Comparing apples and pears: Mercedes-Benz and Volvo luxury saloons with an Opel/GM hatchback. Show the Saab 9-5 instead, and decide again which is the safest.
900 is a safe car, not as safe as 9000 or 9-5 but for its size it's safe. try a comparison with cars closer to its class or compare the Volvo and Mercedes to a 9000 or 9-5.
You can blame GM for that. They forced Saab to develop a new 900 as quickly as possible using Opel Vectra A platform, and the results weren't... great. Although in real life accidents it was still quite safe. The facelifted version (named 9-3) was much safer, as Saab was able to work on it a lot longer.
Mercedes are very safe cars. And your see a lot of Them old ones still in traffic. I know, I’ve had w123, w124, w210, w211 and now I have a 2018 w213 E 220d All of them are great and incredibly solid cars. Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow ; MERCEDES BENZ!!! /Leif
Estos videos habría que dedicárselos a los cuñados que todavía a día de hoy van diciendo que los coches antiguos eran más seguros por que su chapa era más dura..... Ver para creer
If you would test these cars today, as used cars. I guess the volvos would win. The Mercedes now is so rusty, that there would be only rubbish, dust and rust left after the crashs. By the way I think none of these types of Mercedes have survived
@@mbicer No, my opinion is: as these cars were new, both had similar security. But now these cars, we are talking of, are more than 20 years old. A twenty year old mercedes is much more rusty than a 20 year old volvo. And so the body strucure of an old mercedes can not be as strong as the body structure of a twenty year old not rusty Volvo.

yep.
You couldn't be more right
The 9-5 is a much newer car
@@ayrtonsenna1099 what??
saab 9-5 is a vectra too!

In this test you compare it to it's own weight!
Surprised at the Saab. Volvo SIPS clearly evident here. The difference between longitudinal and lateral stiffness in the Mercedes is quite shocking.

surprising, even by today’s standard, they are pretty safe
Jiarui Zhang I agree. I think Volvo did the best in all three tests

Not fair....
You compare the Volvo s70 with an E class....wrong...
S90 is the direct rival against Mb E class
Mercedes clearly the safest car.
19tuureluur86 where are you seeing a Mercedes?
Until your t-boned or a pushbike rides into the side of you.
Except it rusted away to shit, making it about as safe as a coffin.
The average S70 20 years later is like a tank compared to a Merc of the same age.
e class 900 buyers could not afford a e class, if they had more money they would buy a safer larger Saab like 9000 or 9-5
Volvo the best!

Do you mean that the new Mercedes models are not as safe as new Volvo's? Thanks..

@@schruefix1652 You make no actual sense
@@schruefix1652 I bet these volvos rust even more and wouldn be crushed in a crash, rust free or rusted.
They are everywhere, they are infact much better and nicer looking than these ugly volvos.
Thisvsaab is a opel..
Мотор только😅
@@mmmmmmeeeeee-k8r the entire chassis is an opel vectra platform, this generation of the 900 was very rushed
the previous ones were made by saab and much better quality
The Saab 900 sucks a lot, but it's the safest in the 9-5 class
its a GM saab that's why
Mercedes 🔥🔥🔥🔥
distance first is Mercedes. Then weak volvo and much weaker saab. To be fair saab was an opel to beginn with.
Wow
1st one(saab) must have been at 100mpht. Or one that never went into production.
GM demolished Saab.
The Mercedes is a bigger and newer car
