This channel is about racing. Mostly will cover events done in my 2018 Camaro SS 1LE, but I'll also show endurance racing in a Mustang I've been racing and racing in an F-Body 1997 Camaro endurance race car that is currently being built. In addition to racing this channel will cover work done to keep race cars going.
VIR Camaro TSCC - Adriaan Ride Along - BMW Sliding
Ride along with my student Adriaan. Last lap or in lap you'll notice a BMW watching his mirrors as I was chasing him and he started sliding in T1.

Got to be one of the most beautiful runs I've ever done at VIR. Sky was beautiful temperature was wonderful and car ran well. Almost distracting to drive with how nice the sky was. Ran with my Camaro SS 1LE on November 18th.

Last hour of the race. Towards the end I was running out of fuel. Thank God for the scavenge tank in the bottom because the tank was empty when we came in. Good learning experience on how much fuel we used. Also thank God we won another 2nd place trophy even with us running out of fuel.

Hey dad, what's a Camaro? Dad: A small animal that eats Mustangs.
@@erijavec 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
You did way better than that zle.
@@RabatinLLC thank you very much
This guy went faster than the zl1 1le in another video. SS are way better cars cause of higher compression and less weight
I’m very confused about something. I watched a 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE on that exact same course and his top speeds were pretty much exactly what yours were with all that extra power!? How? Do you have mods? Or is it just an aero/drag thing? Edit; I just read your mod list that explains it. Very nice car btw!! I have a 2022 Camaro ZL1 that I would love to get on track!! I’m just paranoid about an accident since my insurance wouldn’t be any good. I’m pretty confident in my driving skills. I’ve been driving something since I was eight years old. I’m just worried about someone else blowing an engine, and oiling the track things like that.
@@Eddie2425 yes I had good engine mods at the time. I’ve since blown that engine up. You should try it out, I teach and instruct. Also they have special track/HPDE insurance as well you can buy. They cover accidents not mechanical issues though.
That's the only way to drive a BMW
Woah!
Ol boy in the 04 was cookin
Horribly slow, continuously in wrong gear, corner entry & exit needs LOTS of work as well as you being in the correct gear for entry & exit in the corners..
Get a life
show us better then
Nice driving!
😂😂😂
That’s the stuff that dreams are made of. Bummed I got my camaro after Auto Club speedway closed, now I’ll have to travel to find a roval
Great driving! Nice work nursing it to the finish!!! Congratulations!
Way to go Zach!
Nice driving John!
Ahh the SS 1LE track and street razor 🇺🇸💪🏻🔥
Excellent driving! Do you mind sharing what pads you were running & any issues with fading? Thanks!
Certainly, I ran Hawk DTC70's on the front and 60's on the back, if I recall correctly. They're not my favorite pads I wasn't comfortable in compressing the brake zones with them further than what I had. My choice bad is the Raybestos ST47 pad. I will be back in Daytona this coming October with those pads, they've been difficult to acquire but I have them currently on the car with some spares so they should hold out until then. The Hawk's also wear out quite quickly (few days) and the Raybestos last for several events.
Go Johnny Go!
What game is this
Game of life my guy. It’s the real thing, I’m driving my car on track.
So you threw a rod though the block then I take it?
Yeah that about sums it up.
@@fronkies1LECamaro May 2023 I popped two pistons and spun two rod bearings myself. Had the engine rebuilt last December. Figured was a good time to add a cam since it was being rebuilt.
Wow that GT2 straight line speed was impressive. That guy obviously took it easy in the turns,
My $250,000 Porsche can’t shake this fu@#ing Camaro!! Damn it!!
He must have been unhappy lol. I tried to find him afterwards to say good job but never found him! 🤣
Wow great driving, hurting feelings, love it👍.
Thanks man!
Nice watching from the cockpit of Mario Andretti's Camaro.
Thank you for the compliment I appreciate it. I assure you though I’m no Mario lol
Blew it up coming out of turn 2, that is rather unusual.
yeah lol, it wasn't ideal
P r o m o S M
The GT2 is fast, but that driver isn't. He's only there for the oval, not the R-part. Their lines in the infield didn't capitalize on the potential exit speeds they could have had, and the braking power was clearly pretty weak as well. You, on the other hand, were quite consistent and your car sounds great.
I appreciate it man. It was a fun time. Pretty good analysis I think.
Excellent driving! Closed the distance on the Porsche every time until he tapped out. Very satisfying to watch you run your car.
Thanks so much, it was fun driving it.
What type of car
1997 Camaro V6
Haven't watched full video yet but what's up with the turn signals?? Both mustang and BMW signaled right then kept left? 2:00
Turn signals are used to indicate what side you're supposed to pass on. They don't want you sticking your arm out the window at 150 mph.
Audio and video workin
Working
What track is this?
Daytona
Did the driver eject in time ?
🤣
I blew the LS6 in my CTS-V in that exact same spot back in 2022. Fun times...
Fun times only begins to describe it doesn't it?
Shoulda brought the Ford. (this should be entertaining)
Lol funny. It's a good motor, or was, just a bad valve spring unfortunately, could have happened to anyone.
It sounds so good, yet it sounds so bad, I've been on a lot of different tracks but never this one, looks like it would be a good one.
Tom, which HPDE vendor sponsored this event. Im aware of the audi group in october 2023 ( i was there) but i dont see many track days at daytona. Thanks fred
Hey Fred, this was with the Audi Club out of Ohio but was in December of 2022.
Thanks for the response. Yes I did the daytona with audi in October in 2023. It is an 11 hour drive for me from north Alabama but would like do one more or 2 a year in addition to Audi event. Thank fred
I know how that feels. I had a motor let go just about exactly in the same spot. I had a C5 Corvette with a 416 stroker making 525 rwhp. No fire, thankfully, but that definitely put a damper on my weekend.
Not a good kind of damper, I understand that pain. I blew mine on a Friday and still had to come back Saturday and Sunday to instruct students. Added insult to injury.
What exhaust, wheels, tires and pads is this SS setup with?
It’s a SS 1LE and at this time it had a heads and cam package from Katech in it, since then though the car dropped a valve and I had to replace the motor. However I kept the American Racing long tube headers with high flow cats on it. Always has had the stock mufflers on it. Wheels here are OE wheels, and tires are the GY SC3. Pads here were Hawks but I prefer the Raybestos ST47 as they’re more consistent and last longer.
Thx for the info. That's very unusual to hear and from Katech. Hard to believe that happened. What did they say? Where did the new motor come from?
@@gbass7328 still trying to work with them. I bought a new LT1 crate from Chevrolet.
Horrible to hear. I am in a similar boat with a Focus RS blown motor and Ford CPO warranty. 7 weeks and no outcome yet. Looking to move over to an SS 1LE. Good luck!
@@gbass7328good luck with the RS man. Hope to see you over in the bow-tie camp here soon. Good luck finding a car, you should try to get one sooner rather than later. I have a feeling they'll get harder to come by.
Thanks again Tom appreciate very much
no problem!
I'll be there tomorrow for the Audi Club event....next year I'm doing this one instead to get Grand Course!
it is a fun course to run
How do I get involved? What club did you race under Thank you.
The best place to go to would be www.motorsportsreg.com and look for different events at various tracks. I see in one comment you said you live in the Daytona area. The Audi Club (who I've run with) held this event and typically do one event a year at Daytona. Chin Track Days was supposed to have an event later this month but it got cancelled. SCCA typically does a Track Night in America and it's a good time, I've seen Daytona on their schedule. However I recommend the website I referenced at first, Daytona is not a difficult track to drive but a simple mistake could be costly and having a seasoned instructor in the car with you would be beneficial.
@@fronkies1LECamaro thank you very much for your timei i appreciate your efforts and your info. Can’t thank you enough I enjoy your videos by the way thanks again God bless good luck.
I wish I knew about this I live in town I’d love to see it
I live in Daytona I have a Camaro I want to do this
I'm there in 2 weeks !!!
Glad to see you got it back going. What was wrong with it?
Unfortunately it blew up while on track.....ua-cam.com/video/ki-Y5CDE0ng/v-deo.html&lc=UgwRhl4Ku6nY8AChezB4AaABAg
How do you sign up for track sessions? I can't find anything on the Daytona website.
www.motorsportsreg.com is usually the best place.
Did you have to tune for the longtube headers?
I most certainly did. I went to Pray Performance. Brett there does a great job. Give him a shout and tell him I sent you
Love the glowing exhausts of the GT2RS
Any updates on the Camaro?
ua-cam.com/video/RkTy_3NlRkA/v-deo.html
What happened to make it catch fire? Is Katech going to fix it under warranty?
I don't know about how Katech is going to handle this, I've been talking to them so they're being very receptive. I'll need to create a video showing what happened.
they did not fix it
