@@CyberBrySkyNet Even if we had had cell phones, it wouldn't have mattered. If they caught you trying to take photos, they'd eject you from the attraction. The staff were exceedingly strict on when and where you could take photos or videos.
I did this right around the year 2000. It was fantastic. You are right about them staying in character. When we got onto the turbolift, I said, "We are all going to die, right?" The crewman said, "No sir, you will be fine. Don't worry." lol
I flew the helicopter down the strip for the flying pov shots. It took 5 months of pre pro to get the FAA permission to fly down vegas blvd. Kurt Soderling was the aerial dp, and Dylan Goss was the assistant cameraman. We only had the strip for one hour. 450 cops blocked every entrance to every street, alley, sidewalk building, etc. I still have the film and it's on my reel under my page.
Hello. The footage is fantastic. Two questions. 1) Do you happen to have the in-camera pre-effects footage - in HD & 2 - why did 450 cops block every entrance to every street, alley, sidewalk building, etc. simply so you could do a fly-over?
This video skips the most amazing part of the ride. You are being shepherded through the line to a "normal" ride experience when suddenly the lights go out, a rush of wind, and when the lights come on you are standing on a transporter pad. (The "how the #*$&$^ did they DO that?" factor was VERY high!) One of the most unique theme park experiences ever.
100% agree with this, the transporter part was easily the most impactful ride effect I"ve ever been on, and I'm an architect and grew up in So Cal spoiled with Disney stuff. It seemed to be some bright twinkly lights surrounding us, a woosh of air going from bottom to top, sounds effects, and quickly flying in new walls and ceiling while the rest of the room was darkened and we were distracted. After the transport is complete the floor circle you were standing had lit up like a transporter pad. No one effect being all that unusual or high-tech, but together they all worked brilliantly to replicate what I could imagine it should feel like. Truly greater than the sum of its parts.
@@mitchgordon8199 Yeah, I remember being frozen in awe that I was on the bridge of the Enterprise. And that transporter effect was really something else and I'm still wondering how they did it.
Agreed. To this day I clearly remember how I felt from that experience. Not only was the effect very cool but I was so impressed at how fast it seemed to happen. It was crazy and completely unexpected. It was worth every penny. They also don't show how it looks like you're flying out over the strip out of Vegas into space. Afterwards we went to Quarks bar and the gift shop. I bought several souvenirs including a Tribble. I still have it. LOL!

Star Trek: The Experience was absolutely incredible. To this day I swear it would have been vastly more successful had they not stuck it so far away from The Strip.

Pondimus Maximus one day there will be a possibility that a new one could open up again. Especially with 2020 literally around the corner. Can you imagine what they could do? I think it would be cool if there were animatronics, like for the Borg or something. Having the scene where we first get to meet the Borg Queen in first contact be reenacted right in front of you. Her head being lowered by cables, with her robotic spine moving about, it would be awesome. And by the looks of technology with animatronics now these days, there could probably even be a Data one!
It was the biggest surprise I think I have ever experienced in my life. Well. Positive surprise. It was an AMAZING way to get you on board the Enterprise. I was (and still am) flabbergasted. I still tell my friends it was the most amazing experience ever. The first 4 minutes were simply out of this world. Once they put you in that shuttle, it wasn't anything great.
I didnt get to do the borg experience because I dont think it was there when I went in 2000, but what I did was fun. Think it was a Klingon fight or something. Being on the bridge was the best part. Looked just like it although it felt smaller than what I expected. Was hard not to go sit on Picards chair and say "Engage" before getting escorted out lol.
My mom and i did this in 2008. WE LOVED IT! My father is a huge star trek fan and sadly he couldn't come with us on that trip. But seeing the bridge of the enterprise D gave me chills. They did an excellent job making you feel like you were really on the enterprise and in outer space. The Borg experience was amazeballs! I still have my key chain on my keys and we bought my father a bottle of romulan ale which he has in his display case.
I went there twice. Once when my 2 sons who were young enough to believe it was real. Walking along a causeway we met two Klingons (employees of the attraction) Geez, they were both about 6'4". One of them commented on a Onizuka Space Camp t-shirt I was wearing. I knew the Klingon greeting in Klingonese. The Klingons were a bit surprised (a bit out of charterer) but they engaged me on earth space travel, warriorism and exploration. My sons were watching this in amazement. Dad held his own against the Klingons. They departed respectfully, as I nodded in respect. I looked at my sons with the expression, "Whoa, we made it through that one.... whew"!!!! Just wanted to thank the people who were part of that whole Star Trek The Experience. You guys created a great memory for my sons and me.
I worked here when it opened and ran the merch warehouse. What a great place. I remember hearing it was closing and went to it to ride one last time about a week before it closed. So sad to have seen this go. Way ahead of its time!!!

Agreed. I was lucky enough to experience it back in 1999 when it had only been open for a year. Las Vegas was still trying to attack families then and my family went for a trip there. I really enjoyed that vacation. This, the MGM Theme Park, the arcades, and Siegfried & Roy! A beyond fun vacation! Plus my mom won like $1,000 on Roulette!
I did the original experience at least 10 times, and the Borg experience once. One time I noticed a guy that was part of our group who looked familiar, but because of all the commotion I didn't think much of it. On the turbo lift he kept looking at me wondering if I'd figure out who he was. It wasn't till later I realized it was Robert Picardo, my favorite character on Voyager. This was one attraction in Vegas that was well worth the price!
I don't know about you but, i think they should close down The Simpsons ride at universal studios (orlando AND hollywood), and replace it with a Star Trek ride based off the reboot movies. And, here's my idea for the plot: It should be set right after the events of Star Trek Into Darkness, and Khan (or should I say...KKKKKKHHHHHHAAAAANNN!!!!) and his crew have been mysteriously re-awakened, they steal the starship ENTERPRISE, and decides to turn it against the federation. So, Captain Kirk and Starfleet now need Amusement Park guests to board Starfleet's new fleet of advanced and powerful shuttlecraft (that'll be the ride's cars), and stop khan, and save the ENTERPRISE. what do you think?
I had the fortunate privilege to travel all the way from Argentina to experience this awesome ride with my Dad and his wife back on 2006. I remember having goose bumps for all the ride and going two times in a row, just as as soon as first time was complete. It will be part of my best memories from both of Star Trek and my dad for ever. :)

I was lucky enough to go to this when I was really young in the early 2000s (can’t remember when exactly). My siblings and would run right back in line to do it over and over again. I basically grew up at Disneyland but I have to say this experience was the most immersive “ride” I’ve ever been on. A shame it’s gone. Thanks for the video.
We went one quiet Sunday in November 2001. It was amazing! We had had Sunday brunch upstairs in the main restaurant and had consumed quite a few glasses of sparking wine with our meal. We must have been in there for about four hours and did the “ride” three times, no one was in a hurry to throw us out. The props and costumes on show were fabulous. I’d been a trekky since I’d been a teenager and was in seventh heaven. We’d travelled from Scotland and even though being in Vegas was cool the Experience was the best thing ever!
Went there in 1998. I was impressed mostly with the costumes and makeup- which were excellent and must have been time consuming to get into. I still have an oversized soup mug with Quarks logo and a Ferengi rule of acquisition that one never begins negitiations on an empty stomach.
I went to this as a kid, it was awesome. In the line leading up to the ride experience thing, they had a whole museum of models and props you could look at and read about
You would’ve seen a young me waiting in line with my fam. My father was amazed by the large Enterprise-A model at the entrance he took so many pictures of it
So grateful I got to experience this. It was beyond description. The artifacts, special effects and costumes were authentic and what fun the whole experience was!!
I actually never knew until just now that this was shut down. I went once and it was AMAZING. I always planned to go back. Sat in the bar after the "experience" and had a couple of drinks with a Klingon! Not joking, I mean I guess he wasn't drinking, but he was really into his role and we talked, with him in character and me playing along, for more than an hour about the Star Trek universe. It was intense! I always recommended it to people (well a few times anyway), and now I can't. Bums me out!
I wish I would have known about this when it was open. Hopefully they will reopen this or start one somewhere in Hollywood or SoCal. Thank you for sharing this. I would have loved to have experienced this live
went to this exciting event in Las Vegas in 2000, at the Hilton, ($25 per person) with my wife, who was Not a Star Trek fan, this was before the Borg update, however, WE BOTH loved it. So disappointed that it is not available any longer. If you were a Trekie and even if you weren't, as my wife, this was the place to be. IT WAS GREAT
So glad I got to experience this in Vegas, one of the most memorable experiences I've had. As a 13 year old at the time my mind was blown with the transporter effect they had, starting off in a small room then suddenly you're on the bridge of a starship, definitely a one of a kind experience! Also started my interest in Star Trek!
I would have been gaga for this as a kid. yet, somehow, i was in Vegas immediately before this opened and after it closed ! thank You for posting this video. Live long and prosper!
There was nothing like it. The cast actually cared, and it showed. Last time I was at the hotel I snuck in (2016ish). They were using the old sci-fi casino floor to sell timeshares and Steve Winwood was blaring in the background. Sad fate for such a cool place.
This is simply awesome. Missed the opportunity to go there when I was in the US. What a freaking shame. This looks like an awesome, awesome experience. What a shame it had to stop.
My coworkers and I decided to take a field trip one day and flew over to Vegas from San Diego to see this. (We saw the earlier Klingon version.) It was fabulous and so much fun! Unfortunately we had to catch a flight back that same day and I didn’t get the chance to eat at Quark’s. Still, being on the bridge of the Enterprise was cool, as well as the Promenade. The one moment that actually startled me was in the restroom while I was washing my hands - I said something and a hologram in the mirror replied! I jumped back and yelled and my co-workers never let me forget it. Bonus: On the way out of Vegas I won enough at the airport slot machines to cover the cost of the Experience and my plane ticket. I walked back into my office a couple of hours later with my pockets bulging with quarters. We had to make up the time at the office later, but it was worth it, and the best part was that our boss approved. Somewhere I have a photo of my desk covered in quarters, my souvineers, and a Picard figurine observing the mountains of coin coolly. If this Experience ever returns, I will go see it - Covid permitting of course.
Waaa! I just found this video and put the Star Trek experience on my bucket list, then I found out that it is no more, and the website does not exist. Oh, cruel life, what dost thou torment me so? No matter, disney, eat your freaking heart out! You got nothing on this.
I remember working for the demolition company, who got the tear-up contract for the trek experience. Kind of sad turning alot of the interior into scrap knowi ng that some of my geek friends were very sad the experience was shut down. The poor goofy guys..
I went on Xmas day 2007 and did the Borg invasion as well as the back stage tour where you could stand in a Borg unit and sit in the captains chair. Great exhibition. Only thing that has come close is the Doctor Who exhibition in London / Cardiff. Such a shame it closed and lots things sold off or destroyed. Great memories.
They try to keep as much as they can. The space Loo was still operating last I was there. It was Space Quest casino of the LVH for a while. They turned the open area into bar for a while. Then a preview center for Hilton vacations. I didn't go in during my visit last week 4-9-18 but I noticed the Federation logo was still outside of the main complex.
My son and I did some clips and photos in Los Angeles but we could not get them after the show. The company back then did not answer phone calls or emails. I know they are gone by now. My son had such fun doing his clip against the Klingons in battle.
This is old but likely that is him. I commented back when he had a YT presence and asked him if he was in this video. He said yes he’s one of the borg. I don’t know where he’s gone since I really hope he republishes “my experience”
I never could get used to the Next Generation layout of the Enterprise. A real Star Trek experience is to step aboard the original Enterprise recreation for me.
Was at this w/ my wife in 2003 while we were in Vegas for a convention. Really enjoyed it. At one point in the Promenade, a Klingon bumped me and "got in my face" for dishonoring him (for what I have no idea). So, I got in his face, called him an SOB in Klingon (Ha'DIbaH) and told him I'd ripped his ridges off off his head and feed them to his pet targ. His eyes got wide, he laughed loudly, told me I was impressive for a human and offered me some blood wine. So much fun.
I'm only just now watching Next Generation (loving it, btw). And now that i'm actually familiar with the Borg seeing this invasion in person would have been insane. I'd have loved to have been there
Fun fact: Karole Selmon, who played Queen Yareena on the inframous TNG episode "Code Of Honor" from its 1st season played also a Starfleet officer on the "Experience" ride in Las Vegas.
I went to Vegas in 2007 on a business trip. I flew out 2 days early so I could go to the Star Trek Experience at the Vegas Hilton. As I was in line to buy a ticket, two parents and their child were visibly upset when they found out that it was $130 for the 3 of them to enter the experience. It was obvious that they couldn't afford the money to get in. I decided to cover the cost for them. It was worth every penny to watch them enjoy the experience. I would've paid $500 to get a picture of me in the captain's chair on the bridge of the 1701-D, but it wasn't allowed. I hung around at Quarks bar and the various exhibits for 3 hours. Most of the staff were huge fans of Star Trek. It was awesome talking to them about their favorite series and characters. True to form, many agreed with me that DS9 was the best series. Sadly, when I went back in late 2009, the Start Trek Experience was gone. Apparently, it was to make way for the JJ Abrams' pile of sh*t movies and the Kelvin Time-line. They felt by keeping the Star Trek Experience, it would interfere with the concept of the new time-line.
You probably went through the Star Trek Experience before they added the Borg show, that's what happened to me. It opened in 1998 w/ the TNG show; they added the post-Voyager Borg attack in 2004.
I did this about 14 years ago. All of the actors stayed in perfect character. Just incredible fun.

I still have an oversized soup mug with Quarks logo and a Ferengi rule of acquisition that one never begins negitiations on an empty stomach.
dont walk, RUN!
Was so fun the first (and only) time I went as a kid. I definitely miss it.
I went to this as a kid, it was awesome. In the line leading up to the ride experience thing, they had a whole museum of models and props you could look at and read about
i wanna go back in time to 1997 when it opened and visit this place
And drink more booze in Quarks bar.
I heard it's now closed...what a shame...I would love to have gone to it...looks great!!!
I've been there in 2006 for the 40th Anniversary. It was indeed amazing.
@ Julian Hernandez when you go back, could you give my younger self a copy of 2015's Sports Almanac? Thanks in advance!
You would’ve seen a young me waiting in line with my fam. My father was amazed by the large Enterprise-A model at the entrance he took so many pictures of it
My ex was a Klingon for the Experience. I really miss the Experience! Some of the best times ever!!
This video is awesome! Never had a chance to attend when this was active so it is cool seeing the footage of it now
So grateful I got to experience this. It was beyond description. The artifacts, special effects and costumes were authentic and
what fun the whole experience was!!
Wow, those sets and costumes were amazing, you could have filmed an episode of TNG here
I actually never knew until just now that this was shut down.
J Dub I never got to go I wish I did
*Shut down???*
@@Rose-fx1vn whyyyyyyy....I been ROBBBBEEEEDDDDD YOU sobs bring it BACK...
I wish I would have known about this when it was open. Hopefully they will reopen this or start one somewhere in Hollywood or SoCal. Thank you for sharing this. I would have loved to have experienced this live
Brings back a lot of memories. I really enjoy that place. was it at the Hilton?
The sets are incredible. Top notch.
This beats the crap out of that Star Wars Experience Disney’s got today in 2022.
went to this exciting event in Las Vegas in 2000, at the Hilton, ($25 per person) with my wife, who was Not a Star Trek fan, this was before the Borg update, however, WE BOTH loved it. So disappointed that it is not available any longer. If you were a Trekie and even if you weren't, as my wife, this was the place to be. IT WAS GREAT
I wish that I could have gone there, I would have loved it - I hated it when they shut it down
Finally found this video. I went to this and was blown away. The transporter effect was so fun!
I'm so glad I was able to go experience this.
Well, only now I saw this! So nice to post it here. Thank you so much
I wish this would come back! #bringbackstartrekexp!
Thank you so much for posting this video . I always wanted to know what it was like .
you shall have the real thing when we get to heaven
Damn i wish this was still open
I would have been gaga for this as a kid. yet, somehow, i was in Vegas immediately before this opened and after it closed ! thank You for posting this video. Live long and prosper!
I was lucky to have gone through this attraction 5 times, it was outstanding. Sure miss it.
I'm sorry I missed this. The actors looked like they were actually having a good time. That makes a difference.
There was nothing like it. The cast actually cared, and it showed.
Last time I was at the hotel I snuck in (2016ish). They were using the old sci-fi casino floor to sell timeshares and Steve Winwood was blaring in the background.
Sad fate for such a cool place.
I have been on both versions 2 times.
The Borg version was my favorite.
That's a big bridge!
Man I wish I could have seen it, sadly I got out there after it closed. Thank you for the video, I had aways wondered what it was like.
I so loved star trek the experience. True the actors stayed in characters.
I so loved the turbo lift. Still dont know how they did that so fast.
hehe I'm in this video several times on the Klingon ride, come back star trek the experience! T.T
Its like being inside a theater it's such high art. We should have more of this
It was in Vegas but was torn down. It's currently being rebuilt. See the description above for more info
Wow getting to walk through those hallways and into the real bridge must have been soooo amazing
would love to have experienced this at least once in life. Universal Studios or Disney could surely capitalize off such an theme park attraction!!!!!
So not fair! I was in college when this existed. By the time I graduated and could afford to go it disappeared.
Went there in 98 and loved it. Eating a quarks was fun and the extras they had actually new stuff about star trek
This was awesome. So sad it’s gone.
This is simply awesome. Missed the opportunity to go there when I was in the US. What a freaking shame. This looks like an awesome, awesome experience. What a shame it had to stop.
THE STAR TREK EXPERIENCE IS CLOSED. I went on it many times and im so sad its gone. loved everything about it
I want to go there so badly! D': why did it close?
Unfortunately not enough regular visitors to keep it open
That's too bad :( and it was such a wonderful place. But I understand, it must have been a very expensive project.
Check this out: newstarship.com/
Thank you so much :)
People finally grow up and have more important things to do in life.
This looks intense! So sad I missed it 😢 actors looked like they were having a great time too!
this!.. this would have been the perfect job for me.
I was thinking that as well...as I am sure several others were.....man....how much fun would that be?
My sentiment exactly
Fred Maxwell I second that thought. I remember going there for the first time and wanting to move to Vegas just to be able to work there. Ah dreams..
Thank you. 🖖🏾
In HD no less! WOW -
Wow this looks amazing.. if i'm ever going to the US it's for this!
How fun is that! I took ot once, but it was so long ago I hardly even remember it. Too bad it's all gone now.
So glad I got to experience this a year before they closed.
This looks so cool. I’m not a Star Trek fan but I hope something like this comes again soon so that I can experience it.
This ride looks amazing!
I am always sad when I see video of this. I never got to go, but I hear the videos don't do it justice, and the video is awesome!
Went there with my Mom, who also was an ST fan ("Riker is so handsome!"😁) Miss you, Mom.
Bring it back
I went on Xmas day 2007 and did the Borg invasion as well as the back stage tour where you could stand in a Borg unit and sit in the captains chair.
I wish I could've seen it for myself.
I see Vernon Wilmer @08:54 ?
I loved his "Star Trek my Experience" Documentaries
This is old but likely that is him. I commented back when he had a YT presence and asked him if he was in this video. He said yes he’s one of the borg. I don’t know where he’s gone since I really hope he republishes “my experience”

I never could get used to the Next Generation layout of the Enterprise. A real Star Trek experience is to step aboard the original Enterprise recreation for me.
@@qed100 no.
They made it so good it looks like a whole deck
I really hope they manage to get this even where i live, man that would be awesome! :D
I found this quite emotional to watch 😢 👏 welling up here for some reason
Absolutely fantastic
omg this is amazing. I wanted to go as a kid so bad!
I'm only just now watching Next Generation (loving it, btw). And now that i'm actually familiar with the Borg seeing this invasion in person would have been insane. I'd have loved to have been there
The Experience was just the best. So sad it's gone
I wanna see the Enterprise...no bloody A, B, C, or D....Relics
Montgomery Scott
Unfortunately not but check my info section about the rebuild project going on.
shinagami8
when was this filmed ?
that sucks so bad i wanted to go there so badly but i arrived a year too late
When she said we will take you back to your own sanctuary,I would just say no please I stay here don't send me back noooo..
I did the vegas experience...But I didn't know about that Borg part.
You probably went through the Star Trek Experience before they added the Borg show, that's what happened to me. It opened in 1998 w/ the TNG show; they added the post-Voyager Borg attack in 2004.
