ZZ Top: Waitin' for the Bus / Jesus Just Left Chicago (

- I always wished that these two songs were long enough to take up the whole first side of the LP...I've re-cut the 2006 remasters here nearly that long, up to 14:27. If you want to split them, do so at 9:28.500. I tried to clean up the break there with a bit of silence, without dropping the beat.
Technical & legal details: Audio from the remastered mp3 files, legally bought from Amazon-dot-de. Uploaded to UA-cam as non-re-compressed flac, any re-compression is from UA-cam. Editing and video compilation all done with freeware.
Not for commercial use, nor for sale, only to use whilst working out at the gym, as the original versions of these songs were just too damn short. I hope ZZ Top and their record label don't mind...I'll gladly delete the video on their request.
When they switch to Jesus just left Chicago total awesone
The BEST. Fucking Epic
@@Jarard-st4li EPIC!
You ALWAYS have to play these songs together to get that great transition
One of the best moments in rock.
saw them in 70'....Jacksonville coliseum....opening for Deep Purple..........jeans/cowboy shirts and hats...........we never heard of them.......we all laughed till they started playing.......WOW WOW WOW..........amazing..........Deep Purple sucked and the entire crowd was chanting .......ZZ TOP....ZZ TOP........at the end.........they stole the show for sure !!!!!
DUSTY HILL will be missed but never ever forgotten.
Tres Hombres is one of the best albums ever produced in my opinion.
NEVER Forget!
Man I saw these guys back in '72. I thought shit, what's that guy doing with the ten gallon hat gonna do up there...Well folks he blew us away with some hard fuckin' rock!!
One of the best pocket players there ever was. Miss you Dusty
Three talented musicians and a side street Houston jam in the wayside of the Sherwood Forest tenement fields. Texas has a right to be proud. Pure soul from these boys. If you can't feel it..then you should call it a day.
GAWD Bless Texas! ⭐ No Texas Flag emoji. But, I gotta Lone Star!⭐
Don't mess with Texas!!!
12 yrs old I was rockin to this stuff....oh my my
First saw these guys in 1973, Mobile, Alabama ... my ears are still ringing.
Anyone complaining this is too long, looping, etc., CAN'T say they appreciate the blues and the talent it takes to play. I'm enjoying the music! This Rocks! Appreciate you taking time to put it together!
yea it does really rock
Uàuaaaa
God I love this
God, I love this!;±ranslation: " Take me with you Jesus".
Amen !! Takin care of Business !!
Dusty Hill, Gonna miss those hot fingers. RIP
Probably top 5 concerts I've ever had the pleasure to witness.2 shows 16 fist fights before we even hit the spectrum doors 😊
Saw these guys in 83. And glad to see that they are still rockin
Saw them in '75 and again 2 weeks ago, wish I hadn't, pretty tired looking and sounding, just phoning it in these days.
Saw them in 1980, Recycler Tour
Did ya see Jesus too?😂
I'll never forget my buddies older sister. She had nice LP's! And a Baretta! Sonics are PERFECT!
Awesome mixture of a nice Southern Rock to a relaxing Texas Blues. You can hear the slide guitar in it. A lot of musicians took those blues music and incorporated it in Rock style. I really love how this band ZZ Top did just that. Way to go guys.
God bless our beloved Compadre Dusty Hill
🇺🇲🏜️🤠🎸🎼✨
I've been listening to these Texas boys since I was just a baby. My big sisters the one who turned me on to them so many years ago.
Now,I'm living in one of the communities where they played in the little bars, and in people's houses. My x saw them, and drank whiskey with them. I love all their stuff every Texas born note. Bless y'all, wish I could have a shot of whiskey with y'all....and I'd sing along. Not to mention hugggi g each ones neck. Bluesy Texas rock!!!!! Yes!!!
I ride the bus to work every morning and play this song. Thanks for the extended version. You did a good job.
Now THAT's a nice ride!
You got to love the time change between these two songs. They were always played on the radio in Chicago on the loop. Without Jesus loves Chicago waiting for the bus just isn't the same.
God in heaven.. thats like birthday and christmas all together. Simply Great . Congrats 👏
Love this stuff and still can't stop my feet from moving to these 3 Amigos superjam!
diggin the Top, I saw these Cats for the 1st time at the Anaheim stadium in 1973, couldn't tell you how many times since,🎸 Groovin to that funky 🎶 sound
💀 Heyyy Hey
grew up with these guys lucky to be able to see em back in the late 70's one of my favorite bands. good shit
Some tasty guitar work here by Willie G.
Too long ?? Fuck no !! I could listen to this all day !
Outstanding work brother! Pop's would be drooling over this smut. Thanx. Jesus is still sticking around old man river.
I love these guys & I thank you for posting all the old photos. I didn’t get to see them in concert but I sure am lovin’ UA-cam!
oh my god!!! I never saw Billy without his 'look', like just a regular guy as you have here. He's a good looking guy, I don't understand why he doesn't bust out from behind the 'mask' of his persona after all this time. This is in no way a criticizm of the classic ZZ look, its one of my favorites of all time. I'm 57, I'm just thinking about the fellow guitarist beneath the celebrity. It blows my mind to 'see' the face/personality that created those awesome and unique songs that I grew up with and covered in my own bands.
You captured my absolute 2 favorite ZZ Top songs so this is a treat, thanks amigo...
The Reverend Billy F. Gibbons IS that Man with the beard, glasses so dark they won't even know his name and, my favorite...His Bailey with the cut down brim. REAL Tejas Stuff Right There. Play it Rev!!!🏁🕶🤘🤠
"You don't have to worry, 'cause takin' care of business is his name".
That line never made sense to me.
I understand
Brad Byron Jesus is taking care of business, working behind the scenes, lifting us up and out of the bad times into paradise

First time I saw ZZ Top was June of 1974 with Golden Earing. Still got the ticket stub.
I just got to see them a couple months ago for their 50th anniversary tour and they are STILL as awesome as they were when I was listening to them in the late 70s
Tres Hombres Amigos rocked Flint Michigan 1973. Shook the brick house down baby!!!!!
Dusty got to go in his sleep, directly from his dreams to the joy of our Lord. 🙏
I never imagined Jesus being a "rock" guy. More imagined him as a gospels fan, sort of like when the angles sang when he was born. Must have been inspirational.
That’s a special privilege if you ask me? Reserved for descent human beings. 🙏
@@keriwilliams8980 Jesus was a bass player, the time-keeper & the groove-driver!
... When I go, I wanna be in a peaceful sleep. Not screaming like my passengers! LOL (funny! duncarewhoyare!))
yea man too bad god isnt real LOL
Definitely ear candy that needed extending 30 years ago.
Only got to see them once in San Antonio. What a fun night. I suspect they always put in a great show and sent the audience home smilingly. I know I was.
pictures alone are worth the price of admission. the mix is superb
So glad I have had the chance to see them, (3 times). Thanks for what you've done and continue to do. R.I.P. Dusty.
Brilliant, Mr. Bruels, simply brilliant.
6:07 my favorite bass come-along of all time. Whatever you wanna call it... it's my favorite moment in bass.
Right on. That *bass* done got me back
Yes indeed! I had a bassist friend who didnt want to play "Jesus Just Left Chicago" because he thought the bass line was to "simple", but I urged him to try it, and he realized that it took DISCIPLINE to play it with the right timing and steadiness! It takes SKILL to be able to play like Dusty, without speeding or slowing down the song! Ditto goes for all three of them...like Ginger Baker said, "timing is a gift"!
Fully Agreed! Have Mercy! Right Arm!
grew up with this music.
Yeah brother, so did I.🎸
Another Great One Gone. See You On The Other Side.
It's a good day when I see the Reverend Willie G with NO beard.
Songs bring back such good memories. The early stuff is probably best in my opinion any way. Rio Grand mud and Fandango were also awesome.
Dusty .
such an understated elegance .
ZZ Top....i ve always loved 'em. Cyndy Lou in Alabama
This is great!
From one "TEXXAN ", to another..
HELLYEAH,,,,!! y'all help raise me,,
Well, didn't dig the chop up at first. Been listening to this tune for many years, bit of shock. Listened a few minutes more, dig the loop, always loved this tune, dig the loop, always loved this tune. Nice work dude. Always loved the tune, been listening for many years...
It's weird to play correctly. I still don't think my band has it like it was intended. There's just something strange where they change songs. And we're perfectionists and still can't agree on the song change, so we play it like this.
Covering zztop is very very very hard.
Do the best you can and enjoy. It. Funny thing is we freak out about playing it perfect, but most of the people listening don't notice the imperfections.
This song is my baptism by 🔥 soul
RIGHT ARM! (Thx Nick!) Audio is perfect at my LOUD setting! WHAT?
badass southern rock+ smooth rhythm!
I love the smell of burning Vinyl! 🎧
And pics of a beardless Billy Gibbons to boot.
The harp seals the deal!

My grandparents brought ZZ TOP in my life at a young age. Love them for that. Always be in my heart. With a Lil skunk smell.ha
...RIGHT ARM!... Somebody gimme another brew. LOL
That ain't no Billy Gibbons, Frank Beard and / or Dusty Hill! (but, I like the way YOU think!) LOL
9:26 Geezus!
Very cool. Thanks for this.
RIP Dusty...
Effing love It!!!
Looks like Dusty had a head start, in the beard growing process, back then!
I have mix tapes and if it sounds better than the artists intended or maybe they would've done in hindsight so be it. Bonus for finding pix of the band where Billy Gibbons did NOT have a beard.
Great put together😂
This rocks!!!! I love the extended versions that don't destroy the song with dubstep

One of the top ten Best Guitar intros ever 😊
Hard to believe somebody can take something as simple waiting as waiting for a bus and turn it into a classical song that is loved 💖 all over the world 50 years later 😊
I love ❤ William Gibbons Voice it so masculine 😊
William 500 gibbons for December 16th 1949 lead guitarist and vocalist was the opening player at the Jimi Hendrix concerts.
A Jimmy knew when he met William and heard him play that guitar he knew this guy's got talent 😊
'Takin' Care of Business, Is his Name! ...
nice cut good job ! nick !
Nice job
Still here 2024?❤
good stuff
Ohh. Jesus left Chicago a LONG time ago.
My first of over 400 shows and last. Dusty Hill put my dog on stage. He's my 13 year old mini schnauzer.
good shit
Do you want to change your mind or is this where you’re going to treat me from now on????????
Smack in the middle of the tunes...a commercial. Cryin' Shame Homey.
Yes, this is hard until you learn it. Now it's simple, but you've got to be alert to sing and follow the chord changes and transition.
Bass seems fairly easy.
This is who Jimi Hendrix would go see play. Indeed.
Hendrix loved Gibbon's guitar playing. Hendrix first heard Gibbon's play when Gibbon's was in the band "Moving Sidewalks", not in ZZ Top. Moving Sidewalks did a few opening shows for Hendrix. Hendrix's comments about Billy was from hearing him on that tour in 1967. ZZ Top formed in 1969, and the trio we know and love finally formed after Beard joined with Gibbon's, and told Billy about Dusty. The true ZZ Top started their first show in early 1970. However, Jimi died before ZZ's first album even came out. Hendrix died 9.18.1970. First ZZ album came out 1.16.1971. Hendrix did get to hear ZZ Top, but unfortunately he missed out on major body of musical work that ZZ Top created, in the studio and live.

LEAD VOCALIST & LEAD GUITARIST 🎸
William Frederick Gibbons
(born December 16, 1949) is an American rock musician, best known as the guitarist and primary vocalist of ZZ Top. He began his career in Moving Sidewalks, who recorded Flash (1969) and opened four dates for the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Gibbons formed ZZ Top in late 1969 and released ZZ Top's First Album in early 1971.
He has also maintained a solo career in recent years, starting with his first album Perfectamundo (2015)

Funny! No one mentions The Harp! Who played it? I would guess Billy!
wondering the same thing ! any answers ?
I believe it was James Cotton. I play harp and that's a complicated riff. Sounds like him too.
