Had the pleasure to see her play multiple times in Chicago. Joanna, I'm so impressed to see you in such a good shape and see you teach the blues! Carry on!
Joanna is one of the best blues and slide guitar players in the world! She is also one of the most fun, kindest and patient people/teachers you could ever work with. She took me from being an average marginally confident blues player that was stuck in a rut for decades to feeling that I can play with anyone.
I have been watching you for some time now. Love your playing I was curious if you worked with or knew Luther Allison ? He was a friend, he was a good Man. I miss him.
Saw you at the Stanhope House in NJ back in the 90's and have been a huge fan ever since. You look great and sound great and have definitely earned your position as a blues great.
I’m so glad I found this site. My wife and I were watching JoAnna on UA-cam the other night. Her playing made me get goosebumps. We had a great time dancing and watching.
This is soooo Awesome, Joanna is definitely one of THEE Top blues guitarist, she'll go down in blues history, no doubt!!! I remember when she hit the Chicago Blues seen, big impact! I grew up in that area (Wrigley Field, on Kenmore Ave between Grace & Byron St.) back in the early '70's through the late '80's, & as a guitarist, I can tell you just how inspiring she is!!!! My wife & I live in SWFL,( Ft. Myers area 4yrs now) & I gig down here a LOT, & bring that Chicago Blues & jazz/fusion influence with me & it's working out just GREAT!!! Would love to see her come down here & play, people would really dig her!!! Thanks for sharing this video,I just subbed to your channel and will support, you guys ROCK!!! GO CUBS!!! Be safe my friends, Rock On & God Bless!!!
I like how Joanna says she's worked with some of the greats. She IS one of the greats. I've rarely heard the blues played anywhere near as good as she plays them.
O my Gosh! She's an amazing teacher! No, no, no, I take that back! She's a complete inspiration to me to wanting to learn how to play blues the way she does.
Joanna, it’s so good to see you alive and well and a slimmed down version of your former self! I’ve followed your music for a long time and always appreciated your musical abilities. Dust my broom is one of the pieces I’ve not really got down, I think it may be because I’ve always tried to play it in open tuning and got lost with the chords. I’ve decided to give it a go using your method, it looks more logical to me! Bookmarked for future reference! Stay well, stay safe!
My kind of blues woman. Maximumum props. Living my best blues like. I go back to being backstage with J. Winter. Love your explanations about slide. The blues will roll on forever. Thank you for lasseiz’ le bon temps rouléz! -Matt’s dad
I had the honor of attending some of your shows in Kingston mines in November 2014. You are great, it was a real pleasure. You are not less good as a teacher, great discovery 👏
Hi Joanna Just found your video now, Sunday night August 18th 2024 Instantly become your new fan Love from bsd city, Indonesia ❤ When you make the slower version, all i remember is Gary Moore version of this song 🔥🔥🔥
Good Lesson! Very clear, precise explanations...and I'm glad you mention Jimmy Johnson as one of your mentors. along with Otis Rush, Magic Sam, Son Seals - Jimmy Johnson is one of my top favorites in Chicago blues guitar! Good Teaching!
A dear friend just turned me on to Joanna! Wow wow wow! She is the real deal. How have I not heard of her before? I am going to check her Zoom lessons. You may be from Chicago but do I hear a Boston accent? You rock!

I love you, I don't care if you play with an R8 or with a bread cutting board, you are very great. I hope I can see you live one day. a big hug from Spain
Hi Miss Joanne Connor my name is Melinda I am a big fan of yours I love the way you played Blues on your guitar I love the ones on you did the Levi will break I also love Robert Plant's music to Led Zeppelin I love them that's a really good man and I love your Bantu I love the way your band member plays the drums and you play the guitar
I’m from Palo Alto, CA near San Francisco but was born in Chicago, South Side, Michael Reese Hospital, Bennett and 92d, Amelia Earhart Elem, and according to Willie Big Eyes Smith my Daddy sold Chevy to Muddy!!!
I've allways thought that this song is played in E... and I have done that for a number of years. I now understand that this is wrong.... but it can be done... and no one has complained about "the wrong key" when I've preformed it... thank god. Maybe it's a result of the fact that I only knew about Open E when I started to try to play slide. Nowadays I usually use Open G, or D. These two tunings also are a little more gentle to the neck in the long run, due to a looser strain...
We are working on it ourselves to make sure she is. Have you seen Joanna's weekly column in our newsletter, chicagobluesnetwork.com/bblues-note-volume-1-issue-26/

But she is a looker and a half in my book plus she exudes the blues.

How she is not a household name blows my mind
