Lost my job. Got divorced. Chronic back pain. This song helps me when I'm feeling down about myself. I gotta keep moving. Things will turn up for me I hope.
Update: a few months after writing this comment I made a commitment to myself that I was gonna get better. I started to get out of bed early and go for runs. Changed my diet and quit all substances. Took care of my health first and now since then. I've started a new job that I love and recieved a 2-3k guitar from an friend. For the first time in 5 years my back is starting to heal. I honestly can't thank you all enough for your support and kind words. Thank you kyle for giving me that push that I needed. I love you all. Thank you.
Final update.
Bought a house. Got my life back on track. I love you all. It all worked out. I can't believe I pulled myself out of that darkness. Never give up on yourselves. You're stronger than you think. It just takes patience, hard work and time.

He sings this with such raw emotion.
It’s good but Frank is still number one
Idk how more people havent mentioned this but Your cover is just so much more optimistic, it fills you with a want to continue on, while Sinatra's was more bleak, equally graceful and beautiful but somber and I love how it simply is
I kinda thought that they were both optimistic but that might be my own predisposition.

@@henrypaleveda7760 imo the song is better described as defiant and resilient than optimistic. I mean the closing line is basically "if things don't get better in the next year or so I'm gonna curl up and die"
the whole point of the song (again imo) is that the world is a harsh and unforgiving place, and there's no guarantee at all that things will work out. The important thing is to "pick (your)self up and get back in the race" because doing so is in itself fulfilling regardless of the outcome.
This is gonna be long but the whole song reminds me of Teddy Roosevelt's famous "arena" quote:
