying "Simpletons" in plural). This is just an example but it's the easiest one to string together

"Whoever reaches the top of the Great Runas and makes their wish first _has to pay the debts of the loser._ " Moony got her wish first. Moony had to pay the debts of the _loser._ ENA is the loser. Moony paid ENA's debts. ENA's sad side disappeared. _"It's a proper punishment."_ _"PUNISHMENT IS IMMINENT!"_ _"You will fail--just like the rest of them."_ Was that ENA's debt? How did Moony pay it? Did Moony plan this? She deflected when ENA asked her how she got there so fast. She was probably behind ENA for a hot minute, since we never see her and she has the Shepherd's staff stuck in her moon-square...
near the end Moony says "btw, Runas doesn't look all that handsome in person, and you're thinking of Moony being behind Ena the whole time, but hang on didn't Ena see the great runas? 👀
This whole world feels like several unfinished ARG pasted together yet still lacking any end. We keep on getting bits of 'lore' but nothing is explained, any codes have no grander meaning and the land itself changes at the flip of a coin. Maybe it will all come together into one cohesive story but I'm enjoying the whole feeling of this is some kind of dream. We keep trying hard to remember the old dream but the only thing that stays the same is ENA and Moony since we 'know' them best but even they are subject to dream like changes
Yeah! At first, it sort of reminded me of Baman Piderman on modomedia, both shows are surreal, they have strangely empty landscapes, the characters are various unidentifiable lifeforms, etc. But the difference is Baman Piderman builds on itself, every episode directly follows the previous ones, and the worldbuilding is very constant and it prefers to revisit old characters and see how they've changed rather than introducing new ones. ENA is just sort of all over the place, the only characters we really know are Ena and Moony, and even then, I don't think I really understand either of them.
Maybe it'll be like axed? In the sense that all the weird humor, bizzare Easter eggs and scraps of info will eventually tie together to an ending that makes somehow makes sense?

I'm pretty sure ENA's wish was to be more whole and of one mind, because at the end she becomes more and more of one color. Pretty sure it's gonna end up hurting her though, sadly.
Yeah. I think a part of that wish was to always be clear minded, optimistic, and “happy” since she switches to yellow. And I think she wishes this because whenever she acts differently than her typical yellow personality, she’s ignored, hit, etc. Pretty sad stuff.
Something to support this is after the frog kicks her and she switches, her eye on the blue side has a tear in it as her mouth on the yellow side smiles.
Its better to accept all aspects of yourself rather than trying to get rid or hide those you see as flawed. You are who you are and there's nothing wrong with that

Though when talking to MARIYA and GABO the male voice breaks down and talks through the blue face, telling them they've been living a lie, presumably, because the "normal" ENA was just a front. Both sides were equally distressed when talking to PhinDoll, and thanks to the comments, I figured ENA was really stressed throughout this episode, and possibly has some mental health issues (Forgive me, I'm not very well versed in the topic of the Autism spectrum, I really need to start researching-). I also noticed that she seems to have this sort of "babytalk" sometimes when she's sad. I suppose that it's like showing vulnerability? But I can see how people... uh, entities? would ignore her depressive episodes because, as sad as it is, people tend to be uncomfortable with those who display too much emotional outbursts...

It feels as though, in this world, ENA is a lower being, unequal to many others. Moony seems to be among those who are 'better' and 'more deserving'. It's kind of like a cosmic form of discrimination.
i feel like ENA may be kind of a middle being, "better" than the bland mannequins we see all throughout the video, but also "lesser" to creatures such as moony, shepherd or Ulysses. I think the only character in this video that actually spoke with ENA like a fellow (except for Moony ofc) was phindoll, which makes me wonder about their position in the hierarchy

Notice how Moony doesn't know how to pronounce Ena's name? In auction day it was pronounced E-na. In Extinction party it was N-na. Now in temptation Stairway, it was Ena, Jena, and I-na.
Well since her actual name is 3NA (reversed E) maybe moony just doesnt know how to pronounce the first letter of her name so shes just trying to guess the correct one

Did anyone else notice that happy and sad ENA didn't always talk when their respective faces were showing? There were a number of times when the female voice would talk when the happy side was showing (as well as being much more confident than she usually is), and when ENA was talking to Phindol the male voice started talking while depressed ENA's face was showing. Also ENA turning completely yellow at the end... Just thought that was odd.

Standout things from this animation:
-This Ena switches between a male & female voice at seemingly random instead Happy speaking with a male voice and Sad speaking with a Sad voice. The text boxes noticeably refer to this Ena with a reversed E, and The Shepard says "Another Ena troublemaker", implying that there are multiple Enas. We also see some Ena corpses flickering into the mannequin bodies at one point. Third, at the end we see Ena's sad half turn from blue to yellow over the course of Ena & Moony's conversation. My personal theory is that this Ena is possibly 'broken' in some manner.
-Moony either doesn't care or dosen't realize that Ena's voices aren't matching the personalities anymore.
-The grey personality appears to come out when Ena gets too stressed out. Notably the transformation involves the happy half turning into static and exploding out, erasing Ena's face in the process. It also appears that some physical trauma (in this case, Brick Frog kicking Ena) is necessary to exit the grey personality, unlike the previously seen 'blackout' personalities which can possibly be switched by the other personality exerting themselves (in the auction episode, Ena enters her sad blackout/depressed personality, then switches to Happy!Ena, who apologizes to Moony about her depressed outburst).
-Moony's hole is capable of closing to hold things, and she also knows how to skateboard.
-Judging by Ena's reaction, Moony's transformation at the end is weird even by this universe's standards.
Also, at the end, moony's hole thing has Shepard's staff in it.
Idk if I’m overthinking or anything but the grey version of Ena also could look like a mannequin- maybe the mannequins and the grey version could mean something-? Idk but I’d just like to point it out now that you mention this theory 👀
I think the reason why the blue side of her turned yellow is that her wish was for it to be gone. During the series, she would often apologize or try to excuse herself after an outburst, so she probably feels very insecure and shameful because of it.

I feel like ENA lives in an old, outdated, and unused computer where data and files are free to roam anywhere within the computer. I also feel like maybe this computer was damaged and there for no longer in use, and allows for what I previously mentioned.
Reboot was this concept to a T, minus the fact that the computer is actually used to play games regularly. But yeah Ena wears its references on its sleeves

I feel like if we ended up in a future where everyone's immortal minds get stuck in a VR world where you can literally create anything but the concept quickly becomes pointless, this would be the kind of world made.
Just an endless universe of realms rooms and voids created by individual minds on a whim, so vast that there no longer remains a place where more than a few people at a time can get together because literally everyone is either in their own created world or endlessly wandering (or trapped) in someone else's.
In such a world, ena and the moon chick just feel like two beings who randomly found each other and just spend their time roaming these endless planes of existence, their minds slowly continuing to decay due to the potent mix of total isolation and sensory overload from the strange worlds they head through, and wacky characters they talk to.
This is such a well written/thought out concept, I love this interpretation!!

ive been thinking about this, and i think maybe that since she was in such a state of agony, the sadness fully took over
not just become the dominant half, but her happy side literally blew up and there was no division in her, and she was so engrossed in her suffering that it was like she BECAME it (face=identity, her face on her hands covering her now blank face in pain)
as for the gray color, maybe since it's black+white (two sides of her face when she experiences extreme emotion), or maybe she's "muting" her other side or ability to function normally, whether by choice or by being overwhelmed
edit: upon further viewing (and listening) it seems like the arms run away as well
also, this could be related to those other sides of Ena we saw in extinction party when she was drunk, this being the opposite of that perhaps

Okay so weird detail:
When Ena talks about the Turron, both as she is talking to the Spanish guy and when she later talks to the shepherd, she does a dance from the music video for “Once in a Lifetime” by Talking Heads. The song is basically about existential dread and how things go by too quickly to the point of madness. Maybe Ena’s going through the same stuff... or she has really good taste in music. Idk.
I'd think that its going through the same stuff, seeing as how immediately after recieving the turron, she realizes she wasted all of her time to get her wish.

Nearly all of ENA's movement throughout the series is based off that video.
Someone here pointed out that the rude way some characters have spoken to Ena (sans Moony) suggests that she's not unique, but rather a type of being in that world. If this is true, does this tie into how Ena keeps "breaking down" and glitching? So far she's the only one who does it seemingly unintentionally (Moony at the end wasn't glitching so much as she was like, hatching or having lipo IDK), and it seems she keeps getting worse, although due to the rules of the world it's hard to say.
The frog had to punch her out of that new gray form and she rebooted herself, Phindoll was noticeably taken aback by the violent outburst of her sad white form, too. Plus at the end, she was slowly turning fully yellow.
Which leads to my theory: Is Ena a robot/android of some sort? Or is her unstable mind and body a staple of her kind, and if that's so, is that why others look down upon her?
*Edit:* WAIT ANOTHER THING I NOTICED: The broken down Enas at the room after Shepherd's briefly glitch into the same mannequins that appear at the start, outside Runa's walking world. Maybe this could be further proof Ena really is just a type of being that the rest regard as expendable/simple?

Assuming that this is a virtual world, she is more likely to be a program. A glitchy one. Maybe virus, as we see that she is but many. Probably these events were attempts of a firewall to get rid of her and/or Moony. Like, they wanted to Run As, meaning they wanted full control of a system. I bet there is some hystorical virus that sounds like the names of the main characters.

The command can be used to perform administration tasks without having to login as a user with Admin privilege.
So in this case the great Runas is just a command that ENA and Moony want to run to make their Wishes.

I hate how no one else is talking about Ulysses. I love his character design and I feel like what he says isn’t even considered for theories. He seems to only give Ena the option to leave once she mentions her bet with Moony. The music also begins to fade as he talks about her failing “like the rest of them” which to me seems like a very clear indicator that he has also encountered multiple Enas just like the Shepherd. This also brings up something strange:
How are these others getting into the Great Runas? I assume the goal is to beat Runas to the standing figure before time runs out, and Ena appeared there after failing the challenge by a small margin allowing her to be taken in. If the other Enas were already in Runas, this has to mean other Enas were present for previous Runas parties and all failed as well. Does this mean a few inevitably succeeded? And if Runas parties only happen every few years, how far in the past do these other Enas originate from?
“Desires are never quenched” is also something to take into consideration. If he means that Runas wishes don’t grant what the wisher truly wants, then why did Moony’s wish to be thinner get granted? Perhaps her wish to be thinner wasn’t granted how she wished, as she ended up hatching into an entirely new entity.

Everyone is talking about Ena's personalities and faces.. but why nobody mentions that Moony changed her appearence.
Her white side of face is now on the right and her new self came out of her old self like a shell.
Maybe in another episode, we will see her in more Humanoid shape.
If you look closely at the end, ENAs personality changes from blue, green, then yellow gradually once Moony made her wish. It's possible her wish was to fix ENA and now she's seeing her as she really looks, but Moony just lied to her so she doesn't have to know what the wish really was.

Phindoll is the kindest side character in this whole series; he's one of the only ones to actually notice ENA's instability and change his plans accordingly. That kind of accommodation is a higher example to us all.

This is just an example but it's the easiest one to string together

This whole world feels like several unfinished ARG pasted together yet still lacking any end. We keep on getting bits of 'lore' but nothing is explained, any codes have no grander meaning and the land itself changes at the flip of a coin. Maybe it will all come together into one cohesive story but I'm enjoying the whole feeling of this is some kind of dream. We keep trying hard to remember the old dream but the only thing that stays the same is ENA and Moony since we 'know' them best but even they are subject to dream like changes
Yeah! At first, it sort of reminded me of Baman Piderman on modomedia, both shows are surreal, they have strangely empty landscapes, the characters are various unidentifiable lifeforms, etc. But the difference is Baman Piderman builds on itself, every episode directly follows the previous ones, and the worldbuilding is very constant and it prefers to revisit old characters and see how they've changed rather than introducing new ones.
ENA is just sort of all over the place, the only characters we really know are Ena and Moony, and even then, I don't think I really understand either of them.
Thats the fun of it
Maybe it'll be like axed? In the sense that all the weird humor, bizzare Easter eggs and scraps of info will eventually tie together to an ending that makes somehow makes sense?

I'm pretty sure ENA's wish was to be more whole and of one mind, because at the end she becomes more and more of one color. Pretty sure it's gonna end up hurting her though, sadly.
Yeah. I think a part of that wish was to always be clear minded, optimistic, and “happy” since she switches to yellow. And I think she wishes this because whenever she acts differently than her typical yellow personality, she’s ignored, hit, etc. Pretty sad stuff.
Something to support this is after the frog kicks her and she switches, her eye on the blue side has a tear in it as her mouth on the yellow side smiles.

The frog seems to be relieved after she finally behaves "normally", the charismatic and outgoing side of her taking the reigns, and the female voice that's usually associated with sadness seems to be talking with the yellow face? Though when talking to MARIYA and GABO the male voice breaks down and talks through the blue face, telling them they've been living a lie, presumably, because the "normal" ENA was just a front.
Both sides were equally distressed when talking to PhinDoll, and thanks to the comments, I figured ENA was really stressed throughout this episode, and possibly has some mental health issues (Forgive me, I'm not very well versed in the topic of the Autism spectrum, I really need to start researching-).
I also noticed that she seems to have this sort of "babytalk" sometimes when she's sad. I suppose that it's like showing vulnerability? But I can see how people... uh, entities? would ignore her depressive episodes because, as sad as it is, people tend to be uncomfortable with those who display too much emotional outbursts...

Did anyone else notice that happy and sad ENA didn't always talk when their respective faces were showing? There were a number of times when the female voice would talk when the happy side was showing (as well as being much more confident than she usually is), and when ENA was talking to Phindol the male voice started talking while depressed ENA's face was showing. Also ENA turning completely yellow at the end... Just thought that was odd.
