You introduced a song that needs no introduction, then slayed it like you wrote it. Thank you sir for all that tasty delta pie
...and never actually named it. Great heritage!
Haha, yeah he really did. Brilliant
@@steelman774 Name what?
Somebody give this man a record deal
Yeah, why not? I rather buy that record and play it at home, than generic shit radio music.
All right Jessy Rai, he can have my Lynyrd Skynyrd Double Gold and Platinum album for 5 bucks. That's $2.50 a record. Quite the deal!
@@therapist6328 That's a shit deal, both of those records are worth more than the ink it'll take to print your obituary.
@@robertmantell1700if the albums were worth more, as you say Robert, wouldn't that make it a non-shit deal?
@@therapist6328 Nope, because if you are offering up two great LS albums for $2.50 then YOU'RE worthless! ;-)
Legend says that lighting struck when he picked up a guitar.
Ever since that fateful moment neither his fingers or his hair could rest.
Lightning strikes not once but twice.
Must agree this guy is really good and deserves a record deal.
If you and ..Justin Johnson got together...ohh..Lordy..Lord..Lord .!! 😎🎸
I sent Justin's wife Nikki an email about Mr. Phillips a few weeks ago and sent her another one last week. She emailed me that she told Justin. I , like you feel they are kindred spirits that need to connect. It is my hope they do.
I think Justin is better at slide but this guy can also sing which makes them pretty equal. I don’t know I could be wrong. I have never heard Justin sing
Hello there... any news on this? I hope they can jam someday
Love the acknowledgement of Elmore James. He often gets missed.
And you, sir, are a worthy successor of the tradition.
Totally agree!
no hes not, hes not even playing the riff right lol
The song made me want to play the slide, when I was like 12 years old...took along time.... I am 62 years now, actually 63 just had a birthday whoops
But I put the slide guitar on my ring finger, and then I can mute and I only use a little slide like 2 inches long or so
Yeah , Elmore James what a talent man..
Was not expecting a voice like that.
pfff!! you are crazy - hes half singing it
You sir are a true artist. Great singing great playing and thank you for keeping these old songs alive God bless you ✌️
Wow man! So good....I hope this comes out right. To me, this doesn't sound like a cover. The way you sing and express yourself through your playing really comes across. You make these songs yours in a way. It doesn't sound like you are just trying to copy the original. And I really like your hat.
Thumbs of steve. Agreed. I just wrote something very similar, then I read your post.
You hit the mark with your comment, Steve. I think that's what artistry is: taking something and creating a new thing that's wonderful and your own.
The hats very cool. At least it ain’t a cape
best version ive heard: ua-cam.com/video/8wMRbXOI0lc/v-deo.html
100% Steve, This reminds me of how Johnny Cash took “Hurt” from NIN and made it his own so much they eventually said to him - you did it better than we did ….. It’s now yours
His singing makes it all work.
This is fantastic!!! Blues music is the stuff that touches your soul but touches your body too. Can anyone NOT bop to it!? Involuntary.
I could watch and listen to his guitar playing endlessly.
You play the blues so well and you singing is outstanding. You should be world famous and I hope you achieve the success you deserve. I love your style of blues music and stumbled across your music by accident and I am glad I did.
When you hear that it makes you feel like fun is coming. It's a great riff.
Thanks Edward for keeping the blues alive, great job as always, a true bluesman
Oh my. Wow. I am new to Edward Philips and just listened to his crushing performance of Crossroads....Now I’m here listening to his cover of Dust My Broom ....😮
I hit a Blues Gold Mine today. I’m glowing blue right now😆
Edward, you sir ARE EXACTLY the type of blues playing I’ve been searching for for years!!! The perfect authentic slide blues...tight, energetic and authentic. Just beautiful...wow I’m hooked
What comes from the heart, reaches the heart. Edward, you have the heart and the ability to express it. A true blues man.
Only just woke up here in England, Sunday , just past 8.30am. This is the perfect start to the day ! 😉👍
You have a natural talent for bringing out the heart and soul of these blues songs.
They sound so fresh and reach so deep. Wonderful slide work. Thanks. I look forward
to these videos for reliable enjoyment.
I wish I could LIKE this again... I've replayed this a few times..! It's perfect.!
You are the reason why this music will never die! Thank you much, buddy.
Magic,The roots are still alive & well.Thank you for sharing Quality Music
One of the best at keeping the music of the masters alive and well! So glad I found his music and videos.
What a amazing tribute to an American legend thank you. Cheers from Canada eh!!👍😊👍
Your slide vibrato mimics your voice. It's an inspiration
Can’t sleep so in youtube land watching SRV reaction vids and, boom, I’m listening to your awesome playing and singing! VERY EXCELLENT!!
Jesus Christ man...every song you do, you come in the door and go full auto on. I've never seen anything like it. Respect.
*_I'm a big fan of Delta Blues 🎸💙 so this channel is a heaven for me😻💯🔥_*
Good performance, good song, and EXCELLENT background scenery.
good singin' and good playin' ..you express knowledge and respect to the traditional art form, and you have the most important thing ...Talent! Thanks!
Wow. You make that guitar sing. Awesome.
I’m simply blown away. Way better than I expected. This guy’s got “ it”.
I had this on cassette tape by Elmore James, back in the 80's. Great cover, always enjoy your uploads. Thanks, until you are better paid.👍👍
Straight killing it, Edward.
Please put out an album.
Best cover of this song I've ever heard.
You are my favourite slide guitarist of modern times, like your style and all your versions... brilliant. Im wishing one day you'll make a tutorial dvd on blues slide. I would happily pay a pretty price for. I'm sure many others would too.
That was amazing. I played this for my high school music exams and it got me first ranking in my state. Still, not even close to being as good as this.
I also want to express my appreciation of your videos man. Seems so true to the original performers with all respects payed. You're the canary in a coal mine and what brought you to play and sing this well is probably a story in and of itself.
Great content!
Blues is music about emotion and touch of life!!
And You got both! Thx!
Love your rendition as usual.
This is such a nice reprieve from today's music. Thanks for the little history at the beginning too!
Hot damn son! That got my foot moving in 4/4 time baby! Wooo!!!
Great treatment of this classic...bravo.
Do you play clubs or bars or anywhere?
He has live videos so I believe he does.
I have an Elmore James and a Robert Johnson recording of this classic and I like this version as much!
Keep em coming. UA-cam fan base will keep rising. Great playing. Up to you young guys like yourself and Justiin Johnson to carry the torch for the blues and roots music to future. Thanks for doing so.
Very nicely done! There are many versions of this great tune & your's does it justice for sure.
Dusted off a bong pack while we were dusting our brooms!...Awsome cover..outstanding slide skills man...
Gosto muito do estilo de Edward Philips 👏
Já vi outros interpretarem mas só ELE conceguiu mostrar a ALMA dessa música !
When I get up in the morning I'm going to hook up the speakers to this tablet and have a cup of coffee.
Never heard this tune before. Good slides.
Play this stuff. Dude's the most dialed in for this music I've heard/seen on line..
Specially on a Dobro...Roll tide Brother. SLIDE ON !
This rhythm wakes me up!
Thank You for another wonderfully inspiring video.Keep up the great work...We love what you do....!!!!
you were born with a guitar on your hands man, just wow. stunning
Dude you are the best. I watch and listen to you every day. God bless you, and I wish you the best. You deserve a record deal.
I always look forward to your excellent authentic demos. There were so many delta, piedmont, texas, blues men I'm sure there are many songs to pick from.
Now there's a song I haven't heard in close to 50 years!
I love the timing and the overall sound of this. You really got the blues right. Wonderful!
Very well done. Applause.
Yeah buddy that’s what I’m talkin bout. That’s foot stompin music tight there. Ya sure got that voice . Peace from Texas !!!! ✌️
Maybe go to the crossroads at hwy 61 and 49 about 11 miles from where I grew up and feel the presence. Go across the bridge and see where Sonny Boy Williamson got started busking on Cherry Street. It will be an inspiring journey.
You really evoke the “the sound” out of that Morgan Monroe - nice work!
Wow super guitar
Awesome! Love your interpretation. Your Dust my Broom is awesome too. That's the first slide song I learned!!!
That was unbelievable!! I think I saw Elmore’s ghost taking notes in the background. Now I’m just gonna go and throw my guitar away and stick to the drums
Lol. I know that feeling!
Johnny Winter covered it excellent. Great job thanks!
Greatest version, real groovy rhythm, thanks again Edward
check this version best ive heard: ua-cam.com/video/8wMRbXOI0lc/v-deo.html
This performance is a triumph!
There's something wrong; it will only allow me to click 'like' once. I feel that's inadequate for talent this exceptional.
This is a great song
Strong vocals, your right hand is legit. Keep the Blues alive

I think you’re great. I just want you to go there and appreciate the whole culture. It is a life long inspiration.
EP too cool . Love that Dobro. Yeah nice job on a classic Delta Blues Legend !
So good , would be great if you did a lesson on one of these songs.
I've seen all kinds of slides. This is the first deep well socket. Loved the song and the playing. Thanks
Johnny Winter once said he had used a socket for a slide.
Awesome!!! the soul of blues running into you...
Outstanding singing and guitar playing! Thanks for sharing this.

I learned to play Delta blues because of this man.

Mighty fine picking Edward. Mighty fine.
Dude I love your covers. I said it before but it's inspiring. I want to play my resonator
Same ! My cheapo Harley Benton resonator had been gathering dust until recently when I found this channel !
Nice! Didnt even know Harley Benton made resos! I fell in love with a generic recording king reso
Great vocals!
i'd buy any record you released. pure blues from the times it came from.
I became familiar with this piece thanks to ZZ Top. This is an excellent version.
