@@thebossnocompetition8757 This isn't a race. These aren't race cars. These aren't professional drivers. This is a lapping session for driving enthusiasts. The goal is to improve your personal best lap times. You are competing against nobody (hence the reason you see drivers use their turn signal to allow passing). There is no winner. However, you will go home a joke and a fat loser if you wreck your car for driving like there's something to win.
You speak exactly like someone who has never been on a racetrack. Keep cutting corners in Forza buddy.

I'll start with.. I love the sound of American "muscle"... Your / this SS sounds amazing... Back to the so-called "race"... Whoever was in the GT2 probably has seriously deep pockets, but he for sure isn't a racer.. He'd "gap" on the straights and the SS would reel him all the way back in inside the turns.. Actually, that Porsche was slowing him down there... Regardless, I watched this video from start to finish twice!.. In 2004 or 05', I had a 02' WS6 Trans Am fully built out with a Procharger (ETC) when I drove from Texas to Orlando, Fl for the Performance Racing Industry show that year. My childhood best friend was a legend and ProCharger was his right hand, so it was pretty cool.. (I've never been in the industry, but it is cool to know people, even by 'proxy'.. The T/A was nasty fast and I/we were supposed to get some runs at Daytona, but due to weather.. Poof.. I doubt that T/A would have handled 1/2 as well as this Camaro. I was just a bit upset (pissed off) didn't get to put it down at Daytona.. Had to settle for the tourist ride in a stretched golf cart... Of which, the "driver" didn't like any Dale talk.. Once stopped... I scaled the grade to where I knew exactly where it happened.. Put a knee down and thanked him for the inspiration he gave me back when I was watercraft racing, as well as some cars.. It is a friggin amazing place.. Where a lot of amazing people have pushed it.. Thank you for sharing this! I have no idea who you are, but you were doing a great job pushing it...

Certainly, I ran Hawk DTC70's on the front and 60's on the back, if I recall correctly. They're not my favorite pads I wasn't comfortable in compressing the brake zones with them further than what I had. My choice bad is the Raybestos ST47 pad. I will be back in Daytona this coming October with those pads, they've been difficult to acquire but I have them currently on the car with some spares so they should hold out until then. The Hawk's also wear out quite quickly (few days) and the Raybestos last for several events.

@@fronkies1LECamaro It should be mentioned that some organizations have specific restrictions on what vehicles can participate. Some don't allow full convertibles, for example. Some only with a roll bar meeting certain requirements (like construction requirements or maybe the broomstick test) and some don't care at all. Some might not allow open wheeled cars, and some might. Many won't let you run pickup trucks or vans, but there are some that do. A high percentage of organizers/tracks will, at the very least, require that towing eyes are installed. They also might have minimum dress requirements, safety equipment requirements (such as specific FIA rating and compliance year for helmets), etc. It's also common that they have some sort of vehicle inspection requirement. Some places might not allow antifreeze. These things can be true for an organizing club AND for a venue. It's wise to read the entry requirements for whatever specific organization and event venue you're considering.
Prepping your vehicle with a high quality brake fluid is strongly recommended, as is good quality, new or newish pads, a fresh oil/filter change, etc. It's also wise to take some basic tools with you, especially those required to adjust your tire pressures up or down, remove/replace a wheel and torque it properly, jack up the car, clean the windshield, etc. In many cases, you'll be happy if you took a lawn chair along with you. It will help out a first timer to familiarize himself with the organizer's/venue's use of flags, the day's planned schedule, a map of the track and its facilities, any car numbering requirements, etc. Knowing such things in advance will reduce the amount of stuff you have to figure out at the last minute, and this will make your experience more enjoyable. Making friends early, with a few of the other participants parked near you and in the same run group, will help in the same way.
If you sign up for a two-day event, make sure you plan your overnight arrangements (some places let you set up a tent on site, some don't), scout out meal possibilities, and perhaps bring a small cooler with drinks and snacks. Some tracks have a snack bar or even an on-track restaurant, and some don't. Some are close to plenty of outside businesses, and some aren't. Pay attention to the predicted weather as your event approaches. Some folks like to bring easy-ups to park under, some places have canopy covered parking, some places rent garage space. Find out if the track has gasoline on site, and/or where the nearest suitable off-site gas station is.
It the most fun hobby I've ever tried. I was hooked by my second session and won't give it up until I'm too old and feeble to climb in and out of my car. Being at least somewhat prepared will help ensure you get to enjoy it as much as possible.

@@fronkies1LECamaro I started sixteen years ago in a naturally aspirated Exige. I run a GT3RS now. I used to get frustrated when stuck behind a slower driver, but that went away one day. I decided to make a little game out of it. Can I still keep up with him using max 90% of the throttle pedal? 80%? 70%? One weekend my Exige started going into limp mode if I exceeded 4700-rpm. I had broken a cam follower. Not wanting my money to go to waste, I stayed the rest of the weekend and just short shifted at 4500-rpm. Ran five sessions that way. I spent more of my mental attention on braking points, minimizing braking, getting my lines perfect, etc. By the last session I was running within two seconds of my best on a 1.7 mile track. I think I learned more that weekend than any other over the years. When I applied my newfound smooth, precise consistency to the same track a month later, with a fixed engine, I set a new personal best by a second and a half. Not every lap need be a time attack lap. I stopped worrying about how fast I could go RIGHT NOW, and instead focused on improving my repeatable skills and finesse. I believe I improved at a faster rate thanks to flipping that mental switch, and I never got frustrated again.
