Art here from Los Angles. I’ve become a fan of you gentlemen Martin. My favorite is your Toto medley, since I myself have a tribute to Toto here in LA.
Why is no one talking about the singer?! Killer voice, great phrasing, really great take on a song most people really don't do that well. Everything else was great too, just thought this should be said.
He has a good voice, and should fight the habit of engaging lines from low voice. It would be even better! Just think, after your breath, that your voice comes from over and land on the note.
The Martin Miller band is a great example of why, as a musician, you should learn as many songs in as many styles as possible. Never ever stop learning. FANTASTIC band.
The vocalist is excellent in that he knows the strengths and limits of his voice. He doesn't over reach, but stays where he is strong. That is a great skill that applies to many disciplines. Nice.
Martin, all the hours of late night practice, voice lessons, trying to figure out were the money was going to come from to put together studio time etc. has all payed off. I hope you know how appreciated you and the band, guest, and crew in the background have people who know the quality of music you are putting out. Thank you from one of the many who look forward to the next Video or lesson..The very best, George
Perfect example of 2 guys that can fly around the guitar neck but realize that sometimes less is more as long as it is done with soul and passion. Great job! Props to the entire band....
This is how a cover should be done. It respects the original intent of the song, while letting the style and talents of the individual performers shine through. There's not a weak link in this group - and I especially like the B3 filling out the soundscape. Please give us more!
I just love love love love love love the drummer in this band.As a drummer myself his groove and timing are something to be behold. As for the rest of the band they're just off the planet, masters in there own right.Keep blowing us away
It's so beautiful....I loooove these videos of the Martin Miller Band and their guests. It's pure pleasure to see how they master their instruments.....
This cover of 'Purple Rain' not only honors Prince's masterpiece, but reinvents it with heartbreaking intensity. Each note is charged with pure emotion, as if the performer were living every word. It is a version that captures you from the first chord and envelops you in a storm of feelings, reminding us why this song is timeless. Congratulations to the whole band
3:50, Mr. Mark Lettieri, best fucking solo, for my taste, that I have ever heard in the total history of time. Delivered so correctly, with that tone, those notes...OMG my soul has melted down🔥🔥love it ❤❤
Yes, fuckin brilliant. That screeching pre-bend pinch harmonic kills me everytime, even after the 100th listen. So intense, rarely used and excellently placed.
I’ve been watching this in my studio for a while but just tonight I listened on headphones. I was blown away before but through headphones I thought my head would explode! I’ve loaded the audio into ProTools and going forward will use it as a reference track. Although I mostly do acoustic sessions, every once and a while I get a rock band in here. Usually the guitarist is a shredder. With this track as a reference I can point out that you can play melodically while still shredding. And I love me some melodic playing! This track has it all. The musicianship is great, the vocals are great, the production (EQ, mixing etc.) is phenomenal…it all goes together seamlessly. One thing I especially liked was at the five minute mark, when the guitarists change solos, there is just enough separation in the mix that you can hear the handoff. I also love the buildup..,.the dynamics. On headphones I can hear subtleties that I miss on my JBL 4311s (I know, they’re old, but they still sound fantastic). But the mix sounds great on both the monitors and the cans. I can’t wait for the next rock group to come in here so I can show them how it can, and should, be done. I’d love to hear this in surround. I’d also love to hear it without the UA-cam processing. Kudos to all involved.
Everything sounds so goooood. Omg the bass is perfect and the guitar tones are immaculate. The organ sits perfectly in the mix and fuck do the drums sound so good. Amazing work sound guys!
Martin outstanding as always. Wonderful solo part. And the band of course great. But i never heard a strat solo with this phrasing and how Mr Lettieri build the complete solo ...i really had tears in my eyes and all the hairs on my arms stand up to heaven. What a magical musician. Thank you, thank you to the whole band and of course the marvelous vocal performance. Magic!
Mark is so f’n incredible , he is the real deal, genuine Rock star, everyone in the world should know his name, and know his playing, I can only Hope I can play with that much skill, feeling, and conviction one day .
Always a total pleasure to listen to and watch such a phenomenal group of musicians. Mark Lettieri’s contribution here is sublime, a masterclass in note choice, note articulation, technique and feel. Fantastic!
That was really moving. The guitars had different feels but both were just as emotional. Great job...wow hit me right in the gut listening to it, which shows me the soul in everyone's playing. Oh and shout out to that drummer, low key greatness there.
edster612 couldn’t agree more with all those points. I feel a lot of effort, respect and love for the song went into the guitar and drum performances. Purple rain and shine on you crazy diamond for me the only songs that are almost ethereal when performed well but rarely can anyone get close to the original. This collaboration have nailed both
@@movingtodefcon2 I was actually prepared to "not" like this cover. After hearing so many covers that fell so short. But Martin Miller & company treat their covers with class, and add their own touch.
My god that pinch harmonic by Mark at 4:09-4:10 is so nasty! Nobody can even get close to how he mastered that! Such an incredible group of musicians! 🔥🤘🏼

👏 I’m 70ish y.o. now and thought these guys did justice to a ‘classic’ 🌟 old song I’ve loved since Prince’s original based on the MANY covers I’ve heard over the years and that not all did. Everyone is awesome, but to tell the truth the voice of the singer in this song is just fantastic and perfect. It makes him my favourite. :)
When there are more cameraman than musicians... still a hell of a cover. Great job, as always!!
Excellent, guys!
Superb vocals!
Congratulations.
You reached the final.
I absolutely loved Prince and Purple Rain was my absolute favorite, I don't think I played this song since his passing, but you guys did an excellent job... brought a tear to my eyes, THANK YOU!
