- The Dave King Trio came through our shop for a once-in-a-lifetime live performance. We packed the Chicago Drum Exchange showroom to max capacity with the full band, giving the audience a rare, intimate look at some serious mid-western Jazz. Check it out!

These artists graced Vancouver with a performance last weekend! The venue was a weird match, and I think they knew it right away: there was a loud, constant hum of non-listeners throughout the entire 2 sets. The front seating was full of appreciative music-lovers. In response to the majority, the Trucking Co. decided to blast the place with a heavy set, lots and lots of dense free-form solos (like in their final song in the performance above) and really loud and relentless at times. It was SICK and a perfect way to adapt to the venue, respect.
This set is much nicer, well-paced; exactly what I missed from their live show. Same band, 2 different experiences! JAZZ.
Dave has a beautiful way of using the drums to impart beauty and sophistication into A song, without the use of flashy chops. Love this dude so much
Hilarious name, fantastic musicians and great tunes.
If you like this and want more, but different, check out The Blue Cranes. They have a similar alto-tenor thing going on. Great drummer as well.
thank you for posting this, this is pure gold!
Thank you very much for posting that!
Wow the melody of the first track, beautiful!!!
Soooo good.
Iconoclastic!
Love the Skylark Guitar! Had that exact model in high school, and spent the past 20 years trying to replace it. Finally got one a few months ago.
amazing

it's : You Can't Say ''Poem In Concrete''
Killer performance. Dave King is king. There are some takes that don't match the music though, like in 13:34

He uses VF SD4 Combo
why there's hole on his bells?
teamsleepnine probably broken. I saw Dave teach a clinic, I believe one of his cymbals were broken then too.
What guitar is that?
I think it's an Aria Pro, from the 80's
Looked it up, it's not an Aria - www.matsumoku.org/models/skylark/skylark_info.html
dave king can believe himself?
Hey guys, brilliant audio production, video quality, editing, color grading, and the like!
My opinion (from someone who is not in the know or your audience for this video)
1. I didn't know who Dave King was before this video. Might I suggest putting some titles/text to identify the person in the video title and all the other band members?
2. I didn't watch the entire video (full speed) from beginning to end but I wondered if maybe even 1 more camera angle to cover more than a wide/tight (of drummer) may have been better coverage?
Honestly, I'm not the demo for this video or musical performance. I'm not keen to a whole bunch of Jazz music, but I am a video production professional and I wanted to convey my only 2 concerns with the video. Love your channel, love your content, you guys are an inspiration!!!!! Keep up the good work!
