This video was completely pointless. There was nothing to learn, no climbing, just a bunch of shots of people screwing holds onto the walls. You guys should change "Better Beta" to "climbing music videos."
I mean, it was a "fun" video but learned absolutely nothing from it. I thought they might actually explain what they were thinking, doing etc. Instead it was just cameo shots and music.
The comment at 2:46 is really wrong, I'm surprised they didn't have Tyler redo that one. Everyone knows Alex grew up in the gym and that Claire crushes at the red.
As has been pointed out: Alex grew up in the gym and even competed on the circuit. He knows plastic. He wasn't very good compared to the best. Alex's strength is his gigantic balls and Jedi mind power.
2:45 "The old schoolers who don't know anything about plastic to the people who are only plastic mainly focused to set something together is pretty sweet" This is a depressing statement to me. I grew up in Scotland climbing indoors to get ready for outdoor seasons. I now live in the PNW climbing here and there where I can. I never saw a segregation between the two. I climbing indoors when I had to in order to meet certain training goals I had then applied those training principles on my out door routes when it was right to do so in the year. This statement confuses me. Are "Old Schoolers" outdoors and "New Schoolers" indoors? I am genuinely baffled by this gentleman's statement so any clarification is greatly appreciated please and thank you.
Michael Tilly I usually campus out of a move like that but my wife often does the splits on the wall as well lol! It's quite impressive being that I can't do splits to save my life
alex honnold looks exactly how i did when i was 12 and woke up early on christmas morning with the worst bed head lol
keep checking that mirror bitch
Hats of to Tyler Willcut. Great idea 💪👍
all pro climbers! Cool

I want to climb a boulder set by alex and nalle 0.0

Alex Honnold is an old school dude??? That makes me feel extremely old... I better go build something, like a grandpa would :)
Climber Dad i think they didnt mean it that way. just wanted to say that he climbs almost onlly outdoors and is not used to indoor bouldering.
but he climbs indoors quite often and is how he got into the sport.
I'd say he's new school

marry me hazel
David Lewis this might not be the most effective way to propose to her...😀
5:21 also excuse me where is your other leg?!?
"Only plastic mainly"
Can we see the full boulder problems each team created?
This video is the equivalent of taking Michael Jordan to a basketball manufacturing facility and watching him learn how to make a basketball...
i would watch that

A bunch of hall of famers in the same room!!!
Alex Honnold!!
This was in my hometown. Too bad I go to The Front
haha Planet Fitness!!!
4:40 oh, fuck me...
Alex Honnold looks so bored mixed up in this corporate mess, but i guess even he has to make a living somewhat....
I think he's very shy... because he's actually millionaire and does that for fun and also for free. North face pays very well!!
He looks pretty content, actually. He has spent a lot of time in climbing gyms, and he is now comfortable with the corporate celebrity aspects.
4:39 my jaw dropped wtf

climbing is the one sport where watching others' butts is ok
Might as well just rip my left leg off so I don't consider trying it...
James Boreson i think his jaw dropped because of that ass:D
Why call your series ‘better beta’ when it doesn’t show anything of the sort? Lame.
I guess even when you are Alex Honnold you have to do things you don't want to do and that make you look silly
Torille
Sanoit sen!
a climbing gym next to a savers!? no fair
How do they determine the climbing rating ?
Alex looked like he was gonna fall asleep standing in the beginning there.
Nalle and Alex?!
Hazel...
This video would have been better with only Alex in it.
Lol at honnold fixing his posture when they point the camera at him (Was there a monitor?)
0:52 why is there a board on the wall to the left that cant even be climbed?
That's what you might call a 'relic of the past' that we cherish and didn't want to see thrown out :) there's a lot of history behind it.
I guessed as much, shame it cant be climbed though as woodies are still very relevant today :)
