Congrats! Great choice. I have a 2014 SHO and I love it. I bought mine in 2015 it was off lease and had 32,000 miles. It now has 103,000 miles and still runs great. It's got the same wheels as yours and it's tuxedo black metallic. I murdered it all out wheels, window trim, grille surround, and trunk. Tinted the windows and and de-badged it. It's black and beautiful. Good luck and drive safe.

Heated and cooled seats with massage, ambient lighting, voice controlled navigation, the works. I truly loved driving this car. Alas my black beauty was stolen and found totaled three miles away. I think I know who snatched it but that’s another story and I’ve let it go. I mellowed out, started reconfiguring my life for retirement. Man that’s such a sad story and I agree with the lexus thing. If I don’t get a SHO soon, I think I’m gna give up and just get a lexus too. Once again sorry to hear your SHO got stolen….man.
I took an Uber the other night and the guy was driving a Taurus Limited. I was stunned how nice the interior was. And it felt like I was riding in a tank. Really solid. I've been looking at used BM's, Audi's, and Lexus's too. But why not pay half the money and get one of these. And it will have more options than those other cars and will cost cheaper to fix. Like it in the Ruby Red color. Will be picking one up soon. Like a 2018 or 2019. Nice review. I agree with everything you said.
I 100% agree! Ford really killed it with the Taurus. They certainly competed very well with those other expensive brands. Thank you so much for watching!
I own a 2015 Taurus limited my advice to you if any parts need to be changed always use Motorcraft. The alternator on the car went out recently and I try to put in a generic brand alternator in the car and it wouldn’t run properly, I had to pull it back out and put in a brand new Motorcraft alternator and it ran just like it did when I first got it. The actuator under the dash on the passenger side has gone out once and the same thing I use a generic part it worked for a little while and then it stopped working again I installed a Motorcraft part this time and I have not had a problem since. My wife loves the car she always says it’s the best car she’s ever owned she loves how comfortable it drives how much trunk space it has many of her friends get in the car with her they always tell her how much they love her car.
I bought a 2016 Taurus limited in January this year with 40k miles. It still drives amazing with no problems, a very smooth ride. All I had to replace was the cabin air filter and did a routine oil change so far and I also upgraded my headlights to LED as they came with standard halogen. I want to upgrade to HID in the future though.
Very nice SHO, yours looks like the full load. I purchased my 2011 SHO last May. I bought it privately from a gentleman for 10K who had babied it for the 10 years he owned it. The car had 78000 KMs (48400 miles) and was immaculate. I sold my 2015 Challenger RT (5.7L 6 spd) and replaced it with this Rocket. The smartest move I have ever made car-wise! This past winter (I live in Vancouver BC) we have had horrible weather, massive flooding in the Fraser Valley, and several major snowfalls. My SHO with all-season tires handled the snow easily. If I had still owned my Challenger I wouldn't have been able to go anywhere, even though I had winter tires for it! The SHO is comfortable, really fast, handles great for a big car, is equipped with an excellent nav / sound system. Best of all it seats 4 comfortably and has the trunk space for golf clubs and luggage for a road trip! For a car that has been ripped by consumer reports and other auto journalists., the SHO ( and MKS) sure have a loyal following.
As a Fusion Sport owner I must say, Ford did a hell of a job with these sleepers. They produced a ton of them in the 2010s - pretty much anything Ford put a v6 ecoboost became an immediate sleeper. Very underrated moment in automotive history.
I know this video is 2 yrs old but it popped up for me. I bought a brand new 2014 SHO but I had the PP (Performance Package) on mine with the Flower wheels, etc. It was silver just like yours! I installed a Gearhead Tune, 3-bar MAP, CAI, Exhaust, H&R Lowering Springs, etc. I got her on the Mustang Dyno and got her to about 500 Crank HP and 515 ft lbs! With AWD I would beat Mustangs, Camaros, etc - it was hilarious being in a huge, heavy family sedan with massaging/cooled/heated seats, etc! 🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
Oh my goodness you put a lot of work into that thing! See, I need to do the same thing! I’ve got 115,000+ miles now on the very car you’ve seen in this video and I’m scared of blowing it up. 😂 500+ hp in this thing probably gets it really MOVING! Thank you for watching and commenting!
I agree completely, Anywhere I went convenience store, etc. I always had someone come up to me and compliment the looks of my car. The metallic black with the same wheels as in the video, the car was a looker, that's for sure.
I bought a black 2016 Ford Taurus SEL with AWD, 20 inch tire package, sunroof, leather, etc more than the Limited options. The car then was less than 3 years old from a Ford dealer with 32k, one owner and new front brakes for $17.6k. I received an additional 18 month, 36k warranty all around and 100k/60 month engine and transmission from Ford. Just changed the original battery with 54k miles and battery and terminal looked pretty much like it's new replacement. Of course I change the 20" tires about 6 months after the purchase from Tire Track. This is a big car man, and gets around 18.5 miles in strictly around town because of the 4400 lb weight. If you drive conservatively at 65 mph you can get about 26.5 mpg which is great for a car of this size. Love to buy this car again but of course 2019 was the last year produced.
That sounds like a fly ride man! They’re really nice all-around! 2019 is certainly the last year they produced them do that means you can get them for cheap and only 4 years old!
I've had the exact car for 3 years. I put a Livernois tune, 3 bar map sensor, 160° thermostat and a cold air intake and it unleashed a beast. 0-60 in 4 seconds. All for under a grand. Oh...and some H&R springs; stiffens up ride a bit and shrinks the wheel gab about 1.5 inches.
I promise. That was my favorite car when it came out in '89. The next generation had a v8, but it was slower. They were redesigned for 2010 and I was all over every article I could fins about them. I finally bought a '15 in Nov of '18. Go to livernoismotorsports.com. '10-'19 SHO and Ecoboost mods are a specialty.
I own a 2016 dark blue and have the same rims you have. I could never care for the "flower petal" rims most SHOs had, but for a few years they offered those rims (I think they were optional on the SEL model) as a no cost option, and that sold the car for me.
I bought a 2014 couple weeks ago and I’m still learning stuff I didn’t even know about the car 😂 I got a mild tune on it, straight exhaust and I couldn’t be happier. Only thing I think I’ll do is change the air intake. Has a push bar on the front and everybody thinks it’s a ghost car!
@@TheHungryRoad it is an SCT tuner that came with mine. The other day I was playing with the shift points, really like how you can dial it in for your style of driving. Thanks for the video!
Excellent choice I have a 2015 Ruby red metallic PP but your color would have been my next choice. That looks soooo clean from inside to out, I can say a few things you may not see a lot of SHO's driving around well at least in my city (Chicago) because brand new it was $46,580 depending on the package. And people may not wanted to pay $$$ for a Ford SHO so they just lease it for business/personal "That's my opinion". I bought mine off a lease in Kentuck I drove from Chicago. The market is oversaturated with Chargers, R/T, Scat pack Ect with the wrong driver in those cars off the line they have to play catch up by then the race is over. SHO wins. Last thing if you do change sound let me know what you did. I'm about to change mine soon maybe Kenwood xr600
Thank you so much! I bet that Ruby red GLOWS in the sunlight! I try to keep my cars as clean as possibly, but a shout out definitely goes to the previous owner for taking such good care of it. You’re certainly right about the road being flooded with Scat Packs. Lol. I love those cars too, but LOTS of people don’t know how to act with them. Lol. I do plan on doing some things to the car. Just bought a 2011. Less than 30K miles. Mine is Ingot Silver too- btw, this is the wrong color for this car. Try and find one in red, blue or green. I’d even take one in black and I hate black (these look amazing murdered out). But anyway, these are one of the MOST underrated cars on the road. Legitimately quick, extremely comfortable, and the styling has aged remarkably well. They ate also, shockingly reliable. But this is not a competition for the Charger- it’s a cut rate american audi.
I owned a 2013 SHO with the PP. Maintained it meticulously and still the left turbo began to leak. Make sure you change the PTU fluid and don't listen to Ford when they say lifetime fluid. Plenty of ways to tune the car but I recommend keeping stock for a chance of longevity. Great cars when they run well...can be expensive nightmares when they don't.
@@TheHungryRoad around 74k mark. Keep an eye on it. Also they have an internal waterpump which is a weak point. I found regular coolant changes helped for me. However, like I said they are fun great cars when running well.

You’ve got that right! Thank you so much! I was truly surprised when I found out all of the options that it had. I think the only things it’s missing is the adaptive cruise control and massaging seats! Lol.
These are very rare where I live in the North West. Every time I see one it's like seeing a unicorn. I had no idea they came in all wheel drive. But it is a bit on the heavy side.
I actually just purchased a 2015 Lincoln MKS ecoboost which is essentially the same car as the SHO just the Lincoln version. I also looked at a couple Quadraportes, some Audis such as the S4, RS6, and A8. Also looked at some of the Mercedes CLs... At the end of the day all of those cars tend to come with very hefty repair costs, and the only ones that can do fairly well in snowy winters where I live are the Audis. I chose the MKS because being a Ford made product, the repair bills are significantly less than anything German, and the AWD is top notch and as long as it can clear the snow, it can plow right through it. The very heavy weight combined with the AWD just plows right through snow. Of all the cars I looked at, the MKS with the ecoboost was hands down the best choice. Oh yeah, for such a heavy car, it REALLY scoots. lol.
Man this review was good I didn’t have to skip any parts I see your a one man army switching up that camera angles btw what brand of watch are you wearing?
Thank you so much for your kind words. I am still a one-man show and I’m keeping things going. Lol. The watch I’m wearing is a gift from my wife and it’s an Invicta brand. The model I’m unsure of, but it’s a “skeleton” style where you can see all the way through it and it’s automatic so no batteries are needed.
I wish I had that engine and that drive system in my 2014 Ford Flex. I love the car, it was spec'd by a wealthy man, but he wasn't car guy. @@strivinghigher7005 The water pump seal must be replaced every 80k or it will take a dump and leave you stranded on the highway with a bricked engine.
Make absolutely sure the maintenance is immaculate!
My wife loves the car she always says it’s the best car she’s ever owned she loves how comfortable it drives how much trunk space it has many of her friends get in the car with her they always tell her how much they love her car.
you absolutely cannot go wrong with a FORD TAURUS! best car ever made IMO
I bought a 2013 ford Taurus sel I love the car and it’s a true sleeper. Got some internals done
Good choice man! The Limited trim is very, very nice and luxurious.
Nice car, LeD headlights now you can blind every one at night coming the oposite way & give them eyeball floaties👍

SSSHHHEEEEEESSSHHH! That’s a GOOD deal.
the SHO is an awesome car - I would buy any Ford though over any Chrysler product.
As a Fusion Sport owner I must say, Ford did a hell of a job with these sleepers. They produced a ton of them in the 2010s - pretty much anything Ford put a v6 ecoboost became an immediate sleeper. Very underrated moment in automotive history.
I agree 100%! They’re also tune-able too! I just haven’t gotten to that stage yet. Lol.
They really had a fleet of sleeper editions of their normal vehicles, but the sho is the best of them imo.

Nice car and one other thing it stands out from the crowd it doesn't Look like anything else on the Road
Agreed! That’s what I was going for! I’m glad somebody sees it my way!
I agree completely, Anywhere I went convenience store, etc. I always had someone come up to me and compliment the looks of my car. The metallic black with the same wheels as in the video, the car was a looker, that's for sure.
just got a 13 taurus limited. needs new strut bearings but i love it. once i get out of college I am definitely buying a SHO. great car all around.
Purchased my SHO in April 2023. Been still learning and loving it. Went with Ruby Red Metallic paint, and decided to call her Dorothy 😂
OOOHHHWWWEEE! I bet that red looks beautiful in the sunlight!
Sheesh! Sounds like that’s route I need to take!
AND....I get better gas mileage. I average 28+ hiway.
@@stevek8. You’re kidding me. Seriously?!
I appreciate you!
I own a 2016 dark blue and have the same rims you have. I could never care for the "flower petal" rims most SHOs had, but for a few years they offered those rims (I think they were optional on the SEL model) as a no cost option, and that sold the car for me.
I like our wheels better too. The flower wheels are a cool design for sure, but the 10 spoke is much better.
I bought a 2014 couple weeks ago and I’m still learning stuff I didn’t even know about the car 😂
I got a mild tune on it, straight exhaust and I couldn’t be happier. Only thing I think I’ll do is change the air intake. Has a push bar on the front and everybody thinks it’s a ghost car!
NICE! Thank you for tuning in and checking out the video! I need to get a tune for mine, I just am hardly home. 😫😩😖
I agree! Congratulations and welcome to the club!
My son just turned 19. He had a 2006 ford escape then a 2001 Volvo and now he mentioned a 2013 taurus sho. I had to look it up to see what he was getting his self into Lol. And from what i've learned he will be satisfied.
Agreed. Is there any reason he specified a 2013? I’d push him toward the newest year possible with low miles if he’s going to stick with a SHO.
I like the way you think! Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the family!
You are an awesome storyteller/narrator. Keep it up. I love my 2016 Black SHO with perf pack. Incl Alcantara steering wheel.
Lol. I appreciate you! Thank you for listening!
When did your turbo start leaking?
@@TheHungryRoad around 74k mark. Keep an eye on it. Also they have an internal waterpump which is a weak point. I found regular coolant changes helped for me. However, like I said they are fun great cars when running well.
I have 79,000 miles on mine now. I do keep up with regular maintenance. How could you tell a turbo was leaking?
@@TheHungryRoad That was the issue, never affected the performance that I noticed but the dealer diagnosed it and went to an independent to verify. Quoted $2200 plus Canadian dealer wanted close to $3k.

Oh yeah, for such a heavy car, it REALLY scoots. lol.
I’m glad to hear it! Enjoy it dude!

Hello Scott and thanks for watching! Indeed! I wonder if they’ll ever make another Taurus SHO.
Nice video man. 👍🏻👍🏻 I have the “sister“ to your car. A 2013 Lincoln MKS eco-boost in silver. I love mine as well!
A friend of mine has one too and has done some engine modifications to it as well.
I remember when I was in my teenage years when the ford sho first came out I hated them they were ugly did not like the car one bit. But this new revamped version of the taurus I really liked so my wife and I bought a 2015 Taurus limited used and it’s been a really nice car my wife loves the car. One thing I will tell everyone is that if you have something go out in the car which I had an alternator go out, go back with a New Motorcraft part. I try to put in a generic alternator like I’ve always done and all my vehicles, this car did not like it would not run right I had to pull it back out and go purchase a brand new Motorcraft alternator and a car ran perfectly after that.
Good advice sir! I appreciate that and thank you for taking the time out to check out my video!
I never liked the giant wall of the center console which takes up room in the large interior and constricts movement. That was a deal breaker for me.
I totally understand that, but I’ve gotten used to it. Lol.
Ugh picking up my 2017 sho black on black Monday after work 💯👹🏋♂️
Congratulations my good man! Welcome
to the club!
Just bought one yesterday and it will be my 8th SHO
Whoa! You’re a super-fan! I love to hear it!
@@TheHungryRoad first ecoboost, but had many 1st generation and second when I was much younger. Always wanted another so I went with a 2015 like yourself. I'm pretty happy but driving it yesterday I noticed I want to give it a bit more speed at 55 60 mph.
Great video bro! Love tour enthusiasm!
I’m considering this over another SUV
I’m a big guy too - 6-3 250
Think this is big enough? My other concern is the lower viewpoint when driving. This vehicle sits pretty high right?
Thank you so much! I appreciate it! You’ll definitely fit in the car. The seat goes back really far. I sit with the seat as low as possible so I don’t feel like I sit up too high.
@@TheHungryRoad of course! It’s people like you who help consumers like me make the right decision!
I also like that you have the balls to talk about how the lower price factored into your decision - that’s what a real man does! We always look to SAVE money!
@@danski6694. I definitely appreciate that. 🙏🏽 It’s been to me so far and we’re coming up on a year of ownership!
the comfort issues with the suspension come from the big wheels. i have a police interceptor with the 3.5l eco that has a stiffer suspension than even the SHO but it has 17in wheels and its more comfortable than my 19in wheel taurus limited
if you want it to be more comfortable get more sidewall on your tires and it will solve it
Makes sense! I appreciate that!
Always wanted one, Maby one day. I’m hoping they spike in value in 10-20 years
You’d want one before then! Lol.
@@TheHungryRoad the plan
Had my Sho for about a year now and had nonstop problems but i absolutely love it. Is it just me or do any other SHO owners experience issues? especially when it comes to building boost, its almost like it wont build any, just releases it instantly.
What year is yours and how many miles are on it? It stinks that you’re having so many issues.
@@TheHungryRoad It’s a 2015 with 63k, just had a brand new engine and 2 new turbos put in through warranty due to me blowing both of my turbos recently. It still has issues whenever I go to press on the gas it’ll build boost for a second and release over and over again.
@@SomaticDrop. A brand new engine at 63,000 miles?! Sheesh! And what kinda warranty do you have that stretches 7 years?! Lol. It sounds like there could be some tuning issues that need to be sorted out at the dealership where you got the engine replaced.
@@TheHungryRoad I just recently purchased it last year, bought a platinum warranty at the dealership with the car. I was shocked myself, I managed to blow 1 turbo, they replaced it, blew the other and they replaced it then somehow blew both again. This was after previous engine damage and trouble that has been going on all throughout this year. They replaced the engine and both turbos and now I’m having this issue again somehow.
@@SomaticDrop. My goodness. Are you documenting all of this on your own UA-cam channel?! This needs to be shared!
Love it I live in Connecticut as well I have a Ford as well
Thank you dude!
Get the Gearhead auto octane tune, otherwise Ortiz is good also.
Good choice but have you ever checked out the Fusion Sport?
I haven’t yet. A long time ago I believe I rented a Fusion Titanium Hybrid in Denver. I really liked that car.
