This is the best movie about Jesus. I saw it first at the movie theater in 1961 when I was 12. I have seen it many times since then and I have it on DVD. I always cry at the end.
What Miklos Rozsa did between 1958 (when he started to score "Ben~Hur") and 1961, with "King of Kings" and "El-Cid" is off the charts. There's nothing like it in Hollywood history, and in just ~3 years. His personal favorite was "Cid", I believe. "Hur" is the most famous. But, I'm with you... "Kings" is tops.
We need to see this movie on TV again so that our new generations can see Jesus and appreciate his coming. The music score is magnificent. It makes you stand up and praise God. Movies like this will never be made again. We have not produced humans that have a real love of the story of Christ. They go for the money, not the heart of the story.

I cried for hours,afterwards, it touched me so deeply, and then I prayed deeply,lets just say I had an 'experience' !! at 62 1/2 yrs of age it has never left me!! it is soo sacred ,holy and special to me. Totally agree. Was Jesus fair skinned with light blue eyes? Likely not. But I firmly believe that he was a handsome and a charismatic guy. I know it’s shallow, but we as humans are more inclined to listen to and follow people who are nice on the eyes and charismatic. And Jesus had many followers. Just because the Bible says that Jesus didn’t exactly look like a King, doesn’t mean that he was an ugly guy.

I saw this film first time when I was 6 y.o. Now I am 49. First time in English, I am from Argentina, so I saw it in the dubbed version. My mum died when I was 8, and she was a fervent catholic. I grew up with these great movies. Their will never be any movies to replace these classics. King of Kings, Ben Hur ( while it still has nothing to do with Easter it always played at Easter) and The Greatest Story ever told. They always bring back wonderful memories of a beautiful holiday. While as a kid I acquainted Easter with chocolate filled baskets but as an adult it’s a feeling of renewing, love and being close to my family when mom made Easter dinner and we would all watch these moves in the afternoon. It also reminds me of my beautiful mother snd how she so loved that time of year and still does to this day, spring made her so happy. God Bless all !
