  • Change EVAP Purge Valve & Purge Hose 2017 Dodge Durango
I had engine error code P0455 & P0456, small and large leak detected.
Super easy fix if it’s just the Purge Valve. The Purge hose took a bit longer, but both are pretty straight forward.
Double check the part number for your year, make, and model.
    I used:
    EVAP PURGE VALVE: PV749
    PURGE HOSE: MOPAR 68189065AD
    Total cost for me ~$60

Hi, I have the same Durango as you 2018. Did you ever have an issue with a hissing coming from the dash when you kick on the AC? It sounds like freon moving in the lines. I have cold air. I was thinking of an expansion valve or may be low on AC gas? Do you have any issues like this? I have about 90k miles. Thanks

Instead of buying a new Mopar purge line, use an exacto blade and cut off the "shrink wrap" part of the plastic line. Then take about 2 inches of 15/32 PCV hose and connect both ends. Clear the code and you are done. My purge valve was fine so out of pocket cost was $1.19 for a foot of PCV hose.

So, with the cracked hose repaired, or better yet replaced, there was no need for you to change the Purge Valve sensor. It did what it's supposed to do. Warn you of a leak of fuel vapors. After you got the error code you should have visually inspected the Purge Valve and its components before buying the Purge Valve assembly. a lot of times it's an easy fix if you know where to look first.

This error just came up on my Durango and while getting pointed to the Purge Valve part as the culprit was pretty easy. I wasn’t able to find where the heck it was located.
Now I know! And also will check before buying said inexpensive part if the hose could be the real culprit. And now that I know how to tackle it all, it shouldn’t be more than a few hours to get this done.
By the way, did the Check Engine light reset itself or did you have to get it cleared?

    • @lulusuberville
      @lulusuberville  3 роки тому +3

Glad to be of help. The purge valve costs around $18 at autozone. I also changed it just in case there was some internal issue with it that I couldn’t see. I’d recommend doing it as an extra measure. Also, there was no engine light code that I could find to turn off the light, so it took about 2 days of driving around and the light turned off by itself. Didn’t keep track of the exact miles or mph I had to drive. But I’m a busy mom with a business so I drive a lot. Hope that helps! And good luck!!🍀

Always disconnect negative terminal first. 😉 Thanks for asking!

What were the symptoms prior, i was getting a musty scent (like fumes) in the cabin for a while dealer said was no problem then check engine light came on, brings up code for this part, I’ll change and update....did anyone else here experience the same symptoms? Frustrated.

Sorry for the late reply. No I didn’t not smell anything, it just came on one day. I hope yours is taken care of now.

Quick question.. I just replaced the purge valve and hose. Do I need to reset the computer or do anything else so the check engine light goes off? Please help!

Way to go!! I’m sure there’s a way to reset but I just drove around and it reset itself after a day or two. The system needs time to register that there is no leak. Hope that helps! 🙂

@@lulusuberville thank you for responding! Also, your video was super helpful for me and my uncle today as we replaced both parts. The grey T clip was really hard to remove but as soon as that came off it was easy from there. 😀 I no longer have that ugly check engine light on my dash 👏🏼
