@@awptsm There is a big difference between a ref trying to break up a fight and accidently pushing his kid to the ground, vs. someone who has no business on the court bum rushing an old ref. He could have been killed hitting his head on the court that hard. If the dad had any guts, he would have gone after the ref who accidently pushed his son to the ground.

He has a long history of violence, and was never really punished. It appears his son
may carry some of his father's traits. One can only wonder what goes on at home.
He needs to be in prison, he cannot function in society and very well may kill someone.

If he was to take a plea deal with the DA, the judge needs to add more stipulations and should still give him a lifetime banishment of ever attending any of his children's sporting events no matter what state the event takes place in. From grade school to the professional level, from basketball to football to baseball to soccer, and on and on...

Can a state (not federal) judge do that? How could s/he enforce it given jurisdiction limitations? Has the DA charged this dad with any crimes against children?

@@internetuser7156 so what you think this guy should just get a slap on the wrist and community service?
This guy has shown a history losing his temper and assaulting others.
His punk kid is out there following in his Dad's footsteps obviously and fouling other players for no reason whatsoever and then trying to bully them more when they say anything to him.
So we are to coddle this guy once again shown him yet again that his actions and the actions of his son go unchecked and that just tells them both that what you are doing is acceptable?!? His son should sit out a year and the Dad needs to go to prison for at least a few years.
What he did was blatant assault plain a simple.
He needs to be shown (and his son too) that the rules apply to everyone with no exceptions.

@@internetuser7156 A lifetime probation can be in forced by a local, state, or federal judge and it can be implied to any jurisdiction in the country. You can always go to another state and live your life while on probation, but if you violate a given order by a judge, anywhere in this country, you can and will be in violation of a judicial order that is punishable to jail time. And plus, look at how his son is being unsportsmanlike towards his opponents. This will be a lesson learned to the son that actions like this has consequences.

Not a coincidence that the dad’s son was the one that started it all. He committed the foul (which is semi ok, hard to tell whether he swiped at the kid’s face on purpose or not) but he then later put his shoulder into the other kid’s back which started the physical altercation. So….what woman allowed herself to get impregnated by the father who clearly has dna that should not continue in our species?
