- Foy Vance covers the Prince classic, “Purple Rain” live in Greenpoint, Brooklyn recording studio The End. Buzzsessions are performance music videos produced by The Wild Honey Pie. With each new episode, we capture footage of our favorite bands as they record alternate studio quality versions of their songs.
Simple and classic is a formula that just works, and when we brought Northern Irish singer-songwriter Foy Vance into The End Studios in Brooklyn to record, he more than delivered. In honor of the recently deceased legend, Vance performed a heartfelt acoustic rendition of the Prince classic “Purple Rain,” along with his gorgeous original “She Burns.” Do not let the killer mustache distract you, this guy is all about the music.

Purple rain covers usually lack that.. thing, that feel behind the lyrics only special people understand. This one has that feel as it should. It is the first cover since the original I can stomach. AMAZING!! I can only listen to music that takes me on an emotion ride with the artists, and this is one hell of a ride.

My father passed away a week ago. He was not listen to this song. I not sure he ever heard about the Prince and all his songs. . But to me somehow this song appeared in my mind and becomes kinda dedication to my father. God bless you Bernie!

My 3 year old boy loves this song since he was 2. He can now sing most of it. When he was fussing I would play it and dance with him. That would calm him down. Now he asks for it by name.
Prince would be proud of your rendition, not many can do this song and create the feeling it gives when sung by Prince himself!

Foy Vance isn't country. He's Irish folk.
Foy Vance belongs in the part of those artists that gonna make you love a cover more than the original version.. Perfectly performed, with emotion, the secret ingredient behind success. Keep it up Foy !!

Heard him sing rhis live at castlefield in Manchester opening for James bay. Have been a fan ever since and followed Foy around when I have been able to. An amazing voice and an exceptionally nice guy with a big talent 😀
