Hi Gav, regarding AC Wild Gen - You don't need to have that connected to ground power - that is more of a maintenance function according to the FCOM - You just need to press the "AUX HYD Pump" pushbutton on the centre pedestal to the lower left of the power levers prior to engaging the prop brake. Also 19-20% is the maximum before introducing fuel, standard procedure would be to move the condition lever to FTR once NH was at 10% (if ITT below 100°C) or ITT divided by 10 for anything over upto a maximum of 200°C, for example if ITT is 120°C, you would move the condition lever to FTR at 12% NH. If the ITT doesn't drop below 200 while motoring then your engine is probably on fire! Hopefully I'm not being a KnowItAll! I've made a procedural checklist if you'd like to take a look: flightsim.to/file/53967/atr-42-72-600-full-procedural-checklist Safe flights 👋
Having recently got myself ATRs 42/72-600 I have been struggling with my Throttle Quadrant/ Condition Levers.I am on Xbox/Velocity One FMS.While I have configured my Throttles 1 and 2 to Joystick-Axis 1 and Joystick-Axis 5 (2nd lever on the throttle quadrant) to Condition Levers. However the throttles 1 and 2 do not move in tandem.Throttle 2 tends to lag.I am therefore not able to set those correctly in the EFB as well.Assigning buttons to Feathers Switch 1 and 2 works fine and I am able to shut down the aircraft.I have watched practically every video on the subject but hasn’t found the answer why the two throttle levers are not moving forward and back ward in harmony.Your guidance/assistance will be highly appreciated if you have the time.
Thanks for the great video. Just a quick note about the weather radar: it *does* work (at least on my system it does!!) ... but many people make the mistake of thinking WX detects/displays all clouds, whereas *it only detects those with rain*. To test this, set a weather preset to "Stormy" and see what happens!
OMG thank you... just started with this plane yesterday and ended up just starting the aircraft from the EFB due to not being able to figure out how to move the condition levers :D also spent far too much time searching for the solution on various forums!
Waypoints on the FMS - when entering your route and you use airways, do NOT manually enter the airway and endpoint. Where you have the blank entry for airway in your waypoint info field, just click the LSK next to the empty field. This will give you a LIST of all your airways, and simply select the airway. The SAME is done with your airway end point - just lick the LSK next to the empty field. This will avoid freezing FMS / repeating waypoints.
When doing fuel and weight. Use the MSFS Weight and Balance menu to adjust fuel and weight. Then import them in the FMS automatically using long clicks of the respective keys. This will then automatically input them into the EFB. But I have noticed that the first 31 kg of fuel shows up as part of the ZFW instead of fuel. So if you want to use SimBriefs ZFW and Block Fuel amounts you need to adjust accordingly. Add 31 kg to SimBrief's Block Fuel when entering the fuel amount into MSFS. Then subtract 31 kg from the SimBrief ZFW amount when entering that into MSFS as Payload. This will then import into the FMS showing the correct SimBrief amounts. Give or take 1 kg. This can be further adjusted in MSFS if you got OCD.
I really do appreciate your enthusiasm to help us to get some sense out of this aircraft due to the bugs. However, the release of this aircraft has been a disaster, using the simers as beta, no, Alpha, testers. (as was the release of MSFS) Thank you for the video.
Very appreciate of it, If we are flying for leg two or more. FM setting in TO mode while we take off, we can’t get power same like first take off, but when FM set to CLB after 600 ft the power increasing instead descreasing.
Why I can't start the engines a second time? At first time I use the normal starting procedure. Hotel mode or GPU, both works perfectly. But going to a second leg, neither engine 1 nor engine 2 starts again. I must load the Aircraft again and set up a new flight. Cold and dark or hotel mode or taxi state vom EFB do'n't work. This happens to me every time if I fumbling around with FMS and condition levers or switches. Often engines died after a few minutes with unknow reason, mayby ITT to hot or battery low or anything else Any advise for me?
I've not bothered mapping my condition levers to my throttle quadrant (or anything else). You are really only going to need to move them at start-up and shut-down and I've found they can be moved quite easily/reliably using the mouse scroll wheel.
hello nice review however I wonder something. mapping the fuel levers on a single axis doesn't make sense to me... simply because first of all you will need to go on hotel mode for engine number 2 while the number one won't be running until a later stage. when its mapped to a single axis that means both levers will move together which doesn't work on that case as you use hotel mode for engine number 2 to act as a APU and then later start the one.i truly didn't map the fuel lever at all as you need to only play with them for the start on the engines on the ground so much easier to use controller mouse and keep the axe for something else. just personal opinion ( and also don't need to get headaches with the cut off etc I mean that's starting & cutting engines procedure only)
Very nice of you to do this, but what is up with this aircraft?? What does prop feathering have to do with turbine fuel condition? MS delays great add-ons by 3P devs due to missing trivial accessibility features then they release a product that doesn’t work with Xbox controller and requires a ton of workarounds to kind of work okay with many other controllers. Terrible! 🤦♂️
Thanks for the video. I have a problem, when switching from ground power to the engine generators, I get low pressure warning in the hydrolicssystem (the blue section) . When I press the groundpower again, the sign disappears. How come?
Two issues I have: 1) Can't get any of the flight plan showing on the instruments, despite generating a 'from & to' (departure and arrival) before flight. It shows up on Navigraph, though. 2) The zoom-in and zoom-out functions don't work for the cockpit and external cameras. Both using the + and - on the keyboard or the assigned 7 & 8 buttons on my Honeycomb Alpha Yoke.
I pretty much have all this done already except for the camera views, because I rarely go into the cabin, that said one thing they need to add is a way to turn off the EFB, as it is way too bright when flying at night and it blocks part of the view to the left. To me this is one of the most egregious errors. Also, the Silver livery for the ATR 42 has the tail number mirrored on the right side of the empange, and to me that is even more egregious than the lack of EFB hideability.
One issue I have is that the difference between idle thrust and the lowest amount of thrust is too big. This makes descents a little tricky when trying to maintain a certain speed.
Good stuff, thanks. I'd like to know more about engine / thrust / power management across the different modes. I'm particularly struglling to avoid overspeed in CRZ and the aircraft's speed is all over the place in cruise requiring me to come out of Notch.
Not an ATR pilot, but as there is no auto thrust, you should I think leave the power lever in the white notch, but use the rotary dial to set the power to TO/CLB/CRZ respectively. When in descent, you have to monitor the power lever yourself to avoid overspeed.
@@Easyjetsimpilot yeah that’s the issue - I do try to leave it in Notch in cruise but it never holds the bug. Once I level off and set CRZ it just races away and goes into overspeed. :(
@@AdminVortex762hat has happened to me. I simply go manual on the throttles and reduce them to where speed is more within range. Also, keep the speed management mode select thing to Cruise.
Dear: I placed the ATR 72-600 at VGJR bay 1. Connected DC Ext Pwr. Batt on. In the Elec sys page I confirmed main batt volt 22v green. But after some time completing the cockpit prep, I find engines don't start. I checked the elec sys page, now shows main batt volt 3v only amber. Why this voltage is reducing? Thanks in advance for help. Regards, Haseen Ahmad.
A big issue I am having is not having full reverse thrust when landing. When I set full reverse post landing, I immediately get Caution and Warning lights due to low pressure in the hydraulics. So then this cascades into a worse situation because I lose NWS and brakes. When I switch to idle, the hydralics level out and the all warnings disappear. I am unsure if it is a glitch or lack of system knowledge. Edit: My throttles are set up and work fine in normal operation. When I set reverse thrust, it is activating, I just am limited to about 7-8%
Question specifically to how you are using the Airbus throttle quadrant to do the fuel control. At the reverse thrust end there is a virtual button which gets "pressed" when you move the throttle leaver all the way to maximum reverse thrust. Wouldn't it be easier to assign that button to the feather toggles? This way you would move the thrust leaver into reverse thrust and the fuel lever would automatically go into feather mode. I believe it should be button 16 for the right hand virtual button and button 12 for the left hand one. I haven't tried it out yet though.
@@Easyjetsimpilot Will try and let you know. Did you put a linear curve in for that axis? Just asking as the default curve is obviously completely designed to fit the indents of the A320 throttle quadrant which won't be of any use for this lever.
Nice vid, Hi Gav, I have been having a head banging issue, no matter what I do I cannot get the engine 1 to start after I have done the hotel start. It is the air bleed and nothing is turning it on. This is also in the ready to start up menu. Stuck in the air bleed fault mode. Could you kindly assist and show us what is the issue , greatly appreciated.
Greetings, it happens to me, what you explained about the engine conditioner, but with the flap lever, it stays stuck and does not allow itself to move, could you give me an idea to solve it? thank you so much . subscribed.
One question about the control: the pitch trim set by the A/P, in most cases up0.4, is causing the aircraft to automaticlly pitch up on approach after taking over the control by hand (on ATR42, it's then auto pitch down like a flare-law). Is it the case on real airfrafts? Or can I just manually trim it to a comfortable place. Thanks!
Hi! Thank you for your excellent videos. I have a question, when I set the trim to the required value (I do it with numpad num1 and num7, up and down respec) the value on the screen falls again to 0,0 by itself (Hyd on). I manage to put it in the required value using the trim manually, but then it doesn't hold it, it falls again to 0,0 according to the screen) Am I missing something? When pressing the take off config button obviously a warning acoustic alarm come out because of that! Thank you in advance! Congrats for your tutorial again, exceptional work!
