On holiday in Italy we had an accident involving one of the earlier 9000 models (about 20ish years ago). The Fiat which hit us hit us at least 35/40mph in the rear and hit us so hard it launched the top box off the roof into the next lane (miracously this didn't involve a second accident and we continued to use that top box for years afterwards). Unsurprisingly we were okay (except the video camera in the boot!) - whereas some people in the Fiat had to be cut out and rushed to hospital. Despite the poor weather conditions, thanks to the both the Saab and my Dad's driving we were able to avoid going into the vehicle in front.
Seeing that 9000 getting rear ended actually hurts to watch now... I'm still looking for a nice reflector plate for my recently bought 9000 cse project. 😅 and they're difficult to find now.
I saved 4 from the Scrapyards. A 900 classic 2.1i, a 900ng Convertible 2.3i, a 9-5 estate 2.3t and now a 9000 2.3t (lpt, soon to be fpt) Bought all of them with fairly big issues.. But all fixable. And since they dont make any more, I dont see why the few remaining schould be scrapped. (Unless absolutely totalled or rotten)
This video shows really well why SAAB went bankrupt. You can’t put this much money on R&D on a single model and still remain competitive on the market.
Saab went far further than what GM wanted them to quickly modify on the Opel Vectra bases they were giving them, but considering Opel were not much profitable, GM was I think use to loose money with its european branches 😅
@@adrienohmer9452Opel was actually bringing in excellent profits and creating technologies for all of GM. And what the media told you, that Opel was not profitable, was a simple scam on the part of GM to avoid taxes, everyone knew that.
I've owned 34 makes and models of cars trucks and vans I never felt right in any car till I owned a Saab had a new 900 & now have a 9-5 & after being in a serious accident in a Ford truck which was safe I still feel better driving a Saab
I drove 400km last week in a 1 year old merc e-klass in slippery conditions with great studded tyres. The roadfeel in the merc was no way near to what my 1984 900 manages to transfer. I have driven over a million kilometers in old the 900 in all sorts of conditions and have never felt that level of safety and confidence in any other car.
There's another video floating somewhere of that includes the story of a father pulling out into the path of an articulated truck and getting completely wedged under the trailer after being hit at about 50mph. Him and his young daughter survived and were virtually uninjured after being helped out of their 9-3 sedan. I have one of these, too. The cars are pains to maintain to a showroom standard but absolutely solid on the road. My 9-3 is my first and so far only car I've had, not looking to change it any time soon.

You're lucky, that wasn't a safe car.
SAAB come back!

They didn't, these cars are from the GM recycling dustbin.

That's in the context of their sales success which is a lot less than the successful brands. If they sold enough they could have survived.
I thought the Saab 900 NG had terrible deformation of the passenger cell in offset impacts as a result of using the Vauxhall Cavalier floor pan…

Modern cars are safer
safety car. i drive saab 9-5. my wife drive saab 9000 cse. we loves saab
Ha! They did leave the little kid outside!
This is BS, the 900 was the worst performing car in it's class when tested by EuroNCAP.
The only way a Saab's safety cage is gonna be crushed is if it's hit by a train on a level crossing!
That's BS, the 900 was based on the Vectra A!!
Dream job, this or at Volvo!
Pity Saab's gone now. Although I have always like Saab's and Volvo's.
0:52 Only an idiot overtakes like that.
I drive a Saab 9-3, best car i've ever owned. But in this video, did they leave the little kid outside in the snow? Not too safe...... just saying

Mercedes-Benz ist der beste!!!
It's a human right to feel safe... 🤣
False sense of security, these are old cars now.
awesome video
Salut my friend super car super video subscribe subscribe
It's the fact.
I will probably have SAAB 900 this week, couldn't be happier...
I couldn't buy SAAB900 last month, but I will probably have 1994 SAAB9000 CDE this week, couldn't be happier...
That's too funny. I'm sure somebody 'fetched' the little bugger. I actually had to go back and look again...and yes, they did. You are very observant.
that was claimed a fasle test. the car was immediately re-made with higher safety
Propaganda........or......commercial.....
