      Cosmo Vedder No doubt, lol. Dad probably never played football so he wasn't used to seeing hits like that. Makes kids tough though, and learn real fast. Seen a few of these in my days. Get your head out of the clouds and look around for cheap shots. I just laughed it off, and got paybacks after hits like that. Those were the good ole days, when parents didn't make fools of their self.

    I have coached youth sports several years and the worst part about it, is the parents. Hands down. The best thing we had was a silent game. Parents could hold signs and clap, but no yelling at the kids. It was glorious and without exception the kids always love it.

      There was a 60's model Ford truck that would pull up by the outfield fence and watch our little league baseball games. One of the coaches was known for throwing fits and screaming at players,umps and parents. I wasn't at that field that day but that coach was. The coach blew up and yelled at everyone and the people said the door on that Ford opened up and a big old cowboy got out of it. He strolled around the field and walked into the dugout and punched that coach in the wind and the gut and then set him down and had a long talk with him about sportsmanship.
      The guy was parked in his usual spot the next time we played at that field and our coach and the other coach went and talked to him. His wife couldn't have children and he'd been a good highschool and college player and liked coming and watching us kids play. Saturday games it was a tradition for the winning team to buy the losing team snowcones. He took over after that and Tuesday games and Saturday games every team that played on any field got snowcones. The world needs more people like that man. This was in 1979 in New Mexico.

    I had a parent from the opposing team come to my sideline tonight looking for the kid who hit his son. When I asked him what he was doing and that it’s unacceptable to do what he was doing he tried to spin it like he was trying to help. I simply told him that’s the coaches’ jobs to correct anything done wrong, never the parents during the game. He acted surprised I was confronting him, but never in any situation is that acceptable. This block by the way was 100% clean. I had to watch a couple times, but you can see it was shoulder to shoulder and not from behind.

    • @johntate4638
      @johntate4638 5 років тому +3

      The kid never saw the blocker coming. It was a blindsided hit and when he hit him it turned him the right way and made it look like a straight up front hit. I am watching this slowed down on a 65" 4k TV. Are blind sided hits allowed against defense in this youth sport? It is very dangerous to hit someone like that. You can knock them out easy and give them concussion. When I played back in the 90s this was completely legal and you usually got a stinger and they would throw you right back and say man up. Even at his age you see how effective it was. That kid didn't get up right away. I think anything that could knock someone out should be illegal, but would it still be football? I loved football and would't change it, but dangerous.

  • @javtimestwo

      What does that have to do with coaching? A lot of football coaches are ex players that were lineman and are very smart and know the game. Stop judging.

That never stopped me from playing football, and of course I have been rocked to my core many of times, and my dad never jumped out of his seat over me getting rocked... He would tell me I need to grow eyes out of the side of my head.... lol

    Coach did a good job handling his parents. Clearly Dad did not see the hit. Kid got blocked with a hit to the chest. Clean hit. I remember at that age when I got knocked flat the 1st time in practice by one of my own team mates. No one likes to get hit like that, but is part of the game. There is a reason they wear they gear. It is because you are going to get hit.

    Ok, youtube quarterbacks. Re-watch the film. The penalty flag was because a kid, not the ball carrier, was shoved in his back and went to the ground. It happened before the end of play. And, yes, I like the idea of kicking a kid out of the game when his parent runs onto the field.

    • @bdcochran01

    I'll admit I was one of those parents one time. However it was during a flag football match and one of the opposing kids threw a nasty body block on a punt return to knock one of our players out of bounds and prevent a TD. Ended up it was the coach's kid. It didn't help that the coach rushed him off the field immediately after the play and pretended like his kid was never on the field.

    This is one of those hits that you didn't see coming. Your just laying on your back getting your wind back, taking inventory, o.k. everything still works, were going to do awesome next play.....and then your dad rushes onto the field to yell about someone hitting his 'little angel'. Now you just want the earth to swallow you up.

    I've coached Youth and high school sports for over 25 years. Whatever the event the kids are participating in, parents are the real opponent of their own kids! Do you think these kids aren't stressed out and trying to enjoy the sport when they see their parents having an emotional physical meltdown! I've seen it all, believe me.
