I´ve seen dozens of singers like Angelina Jordan. They pop up in certain talent shows every now and then. Maybe talented singers. Grace is incomparable and unparalleled. She writes her own songs, she is a really brilliant live performer, every time she does a cover, it´s better than the original. Her voice is hauntingly beautiful and unique. In my view, nothing comes close to her, no new "talent" which only can sing other peoples songs nor industry manufactured pop stars or hyped new teen wonders, which gett ripped off by the industry and are forgotten in a year. She maybe won´t have the commercial success of said singers, but she is the real deal and will be influential to music.
I don't know how you can smile, listening to that song. I cry every time I hear it. The rumor is that she wrote it in 30 minutes at the tail end of a recording session at the age of thirteen. She will turn 16 on January 15, 2020. I love Grace's voice but it is her writing that puts her at the top of my list. For my taste, she is without peer.

She turned 15 a month ago and released a new single "Stray" last Friday. She's been kept from releasing new material for almost a year due to touring - opening for Imagine Dragons (!), and filming the adaptation of Jerry Spinelli's "Stargirl" in the leading role. You had the typical reaction that someone has who hasn't kept up with Grace since AGT, pleasantly surprised as to how much she has grown, physically, creatively, and vocally. You had a great reaction, I hope you delve further into both her old material and her new.

Grace was 14 when she made this appearance. One of tomorrow's superstars. Don't know if it will be in pop, folk, or jazz, maybe all three, but she will be one of the greats.

Any cover she does is generally considered better than the original. This is a powerful song for anyone to write and you add her voice to it and, well you heard. A truly sublime songwriter rivals writers 3 times her age. her melodies and bridges are iconic in structure . simple but multilayered in meaning. Really quite profound. And this child can project her essence into any song and make it one of a kind. All this at 15 years of age. Grace is a true definition of music itself. What blows my mind is that Grace is so amazing, but her songs aren't heard on any radio stations. Windex did a commercial with " Beautiful Thing " and it was one of the best music videos that I have ever seen. Why doesn't she get more exposure?
No comparison whatsoever to the karaoke cover singers and even many of the inexplicably popular pop tarts who couldn't write a song of their own if their lives depended on it. For example, it took ten (10) people to crank out that dirge Havana. DKCM just took Grace. And you're correct in that her voice is getting more incredible with every new song. This is the difference between a real artist who creates original work and someone else relying on style over substance.

Yeah, the way Grace's live stage shows seem to be trending now, it would be a little out of place for her to perform this. Its too bad. This song is just not going to get heard all that much then. She wants to keep things hopping though so that she can dance and have the maximum amount of fun on stage. Songs like this one can kill the momentum at a concert where everyone just wants to have a good time. Such is reality :( Story - I was at a Crosby Stills and Nash concert once and mid concert they slowed it down to sing "Guenevierre", one of their greatest songs ever. Some in the audience though were not pleased, and one guy yelled "Rock and Roll" all through the song from high up in the stands. It got so bad that at one point, Crosby stopped singing and told him to "Shut the F*ck up"! But yeah, thats the danger in slowing it down during a great concert where everyone just wants to boogy. Every artist knows this.

Yes, I believe it's her song. I don't know if she collaborated with another songwriter this time. She's doing that more. I believe she's 15 now. Her songwriting and singing skills have matured in just a short time. So many young girls like her are doing just great in music - Allie Sherlock and Angelina Jordan come to mind. They're all amazing, but, to me, Angelina's gifts are super rare and special.
