The reason we think of gold as having a specific look is because the old technique with foil started with painting a red coat first.
It's like a reverse candy apple gold that will make it pop if you want a baroque aesthetic lol.
My exams are going on and i cant wait to get started with it.
I always saw videos but i thought it would be too complicated or expensive.

Sick work Frank. You’re getting better and better with your electronics. To me what makes these suites impressive is the fit and finish and the attention to detail with wire management, fastener/retainer methods, padding and just overall detail on the interior of the suite. While people can’t see any of that while you’re wearing it, you can however have a display model with you that showcases the interior. I think it would be awesome to see one in a stand that you can step backwards into and actually be able to fold closed with you in it and be able to disengage some electro magnets so you can walk out of the stand that was holding it. Massively challenging to accomplish something like that. Lol Might have to cheat a little with the helmet and hands. 😅 I think it is very doable though. Anyway… Nice work man. You’re large prints come out fantastic too by the way.

I'm making 80% of my costume for our local con next month. It's a very simple costume. I'm doing a Reptile cosplay but upgraded. Instead of a green sheet, I got some vinyl that looks like snake skin. Then you can make Ultimate Build Series your thing and each suit/design will have it's own series broken down into parts.

Do you think you could make a vid on an iron man helmet without electronics, but make the faceplate come up and back down still? Maybe some sorta hinges or something? I’m no good at electronics/wiring, so I just thought I’d ask.
What filament do you use?
I’m using the do3d mk85 file and just finished printing the helmet, the detail on that thing is amazing! I’m definitely going to need to do some scaling but it looks very promising. I can’t wait to see more of the mk85 videos.
One quick question, what size magnets are you using on the helmet? I feel like it should be 8x2mm but wanting to confirm before ordering them.

Hey Frank! Do you know how to make custom transparent pieces with FDM pieces? If not, any way to make custom shaped eyes for a helmet Im making. (kamen Rider, so eyes are very large yet colored).
