      Vel Boone No Doubt. The Taurus actually looks like a car and not some overly designed electronic bullshit like most vehicles on the road today.

      @Jaden Wright what short sighted people like this reviewer doesnt see, is that constant redesigns and new models isn't free and the consumer ends up paying for it on the sticker price!

    • @kingbran923
      @kingbran923 3 роки тому +2

      @stirange They discontinued it. This car isn't showing it's age at all, except for maybe the infotainment system. This car isn't a 20 year old broken down car with fading paint, it looks brand new! A 2018 Taurus is only 4 years old, sure you might be used to seeing that body style but I disagree with the statement the reviewer keeps saying, "showing its age" that just isn't true.

      Greg Winokur nice. My 2010 SHO has 136,000. No major problems other than a dumbass tow truck driver towed it incorrectly and basically ripped out the rear end. Get it back Monday and I miss her

      I got a 12 with 145000 miles. I have been through a transfer case. And on monday i am turning it to the shop for a new water pump and timing chains. T case because i bought it used non pp

    • @TheMX957
      @TheMX957 6 років тому

      Just sent mine back home for timing and water pump. Doesn't need a pump but since my '13 has 113k on it and they're going in to do the timing chains anyway, I might as well just to be safe. I'm driving my mom's 2006 Jaguar X-type and I miss my car :(. I'm over the cheap looking tan, only driven by grandparents interior and the shitty fake wood trim and I'm getting annoyed just thinking about it.
      Plus it's summer and my ass sweats. I want my AC seats back...

    As a proud owner of a 2018 SHO, in my opinion its not showing its age and with its burgundy velvet metallic paint, I have yet to run across another one in my color. She is strong, a tank. and I still get compliments on its looks. Big ass trunk, 25mpg on the highway and that's with a tune with meth. So please don't mock the MPG. And as far as reliability your spot on. I also have a 2103 SEL AWD, 162,000 miles that I've owned since 2014, I only had one check engine light, and a water pump change, original PTU and transmission,,, just keep the fluids changed and these cars easily go to 200,000 miles. These cars are built tough.

    The newer years of the Ford Taurus look like modernized versions of the 08 models, and that’s honestly perfectly fine. The Taurus looks completely morderán compared to even new cars on the road today. I don’t consider myself to be a diehard Ford fan but the Taurus and specifically the SHO catches my eye.

      One of the best ways to build your credit is with a secured credit card. If you don't mess that up, next year apply for a standard credit card. If you do well with that for a year, you can go to dealer and they'll work with you to find someone to finance you on an SHO. The rate won't be ideal but way better than a buy here pay here. You can find a well maintained 2014 in the low 20s now.
      My fear is that 2018 is the last we'll see of the SHO and then the used ones will get scarce. Don't let that happen to you 😁.

      4/2/18, I have a 2015 Taurus LTD/awd, 288hp; the only difference b/w the SHO engine & mine is mine's not turbo. Believe me when I tell you, mine gets up & goes, you're doing 80 on the hwy & not even feeling it. My car's ~$6k less than the SHO. Also, you want the higher profile wheels (255/45/R19) instead of the wheels shown, more sidewall is better. Keeping the same basic design is a good thing, it cuts retooling costs & provides for a good parts aftermarket when the time comes. 2018 is basically the same as 2010; that's why the VW Beetle was so successful. I might add that my last car was a 2002 Cadillac DTS, I kept (nickel & dime-ing) that pos for 13 years b/4 it finally peeted out.

    That's a really nice looking car, I like the color and of course the 3.5 tt.
    I found a 2010 SHO, a 1 owner TN car with no paint or body work, it's red candy metallic and has pretty much new Michelins. It was $45k and some change new, I am buying it for just under $10k. I think it's a heck of a buy.

    Dated? The current Dodge Charger has been around a few years longer and still selling strong. Yeah, I kinda wished Ford had done a top to bottom rethink of the Taurus for 2016 but it's still a good looking car to me. The SHO makes the Taurus a sedan that never needs an apology. Once you've experienced that speed and as a driver or a passenger -- a stunned passenger -- you never think about dated this and dated that again.

    • @bernardturner8103
      @bernardturner8103 6 років тому +3

      So very true. Every time someone who rides in my SHO they are blown away, the first thing they say is what kind of care is this? I had no idea a Taurus could do this damn!

    • @martindennis5116
      @martindennis5116 6 років тому

      Bernard Turner that never gets old, does it? LOL. That's why I volunteer to be the designated driver on a road trip. First off, I wouldn't want to endure a 200 mile trip in ANY other car but my Taurus, but I really like surprising car snobs who think Honda and Toyota can do no wrong. We stopped at a gas station about 1 hour into the trip -- beautiful summer evening -- and nobody wanted to get out and stretch. That's a sincere compliment.

      Actually the all-new Taurus has been on sale in China and several other countries for about 2 years now. Kinda wonder why they aren’t selling it in the US yet.

    • @martindennis5116
      @martindennis5116 6 років тому

      Leslie White Because the American market for full sized sedans is pretty dead. The Chinese version of the Taurus is actually longer than the current Taurus.

    • @Andrew_182
      @Andrew_182 6 років тому +1

      Leslie White
      Like Martin said, the fullsize sedan market in the US is dead. It doesn't make financial sense for them to import the Chinese Taurus. It's only been kept around as long as it has due to fleet sales, but with more and more police departments moving to the Explorer based Police Interceptor Utility, it is not long for this world. It will be gone by 2020 with the Flex when they kill off the D3 platform and redesign the Explorer.

    never used to like ford until i got used 2008 Taurus limited. It drives so damn good, exceptional handling, u name the feature and it has it and that too for 2008 model. drives very smooth.Probably largest legroom I have ever seen in any sedan and that too with biggest trunk space. I underestimated ford but not anymore. Loving my vehicle.

    I will always drive a Taurus my first car was a 2001 Ford Taurus SE then I picked up a 2002 Ford Taurus at 94,000 miles and have been loving it since the start. Great 300,000 mile cars the 00’s models. Wanting to upgrade to a 2019 SHO version eventually. Too bad they are being discontinued.

    I have a strange love for the Ford Taurus. all of them, they have a great history and also always have been really reliable. myself has 2, a 99 and 07 both Vulcans. not very powerful but reliable as hell. and I think the current Taurus is by no means outdated. I love how it has a bigger more muscle look over sporty. I think some minor touches and a 10 speed auto and maybe get some more power out of the SHO and fix the pricing and I think the Taurus will continue to sell.

    Great review of the Ford Taurus SHO. I had almost forgotten this car existed until I looked it up today, still very attractive despite its nearly 10 year old design. Over 350 horsepower on tap. Roomy interior. My full-size choice would still be the Chrysler 300C Hemi, but the Taurus SHO is still green eyes.
    The money is in SUVs and trucks for the moment, but with gas slowly creeping up to beyond $3 a gallon, Ford may find out that they have shot themselves in the foot by discontinuing their sedan line if they choose to continue on with those plans. Let's see if FoMoCo plays it smart.

  • @aeiq1219

    Nice!!!...I have always been a fan of the Taurus, still driving my 2006 with 181,000 miles. I'm torn about upgrading to a younger model, like this one, but my car has been a good car so far, no major repairs just average maintenance. Maybe I just keep it until it no longer makes financial sense....but, the SHO sure looks nice.

      aeiq1219 oh I know, I love em. besides Taurus always being durable and reliable they both have Vulcan engines. they may be underpowered (145-155hp) but damn those engines will just keep going and are hard to kill

    • @aeiq1219
      @aeiq1219 6 років тому +1

      You know, I never knew that. I always thought the engine produce 180 hp. Anyway, it gets to 80 to 85mph(my cruising speed...cough, cough) very quickly on the highway. the engines runs smooth after 181,000 miles, mostly highway.

    • @iavagabond124
      @iavagabond124 6 років тому

      aeiq1219 there is another engine option called the Duratec which has 200-205hp if your car has a sticker on the fender that says 24V DOHC it's a Duratec You have. Duratec is also a great engine that's super reliable but the Vulcan is still amazing

    Thanks for the great review. Very helpful because I'm pretty sure I'm going to lease a 2018 SHO. The other sedan I've been considering is the Chevy Impala which is more spacious and better looking (imo) but of course can't match the performance of the SHO, even with the sports trim. I also researched the Chrysler 300c with the V8 but it's priced out of my league. You're right that the remaining American full sized cars are dinosaurs. Ford has now discontinued the Taurus to focus on where the money is - trucks and suvs,

    Ford needed to market and price this against the Germans like the Kia Stinger GT was. Despite the uninspired exteriors I think the Taurus SHO’s and Chevy’s SS should have commanded more market share, considering the sheer ubiquity of BMW’s 3 series and Audi’s A4

  • @MrHenny513

    No lie, your commentary was spot on. Yes, the SHO is out dated and the '18 is no different than the '14 (which is the one I have). Ford is doing away with making sedans in the American market. But, as you said, they (Ford) are going to the small SUV and large SUV market. Good review.

    I've been driving a 2000 Mazda 626 for a few years now was the family car but it became mine when my parents got the brand new Ford Edge a few years ago I got it when it only had about 80,000 miles on it now it has about a hundred and thirty since I have to work out of City it's been a good car to me not going to lie and I do have a bit of an emotional attachment to it but I have been looking to upgrade now that I'm working and I've saved up a little money I decided I wanted to get a Ford style sedan which pretty much limited me to either the focus, Fusion, Fiesta, or the Taurus and I got to admit the Taurus seems like it would be an awesome car to drive

      Looking at the alcantara on the wheel that's a SHO PP with the better gear ratio and the minor weight reductions. After putting in Sport, find the hidden TC button and hold button and break for 5 seconds. Fully disables advacedtrac which makes it noticeably even more fun. Only possible on the rarer SHO PP.

    Great review, and I gave it a like, but you were off saying these cars do 0-60 in 5.5-6 seconds. They consistently do 0-60 in the low 5 second range... 5.1-5.2 seconds. Other than that, I really enjoyed the video. Thanks for making it 👍

    I have no idea why GM will not compete with this via the Impala, nor compete with the Fusion Sport via the Malibu, but it's probably too late with these sedans being discontinued soon.

      Johnny Skies I'm too biased. The SHO is the only choice. It's just personal taste but there is not a better looking or bigger bang for the buck out there. It's not just the speed, it's the ride quality. I have no dread of the long road trip any more. I can't see why I would want something else.

      I went with the Taurus because I am old school and like large ( by today's standards) vehicles. I do a lot of highway, long distance driving and the Taurus is bank vault quiet and rides very well. Performance is effortless, fuel economy is not bad considering the weight and power of the car. Older designs also tend to be more reliable than ones that switch every couple years. I've had 54,000 trouble-free miles, not even a squeak or rattle is present. My only minor complaints are the interior center stack. It takes up a lot of usable space and visibility is not the best. If I were you, take both out for a LONG drive and see which you like the best.

      If you're comparing the SHO vs the Fusion Sport, the SHO wins in about every category. I was honestly disappointed in the Sport. Thought it might be the replacement for the SHO, but the way they have the car geared makes it slower stock to stock and mod to mod.

    Fantastic Car. But when they made the seats smaller after 2013 I believe it took away the comforts of everyday driving. Great car.. pick one up. But be warned with the newer models. Seats don't provide support like the 2010 2013 models.

    Love my 2013 Taurus SEL. This 2018 SHO looks good, but those 'flower power' wheels have got to go. I'd like to see the SHO grille on all future Taurus models . I'd buy the Limited version next time, don't need AWD or the horsepower of the SHO.

    Has anyone figured out the target demographic for this car? The Limited seems to be the most popular trim level. I see mostly well-dressed late 30s - 40s men in them. But you might see anybody in one. I was at a car wash and saw a 20 something in a sinister black SHO. He had a baby seat in the back but he told me it was an inside joke for when he took it racing.

    • @gianmariavolonte4315
      @gianmariavolonte4315 6 років тому

      Most people that I see drive them are like myself. 40's-50's something average joes. Around my part, the SEL seems to be the most common. However, when a dealer gets and SHO on the lot, it's sold within days. I don't know who buys them. I honestly can count on one hand how many 6th gen SHO's I have seen on the road.

    That car is absolutely beautiful 😍😍 I love that color! I think the car only shows it's age on the infotainment system, other than that it still looks brand new. This guy makes it sound like this car has been around for 40 years, GUY this body style is only what, 8 years old? Not even close to "showing it's age". I disagree completely.

    Does anybody know why Ford had Ford Australia design and develop a new Ford Taurus for production in China but has not introduced it into the USA. In China it is also named the Taurus. Same size vehicle but a new design.
    Ford has stopped production in Australia but still retains its about 1,500 design staff in Melbourne Australia that work on new designs for Ford for production around the world. Are they getting ready to stop production in the USA. It will have more of a European influence I assume. We never saw it in Australia. It is not going to be sold in Australia to replace the Australian Falcon. Same size.
    Very confusing to me. Could they simply be allowing Ford China to sort out all production bugs before it is sold to the world?

    You know something, NOTHING ever made by man is and will be perfect, nothing. No car, again no car is perfect, and not all of us can always afford what we want when we want it. We can never all like the same thing, as one man's meat is another's poison. I do agree that the Taurus would've been better with good upgrades but do you know that some upgrades can never be as good as the old? The Taurus pretty much has almost everything the way I would've wanted, it's not perfect. I know someone else want the Chrysler 300, another the Dodge, and the other the Impala. The Taurus is my car out of them all, I could say it was made for me 🙂,

    • @Andrew_182
      @Andrew_182 6 років тому +1

      The new version is referred to as the "SHOW" the older versions were "S-H-O". If you look at the badging you can see they no longer have the periods separating the letters and in all advertising from Ford where it's said they call them "shows" now. But realistically its whichever way you want.

    Ford needs to change its emblem because it looks old and outdated plus the interior on this looks similar to the younger models. I think what will make that center console look good would be a Tesla size touchscreen stereo.
    The vehicle does look nice overall....on the outside

  • @nanba25

    Too bad the sound becomes awful after 10 mn or so, and the camera position makes the view onto the road itself very painful…
    The size of the speed dial is by far too small, this part of the dashboard, over the wheel, is so outdated, like you say. Pity there is little choice for inside colors (seats) : a light beige or cream makes your car look much spacier than it is with light colors , makers should offer this more often. The burgundy car body paint looks great, indeed
