Stuart, I'm sorry to hear about your illustration gig going away. Something similar happened to me after the pandemic and I was truly upset about it. Interestingly, other opportunities have revealed themselves to me and I am now making more money, working less, and feeling much more fulfilled by my new work than I ever was before. Sometimes change is forced upon us to reveal something better that was there all along! I wish you the best in all your endeavors my friend!

Hi Stuart, excellent as always and if you do a part 2 I will be here and would even watch for more than an hour. I like the reddish spot in the clouds and the bright one behind the trees on the left, as if the moon behind the clouds is casting light on the fields below. I like the "illusion of detail", the landscape that has good depth with the sky and earth almost blending together. I'm curious if and what you would change about it. - Thank you, your wonderful painting provides diverting entertainment, time flies and suddenly it's over. Be blessed, and take good care of your health, it is the most precious thing a living soul can call his or her own. 👍🧡

Painting got me through the insanity of the past three years. I've painted more in the last 3 years, than the 3 years I spent working on my MFA. P.S. I prefer cheap bristle brushes, as well. They leave the best brushstrokes, paint break, marks, and textures. Thanks for the interesting lessons. PS. Be careful with the diuretics and stay hydrated.

I am particularly enamored with how you painted this sky! I also saw you use a couple techniques Naughton must use as well to get that sweeping sky effect. I’m excited to try it. Really like that mix of colors you had on the brush in the beginning, that gives that understated, yet still striking point of interest in the area where your uppermost clouds are. Really sets off the rest of the sky brilliantly.
    Thank you for uploading!
I’m happy to see you painting more, & am grateful you’re willing to share your skills. I for one feel fortunate to be a patron & have no intention of stopping. Looking fwd to this Saturday’s Zoom Class🙂

Just saw this today and I hope things turn out well for you regarding the turn of employers. I've been through about 12 mergers and every time they lay off everyone they can. I can almost guarantee the person making the decision to move artists to the other side of the world is a young MBA. Computer support fails miserably when shipped overseas and that's a technical skill set. It's hard enough to translate vague descriptions into art resembling what the requestor wants when you know the culture and understand their needs, let alone when your culture and language are completely different.
Also, regarding relaxation, the main stress hormone, cortisol, actually hinders the body's repair mechanisms. So, it makes sense that focusing on the better things and taking positive actions actually does help in the long run.

Stuart, I feel for you. I worked for Steelcase which manufacturers office furniture for 25 years. 12,000 employees in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The company was privately owned and was forced to go public. The Ceo's job was to cut heads. As a result, 10,000 people were let go. The company then moved to Mexico. He is now head of Ford Motor Car Co. I was 51 years old. I took 2 years off then went into teaching and worked for the Post Office until I was 67. I also bought houses and rented them out. Retired from the work force and just paint and watch your videos. You, with your brilliant mind will come up with great ideas for ideas! Don't give up!

Love your videos no matter the length!
Regarding your comments related to multipart videos and people’s ability or desire to watch for a long period of time in one sitting as well curious if UA-cam would love you more if you had more videos overall vs fewer but longer? Meaning, 2-3 parts per painting about 30-45 minutes long? If they want frequency you could post 3 days in a row with just one painting broken up? I don’t know how it all works but my guess is the average person has 30-45 min at a time that they can commit to and maybe your numbers would increase overall as well? Hope that makes sense? Personally if I have only 30 min I just pause the video so any length words for me! Very glad I found you. Best wishes, Melanie

Stuart, as a former physiological psychology researcher, I can tell you that the mind is a very powerful thing. Physical pain and health can, in many cases, truly hinge on your psychological state. As I hope you have been told by your physician, I can suggest that you spend some time meditating on the belief that your body is healing. I know this sounds like New Age BS given your diagnosis, but the mind is a powerful organ, capable of activating just about every system in your body, autonomous or not. I cherish your work and expertise in the arts, and I hope you can find your way to a maintenance program that allows you to build the psychological and physiological tools to manage your condition. Thank you for all you do. 💖👍

thank you for re-explaining the cloud touch .. trying it for months without success... but still have made some beautiful paintings even with the failure in them. I think there was an Englishman somewhere who said something to the effect of "keep calm and carry on." Please do. And an American about the same time who said something like, "nothing to fear but fear itself." When I think of Mr. Davies, I think, "try to paint like no one is watching." It should be easy to be courageous when you remember that it is, after all, only paint.

You are treading ground I see coming up on my own horizon, no existential threats yet, but they will come. I do small landscapes on construction scrap I salvage at work. I sell them wherever I figure there is appropriate foot traffic and lax by-law enforcement, this may sound dodgy, because it is, and I like it that way. "Street artist" has a nice ring to it, and I meet all manner of interesting folks. Cheers, and good luck from Vancouver, Canada.

Stuart! You asked about providing more than one video covering one painting: I think those who are interested in learning will be willing to watch as many videos as needed. I’ve watched this one all the way through twice, so far! See you on a zoom class soon!

    Sir Davis
As usual the gift of your talented art and kindness won't be determined by some irresponsible greed by some of those whom weren't able to appreciate your valuable work but I'm sure that there are so many real people who's sharing the same feelings with me that you're treasurer to all of us who appreciate the beauty of your art and respect the kindness of your nature that always been giving to everyone more than taking and that is enough to assure you that the coming days will bring you the best for you that yet been wanting to get back to you because we all owed to you and we all sooner or later are coming to be your real students online or in person and I can see it happening in the near future so please keep your faith in us because we are your global family,،❤️❤️❤️

Assume you're on the water looking inward at the beach What does the water look like just in front of you? That red looks as though it is beach at the moment.

Thank you so much for your latest video! I would be really happy to watch a 3 part one on the same painting. Part of the fascination is watching it come into being and wondering what you'll decide to do next. I find myself talking out loud to you about this or that section just before you work on it!

Thank you so much for your sharing this with us; best wishes for your continued health improvement and I chuckled at your reference to happy accidents…that show was my intro to painting as a kid and I love it to this day.

Looking forward to part two, even part three if you wish. I like the stroke by stroke and the chat along with it. I am very encouraged to apply some of your techniques and casual looseness to my own artwork. Thanks Stuart!

I have to say thank you! I did a landscape on a board I saved from the dumpster leftover from the ceiling in my hay barn. I showed it to a friend who asked how I got the gorgeous detail in my clouds! I told her I watched your videos!
