Here is the backstory:
TRACTIONATOR® DESERT H/T is a tire that has raced on every continent for more than a decade. Riders all over the world rave about this tire's awesome traction and equally important long tread life with exceptional wear characteristics. This tire is capable of chasing down sport bikes in the twisties safely, but is most at home in desert like terrain with its 90% / 10% construction. 90% Dirt / 10% Street or 90% Hard Terrain / 10% Soft Terrain.
Designed to handle the deserts of Baja and Dakar, this tire excels at traverhard terrain, fast rocky fire trails, gravel roads and desert hard pack with sandy variations. Its unique tread design handles off camber sections, ruts, hard braking at extreme lean angles.
All Tractionator Desert H/Ts are intended for intermediate-hard terrain and rally use, and cross over into adventure use very well. They offer long wear life and excellent traction in varied terrain. Therefore they are like a special desert race tire without the expense.

I have a KTM 950 Super Enduro running a Desert HT rear and an Enduro ST front. In 10 years of offroading big bikes (before the SE I had an 800GS), I never felt so confident in the trails as I do now, having slapped these badboys on. You simply don't lose traction -- unless you want to... yes, the back tire drifts nicely as needed. Can't recommend these tires enough.
