Because rn they can both one or two shots most chaff in the game, yet the crossbow has a higher ROF. The shrapnel on the Eruptor seems to do the same thing that the crossbow explosive damage does, yet it flies straight into the air.
I think since they added the shrapnel back, you can one shot devastators to the crotch/waist since it travels upward. Assault rifles are better against automatons. Very ammo efficient and can snipe devastator heads without worring about accuracy. Only issue is that medium armor pen is required for difficulty 8 and above to deal with the striders which are annoying to deal with.

You'll miss a few bursts, but, it's not like that doesn't happen with other weapons too (how many invisible hit-boxes are there...) The legit weakness of the blitzer is it's inability to cover a teammate when an inevitable hunter gets past (or around) the net. Zapping teammates is funny, once... I usually pair it with a decent pistol (eg revolver) for range/precision and impact grenades, for the times you need to bust the armoured bugs quicker than the blitzer will deal with them (or for spewers, they suck)
So I’m terrible at balancing ideas but I’d really like my old Slugger back. It being a slug only pump action should be enough of a drawback to keep it from being insanely top tier with its Medium Pen and stagger. Obviously I dont want it to be like a mini Railgun but being able to fill a niche of headshotting Hives / Broods / B.Spewers with your primary that isn’t the DCS seems appropriate.
It was insane to me why the slugger got nerfed in the first place. It was always just a high ranking B tier weapon at its best. Even after they buffed it again they couldn't help themselves and made it inaccurate past like 40m. Probably because to quote the devs "Isn't it weird that the best marksman rifle in the game is a shotgun?" No, no it isn't if you know even the slightest bit about how guns work and what a shotgun slug is.
@@Deadsnake989 It's especially silly now that the marksman rifles have been buffed and are actually good. It was only ever "the best marksman rifle" because the actual marksman rifles were garbage. The Slugger would be just fine with having perfect accuracy, since although it would technically deal more damage than the DCS, it would have a lower rate of fire, worse falloff, and no magnified scope.

Armour across the board has had a reduction to its padding, it should also all give an increase to movement speed. Add 15 speed and a bit less stamina drain to every set of armour in the game. The primary thing people complain about when discussing the latest change to how much damage we take, is how slow it is, and that no longer being a decent trade off for the survivability. I get that they want the whole armour means nothing trope from starship troopers and the a-typical bad guys from sci fi like stormtroopers. They say here's some heavy armour and you go in against someone with a lightsaber. I get it. But you can't have that in a game that's also supposed to have balance and things like that to be fun otherwise you're basically saying ok so it doesn't matter what armour you have on? I dunno why they made this change anyway, I'm seeing so many people die like 10x in a row and ragequit now. I wish the vision of the game and overall design philosophy didn't change week to week on this it's a headache to keep up with. One week it takes 3 hits to kill us and the next 2, then the next 3 again, then 2, let us settle with something, please. At any rate, if they increase the movement speed of everyone now that we're squishier, I think that'd be the right move. What happened to not nerfing us and instead just adding new enemies and stuff
The annoying part is that if they really want everyone to be squishy, they could just commit to that and do something else interesting with the armor class system instead. For example, heavier armor sets could have multiple perks (e.g. 1 for Light, 2 for Medium, 3 for Heavy), and/or carry more reserve ammo/stims/grenades.
@@BackwardsPancake Yeah armor needs a full rework, should also have set bonuses, or just separate helmet perks and cape perks. Another Jar-5 downside is that the projectiles have very slow travel speed. I don’t know if there is a gun that has a slower projectile. Combined with no splash damage and its terrible handling, you will STRUGGLE to ever hit a target at distance moving laterally to you. A good comparison for a weapon that does the same job is the scorcher. It has a faster projectile, splash, but less damage. Similar ammo, idk which has less or more.
Jar-5's damage and stagger can't entirely cover its no Scope, bad handling, and slow bullet speed. What is the point of great damage if it is hard to deliver it
@@frencerenniermendoza5047 skill issue. Unironically. The Jar-5 CAN do well. It is situationally difficult. If you're good with the gun, it does very well. Certain people prefer the consistency of hitscan. I usually run the Jar-5 against bots. You very rarely have to worry about hitting fast strafers, as most enemies run towards you. Also, no splash. That's the point. It's distinct without being obviously better or worse. I like it.
@OhDough What if the Fire Armor just got buffed to increase the duration of exposure to fire before catching on fire. Right now, it's (and I may be wrong here). If you take fire damage, you catch on fire. But they could easily enough make it so you could take 2 or 3 tics of fire damage before lighting ablaze. I think it would make the armor extra viable and wouldn't change what's already there just add that secondary effect. "Takes longer to catch on fire." Simple.
Bruh that is too much fucking work for Arrowhead's slow ass. Just have it make you immune to catching fire completely. That's not even that good of a perk in most situations, especially on the bot front.

Imagine if they added exiled stalkers, they would be just like normal stalkers but they use the old invisible model and their arms break way easier. Instead of spawning from lairs they would be static spawns and come in breaches. That way there can be stalkers in breaches like some people ask for without it being as oppressive as it could be. It would also prevent people from mistakenly lookinng for a lair where there is none and would preserve the difficulty and danger of leaving a lair alive I imagine they would be scarred with ripped wings and the white parts would be slightly brown.
What I think is craziest about this developer is the internal battles and struggles going on. They take feedback from us, then make changes based on that. But when the patch comes out, it's like someone on the inside who hates us argued against everything and put in counter balances to the things we asked for. None of these counter balances are based on any kind of feedback. The act of internally counterbalancing positive changes made based on feedback is traitorous. It shows that they do not trust our feedback at all, and do not trust in the changes they make based on it, but still want to put on a face of a company that aims to please its customers. It's the number one thing I think is holding this game back from being great, too, because when they make so many changes to so many things, they make the game very complex to work with. Because something they changed to counter balance what they changed based on feedback, has a side effect of breaking this, or removing a gameplay feature, or making something useless or OP. Every time they do something like this, they shift the meta around a bit, sometimes in really foolish ways, like recently changing the TTK on players pretty much forces everyone to always take the vitality enhancement. As if it wasn't a kind of meta pick to begin with. It's even more cemented. The other ones are even more useless in comparison. A problem exacerbated, a part of the game complexified and thrown out of balance, with need to be worked on by someone later, and why? Because they wanted to 'make spike damage more manageable'? By ultimately making it LESS manageable because their internal counterbalance completely destroyed any hope of making it more manageable? These devs are kinda dumb. They need someone based in the office who will call out ridiculous ideas.
Blitzer kinda has the same trick as the Arc Thrower. You aim towards a certain direction to make it "curve" to what you actually wanna hit. For example, aiming at the center of a Strider will make it hit the front plate, but if aim at the ground, it will hit between the legs and actually kill it. Same with a Charger with its leg armor blown off. It also has an optimum range where it can consistently one shot commanders and other annoying enemies.
You mean, you didn't take the Blitzer with you when you went on vacation?!? WHAT KIND OF BLITZERSTAN do you profess to be!!!? hahaha No, but, the Blitzer does rock

The base liberator owns even on Super Helldive if you can actually aim. I love the liberator carbine too. They are great weapons. This channel is more about being brain-dead than enjoying the game.
They do need to buff armor. Heavy needs to survive 6 hits with a general buff to reduce explosive and bile damage. Medium needs a stamina buff with a little bit more armor 4 hits till death. Light armor could use a speed buff and keep it the same with armor. Two hit kill sounds fair for light armor.
Once they drop the next wave of weapon buffs (let us see wtf happens to the Purifier) it would be cool to see you re-evaluate each warbond again, it could be by value/cost, or number of quality items in it, maybe recommend, in a game progression sense, which ones to unlock first with a personal take as to why, just to help out returning or brand new players.
everyone has been saying the Blitzer is OP for so long but i have just never seen the vision. its feels so sluggish and i never feel like im able to hold back the hordes. the inconsistency is just too much for me as well. sometimes im able to one tap hive guards and alpha commanders, other times it takes three point blank shots to kill a hunter. when im being chased by hundreds of bugs on helldive, i dont have the time to slowly shoot a hunter three times but if I don't then its just guaranteed death.
People saying the blitzer is OP are smoked out of their minds. It's one of my favorite guns, and has been since it came out. But it's "good" definitely not OP.
It's an odd little gun, that I'll agree with. Consistency with it builds over time of using it (you learn more of what to expect in a given situation). The key factor to its inconsistency is it shoots out 5(6?) separate arcs, which each tracks separately and can be hard to see. Not all of them will land on the same target, some will hit a corpse (eg) while one/two hit a target. The more bugs in your firing arc, the more spread it will have. If there's only 1 bug, you'll tend to get all arcs on target. So you can 1-tap a lone brood commander head, or spray 5 hunters/Wilbers. Either way, it will stagger the targets and force them back. You use this and constant repositioning between shots, to herd them together or dodge the ones getting closer to you (and zap them first). It's by far the easiest weapon I've used to solo a bug-breach or patrols. It's not the quickest for TTK (at least on the armoured bugs, I often grenade them if time is pressing) but, it's excellent crowd control In any case, aim high, it has a 45-50 degree* target cone and aiming high seems to reduce the terrain interference. Move around to clear the corpse issues. * - it could be higher. I've had single arcs target out of screen horizontally (almost always hitting an unfortunate diver...) on occasion. Could be lag, could be automaton corruption in the targeting algorithms, hard to say But it's definitely NOT OP, just very solid.
@@MrVelociraptor75 yeah it's definitely not bad by any means, i just feel i have alot more success with it when im playing with friends. having someone spray the LMG while I'm using a high stagger weapon to keep the hordes back is a killer combo, I just struggle to use it too its maximum effectiveness solo. i find its just too much thinking to do on a split second basis and there are other guns that can fulfill that same crowd control purpose (Liberator Concussive, Slugger, Dominator, Crossbow, etc.) while requiring half the brain power. just doesnt really suit my play style i guess. never been the hugest shotgun person in general (dont get me wrong i love an awesome shotgun in a videogame but assault rifles and DMRs are always my preferred weapon class no matter what game im playing so its actually kinda disappointing all the rifles kinda suck lol) so having one that takes the range limits videogames love and the inconsistent spread to their extremes is just very unappealing to me. if i want a shotgun id much rather take the VERY consistent Cookout or Breaker.
Torcher with fire armor is awesome, just dive when you get lit on fire and you don’t need to stim. You could get lit on fire 4 times in a row and not need a stim.
DCS being more controllable and having a scope are real benefits, it does me no good to "one shot a devastator" if my optic can't do it at the range I'm at or the gun handles too badly. DCS also definitely has some stagger vs bots.
I’m Really looking forward to the Plas-101 Purifier buff! I throughly enjoy the Plasma weapons so getting another tool to add to the tool box sounds like music to my ears.
I used to run the Dominator a lot and would still switch to it but recently I've been using the regular Dominator and Adjudicator instead. Mostly so that I can be a little better at clearing chaff, and then I have a railgun and thermite grenades for everything else. Probably not as useful on higher difficulties though.

I am in love/hate realtionship with both crossbow and Jar5, but I am honestly happy that finally somebody said that handling of the dominator is nothing but atrocious.😅
I am upset that the scorcher didn’t make the list… it’s actually a pretty good weapon, decent mag size, decent mag count, has medium armor pen, short range explosion, it’s a solid weapon around the board and works great with the shield gen and jump pack backpacks
I want to tell all the fans about the eruptor. I was a fan of it myself, but now it is simply worse than the crossbow. Previously, it was better than the crossbow, since it had a bug that allowed it to speed up its rate of fire and only with it could you destroy large bases of automatons from a long distance, but after the rate of fire bug was fixed and HP was added to factories, it lost the point of use. The biggest advantage of the crossbow is its rate of fire, as well as the number of portable stores. the only AR that's worth taking anymore for either faction is the sickle. don't get me wrong i love the sickle, but i also like to play with normal ballistic weapons (sometimes, but once the Trident gets released, i will never touch another ballistic primary again (except for grenade pistol)). and the Blitzer is amazing at the war of attrition that the game has of needing ammo ALL THE DAMN TIME! but, the downside is when enemies are near bushes or object that they just destroyed (like boxes next to evac) the gun just refuses to hit ANYTHING. also, i really love comboing the crossbow with the stalwart, very fun in my opinion.
Eruptor is my favorite weapon and i wouldn't take crossbow over Eruptor ever bc imo crossbow feels like shit to use but i know crossbow is better than the eruptor
It’s cause they changed the shrapnel from medium pen to light pen. I remember one shotting bile and nursing spewers before the nerf, but that’s basically gone now so might as well use the crossbow
All of the assault rifles should basically be mini stalwarts with slightly less damage and ammo then just give them different characteristics (stagger/incendiary/regular ammo)
I like the scorcher alot, probably fave weapon of mine. If I could adjust it, I would add more ammo per mag and increase the explosion radius. It would be my perma weapon at that point.
i think what will save smgs and assault rifles will be the illuminate if they have energy shields where rate of fire weapons will take the shields down faster then single burst damage
I like the crossbow with the bugs but I just can't make it work as well as the punisher plasma with the bots. If I took an anti tank support weapon, then maybe I'd need the crossbow for devastators (because it's definitely better for them) but I usually take the Auto cannon or Anti material rifle so I can use those for devastators and hulks. It's just so easy to take out huge groups of light bots from a distance with the PP, whereas the crossbow is more difficult to land in the right place (especially if You're not in an elevated position).
The crossbow shouldn't be more powerful than the erupter, but it is. I used to think the crossbow was an eruptor lite, but now the eruptor is a crossbow with extra steps.
I don't know why I watched this because there is never and will never be a world where I pick anything besides the sickle. (I love infinite ammo too much)
dont forget the counter sniper is also hitscan. if you go from jar 5 to counter sniper you are trading the damage and stagger for hitscan, a scope and better handling and even with the trade in damage you still one shot kill all bots below a strider with a headshot so if you can aim you'll get way more one shot kills with the counter sniper with all 3 of the things you get helping you to land headshots but if you are panicking the jar will save you with the stagger PS not a larper and im not saying that counter sniper is better just that its easier to get headshots with it and headshots deal with most of the things you'll use it for but if you are not hitting headshots the jar is way better.
They had better not stop buffing the crap out of everything else now... sure we're all happy to have the fun back; but lets not sleep on the remaining stuffs... it NEEDS it.
Incendiary Breaker is imo still the best overall bug weapon if you like getting close. 240 dmg per shot 120 durable + 2,7s of fire which adds another 135 normal and Durable dmg is just very nice combined with the mag size fire rate and reload speed
Pretty shure that the BI has the highest dmg per mag and highest sustained dps of all primary weapons and even beats most support weapons in that regard with a theoretical max dmg per mag of an insane 9000 dmg (6120 durable) and a single target dps of 1250 (650 durable) (Your pretty much never going to reach that dmg per mag tho)
If you use the Eruptor/Grenade pistol combo you can hot swap to the pistol and fire another explosive round at your target, all while canceling the rechamber animation AND git rid of the aim delay on the Eruptor. The crossbow is already the best primary in the game. It doesn't need a buff. Instead, other primaries should be made just as good.
It does need a buff lol the amount of brute commanders and hive guards is insane.
It needs a buff but the other primaries should be buffed too. Especially assault rifles and smgs.
It’s the best weapon in the game, ONLY because the other weapons SUCK. Watch it get nerfed bc too many people are saying it’s “broken” and “doesn’t need any more buffs”.
@@TheRealName7 crossbow can already 2 tap (sometimes 1) hive guards, and 3 tap alpha commanders. And it can kill a group of them if they're close enough.
I’m sorry but the crossbow isn’t the best primary in the game. Maybe the most versatile since it can close holes but it’s not the best.
The knight SMG should shoot hellbombs
Only visible way to make it decent, or give it 200 round magazines
@landondobson3919 yes!
More realistically, I think the best and most realistic way to buff it would be to give it basically no recoil. It kicks way too hard for what's supposed to be a low-caliber SMG.
@@BackwardsPancake it really just needs more ammo, it get 0 use out of like 40 bullets
@@landondobson3919 I say that because on paper, the DPS is actually pretty remarkable. If you can wrestle the stream of bullets onto a weak spot, you can melt devastators and the backs of hulks really quickly.
Exploding crossbow now is better version of pre-update eruptor. Not to mention it's one handed weapon.
Props for saying all the weapons at the start of the video. Don't worry I watched the rest anyway.

@@TheBaron8134 sounds like something a wrong person would say how undemocratic. 😬
Sincerely, you are an awesome content creator. Huge props as well for leading with the 5 weapons out the gate. I appreciate your genuine takes on the game.
The devs saying armor is fine the way it is just sounds like they want to be lazy with it. Considering its the only stuff we can buy in the super store besides warbonds, it should at least be better perk wise

if this list was made in this games first month it would be considered trolling but absolutely agree about Crossbow being great.
Please make some content educating people on the galactic war. No one has any understanding of planetary decay rates or the defensive gambit. The galactic war is absolutely pointless until people stop letting Joel troll them, and for that to happen they need info on how it works.
The galactic war is mostly smoke and mirrors anyway. They will adjust the resistance/decay rates based on whether we're supposed to win or not.
Id like that too. Because i just check my personal mission then just go shoot somthing somewhere random.
@@BackwardsPancake this x 100. I'm not gonna care about something that's completely arbitrary. Let Joel have his fun and we'll have ours.
That kind of video is more Eravin's style. Dough doesn't really dive into the guts of the games code. He focuses more on how something feels in practice rather than the technical aspects of how something works.
@@BackwardsPancake he creates opportunities for us to advance. We don't take them. This happens all the time. It feels arbitrary because people don't know what they are doing. Yes, sometimes this means it would be better to ignore defense missions or pass on the MO entirely. But you need a third party app to know when that is the case.
What is the point of great damage if it is hard to deliver it
The crossbow has more velocity than the Jar 5. It's ridiculous
I like it.
Crazy that the AMR has seemingly better handling than the Jar-5

@SuperCatacata Sorry I can't tell if you're trolling or not haha
It's probably not that much work at all lol both seem like relatively simple script adjustments
Feels a bit more interesting than just being immune to fire imo
@@chandlermccoy1813 It would be fine if it's immunity to the fire status effect, and not all fire damage.
So you would still die if you stand directly in a fire tornado or flamethrower stream, but you can't get the damage-over-time afterburn effect.
@@BackwardsPancake Yes! That would make a LOT of sense "realistically" too. A the suit would be fire resistant, so not-flammable, but the squishy being inside would still be affected by the heat and flame after a bit
@BackwardsPancake would make you totally 100% immune to catching of fire from any bugs. Maybe, that would be a pretty massive buff to the flame weapons. You could get right in a hordes face and torch it without that much risk
Current crossbow is goated. Nothing puts a smile on my face more than landing on a bio spewer map with that thing.
It would also prevent people from mistakenly lookinng for a lair where there is none and would preserve the difficulty and danger of leaving a lair alive
I imagine they would be scarred with ripped wings and the white parts would be slightly brown.
After I came back when they reversed the nerfs, I haven’t put down the Blitzer👌
You mean, you didn't take the Blitzer with you when you went on vacation?!? WHAT KIND OF BLITZERSTAN do you profess to be!!!? hahaha

True, even the way it sounds when firing is awesome
I've been rocking punisher plasma for so long I'm excited to finally use the crossbow! Maybe with ballistic shield 😁
The main thing I noticed is that crossbow is worse than plasma at close range because the explosion is bigger, but, on the other hand, there is no need for the grenade pistol. Old grenade pistol habits die hard, though.
@@annodomini2012 I was also reluctant to give up the grenade pistol but man the dagger feels so good to have for clearing out chaff and emergency kills on stuff like close warriors and hunters.

it's not a top 5 on the terminids, but the regular Liberator is slept on. against jumpers, hunters, scavengers and warriors it is phenomenal at a surprising distance with really good handling and feedback. but yeah, against everything else you will want something else.

joke aside the regular liberator feels alot better but is still lacking.
@@beardmaster6208 It feels much better on hot planets in particular, where it gets extra firing speed. Goes for it, the other ARs, and the SMGs too. I wish they'd just speed them up permanently.
It's slept on because it's a more ideal pillow than a weapon.
on dif 5 yeah sure maybe buddy
You came to the wrong channel to post this kind of opinion. OhDough is a shitter and a grown iPad kid and his audience are Hellwhiners and iPad kids. The base liberator owns even on Super Helldive if you can actually aim. I love the liberator carbine too. They are great weapons.
This channel is more about being brain-dead than enjoying the game.
Another Blitzer con: hunters can tank a shot, cover the distance and go ham on you while getting past the effective range
It's the same for me, it's definitely good but it's hurt me alot more then anything
It's not the quickest for TTK (at least on the armoured bugs, I often grenade them if time is pressing) but, it's excellent crowd control
In any case, aim high, it has a 45-50 degree* target cone and aiming high seems to reduce the terrain interference. Move around to clear the corpse issues.
* - it could be higher. I've had single arcs target out of screen horizontally (almost always hitting an unfortunate diver...) on occasion. Could be lag, could be automaton corruption in the targeting algorithms, hard to say
But it's definitely NOT OP, just very solid.
Big respect for getting straight to the point at the start of the video rather than dragging it out 🫡

i knew crossbow was amazing when i started using more often after the patch, it kills every small to medium enemy, has good handling and great accuracy and small aoe damage that can kill groups of enemies easily with 1 well place crossbow shot
i straight up do not understand why they hate the smg and ars so much that they can never be good at killing hordes as guns designed to chill multiple enemies

Before the cookout was released I always got hit by stalkers. Now they can’t get close to me. I love the cookout
I use the Ajudicator on bugs. I understand it doesn't have a lot of ammo however the medium armor penetration just makes it fun to use
Counter sniper? I feel like this patch gave the counter sniper a big boost. Taking out rocket striders in 3 shots is really helpful.
the only AR that's worth taking anymore for either faction is the sickle. don't get me wrong i love the sickle, but i also like to play with normal ballistic weapons (sometimes, but once the Trident gets released, i will never touch another ballistic primary again (except for grenade pistol)). and the Blitzer is amazing at the war of attrition that the game has of needing ammo ALL THE DAMN TIME! but, the downside is when enemies are near bushes or object that they just destroyed (like boxes next to evac) the gun just refuses to hit ANYTHING. also, i really love comboing the crossbow with the stalwart, very fun in my opinion.
The crossbow can't escape the coming nerf.
i dont think the crossbow needs another buff (they need to focus in other weapons) just fix that damn awfull hit box for the dead automatons.

i think what will save smgs and assault rifles will be the illuminate if they have energy shields where rate of fire weapons will take the shields down faster then single burst damage
Nice video mate
They need to add those two mags back to the incendiary breaker…
I feel like DCS should be part of this after the latest buff, the durable damage buff goes hard
Eruptor has a better scope although the benefit of this is somewhat negated by its maximum range
Just started using a crossbow/railgun combo and I love it 👌🏼
i found the crossbow explosion really inconsistent and frustrating. namely it killing me but at the same time not staggering enemies.
Chad for telling us right at the beginning

You call it Dixie Cup durability, I call it Brittle Bone Disease
For me, it's the Liberator.
I point it at things, those things die. Simple as.
An eruptor can 3 shot any giant shroom nest.
The dominator oddly feels like a rifle and not a shotgun. I can snipe bots from ungodly distance with it and still cause stagger.
Maybe because is not a shotgun
I don't know why I watched this because there is never and will never be a world where I pick anything besides the sickle. (I love infinite ammo too much)
dont forget the counter sniper is also hitscan. if you go from jar 5 to counter sniper you are trading the damage and stagger for hitscan, a scope and better handling and even with the trade in damage you still one shot kill all bots below a strider with a headshot so if you can aim you'll get way more one shot kills with the counter sniper with all 3 of the things you get helping you to land headshots but if you are panicking the jar will save you with the stagger
PS not a larper and im not saying that counter sniper is better just that its easier to get headshots with it and headshots deal with most of the things you'll use it for but if you are not hitting headshots the jar is way better.
"Medium and Shmedium enemies...." lmfao. Im using that now!
I think counter sniper is better than the jar for bots because you don't need specific armor
You just gotta make shure to always reload with 1 bullet left to cut the reload animation down so less than like 2seconds which feels really good.
Pretty shure that the BI has the highest dmg per mag and highest sustained dps of all primary weapons and even beats most support weapons in that regard with a theoretical max dmg per mag of an insane 9000 dmg (6120 durable) and a single target dps of 1250 (650 durable)
(Your pretty much never going to reach that dmg per mag tho)
Eruptor was released with such great breakpoints, and it still doesnt feel as good as it used to..
Yes! All i needed to know are the top tier ones. Ain't tryna learn if a gat is low B or high C THANKS
Arc weapons are instant f tier because people keep fucking team killing with them
Good takes on the state of the game as usual.
btw barefoot shoes are awesome. I'm never going back.
On my preference I like more the incendiary breaker than the cook out.
Eruptor would be better if instead of giving it shrapnel they just increased the AP to 5 or 6.
If you use the Eruptor/Grenade pistol combo you can hot swap to the pistol and fire another explosive round at your target, all while canceling the rechamber animation AND git rid of the aim delay on the Eruptor. It allows for 3 explosive shots, all faster than the crossbow and does a LOT more damage.
